"I love you, you know?" Phil said out of nowhere, making Clint freeze.
Phil was never one to express his emotions like that, especially in front of others. Others, who were in some way, complete strangers to him.
"Are you not feeling okay? Is something wrong?" Clint asked worried.
Phil chuckled, running his fingers through Clint's hair and then coming around to cup his face,
"I am fine, or as fine as I could be with all these tubes and machines attached to me. I just figured that I have been never been very vocal about my feelings for you, and a near-death experience, inevitably, gives you perspective on what's more important in life. For me, in my life, nothing is more important than you, Clint."
"Phil…"
"No. I know. Work has been my priority for a long time, even after we started dating, even after we got married, but trust me, you have always been the most important part of my life, I just never had it in me to express it to you. But I don't want to hold back anymore. I love you, Clint. And I'm sorry, that you have become so used to me not saying these things, that you think I might be sick, when I finally start telling you."
"You don't have to, Phil. I have always known you love me." Clint said, eyes filled with unshed tears.
"No. I know you know that. But… because of my selfish reasons, you didn't have anyone to share your grief with when you thought I was dead."
"That's not true, I had Nat. and Nick. And Jasper. Even Maria. I don't need many people in my life, Phil. You know that. I am more than happy with the people I do have in my life. And as long as I have you, I won't need anything or anyone. You are all I need, Phil. All I need."
"You're all i need too, Clint." Phil said, and then finally something registered in his brain and he looked at Tony, "Did you say months?"
A/N: We are finally coming to an end. I'm sorry I haven't updated in so long. i lost my notebook! when quarantne started, I moved back home, and somehow found it again, so here we are. Also, I will update the last 2 chapters in the next few days. Not too long now. And thak you for sticking with the story all this while.
