-Chapter 12- The truth

It had been 2 weeks since the death of Gretchen Rainhart, Team TGRN would never be the same again, Tiger had tried reaching out to Gretchen's brother which was an ultimate backfire. He had a deep hatred but it wasn't directed at Tiger or her other team members, Hazel had left and hadn't come back to Vale to the best of their knowledge. Team TGRN were permitted some time off to mourn their lost team mate and Daisy was also there for them to, she felt she had gotten close to each of them and now one of them was just gone.

Jade on the other hand didn't allow herself to rest or grieve as she took it upon herself to be there for Team TGRN and Daisy. Austin went back to Patch to complete the mission for his team, now with no threat of Grimm he and Qrow talked as they strengthened the perimeter of the village. Upon returning he spent all his spare time training and studying, he got the answers he was looking for from Professor Ozpin but he didn't have the knowledge to teach him how to harness his gift so he kept researching anything he could find linked with silver eyes. Eada had healed finally and back on the mend, the team still attended classes but were always on hand if Team TGRN needed anything.

It was Eada seeking out Austin one day when he was training by himself as she knew there was something he wanted to tell her. As Austin practiced his technique of his base attacks, Eada stood by the door arms crossed as she spoke loudly to Austin to get his attention saying that she wasn't interested in him in that way. Austin stopped and looked at her with an expression of annoyance and a bit of disgust. He withdrew his blades and put his weapon on his back, wiping the sweat from his face with a towel approaching Eada and reminding her once again that he'd never see her like that.

Eada just glared at him knowing he had something to say and wanted for him to spit it out already. Austin told her to take an hour and think if she really wanted to know something that would change and possibly complicate things depending on reactions, telling Eada to meet him on the roof if she decides to hear the truth as he leaves. Austin headed back to the Dorm to get cleaned up and retrieve something as he then made the way to the roof where he and Jade come to train or talk. Finding Eada already staring out at the horizon Austin stood next to her taking the horizon in opening the conversation how it was unfortunate about Gretchen.

The two agreed and after a few minutes Eada then blurted out that she knows about the bright light that came from him but Austin was quick to deter the conversation away from that even though he didn't care if she knew or not but couldn't keep this going forever, the longer it took to tell Eada the more difficult the truth may be to accept. Austin grabbed her hand and looked into Eada's eyes showing her he was serious as he then mentioned that it may be hard to accept but told her that he knew where her brother was.

Eada's eyes widened, she had wanted to ask Austin since he was from Vacuo and maybe he knew her brother or heard something. She asked him where but all Austin did was put a necklace in her hand and step back saying her brother was in front of her. Eada was shocked, stunned, her mind was overthinking things, asking if he was serious, asking if this was some type of sick joke or maybe he had him on his scroll waiting to talk. Looking down at her hand though she saw the necklace she had worn as a kid.

Remembering the day in Vacuo she had to take the necklace off before swimming, she had left the water first and forgot the necklace as her mother had left early with her telling her Austin and her Father would meet them shortly. She looked into his eyes and demanded him to answer honestly as she asked if he was actually her brother and if he actually ran away. Austin frowned, his silver eyes showed anger but his expression was calm, telling her the story of getting out of the water finding only his bag and her necklace in the sand. He produced the note showing Eada and with one look at the note she saw her Father's handwriting.

She looked at Austin, tears welling up as she bean to cry, her voice breaking as she hugged him saying "you are my brother". Austin embraced her as she apologized for not realizing before, she tried her best to convince Austin that she looked for him, Austin knew she did and of course knew their parents wouldn't of told Eada the truth. Breaking the hug though after a few long minutes Eada wiped her eyes asking what happens now. Austin just shrugged as Eada looked at him confused asking if he wanted to see his parents.

Austin said he'd love to see his parents so Eada pulled out her scroll to call them but Austin stopped her and with no hint of a stutter or sadness said that they weren't his parents gesturing to the scroll, he went on by saying he is an Avery and will never be a Vendetta. Austin stepped away, they had just gotten so close, she had found her brother, she had always wanted to find her brother but understood why he didn't want to see them let alone come back to the family, she just had to ask what was his plans when her family came to visit in a few weeks.

Looking away Austin gave his answer stating that they weren't his parents or ever deserve to be parents to begin with. Eada then tried to convince Austin to perhaps telling them so he could get answers for what they did and that their may be a good reason, he scoffed before turning back to Eada stating he did not give a crap about them, they would be strangers to him and wants nothing to do with them. Eada thought she had all the cards in her hand as she then tried to blackmail Austin by threatening to tell her parents first.

Her smirk was her trademark, she had gotten away with all sorts of stuff growing up and with the information she now held thought she had him, that is until Austin just let out a small fake laugh before looking into her eyes and telling her to tell them, even if they were right here he wouldn't give if a crap if they knew and how they probably wouldn't care anyway. The two glared at each other as Eada asked him why out of all this time reveal himself as her brother now, Austin began by stating fact after fact about when they first met, only until recent that he thought that she was becoming a better person showing signs of growth.

Throwing the topic of growth back into his face grasping at the short straw of how little he had grown ever since coming here but Austin defended himself saying he wasn't a spoilt, obnoxious, racist brat that only got into Beacon cause of her Daddy's lien. Continuing that he sacrificed his potential in his music career to become a Huntsman and she was lucky that she didn't know of something that would crush her mind. The argument heated up, second by second it grew louder as they shouted at each other.

Jade was the first to hear along with other students listening to the big commotion they were making, Jade ran to the roof entrance to see what she could do. Eada on the other hand had something else in mind as she slapped Austin, Austin smirked and told her if she was going to hit him then actually try saying she had a free shot if she wanted to go. Eada thought for a second but gave into her anger as she punched Austin square in the nose. The impact didn't do much as he had kept his word and didn't try block or dodge her attack.

Eada tried to strike again but Austin dodged easily, she kept trying to punch and kick, none of her attacks could land as Austin didn't even need to block calmly just stepping to the side, mocking her with a yawn which made her more furious. After a minute Austin got bored so ending it in a swift trip of the leg when she was off balance, instead of letting her fall to the ground he caught her by the arm twisting it behind her back. Pain went through to her shoulder and her ribs which weren't back to 100% yet.

Austin let her go saying to drop it as she had no chance against him and if he wanted to tell her parents about him then she was welcome to, he began walking away as Eada charged at him, Austin knew it was coming swiftly performing a roundhouse kick landing right on the side of Eada's head had her fall to the ground, Austin stood at the ready for her to strike again telling her if she attacked then he would only dodge, block or detain if she kept this up. Eada attacked Austin, first blocking her punch then dodging her kick not turning his back on her.

Jade arrived as Eada kept attacking Austin, he was losing patience and was planning on taking action to detain her but Jade bet her to it as she tackled Eada to the ground yelling at her to remind her that they were team mates. Whipping around to Austin telling him that to and just because they were dating he wasn't going to get away with it to. Jade tried her best to calm them both down and find out what was happening as Eada and Austin were more focused on each other even though Jade stood between them.

Austin then glared at Eada but talking to Jade calmly mentioning he told Eada the truth, Jade didn't expect that as Eada looked confused at Jade asking her if she knew and didn't tell her. Jade nodded but defended that she promised not to tell and tried to convince Austin to tell her, Eada kind of understood but it didn't help when Austin piped up saying Daisy knew as well and asked her how many Austin's she knew from Vacuo that had silver eyes.

Eada stared Austin down, Jade knew she had to get them apart so trying it for the first time she put her hand on Eada's shoulder using her semblance, she teleported herself and Eada into the hallway on the floor below. Eada was stunned, she had just teleported as Jade blocked her path leading back to Austin as she sent Austin a message on his scroll to sleep in the tree tonight and would talk to him about this tomorrow. She then took Eada back to the dorm to talk some sense into her and knew some time away from each other would do them good.

She calmed Eada down and got her to tell her the events of her side of the story and by the end of it she managed to convince Eada that Austin may need time to possibly see her parents and reminded her that he was trying to connect with her telling her the truth that he was her brother. She apologized to Jade for her behavior and Jade apologized for not telling her as Jade reminded her they couldn't afford to fight each other now, Team TGRN had just lost a team member and they needed to be there for them.

Eada nodded, agreeing with Jade as the two headed to bed, Austin slept in the tree he had slept in so many times before and Daisy clearly sleeping over another night with Team TGRN.
