-Chapter 11- Field work, Part 2

As they were about to be overrun a blast came from behind the huddled group as some of Jade's old Professors from Signal Academy come to their aid as they were all qualified Huntsman and could put up a fight, Jade and Daisy helped carry Eada into a nearby home where some citizens let her rest on a bed. Jade told Daisy to stay with Eada and call if her condition got any worse as Jade picked up her weapon and went to help the others with the remaining Grimm. Getting outside she could see this swarm was more like an army but with no time to count she got straight into the fight.

It was very rare for Grimm numbers to be this big as Qrow, Austin and Jade kept the fight up with the 3 Professors from Signal Academy. Meanwhile as the fight drew on Daisy could only hope everyone was ok but had to focus on Eada right now, she seemed to be getting weaker as Daisy bandaged up her cuts but couldn't do much more than that as Eada could barely breathe.

Outside it was a different story, Jade and a couple of the Professors were really struggling, almost out of energy whilst it was Austin and Qrow stepping in front of them to protect them. The citizens of the town said they would look after Eada as they encouraged Daisy to go out and help join the fight, running into action she knew she had to help protect her team as she helped Austin defend the huddled group, after 10 minutes not used to fighting she had gotten exhausted. Daisy had tried her best but she had easily lost stamina and obtained a few hits which depleted her aura and as an Ursa knocked her weapon from her hand Jade jumped in front of Daisy to protect her.

Jade wasn't going to let another member be seriously injured as she put herself between Daisy and the attacking Ursa, Austin looked on too far away to help as he screamed "Nooooo!" A white light expelled from his eyes engulfing the whole area in it as all the Grimm evaporated as the light hit them leaving none alive. In an instant the Grimm were gone but at what cost as Austin fell to the ground unconscious, Daisy had fallen to her knees holding her right arm which was dislocated and Jade was on the ground looking at the tired Huntsman, her hurt friend before looking over to Austin.

Austin was still, as Qrow lifted him by the shirt and putting his ear to his mouth to hear if he was breathing, Jade crawled first before getting up and stumbling over checking on Austin herself, relieved to see him breathing but scared at how lifeless and unresponsive he was. Daisy made her way over and put her hand on Jade's shoulder as citizens came out to see it was clear but now it was their turn to spring into action as they helped the Huntsman carry the injured indoors and onto beds or tables and got them whatever they needed.

Qrow got in contact with Professor Ozpin while the Professors from Signal called for an emergency airship to take Eada and Austin to hospital. Jade and Daisy were getting checked by a local doctor and Jade held Daisy's hand as the doctor painfully pushed her arm back into place. Jade cringed as she heard her team mate and best friend cry out in pain, she hugged Daisy but had to know how Eada was. She got up refusing for the doctor to examine her as she headed into the room with Eada who was struggling to breathe and still unconscious.

She checked on Austin lastly, unconscious and unresponsive still with no signs of waking up, Jade felt guilty, she was the only one on her team to walk away without a substantial injury of some sort. Even though she was feeling guilty she ran a hand through Austin's hair wondering what exactly happened, she heard him cry out "Noooo!" and next was blinded by a shining bright light that seemed to kill every last Grimm but not hurt the other Huntsman. She had tears in her eyes as Daisy came into the room, arm in a sling just for pre-caution as she told Jade she needed to get checked.

Daisy held Jade's hand as she got checked by the doctor, with Daisy there she managed to stop her crying but still wasn't feeling good, Jade just needed rest as her aura was almost depleted. The airship arrived and medical professionals had Eada and Austin on stretchers as Jade, Daisy and Qrow boarded the airship headed for Vale. Qrow told Daisy and Jade that he'd report to Ozpin personally and told the two to stay with their team, at the hospital in Vale Daisy and Jade could only wait in the waiting room as Eada went one way and Austin another not allowed to see them.

Jade paced back and forth until Daisy got up and stopped her in her tracks, she told Jade to sit down asking what was wrong. Daisy found out that Jade was blaming herself for what had happened and worried Eada and Austin would die. Daisy hugged Jade reminding her that this was the risk of being a Huntress, not only that but trying to protect her team as best she could, if she ran away and abandoned them that would be a different story as she continued that Austin and Eada were stable and were in the best hands.

The two went silent but Jade needed that as the two remained arm in arm hugging each other, Daisy broke the silence as she thought she was crazy however to confirm she asked Jade about the bright light coming from Austin. Jade confirmed she saw it too as they looked at each other trying to figure out what actually happened, no way had they ever seen or heard about what they thought they'd seen. They kept focus on that conversation trying to come up with theories which helped get their minds at ease until they were told they could go see Austin and Eada as they were in the same room.

They quickly ran in finding Austin up out of his bed sitting on a chair next to Eada's bed, he looked back seeing his two team mates and smiled as Jade rushed over and hugged him tightly relieved he was ok as Daisy checked to see how Eada was doing. Austin mentioned she hadn't woken up yet but her ribs were broken, her body couldn't heal cause of her aura had been depleted, the doctors did everything they could and once her aura had recovered it should start healing her body. Jade and Daisy looked at Austin and had never seen him care for Eada as it was clear that he had placed himself next to the emergency button and hadn't really taken his eyes off her for more than a few seconds.

Daisy knew that Austin was just caring for his team mate but somehow she got the feeling of a somewhat deeper connection between Austin and Eada. Professor Ozpin walked in and as he requested some time alone with Austin it gave Daisy her time to ask as Jade whispered something to Austin before he left into the hallway with Ozpin. Jade put herself in Austin's position near the emergency button and held Eada's hand, Daisy held her left arm with her right hand, biting her lip she just had to ask if everything was ok between her and Austin.

Jade looked up at her friend confused and said everything was fine with her and Austin as Daisy started saying how it seemed like Austin had a deeper connection to Eada very quickly or she hadn't paid much attention and somehow became besties. Jade sighed, looking at Eada before back to Daisy she confessed there is something but she couldn't say however it wasn't anything for Daisy to worry about. Daisy nodded as she sat next to Jade, her arm around her friend waiting for Eada to wake up, Jade whispered into Daisy's ear that everything will be alright.

Austin returned, not smiling and keeping up his poker face as he tapped Jade on the shoulder saying it's her turn to talk to Ozpin, Jade got up as Austin grabbed her hand and just stared into her eyes seriously which was Austin's polite but discreet way of preparing her for bad news. As Jade left Austin sat next to Daisy and gave her a small nervous smile. Daisy needing to know the truth whispered to Austin that he better not have a thing going with Eada. Austin shook his head and asked how she got that idea, Daisy explained once more about the deeper connection he seemed to have with her.

Austin nodded along and confirmed he had changed his point of view on Eada but would never see her in that way, he told her to use her semblance just in case Eada may be awake and pretending to sleep to not freak her out. Daisy nodded the go ahead as Austin smiled basically mouthing the words that Eada was his sister, for any other human would have never heard that but the surprised reaction Daisy gave told Austin that she now knew as he stated and he would tell her when the timing is right and for her not to say anything.

Reluctantly agreeing not wanting to argue right now Jade returned back into the room as she called for Daisy to go see Ozpin. Austin looked over at Jade and using his eyes told Jade to go out with her for the news as Daisy walked along. Austin remained with Eada and when Jade and Daisy left that's when he grabbed Eada's hand again telling her that she needed to recover especially with the events and with some information she'd definitely want to know.

Outside in the hall Ozpin took Jade and Daisy into a small empty room, Daisy thought she and her team were in trouble so she stood up and started spurting off that the number of Grimm was bigger than any team of Huntsman could deal with, Ozpin stood calmly as Jade grabbed Daisy's hand and calmed her down and reassured her that they weren't in any trouble and in fact should be commended. Ozpin then took over as Jade held Daisy close as he bean telling her that Team TGRN were actually sent out for Search and Destroy but failed as the amount of Grimm was a too large number.

Daisy listened on confused as she wasn't expecting Team TGRN to fail or even hear about their mission as Ozpin continued that they were close to their position in Patch which is why her team was overrun. Team TGRN and their Huntsman with them got out but not without injuries and an unfortunate death of Gretchen Rainhart. Daisy's ears shot up, her eyes widened in shock before the tears fell, Jade hugged her best friend as Ozpin knew Team JADE and especially Daisy was close with the other team as he to was sorry this happened.

Daisy got up and demanded that she needed to be with the rest of Team TGRN and Ozpin showed her and Jade to the floor below them as Jade sent a message to Austin on his scroll that she had to look after Daisy and he'd have to do for Eada. After a ride in the elevator that seemed to take forever she found the room of Team TGRN, Nell had a cast on her left arm, Tiger and Ray seemed to be fine despite having a few bandages themselves. They looked up, tears in their eyes just like Daisy as Daisy ran to them and joined their hug.

Jade stood by quite upset herself but had to remain strong for Daisy and it was Daisy that was very close with them. Ray looked at Jade with tears in her eyes, nodding to her in a way of thanks for telling Daisy and not jumping into the hug to, It was Daisy that was super close with the team. Jade left the room and sat on a seat in the hallway, Ozpin sat next to her and assured her she was doing the right thing. In the floor above them Eada stirred and opened her eyes, sitting up groggily with a bit of pain in her chest as she looked to her right finding Austin as he said "good morning".
