Bruce ran his hands lightly on Felicity's bare back as she rested against his chest, listening to his heart beat.
"I really didn't expect to spend my lunch hour in bed with you," she commented, not moving from her spot.
He smiled, "At least now we can cut off not working out because the sex is bad or awkward from your list."
She chuckled softly and playfully slapped his chest, "I didn't exactly mean to say that before. But you are right." She yawed but started standing up as she said, "I should probably go. I'm already late for work as it is."
"Work as Oliver's EA," he paused. "Are you going to tell him about me?" he asked from his position in bed.
She finished zipping up her skirt and turned to Bruce, frowning, "Are you talking about the vigilante thing or about us?"
He gave her a crooked smile, "Both."
She sighed as she started looking for her shirt, "I'll have to... Eventually... But not today."
"Do you think there is a chance he will turn me in?" Bruce asked calmly but it was obvious he considered it a serious possibility.
She looked at Bruce, an angry murderous look in her eyes, "He wouldn't dare! He has enough self preservation to know better!"
By the look on Felicity's face at the mention of a threat to him, he not only felt safe but also proud to have someone so strong and loving on his side. And the fact that she looked gorgeous wearing just a tight skirt and an open shirt also helped.
She was putting on her high heels when his smile finally dropped and he called her name as he stood up. She looked at him startled and he looked at her with longing, which she couldn't understand.
"I wish we had more time to just enjoy ourselves and play it by ear, not caring about the world," he started. "But I am Bruce Wayne, face of Wayne Enterprises and billionaire playboy to the world."
She looked at him confused, so he continued, "I had no idea that you'd come see me in my hotel in the middle of the day, and though I'm really glad you did, I know when you leave the hotel you'll find a bunch of papparazi trying to get a quote from you or take a picture of you."
Her eyebrows raised as she finally understood his change in mood and all she could muster was, "Oh." She paused, sitting on a plush chair, "So you want to keep us a secret? I could probably leave through the employee's entrance or the garage. There must be at least one car with tinted windows in this hotel-" she offered but he cut her off.
"I want us to go public. The question is: what do you want?" He tried to look unaffected as he asked, not wanting to influence her, but she could see a hint of insecurity in his eyes.
She gave him a coy smile before answering, "That depends. Will you be a one-woman man? Or will I have to worry about Russian ballerinas and bikini models?"
He grinned, walking to her, "I'll definitely be just yours. That I can promise you."
"Then I have no problem going public," she said, grinning before kissing him, then pulled away, "But now I have to go otherwise I'll get fired. Or at least scolded."
Bruce smiled and started getting dressed, "Okay, I'll take you to work myself if you promise to make it up to me tonight."
She looked at him as she applied her bright pink lipstick, "I'm sorry but I have to work on my other job tonight. There is this guy that has been terrorizing Oliver and I haven't really put much effort in tracking him since a certain Bat vigilante popped into my life."
Bruce checked himself on the mirror, combing his hair with his fingers then turned to Felicity, offering his hand. "We don't have to go out or anything. I can meet you at your apartment after you're done for the night or you can come to my hotel."
She shook her head, "I won't be finished until very late."
"I don't care," he answered. "I don't have any more official business in Starling and Magpie has been arrested so I'll probably just work on some papers or work out until I get a chance to see you again."
Felicity furrowed her eyebrows, "Damn, you're really good at the whole seducing and sweeping a girl off of her feet thing."
He chuckled, "Does it mean I can drive you to Queen Consolidated and see you later tonight?"
"You can drive me to work. About later... give me a few hours before we make any plans," she said, opening the door and walking with him to the elevator.
The drive to Queen Consolidated wasn't exactly easy. Bruce was right and as soon as they left the garage the papparazzi started gathering around Bruce's car, taking pictures of them. Certainly, it would be all over the internet in less than an hour. A few minutes later they puller over in front of Queen Consolidated and after a goodbye kiss Felicity made her way to office.
As soon as she stepped out of the elevator Oliver stood up from his chair and started walking towards her. By the twitch in his jaw she knew there was something wrong, she just wasn't sure what it was.
"Felicity," he said, standing right in front of her, "is there anything you forgot to mention?"
She frowned, "Uhm... I don't think so. I've checked your schedule, you have no meetings this afternoon. I gave you all the numbers you've asked and I double checked them. And about the other thing... I haven't found Slade yet, but I'll go to the lair tonight to work on it."
"There is nothing else you think you should tell me?" he said, and for some reason the tone of his voice rubbed her the wrong way.
"No, nothing I can think of. But this would go a lot faster if you just came out and said whatever you want to say," she told him, putting her hand on her hips.
"Are you dating Bruce Wayne?"
She huffed, "I can't see how that is something I should tell you. I know we are friends but who I date is none of your business until I decide to tell you."
"So it's true? And you weren't going to tell me?" he asked, a little shocked.
"I would tell you eventually."
"You're supposed to tell me this kind of thing Felicity; I have to know."
"No, you don't," she insisted, before going to sit on her desk. "Bruce is part of my personal life. Besides, it's not like you announced you were dating Sara to us. One day I just walk in and you two were making out - pretending to be sparring - on the mats. Not exactly the picture I want to see when I go to work for free on my second job after a hard day of work."
Oliver had the decency of looking slightly ashamed, "We were going to tell you..."
"So was I. Eventually," she sighed, going though some papers. "Anyway, how did you find out?"
"Thea mentioned something about you and Bruce being on some gossip magazine. I thought it was just gossip until she showed me the pictures."
"Uhm... yeah... we didn't notice when those were taken," Felicity blushed thinking back at the pictures that were taken of them kissing and the fact they were all over the internet for anyone to see now.
"You two looked busy," Oliver commented bitterly and Felicity glared at him.
"Well, if that was it, then I should get back to work. And so should you."
"You haven't really answered my question," he pointed out.
"What was your question?"
"Are you really dating Bruce Wayne? Or were those pictures from just one date and nothing is really going on?"
Felicity stopped going through papers and looked back at him with a small smile, "We're dating. We'll go public soon, I think."
Oliver froze for a moment before becoming enraged, "Are you crazy? You can't date him! He's just a bratty playboy who is playing you-"
Felicity suddenly stood up and raised her hand in a sign for him to stop, "First, I'm sure I know Bruce much better than you do. Second, and pay attention to this, I don't need your permission! I can date whoever I want and you have nothing to do with that. And third, I didn't ask for you opinion. When we found out you were dating Sara I didn't go to you telling how crazy that was. I didn't remind you that she is you ex-girlfriend's sister, that you have a lot of baggage with that family or that she is an assassin - from the League of Assassins - and it should go without saying but dating assassins is not generally a good idea."
"It's different-"
"You're right, your case is way worse than mine." Felicity sat back down and sighed, "Oliver, I get that you are trying to be a friend or whatever but we need boundaries, and this is one of them. I need you to respect my decisions even if you don't agree with them. I'm with Bruce and it's not up for discussion."
She could see Oliver tensing and clenching his hands, but in the end he just answered, "Fine. But be careful," before turning around and marching back to his office, slamming the door behind him.
It was a little after six and Felicity was walking to her car when her cell rang. She reached one hand inside her purse to get her cell while opening her car door with the other. As soon as she sat in her car and closed the door, she smiled looking at Bruce's name on her cell's screen.
"Hey!"
"Hello, beautiful. How was your day?"
"It was good. I'm leaving the office now to go to that other thing."
"Right. And do you know what time you'll be done with that?"
She sighed, "I'm not sure. This is important to me. I can't just tell them "hey, I have a date with my boyfriend, I'll help you catch the criminal tomorrow?""
He chuckled and she frowned.
"Do you think this is funny?" she asked a little pissed off.
"I think this is the first time you called me boyfriend."
Felicity was thankful Bruce couldn't see her blushing through the phone. "Well, yeah, since we're dating I guess that means you're my boyfriend and I'm your girlfriend. Right?" she asked a little unsure, while fidgeting with her hands.
"Yes, that's exactly what it means. And I wouldn't ask my girlfriend to postpone catching a criminal. I was just wondering... what if I picked you up at Verdant and we hang out there for a while. It would be our first official public appearance, we could have a drink and dance and maybe you could even introduce me to your friends?"
Felicity's smile grew, "That's actually a pretty good idea. I can't be sure what time I'll be done but if there are no new criminals to chase tonight, I'll probably be free a little after ten."
"Then I'll go to the club at ten and you come meet me whenever you're done. Take care of yourself, beautiful."
"You too. Bye."
The team had been in the lair for a couple of hours when Felicity looked around observing each of them. Oliver was climbing the salmon ladder, Sara was working out with a punching bad and Diggle and Roy was sparring on the mats. When Felicity arrived at the lair they all had been training already and since apparently Starling City criminals had taken some vacation, they decided to spend the rest of evening training for their inevitable battle against Slade.
Felicity looked back at her computer screen and sighed, knowing that someone had to bring up the subject sooner or later and seemed it would have to be her. She cleared her throat to call everyone's attention and once they were all looking at her she started, "Guys, I think I might have found a way to track Slade down."
In a moment Oliver had jumped down and everyone approached Felicity's desk.
Oliver was the first to ask, "How?"
"Well, since I helped Batman I've been thinking about how Slade finances this whole revenge he has planned... Slade disappeared after Oliver shot an arrow through his eye but now he is back and apparently he has a lot of money to get his whole operation going. So, how did he get the money? I've been doing some research and I've noticed a few months after Oliver thought he killed Slade there were some assassination with Slade's MO. The victims didn't seem to have anything in common but the hits were obviously professional. I think Slade worked as a hitman for a while."
"Can you be sure of that?" Diggle questioned.
"I can't be 100% sure right now but I really think I'm right about this. Anyway, I did some research and I've figured out who would get the most out of these assassinations and found some big transfer made from these people's accounts to another account. I think they were payments to Slade for his... work. If I can follow the money from then to now I think I might be able to find out what Slade is spending his money on and where he is right now."
"There are a lot of ifs in there," Sara commented.
Felicity shrugged, "Still, it seems to be the best option right now. Unless you have another suggestion."
Sara glared but didn't say anything.
"Where are you in this whole plan?" Oliver asked, relieved they finally had a clue even if it seemed to be a long shot.
"I've found the account I believe Slade used a couple of years ago. He isn't stupid, so he didn't keep his money in the same place for long. It'll probably take me another couple of night until I find out where he has been spending his money on and what is his current account. But once I find out I can hack it and leave him penniless, which will probably enrage him and make him come after us a lot faster. Though I haven't decided if that's a good idea or not yet."
Oliver smiled at her and put a hand on her shoulder, "Good job, Felicity," he said, ready to go back to training.
"Uhm... there is something else I think we should talk about, actually."
He raised his eyebrows in curiosity, "And what is it?"
"Well, I think we're getting pretty close to finding Slade, so the question now is: what will we do once we find him?"
Everyone froze, apparently only now realizing they hadn't discussed about it.
"We kill him," Sara suddenly responded, in a matter-of-fact tone, breaking the silence and bringing even more tension to the conversation.
"We don't kill people anymore," Diggle countered. "That was one of the rules we agree on when Felicity and I started working with Oliver."
"There is no other option. You don't know Slade. With the serum there is no way to stop him unless he is dead. And he won't stop until we are all dead. It's very simple: it is either him or us."
Roy scratched the back of his neck, "I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the idea of killing someone."
"We are not killing anyone," Oliver finally said and Sara turned to him somewhere between shocked and angry.
"We don't have any other option. You know he won't stop until he kills everyone we care about. And then he will come after us."
"There is always another option," Oliver tried to reason.
"I will not let him go after my sister and my father. I'm not going to put them in risk so we can save some crazy killer who is after us."
"Uhm..." Felicity cut in, "I'm not trying to judge or anything, but you and Oliver were killers until very recently. And for the crazy part... well that's questionable."
"He is crazy," Sara told her with conviction.
"Oh, no, I agree. I was talking about you and Oliver not being completely right minded while you still thought it was okay to just kill whoever you believed to deserve it."
There was an awkward silence that lasted way too long until Diggle finally couldn't stand it anymore.
"Maybe we should put it to vote."
"And what would be the options?" Sara questioned. "To kill or not to kill Slade? Well, what will we do with him if he stays alive? There is no prison in the world that he couldn't scape. It would be just a matter of time until he comes after us again."
Oliver sighed, "I could go to ARGUS. Ask for their help. Slade is as much of a problem for them as it is for us."
"You're being naive. The only way to stop Slade is to behead him," Sara insisted.
"Well, I think Diggle is right. We should vote. Who is in favor of killing Slade?" Felicity asked as if they were voting on what kind of food they would order.
"I am," Sara answered. The rest of the group remained quiet.
"Okay, four to one. I guess we are not beheading him. So, who agrees that Oliver should talk to ARGUS about what to do with Slade?
Felicity, Oliver and Diggle raised their hands.
"Roy?" Felicity questioned.
"I don't really know ARGUS, I don't think I can vote one way or another on this one."
"Either way, it's still three to two."
Oliver nodded, "I will try to get in contact with ARGUS while Felicity figures out where Slade really is. With some luck we may be able to get this over soon."
They all nodded and got back to what they were doing. As Felicity checked the time on her computer she noticed it was almost ten and Bruce should be arriving at any minute. And she couldn't wait to see him again.
