Summer Lindell - District 9 Female - Age 18
Summer had been having trouble sleeping over the past few nights. She'd try to close her eyes, but all she would be able to see was Adira and Luca, her two allies, who she killed. She deceived both of them, albeit for means of survival, but that didn't mean it looked good for her conscious. It was sort of ironic that Summer had been forced into the arena because she was misunderstood to be a manipulative, awful, person since that was now who she feared she'd be if she ever left. Her chest was heavy, as she reflected on the awful things she'd thought about the Careers, and how murderous they were, as she realized she was just as bad, if not worse. She laughed at how she'd told Luca to only kill when he was in direct danger, just a short few days ago, not knowing she herself was capable of killing him without danger being present in the slightest. She'd never know whether or not the words he said on the roof were true, or if he wanted to kill her, just as bad as he felt obligated to kill him. Either way, what Luca said was nice, and Summer did genuinely appreciate the compliments even though he likely retracted them the moment she pushed him off the roof.
Now that Summer was the only one left in her alliance though, she had no idea what she was supposed to do. Was she supposed to actively seek out and hunt the remainder of the final three and win that way, or would the Gamemakers try to arrange something so they'd all kill each other? She wasn't quite sure if she was capable of killing somebody again, but she knew she would have to at least one more time if she wanted to win, even though that would turn her into even more of a monster than she already was. She thought about who was left. The boy from 8 didn't seem too physically threatening, but Sapphira, the girl from 1 was definitely somebody to watch out for. Summer thought about the conversation they had had before they were sent into the arena where Summer made her shirt into a crop top. Sapphira had promised to not kill her, at least not right away, and when they spoke, there was certainly some sort of sexual tension. Had the situation been different, Summer would have been more than eager to explore the tension since Sapphira was, well, hot, but would be hypocritical for her to do so now, especially when she had just killed two people to prove that the Games weren't a time for fun. Still, Summer somewhat longed for at least a hookup with Sapphira, since again, the girl was hot, when she came up with what was in her opinion, her best idea yet. She would try to find Sapphira, and insinuate a romantic moment of sorts, and then enjoy herself as much as possible while also trying to kill her. It was fucked up, but Summer was certain Sapphira would consent to it, since she gave off those vibes, and then Summer would kill her before she could get attached to her and feel bad about it.
The only issue was that Summer didn't exactly know where Sapphira was. She assumed she wasn't in the city, so she scoured the forest looking for the brown-haired girl with the daintiest blue eyes in Panem.
"Hey." Summer found Sapphira by a pond and carefully approached her, concealing the knife in her pocket. "You're Sapphira, right?"
"Excuse me?" She was looking at her reflection in the water, visibly distraught. "Of course I am. You're the only other girl left. Summer's your name, is it not?"
"Yeah." Summer couldn't help but be oddly nervous. She had no clue why she was, since Sapphira surely had also killed people and was just as bad, if not a worse person than she was, and the whole idea was that she would have fun.
"Wait!" Sapphira suddenly seemed interested in her. "You were the girl who helped make my shirt."
She unzipped her windbreaker to reveal the same crop-top Summer had made nearly two weeks ago. It was tattered and bloodstained, but Sapphira somehow pulled it off.
"Yup!" Summer said, twiddling her thumbs. "I made it!"
"I really appreciate it." Sapphira stepped closer to her. "Even though it's a bit ruined now."
"You make it work." Summer winked, hoping Sapphira would catch on to her flirting and make the first move.
The truth was, Summer had never properly flirted with a girl, save for the innuendo-filled jokes she'd occasionally make at Brooke, so she wasn't sure of the message she was conveying towards Sapphira.
"Do I now?" Sapphira took another step closer to her, a wicked grin on her face. "I appreciate it, dahling."
"You look good in anything!" Summer stammered, intimidated but turned on at the same time by Sapphira's proximity to her.
"Well, you know what?" Sapphira dropped her jacket to the ground, "I think I look best in nothing."
"What?" Summer muttered.
Was seducing Sapphira truly going to be that easy? The only thing left for her to do was kill her, but Summer was beginning to grow unsure that she'd be able to, due to the sheer tension she could feel.
Before Summer could think more, Sapphira grabbed her by the waist and whispered into her ear. "I think you know exactly what I mean."
"I do." Summer nodded, placing her hands around Sapphira's neck. "And I want to see what that looks like."
Summer was still barely processing exactly what she was doing when Sapphira pressed her lips on hers. "Be patient. We have to lead up to it."
Summer nodded, kissing Sapphira harder and realizing that this was her first kiss, and she had no idea what she was doing. "I'm sorry if I'm bad at this."
"You're doing great, doll." Sapphira moved her lips off of Summer's and started working at her neck, leaving what Summer could tell would be tiny marks.
"You're so beautiful. Summer ran her fingers through her hair, questioning how the hell she was supposed to kill somebody who had made her feel a way she'd never felt in her entire life. Sapphira pushed Summer to the ground and wrapped her legs around her, once again kissing her mouth. Summer tried touching Sapphira's thighs, but she wasn't sure whether or not she liked it so she stopped and went back to her hair.
"I've never done this before," Summer confessed, "So I'm sorry if I'm not up to your standards."
"You're doing so good!" Sapphira laughed. "And I am NOT a liar."
Summer started fidgeting around for her knife, knowing she had to kill her before things got any steamier, but it was hard for her to reach her back pocket as she was lying on the ground. Meanwhile, Sapphira had been touching Summer's sides, and it felt nice until she felt a sharp pain in her left hip. She looked down to see Sapphira holding her knife and grinning.
"What the hell are you doing?" Summer glared in horror, "That's my knife!"
"I know." Sapphira smirked. "And I'm so glad we had fun!"
Sapphira deepened the knife into Summer's body as she screamed a convoluted mix of Sapphira's name and "fuck," hoping and praying this wasn't the end.
"I'm bummed we won't be able to do this again," Sapphira rolled her eyes as she stuck her knife in Summer's back. "You genuinely were one of the best I've ever almost had."
Livia Cardew - District 6 Escort
"Oh, Coryo!" Livia stared into her fiance's eyes, "I cannot believe we've already come down to the final two."
Livia had been watching the Games in Coriolanus's office ever since their engagement, and they really were quite gripping this year. There had been so much betrayal, and pure bloodshed, and the homoerotic murder she had just born witness to, was simply the icing on the cake.
"I need to watch," Coriolanus sighed. "Be quiet."
Livia couldn't help but think Coriolanus had grown tired of her already. She was trying her best to be as not annoying as possible, but sometimes she was simply so excited that she had to open her mouth and say something, especially when the Games had been so utterly incredible.
"This is ridiculous!" Coriolanus exclaimed, banging his head against one of his screens, "Nothing has happened for five minutes!"
"Do you just expect them to start killing each other now?" Clemensia sighed, Lysistrata nodding in agreement.
"Well it is the finale," Coriolanus said, "And it's getting boring, right Livia?"
"Me?" Livia was shocked her fiance had acknowledged her. "Yeah, I'm so bored."
"See!" Coriolanus dramatically pointed at her. "Everybody must be bored."
"I think they're probably in the bathroom," Lysistrata rolled her eyes, "Either peeing themselves because people need to do that or relieving themselves because they had some special feelings about that last killing."
"You don't need to censor yourself, we're thirty-two," Clemensia laughed. "You can say that teenage boys are touching themselves."
"That's crude!" Livia gasped.
"I agree!" Coriolanus said. "The only reason people should be peeing and climaxing is because of the sheer excitement of these Games! I wish I was!"
He threw his bowl of grapes across the room, "Arturo! Clean that up!"
"Yes, sir!" the Intern Gamemaker said, running out of the room, "I'll get you some new grapes as well."
"I can help with the latter," Livia offered.
"No." Coriolanus slammed his hand on the table. "We need to unleash the yetis!"
"The yetis wouldn't make sense, Coriolanus." Lysistrata sighed, clearly not as aroused by Coriolanus' anger as Livia. "Last year was the snow arena."
"No green ones, as requested." Arturo returned with a new bowl of grapes.
"It doesn't need to make sense!" Coriolanus grabbed the bowl and threw it, "We are hosting a tournament where children kill each other, and continuity regarding yetis is what you're concerned about! Arturo, more grapes please."
"I guess you're right," Clemensia admitted, "Would you like me to set them up?"
"Please." Coriolanus wickedly laughed as he put his hand into the third bowl of grapes and popped a few into his mouth. "You know I love the red ones."
"Do you need more?" Arturo asked.
"These will suffice," Coriolanus said.
"We're ready!" Clemensia and Lysistrata said in unison.
"Would you like to push the button to release them?" Lysistrata asked
"I'll give Livia the honor," Coriolanus said, still chewing.
"Oh, yippee!" she exclaimed.
She couldn't believe she got to release the final mutts of the Games. This was all so exciting.
"LAUNCHING YETIS!" the computer announced.
Livia clapped as dozens of yetis surrounded the perimeter of the arena. The two remaining tributes appeared to be frightened, as the beasts started closing in on the arena, effectively getting both of them to head to the center where Livia could only assume they were going to fight to the death. As soon as they were both in the center of the arena, the sun melted the yetis, leaving them to fight.
"See!" Coriolanus pointed at the screen, "I told you this would be fun!"
The girl was holding a fancy spear thing, and the boy a dagger. They both looked too afraid to attack one another, but Livia could tell they both knew one of them would have to start. The boy charged towards the girl with the knife so she extended her spear. The boy dodged her! He sure was quick! Livia assumed he was trying to stab her. She extended her spear again and he once again dodged her. This truly was entertainment gold! She extended the spear a third time and this time cut right onto the boy's shoulder.
"Turn on the mics!" Coriolanus yelled, "Something exciting is about to happen."
"This has been an absolute ball, dahling." The girl pushed the boy to the ground, "But I'm afraid it's finally my turn to be a star."
The girl winked at the camera. Livia loved her spunk. The girl slashed the spear down his body vertically and curtsied.
"Well, well, well!" Lucky's voice projected from the other room, "Ladies and Gentlemen, I am pleased to announce the Victor of the 25th Hunger Games– Sapphira Starlett, Tribute from District 1."
WOW! It is done! Thank you so much to everybody for reading and sticking through with me, and I can't believe the Games are over! I have more epilogue, and then it will be time to start A Perfect Union, The 26th Hunger Games. The form for it is on my profile and I'm so excited to get started! Once again, thank you so much!
3rd Place, Summer Lindell (D9F) - Killed by Sapphira Starlett
Summer, girl you are just the best. Of everybody, I definitely related to you the most. Not only did you have a big heart, you had the survival instincts that made you outlast all your allies, because you're just so smart like that. In the end, you died the way I want to die, simping over Sapphira Starlett. Perhaps your death is me projecting? And Haley, thank you so much for all the emotional support over these past weeks as I wrote this. While I'll never forgive you for giving me Xan, Summer almost makes up for him. Almost. Anyways! Thanks for letting me tell you all my crazy ideas on the phone and telling me which ones were stupid, which was most.
2nd Place, Logan Webster (D8M) - Killed by Sapphira Starlett
Logan, I can't believe that I let you, a creation by JJ, make it to the Top 2. You reminded me of a smarter, more politically aware version of my brother, and maybe that is why I kept you around so long lmao or maybe it's because you're genuinely a cool person and I really admire you for living your life with such brevity. I'm so honored JJ that you trusted me with him, and I hope you're not too mad at me, and if you are, read Sapphira and Summer kissing again so you feel better.
Victor, Sapphira Starlett
Sapphira, Sapphira, Sapphira, where do I even begin? First off, Will, thank you so much for giving her to me, as she is just THE BEST, and is second to only Xan. The moment I read her form I thought "well, fuck" because I had no idea how I would do her justice and I hope I did. You will be invited to our wedding, as well as the birth of our daughter Lapphira. You can even be the rabbi or the OBGYN if you want or even both.
