Hi everyone this is my first go at creating a Fanfiction ever. Hopefully it isn't terrible and I'll appreciate any feedback.

This is going to be a RWBY based fanfiction but with the aim of 16 years before Volume 1, their may be some characters from the actual series mentioned and of course set in the World of Remnant. Sorry to go on but my aim is to begin with short introductions of my own OC characters before I start the first chapter.

So without further delay, I'll begin.

-Jade-

As the last 5 minutes of Jade's last and final class at Signal Academy come to an end she can't help but remember her time studying there. The years spent at Signal were the best years of her life and thinking how they'll hopefully only get better.

Her good friends David and Julie had studied and trained along side her and the 3 had become besties ever since the 1st day they met. The trio would all be heading to Beacon for the next 4 years and hopefully on one day graduate and become Huntsman so they could travel the world together

Looking around the room and at her friends getting 1 last look the school she had accustomed to, remembering her teacher coming in each morning with his cup of coffee and saying "Good morning" in his usual bright chipper mood.

She knew Signal Academy would always be her 2nd home but now she would have a 3rd home at Beacon, wishing it would just be as fun at Signal or even better as she romanticized about becoming a Huntress and helping people in need.

Staring out the window as the bell tolled breaking her out of her daydream as she and her friends left Signal for the last time...

The break in between school semesters had flown by, still trying to keep up with training and helping out at her parents florist business but enjoying the break as much as she could with David and Julie.

Jade had thought things will be perfect but it came to the day that David and Julie finally told her with 2 weeks left to go during the break that they were not going to be attending Beacon with her.

Jade wanted to be selfish, she wanted to take both her friends to Beacon, graduate with them and never lose them. The trio talked for hours, David's cousin had gotten both Julie and David a job working on a ship, despite being unqualified Huntsman but with their basic training that they learnt at Signal Academy they could help protect the ship from Grimm attacks but were employed to do maintenance.

The last few days she had spent with her friends, happy for them but hiding the sadness of seeing them go and couldn't wait till they docked back at Vale so she could see them again. She stayed at the pier until the ship was over the horizon after their goodbye, her friends were off on a new adventure and now she had to as well.

Jade spent the last couple of days with her parents knowing it would be hard for them to say goodbye to her even though Vale was a short airship voyage it wouldn't be the same with her gone out of the house. With a send off of her own, Jade boarded the Airship to Beacon Academy, looking down at Signal forever closing that chapter of her life and now on to the next...
