Light and X walked to their mansion with the unconscious blond in tow as fast as they could. X was on the verge of tears every time he looked at the blond's gentle face so close to death. The two hurried into the mansion, scrambling to find a room to rest the blond in. "Quickly, make some soup on the double!" Light shouted to the cooks in the kitchen as they passed by.

Light and X got Zero into a bed quickly and carefully. Light managed to deactivate Zero's armor before carefully undressing him with the exception of his boxers. Zero's clothes were covered in blood and dirt. "Stay with him, X. I'll be back with some clean clothes for him." Light told X. X nodded. "I'm not leaving his side." His father had no time to look at Zero's strange features, but X looked Zero over slowly. The blond's arms from his elbow down were pitch black as were his legs from his knees down. The brunette also noticed a large unhealed black scar in the center of Zero's chest, slowly stroking the scar. Zero's left hand slowly and shakily grabbed X's hand, holding it over his chest. X could feel Zero's very slow heartbeat. Zero's eyes opened, showing nearly white but light blue eyes, pale from weakness. He slowly turned his head towards X, breathing hard. X saw deep black rings around Zero's eyes, accentuating his eyes and noticing Zero's eyelids were pitch black too. The brunette took Zero's hand shyly in his. 'Please...stay with us. Our cooks are getting soup ready and my father is fetching clean clothes for you. Stay with me a little while.' Zero didn't respond. He gripped X's hand a little tighter before closing his eyes again and dropping his head on the pillow.

Light and the cooks came in at the same time, bearing clothes and a bowl of soup on a plate. X reluctantly let go of Zero's hand. Light picked up the clean shirt first. "Zero, can you hear me? Can you sit up?" Zero's eyes opened halfway as he very slowly picked his upper body up. Light carefully put the shirt on him before Zero dropped himself back down. X took the bowl of soup, stirring it gently. "Can you pick up your lower body?" Light asked. Zero did as he was told, letting Light carefully slide on the pants. Light spied the black of Zero's legs and arms, even his scar. "Dr. Cain might've been right. There is something rather strange about you. We can figure that out later. For now, our main concern is your survival." X carefully dipped some soup out. "Please, Zero." Zero's eyes opened and his head lifted and leaned forward. X carefully fed Zero the soup, noticing large fangs in his mouth.

Light watched X feed Zero the soup with a sigh of relief. "Your clothes are being washed and dried. I'm in the process of fixing and modifying your armor. My son, X, will be here if you need anything. I do not know your temperment so I ask you to be kind to him." Zero nodded slowly as Light walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.

X carefully kept feeding Zero the soup. Zero slowly drank and ate the soup, starting to feel a bit better. After feeding Zero a whole bowl of soup, X got out a paper and pencil on a clipboard. He wrote something before showing it to Zero. "Can you read and write?" was written. Zero took the clipboard and pencil, writing something before showing X. "Of course I can." X smiled a little before taking his turn. "I never got to thank you for saving my life out there. I owe you my own life literally. How are you feeling?" The brunette wrote. Zero took his turn to write. "Think nothing of it. I feel a little more...alive, thanks to your soup." He wrote. X took his turn with a chuckle and shake of his head. "Its a big deal, seriously. I'm glad you're feeling a little better. My name is Xavier Light. You can call me X. My father is a retired doctor of robotics. I think he wants to fix and adjust your armor so you can communicate a little better. Can you really not talk?" He wrote. Zero nodded, taking his turn. "I can't talk. I'm a mute. I'm also a demon. I thank you and your father for your kindness. I am humbled. In the eyes of most, I'm but a common thief of the streets. I'm not worthy of kindness." The blond wrote. X shook his head again when it was his turn. "Nonsense. Even you deserve kindness. Are you willing to change your ways?" He wrote. Zero nodded when it was his turn. "Yes. I've turned against the local thugs. The one I killed in your defense was a mobster who was fond of going after rich people and demanding high ransoms. If the ransoms weren't paid, those people were killed. Not below the antics of the thug group I'm in. Please be careful when you go out next. I would defend you myself, but I don't know if I can or not." He wrote. X's eyes widened as he took his turn. "What happened to you? What of your group?" Zero paused before writing on his turn. "My father disowned me once he came to the human world. I was only 5 years old. I wasn't taught to speak, but I understand what is being said to me. I was sent to an orphanage where I was captured 7 years later by a delinquent group from the same orphanage. We were a group of thugs ever since, though most of our crimes were stealing and blackmail. I was only good for stealing until I messed up, getting caught for stealing raw meat from a butcher shop. The butcher shop owner called the police, forcing me to drop my haul and hide. When the heat was off, my group punished me by denying me food and water, leaving me in an alley to die, feeling I was useless. They felt it more cruel to let me wither away." X wiped tears from his eyes as he read Zero's words on the paper. "You poor thing. Unloved, left to wither...but why did you go along with the group initially?" He wrote. Zero took his turn with a shrug. "I thought that was what I was supposed to do. I thought as a demon I was supposed to be evil." X sniffled as he took his turn. "Just because everyone assumes demons are bad doesn't mean you have to be bad too. What powers do you have?" He wrote. Zero took his turn. "I can heal myself easily unless its mortal damage. I can sense the feelings harbored by someone closeby me. I can fly, and I have a degree of telekinesis. I believe that's it for now. I'm still learning my powers." X took the clipboard and pencil, setting them aside. He saw wings of red and black appear against Zero's sides as he carefully embraced Zero. "I believe you're meant for good. I have faith in you. Stay. We'll nurse you to health. And a proper chance at kindness and love." Zero picked up the clipboard and pencil telepathically and wrote before showing it to X. "Guide me down that path, Xavier. I'll stay for as long as you and your father will allow me."
