-Chapter 3- Dysfunctional?

Each team had been appointed a Dorm room and as the newly appointed Team JADE walked in they found all their bags stacked neatly in the middle of the room. 4 single beds, a bathroom all 4 would have to share. Everyone got their bags and all chose a bed however you could feel the tension in the room was as strong as the silence as nobody dared talk.

Jade knew that she needed to get her team talking before even attempting to asking them to be a team.

Eada sat on her bed looking out the window, not liking her team which consisted of a filthy faunus, a girl nowhere near her standing and somehow appointed leader and the guy that she cost her the position as leader. She glared angrily at him and Austin returned the glare right back to her.

Jade then bit the bullet breaking the silence as she started to attempt in trying to get everyone get along and at least get to know each other first and possibly they'd become friends even though she thought to herself that would be a miracle just looking at the duo.

Daisy looked at Austin hoping she'd see his friendly smiling face like the day before when she apologized bumping into him but saw anger directed at Eada. Daisy had remembered Eada being the one to let her know just by her actions which was more of a warning to not even look at her bags when they slept in the atrium, she hoped Eada would try get to know her and not just judge her based off her heritage.

As Jade began trying to keep things peaceful Eada snapped at Jade for just trying to get everyone friendly with each other, Daisy got some courage protecting her first friend ever and raising her voice at Eada trying to help her new best friend and try act as a team.

Eada could not believe how she was talked to in such a manner especially from a faunus and begins to try berate Daisy who shrinks back down despite being 6'0ft as her confidence disappears but before Jade can try to stop the argument Austin yells at Eada about her closed mind and scolds her by saying "Jade and Daisy are trying to include you as part of a team".

Jade and Daisy watch on as Eada turns her attention to Austin claiming he cost her the position of leader as Austin rebuttals with facts that she was the last person to the ruins, the person who dragged her feet, complained and to top it off expected that she shouldn't need to do that just because she is rich and social standing.

The argument escalates which has Daisy pulling a page from Jade's book and tries to get in between Eada and Austin to calm them down as the argument could most likely be heard in the entire building. Austin takes a step back but continues to argue with Eada and Eada pushes Daisy aside rudely to keep arguing with Austin.

This was the final straw for Jade as she stepped up to Eada and Austin and slapping them both in the face which got them to quiet down, still angry but shocked to see Jade with a look of anger on hers. As she raises her voice however firm instead of angry giving her first orders as she gets everyone to sit on their bed and wishes that everyone would put aside any differences and try to get to know each other.

Daisy agreed with Jade ready to act as a team and after Austin looked around the room he sat on his bed, relaxed and gestured to Jade that she has his full attention. Eada takes a few minutes before reluctantly rolling her eyes and muttering "Fine". Jade now knew that Eada will be the main problem but got the feeling that Austin was one not to take lightly feeling that he and Eada will not be besties anytime soon.

Jade then asks the most safe easiest question she can think of and asks the team where they are from and starts by telling her new team that she is from Vale. Daisy happy to have a civil conversation goes first and tells the team she is from a town called Higanbana in Mistral.

Austin then announces he is from Vacuo but once upon a time he once lived in Atlas as Eada stands up and puts her hands on her hips, chin up delivering a well rehearsed eloquent speech "I hail from a very wealthy family in the best Kingdom in Remnant and that place is Atlas" turning to Austin "Too bad you couldn't keep living there"

Austin annoyed and more angry then ever now but for the sake of the team bit his tongue and only came back by saying he had a better life in Vacuo and Atlas was just a city of lien with no morals and racism being their no.1 association when people thought of Atlas.

Eada then tried to get back at Austin but didn't know exactly what to say as she tried to come up with an insult but failed, uncertain if she should Jade then got everyone to say a little bit about themselves and why they wanted to attend Beacon.

Daisy and Jade were an open book, Eada seemed to be an open novel as she had to describe everything in such great detail when it didn't need to be but it did reveal to the team how she was trying to track down her long lost twin brother. Austin mentioned he originally wanted to be a musician but events of his life led him down the path to becoming a Huntsman being very particular with his words.

Jade congratulated everyone for remaining peaceful and had a new objective now which was deciding on who will get what bed and unpacking/decorating. Eada basically demanded that she will keep the bed she is sitting on which was by the window while Daisy, Jade and Austin just shrugged and kept the beds they had been sitting on during the conversation.

The team then got discussing about rules on noise level, knocking on the door of the bathroom being the obvious one etc. Things were going great until Eada pointed to Austin "How do you expect me to share a room with him?" stating that he may try peek on her changing. Austin just got a look of exhaustion already annoyed with Eada now this. Daisy and Jade both claim it's a bit of a fair point but explains that we all need to build trust and going about it the wrong way.

Austin swears he'll be polite and wouldn't dare try be a creep, Daisy and Jade have faith but Eada still high on her own ego thinks not as she then goes on how she is the heiress to her family name and can't have any chance of being spied upon or rumours she is hooking up with a team mate and claims to be a 10.

Austin was doing his best to remain friendly and trying to convince Eada he had no such intentions. However everyone had their limits as Austin then replies to Eada, "Get over yourself, some people may see you as a 10 however in my eyes you are a -10, I look for inner beauty and an open mind which is something you lack being so shallow".

Picking up his bag Austin announces he has had enough and will sleep somewhere else tonight leaving before Eada could make a comeback. Jade goes after Austin who tries to convince him to come back but Austin has made up his mind stating it'll take time for him to even consider being friends with Eada as he tells Jade to keep it to herself that he actually knows Eada from a long time ago.

Jade reluctantly let's Austin head off as she returns to the dorm thinking about what Austin said. In that time Daisy had asked Eada if there were going to be any problems between them which had Eada shocked but the two eventually came to an understanding that they would be team mates but in no way will it make them friends.

The 3 girls unpack and continue to create small talk among themselves as Jade and Daisy bond more before they all go to sleep as they had class in the morning messaging Austin that he needed to be in class on time.

Austin had went to talk to Professor Ozpin, not about the team but about what Qrow had told him as Ozpin informed Austin more of their hidden part time job as Qrow had put it. Afterwards Austin went back to the tree he first slept in the first night there and did the exact same thing as the previous night going to bed only returning to the dorm early in the morning for a shower before class.

Team JADE seemed to head to class together but separated at the same time as Austin pulled up the rear keeping to himself, just ahead of him were Daisy and Jade talking and trying to work out ways to get everyone friendly towards each other and at the front by a good 5 metres is Eada as usual acting proper.

In class the 4 sat next to each other because they were the only 4 seats left, Professor Port started teaching the class and giving them a wild story of one of his latest adventures that actually landed him a job teaching, recognized for his skill by Professor Ozpin.

As Professor Port went on with his lecture Austin managed to take notes of Professor Port's fighting he described in the story which seemed a bit exaggerated, however aimed to possibly learn a new technique or upgrade his combat knowledge knowing each Professor was a trained Huntsman so studying any little bit of them just may happened to help.

A loud buzzer goes off right in between Professor Port's story which has him apologizing seeming they are out of time and tells the class to cover the assigned readings and will continue next class. Some students seem a bit stunned by the lecture but as team JADE headed out of the classroom they still seemed to be apart with Austin walking off, Eada putting her social skills to work and mingling with some other rich kids as Daisy and Jade talk to each other about the lecture they just had on the way to the lunchroom.

Austin got a sandwich and headed into the training arena as he sat among the crowd watching 4th year students train. While he is watching them fight taking notes on each person's fighting style and coming up with ways how he could possibly block or find an opportunity to strike as he eats his lunch. Eada heads off to the library to study while Jade and Daisy are back at the dorm still going over potential ideas of how to get the team functioning.

It's only been 24 hours but Jade knew she didn't want her team to be dysfunctional if she could help it.
