-Chapter 20- 2nd Year

Team JDTE had finished the last couple of months of their 1st year, getting by as they coped with the death of Gretchen and Austin. There was a short break before the girls would return to their studies and so the team had split up to be with their other family and friends. Eada had returned to Atlas, however her home wasn't the same anymore, she had grown a lot in the year she had been at Beacon. Walking through the halls being greeted by so much staff as they offered to take her suitcase or ask if she needed a drink or something to eat.

She politely refused just now donning how horrible she used to be, remembering so many times of being lazy and having people do everything for her. Another thing about the staff that really didn't sit right was 95% of staff were faunus, it hit her suddenly, the memory of her final night here before attending Beacon how she fired a rabbit faunus just for bringing someone a wrong drink. Burning into her brain as she hurried out the room crying and humiliated while she and others laughed at her expense.

Eada felt guilty so in her room she summoned one of her staff and got straight to asking who the faunus with rabbit ears was. Most of the them didn't know until one of them suggested to look at the books as they should have a history of employees and employee payments. Eada thanked each staff member she had talked to as she tried her best to appear friendly and not hostile, she could tell how the staff carried themselves around her as if they made even a sneeze without permission their job would be gone.

Eada made sure to apologize to every staff member when talking to them to and told them that she had gone through a lot of personal growth with the help of her team and friends along with her brother. All the staff loved Austin while he was growing up as he was the only member of the Vendetta family that was actually kind to them, when Eada told them that she found him they got excited but the excitement was wiped away as Eada told them the story what happened. She looked through the archive of staff and finally found the rabbit faunus she humiliated.

Her name was Crystal and she lived down in Mantle, Eada stared at her picture, the look on her face was so eye opening, just like all the other staff their headshot was all one expression and that was fear, fear of working for a Vendetta. Printing out the address Eada took an airship to Mantle as her parents worked like always, while Eada was back she wasn't going to do any work for the family business as she just wanted to relax a little before going back to study, she wanted to right wrongs she did and spend time with her family but she knew the last was very unlikely.

Once in Mantle Eada set to walk to Crystal's home, it led her into more of a depressing area, finally coming to her address she opened the gate and walked up to the door knocking on it gently, nervous wondering if Crystal would remember her. Thinking to herself she erased the question as she knew she would recognize her, the only thing Eada could ask was Crystal going to forgive her?. The door opened up and she was face to face with Crystal who looked a little worse for wear as Eada introduced herself.

Crystal blurted out rudely that she knew who Eada was then asked what she wanted. Eada shut her eyes and asked if she could come in as Crystal let her in warning her that her place couldn't be clean or big like a mansion. In the lounge there were toys on the ground indicating that Crystal had a kid or kids as she apologized for the mess. Eada sat down and shook her head saying she was the only one that needed to apologize. Eada began her apology, saying sorry for multiple times but most importantly the way she fired her.

Crystal couldn't believe it, she had Eada Vendetta apologizing to her as Crystal got the bare minimum payout for being laid off. Not exactly sure if this would be something of interest but opening up her cheque book she gave Crystal 10,000 Lien and apologized once more. Telling the story about Austin and how she had grown in the past year. Eada also gave Crystal her number to keep in touch and be a reference if she ever applied for a job but warned her to stay away from her family cause her parents were the same and she'd be back at Beacon shortly which Crystal appreciated.

Jade had spent a week with her parents in Vale but after the first week she hopped on a cruise with her best friends from Signal. David and Julie had applied for some time off and the 3 caught up with each other as they shared the biggest hug ever, they had left Vale and were on their way to Menagerie first then would be heading to Mistral back to Vale so Jade would be back in time to start her 2nd year. It had been tough without David and Julie but their relationship was strong as they even talked about Austin with her.

She had been missing Austin more and more, regretting what she said last, even though everyone told her it wasn't her fault. She just wished that she could of fixed things between them before he died. David and Julie shared a look that Jade didn't notice but they asked how the rest of her team was and and talked about the addition of Tiger. Jade spent hours talking about her team, the member that she seemed to talk about most was Daisy, her face brightened each time she spoke about her.

It got to a point where David and Julie looked to Jade needing to talk as they knew what was going on as Daisy had reached out to them secretly. Daisy had asked them plainly that if she should wait for Jade or move on or if even the fact if Jade liked girls, David and Julie promised not to tell but even they couldn't get a clear answer out of Jade when they were at Signal, they promised Daisy that they'd help her out, only talking on their scroll they could hear Daisy's confusion in her voice not knowing what to do.

So David just casually mentioned how things were going with Daisy, Jade blushed a little and smiled widely as she said she was fine and wouldn't be lonely as she stayed with Tiger and would be helping Nell and Ray. Julie then had to press on just stating that Jade really seemed to like her company, Jade was defensive she agreed they liked to spend time together as friends just like Eada, Nell, Tiger... David cut her off saying she didn't need to list all her friends but really called Jade out by telling her that she really seemed interested in Daisy.

Jade denied even further pretending not to know what they were talking about as Julie rolled her eyes and just claiming that Jade liked Daisy, Jade tried to stammer a response as a friend and could never like girls in that way with Julie just answering Jade by asking her the time she kissed her. Jade then said it was a dare when they were just messing around, Julie then told Jade that 30 seconds followed by an attempt at 2nd base was not just messing around. David chimed in when Jade went quiet stating they were only trying to help her.

Julie continued that they'd still love her if she liked girls, she needed to think and not only that they continued to talk about Daisy. Jade was worried when they mentioned Daisy as they began explaining that she had been subconsciously been giving Daisy mixed signals recently, Daisy had no idea if Jade wanted to be friends or ask her out. They then got up after telling Jade that they'd give her all night to think about it before they arrived in Menagerie, Jade thanked them as she started to think through the past year and if she truly liked girls or maybe it was just Daisy.

Tiger and Daisy had remained in Vale, helping Nell and Ray to not let boredom take over their continued studying and training, not only did they train together everyone seemed to forget Tiger was ranked 14th among the 1st Year students back in the Combat tournament and she had greatly improved since then. Daisy learnt quite a lot from Tiger both having an identical fighting style, Daisy had been missing Jade but each time she wanted to text her Tiger was there not as a rude blocker but as her friend not wanting to see Daisy lose it over replies or the worst case, no replies.

Daisy held to her word promising she wouldn't text Jade for the first week while away, Tiger did say it'll help make her miss Daisy and hopefully see it in a good way. One night Tiger and Daisy had been in the restaurant helping Ray and Nell as they helped do some dishes, pack up tables they all chatted away. The topic came to Jade and Daisy somehow and everyone was wanting to know when Daisy planned on asking out Jade. Daisy told them all to slow down, Austin was still fresh and she just stopped talking, shrugging she continued sweeping.

The room was silent as everyone got back to work, Tiger, Ray and Nell all looked at each other really concerned as they all asked Daisy what was wrong. Daisy sighed and just came out with the truth saying she's going to leave Jade alone, it's been a year, she is still getting over Austin and she's still in the same place in line she had always been, also adding having no idea if she was into girls in the first place and in fact she can be there for Jade as a friend and she can be happy. Nell then asked if that made her happy.

Daisy took a deep breath and nodded saying she would then and in that way she wouldn't be clinging to Jade all the time, Nell and Ray accepted her answer as Tiger just didn't want to let it go trying to encourage Daisy that it could still happen. Daisy shook her head telling Tiger that she was going to use this time away from Jade to get over her even though Daisy knew she was lying to herself as she couldn't do that very thing all year. When the night was over Daisy headed back to Beacon while Tiger stayed with Nell and Ray.

Back in their dorm Daisy walked into the empty room, looking at the photos on the wall of Team TGRN, JDTE and JADE, always focusing on Jade, she had helped Jade search for Austin when the area was all clear, she really wanted Jade to be happy even at her own expense as she wished Austin would show up. She had been back by herself and actually found his scroll thinking it could be his but it was a fair distance from the cliff where she found it and nobody really went out there, severely water logged and beat up but Daisy did her best trying to somehow get the memory chip working again.

It had been a couple of weeks and Daisy had tried her best getting over Jade, she still worked at Austin's scroll but today she was helping Ray and Nell with Tiger. Being a public holiday they volunteered their time to help as friends working for free to serve customers. With waitress experience beforehand Daisy was a natural as she served table after table, not receiving a single complaint. The only problem was her hairstyle didn't match the bubbly personality that she was presenting as she always used her hair to cover her right side of her face.

Daisy kept everyone happy and she walked over to a girl eating alone asking if she needed anything, the girl had given Daisy a compliment and Daisy blushed a little, Ray stopped and just stood at the counter watching as Daisy and this girl go back and forth and she was witnessing flirting. Nell was in the kitchen so she looked for Tiger and found her staring on the same thing she was seeing as Daisy went back to work. Daisy cleared some plates and took dishes to the back where Tiger, Nell and Ray were talking.

Daisy asked what was going on as they all seemed nervous to say anything and pretended they were getting slammed and headed quickly back to work. Daisy went back out into the dining area, closing time was approaching and she went table to table asking if everything was alright, she approached the girl once again asking if everything was fine. The girl asked for the cheque which Daisy got for her and paying. She got up as Daisy was about to head to another table the girl stopped her giving her some lien as a tip but also with the lien was her name and number.

She mouthed the words "call me" and winked at Daisy, Daisy had her mouth open shocked and blushing as the girl smiled and left. She had even looked back as she walked out the door, Daisy made sure to put the number in her scroll and then the bit of paper in her pocket as she continued working. After the last customer had left she sat at a table looking at the bit of paper wondering if she should go for it, she remembered their interactions and maybe it was the best way to move on.

While she was thinking that Ray, Nell and Tiger came up to her and asked how she was doing, Daisy jumped to her feet dropping the bit of paper as she was startled. The girls laughed as Ray picked up the bit of paper as Ray then held up the paper and asked Daisy who was Violet? Daisy blushed and hid her face and tried to snatch the bit of paper back, Ray had her fun giving the number back and telling Daisy to go for it. Tiger and Nell nodded their agreement saying it would be a great help to get her mind off you know who and move on.

Daisy nodded thinking it may be a good idea to as she decided to text Violet.

To be continued...
