-Chapter 21- Return to Beacon

Eada arrived back at Beacon a few days earlier then planned, she was sick of staying in her large mansion alone, she had gotten to know the staff quite well but her place just didn't feel like home anymore. The staff understood wishing her luck, stepping into the dorm and thumping her suitcase onto the bed. Instead of unpacking straight away she looked around the room to see it dead quiet thinking that Tiger and Daisy would be in Vale helping out Ray and Nell with their restaurant. She left the dorm and on the way out she stopped and thought of one place she needed to see. Walking into the arena just remembering Austin spending a lot of hours in there, she was really missing him and perhaps she could sense a connection in a place he was in the most.

What she didn't expect to find was Tiger and Daisy sparring and just by looking at how Daisy was keeping up and more aggressive with her offence that she had come a long way. She watched the two continue, they clearly hadn't seen her watching until they stopped for a short break as she wandered in telling them good news that she decided to come back early. Daisy and Tiger both sheathed their weapons running over to Eada giving her a hug even though they were covered in sweat. Eada tried to run but she couldn't run too fast wearing heels and having 2 on 1, she grossly accepted the hug but was grateful to have friends that were so excited to be around her. The three of them went back to their dorm, taking turns to shower as they all caught up with each other.

Asking what is new Tiger told Eada that their has been some dating news, Eada just had to know asking Tiger who she was with, she shook her head declaring that she was single and then pointed to Daisy saying how she got her flirt on and ended up winning a lucky girl over. Daisy blushed a little but blushed a lot when Eada automatically assumed it was Jade as she squealed shouting out that she asked out Jade. She started going on and on at how they would make such a great couple and it was about time that Jade noticed her, she didn't stop until Tiger had to clamp her hand over her mouth telling Eada to calm down as Daisy told Eada that the girl she was seeing was a customer in the restaurant, her name was Violet and things were still fresh.

Eada was confused, Daisy had spent the last year thinking of Jade and making that point had Tiger helping Daisy out by telling her the conversation she had with herself, Ray and Nell at how it was in her best interest to move on, explaining how nothing had changed for a year and the fact that Jade could not stop talking about Austin, Daisy then chimed in building on Tiger's argument saying how Jade was Austin this, Austin that... understanding she felt guilty about his death but she was there for her. At this point Daisy had tears go down her face, lowering her voice a little as she mentioned she was always there for her no matter what, how Jade actually knows her feelings towards her but keeps her guessing...

Trailing off she sat on her bed, looking at the ground eventually just saying she had no idea if Jade wanted her at all or just a friend, Tiger sat next to Daisy hugging her with one arm and Eada was on the other side. It was clear Daisy was still head over heels for Jade but to help her move on Eada then nodded and told her she couldn't wait to meet Violet, saying she sounded like a catch and jumped on board with their relationship but secretly she didn't want Daisy to. Tiger had the same feeling but it was Daisy's decision and had to respect it, all they could do was be there for support, Jade was due back in a few days and all break she had not sent a word to anyone which had hurt Daisy the most.

Over the next few days Tiger, Daisy and Eada had hung out with Ray and Nell, Eada met Violet and everything was looking up with Jade due back the next day. Daisy had always planned on being at the docks just waiting for Jade however Violet had asked her to the movies, Eada and Tiger gave her advice saying if she truly wanted to try move on then she'd better go to the movies and not waste her shot with Violet. Reluctantly she decided to go to the movies after a bit of convincing, Tiger and Eada went to the docks to wait for Jade's return. Jade stepped off the ship, smiling at Eada and Tiger as they waved back nodding their approval of growing out her hair which was now ended just below her neck.

The three friends hugged and helped Jade carry her bags back to the dorm as they caught up with each other and Jade began telling stories of her trip and what she had gotten up to, excited to be back but wondering where Daisy was, she didn't want to make it obvious and assumed she was back at the dorm. Eada and Tiger filled Jade in what they had been up to and as they entered their dorm Jade looked around asking where Daisy was. Eada and Tiger had already discussed they wouldn't be weird about it as they told Jade she had gone to see a film. Jade nodded, confused and wondering why she didn't want to see her best friend but Eada answered her confusion telling Jade she met someone.

Tiger then informed her how they had been helping at Nell and Ray's restaurant and she got her flirt on with a customer, her name was Violet and did say Daisy wanted to be at the docks to meet her however they told her to go for it and not waste her chance with Violet. Jade nodded, she had done some serious thinking whilst on the cruise and talked to David and Julie, Jade hid her feelings as they headed to Nell and Ray's restaurant. They had just closed for the evening when they arrived, Ray told them to come on in and that they were just in time to help stack chairs. Everyone caught up with Jade but after she needed some fresh air and sitting outside in the chill night just thinking.

She heard 2 people talking getting closer and she knew the voice of 1 of the people as Daisy, she looked to her left seeing Daisy holding her left arm with her right hand as she walked talking to the girl next to her, the pair were dressed in a smart casual clothes. They stopped at the restaurant and saw Jade, Jade waved and had a small smile, clearly nervous and awkward as Violet and Jade met for the first time. After a short introduction Violet said she needed to get home and kissed Daisy who had no idea and barely kissed back as she was stunned focusing on the girl she had loved for a year but in all honesty still loved. Violet said she was happy to meet Jade and headed off with a smile at Daisy but sort of worried with the feeling of Jade and Daisy like something was there.

Jade and Daisy just looked at each other, each too nervous to speak, Jade had been told Daisy was in love with her but couldn't believe Daisy had found someone so quick, Daisy just looked at Jade, so happy to see her but it had been a while. For the first time in a month they had seen each other let alone talked, Daisy understood she was on vacation and catching up with her other friends but a message each 2nd or 3rd day wouldn't of hurt her would it? Daisy then pretended to be cold and told Jade she was going to head inside. Walking in Jade followed as eyes fell to them, Tiger knew exactly how awkward it was just by them walking into the establishment together as they joined the group beginning to talk like normal but there was something strained between Jade and Daisy.

Returning to Beacon to get some rest before the first class of their 2nd year the girls were exhausted and all went to sleep despite Daisy and Jade wanting to talk to each other but couldn't find a way to. During the night Daisy woke up and left the dorm, she sat on the roof which was Austin and Jade's usual spot, she needed to think, Jade was back, they hadn't talked for quite a while, she thought she couldn't wait but now seeing her in person again had strengthened her feelings once again like recharging her batteries. Conflicted in what to do, she remembered her conversation with Tiger back when she made a pass at her the previous year and really asking herself if it was fair to date Violet with such strong feelings for Jade.

She liked Violet but she couldn't compare to Jade but once again she still had no idea if Jade was into her or girls for the very reason, she hadn't messaged her at all the entire month she was away and she had been waiting for her message which never came. Meanwhile back in the dorm Jade woke up seeing Daisy's bed empty, the bathroom door was wide open, Tiger and Eada were fast asleep as Jade wondered where Daisy could be. Sighing she got herself a glass of water and went back to bed hoping she could talk to her tomorrow. When Jade woke up in the morning Daisy wasn't in her bed still and looking around the room she found herself the only one in the room, Eada was in the bathroom getting ready but there was no sign of Daisy and Tiger.

Jade got ready herself and went with Eada to breakfast hoping Tiger and Daisy would be there waiting for them but not around, before class Jade then checked the library and couldn't find any trace of Tiger or Daisy but found Tiger when she entered the arena, she was training and smiled when Jade came over asking if she was there to train before class. Not wanting to make it seem obvious that she was only after Daisy she nodded and called Jadeite Castitas with her scroll, with a quick warm up she asked Tiger where Daisy was casually as possible. Tiger mentioned she had trained with Daisy earlier as it had become a routine for them to be up early training but mentioned that Daisy should be having breakfast with Violet.

Jade let out a surprised "oh" but shrugged it off telling Tiger that it wasn't a big deal as Jade started to focus on training with Tiger, in the meantime on campus Violet had arrived at Beacon. Violet shared a meal with Daisy as the two talked sitting on a bench, Violet brought up the previous night asking about Jade which had Daisy nervous as ever. Violet kept asking questions until Daisy ended up tripping on some possible quick thought excuses she made up, Violet wasn't too happy wanting to hear the truth and clearly not getting it. She told Daisy to tell her the truth or she'd go ask Jade and her other friends, Daisy sighed and apologized for treating her so bad but confirmed Violet's suspicion as Daisy told Violet all about the past year and how technically she was still head over heels for Jade.

Daisy knew it was coming as Violet slapped her, swearing at how she was wasting her time and told Daisy it would've been better not to call her at all, Daisy tried to defend her reason and said nothing was going to happen with Jade as she was with her, Violet couldn't as she put her hand up stopping Daisy in her tracks saying that they weren't exclusive but couldn't date someone that wasn't fully into her and not just a rebound or to be used so she could get over Jade. Daisy once again promised that nothing would happen but Violet screamed at her reminding her that they share a dorm room, are together each day and it takes an airship to get to Beacon.

Daisy looked at the ground before back to Violet apologizing once more, Violet calmed down a little but told Daisy it was over between them as she packed up her breakfast and wished Daisy all the luck, Daisy did the same and gave Violet a parting kiss before pulling away and wishing her luck herself. Daisy watched as Violet walked away as she just stood there wishing she could get control of her feelings. What Daisy hadn't seen was Jade behind her, she had rounded the corner actually looking for Daisy to talk to. Jade stood there having witnessed what looked to be a very passionate kiss between Daisy and Violet, Jade turned around and got out of view thinking her chance was gone.

Daisy brushed away a tear and headed for class meeting up with her team, Jade and Daisy's eyes met but they both looked away from each other as they sat in different spots of the room, Dr. Oobleck arrived and started his usual lesson which occupied the focus of Jade and Daisy's minds even though they still had thoughts about each other, Tiger and Eada sitting next to each other were a little off put as Jade and Daisy always sat next to each other. They quietly discussed what they could possibly do but still had to pay attention to the lesson. Eada slipped a note to Tiger which read she would talk to Jade and Tiger would talk to Daisy, Tiger nodded her agreement and waited for the end of class.

To be continued...
