-Chapter 23- Higanbana

Daisy just looked at Jade nervously as she quietly forced out a meek "Ok" to Jade's request, Jade took a couple chairs they previously stacked on the tables and put them on the ground offering Daisy a seat. The two girls sat facing each other, a silence fell upon them, not an awkward silence just a nervous tension in the room. Jade lightly coughed clearing her throat as she looked Daisy in the eyes beginning by telling Daisy she spent a lot of time thinking things through. Maybe thinking too much but also admitted to ignoring the subject and she was sorry for that. Daisy looked on staying quiet, she was too worried to speak and didn't want to interrupt Jade as she continued.

Jade took Daisy's hand deeply apologizing for technically stringing Daisy along, not talking to her while she was on holiday during the break, getting over Austin took some time and the past month had been crazy as they learnt about Salem, Eada now being a Maiden and to top it off they graduated early and would be heading out the next day. Jade then made it clear she was glad that they were going together and staying a team as she couldn't imagine being out on her own or with another team, she kept going on starting to ramble a little still too nervous to actually say the words. Daisy summoned up all her courage first interrupting Jade by thinking she had the situation read perfectly leaning forward closing the gap between them and planting a kiss on Jade's surprised lips.

Daisy had her eyes closed and her heart was racing as her lips touched Jade's, the second that took forever was killing her as it would be the second where Jade would hopefully kiss her back or the unfortunate rejection pushing her away. As she kissed Jade it was her turn to overthink things just waiting for a kiss back as she imagined 1000 different scenarios which would lead to heartbreak but for Daisy she got what she was hoping for as Jade kissed back. They held each other in their arms as they kissed for the first time, Jade and Daisy were kissing each other, it felt right and now was the best kiss Daisy ever had, that being said though she had only kissed Violet.

The pair finally pulled away slightly as they both stared into each others eyes, Daisy had her tears water up, she had been dying to do that ever since meeting Jade and it made the year and couple of months worth it as the waiting made the kiss more enjoyable. Concerned Jade asked about Daisy's tears but they were both smiling, Daisy didn't need to answer as they both knew they were tears of joy. The two hugged and as they hugged Jade then whispered into Daisy's ear that she wanted to be with her. Daisy started bawling her eyes out as she told Jade she wanted to be together to. They spent some time to calm down and talk exactly how they felt and what they wanted but eventually got up as they walked into the kitchen.

In the kitchen Ray, Nell, Tiger and Eada were all talking as if nothing was taking place but they looked to Daisy who had just wiped tears from her eyes, the girls were concerned and thought the worst thinking Jade just wanted to be friends. Jade followed her in as they both took each others hand smiling as Jade announced that they had news and Daisy couldn't contain herself excitingly yelling out that they were together. The 4 girls rushed to them, giving them a hug and congratulating them, as Tiger hugged Jade she said it was about time which got a good laugh from everyone, eventually the night came to an end and Team JDTE bid farewell to Ray and Nell making sure they'd stay in contact as they returned to Beacon for their final night and went to bed.

In the morning Daisy was the first up and she sat on her bed just watching Jade sleep, she didn't want to look like a creep but she couldn't help it just watching Jade sleep peacefully but it did get her thinking about Austin. She thought back to the conversation she had on the roof with him the previous year and something just compelled her to head there before leaving. She stood on the rood after leaving the dorm watching the sun come up, Jade had arrived with Tiger and Eada shortly after as they all sat next to Daisy. Jade put her arm around her and then Tiger, Eada put her arm around Daisy as they all stared into the rising sun ready to start their journey as a new team. Daisy leaned into Jade whispering "He'd approve" and Jade just had to come back with an "I know".

Later that morning Professor Ozpin had instructed Team JDTE to head to Daisy's home town Higanbana, however instead of travelling on an airship straight there they were being taken to a small village call Shion. From there they would go village to village helping anybody on the way to Higanbana but their main goal was to meet with a Huntsman that knew the area well, he had been there for quite a while helping slay Grimm and jobs around the Kingdom leading to Mistral. The main reason he was there was to start a social network with the local Huntsman and perhaps one day they could help in the fight against Salem. Qrow had done the very same thing in Vacuo when he first met Austin and knows exactly who to go to if they were ever in trouble.

Once landing in Shion the girls carried their packs and got to work straight away, checking in at the town's inn they went to their room to brainstorm likely ideas of which Huntsmen to approach first and they'd do that by checking out the job request board. Tiger quickly thought to herself and raised an issue with the plan saying it was dangerous to take on such a job first. If they went with a slow play they could pick out the good Huntsmen that come back after doing their job, not only would they see the level of difficulty of their job but how fast they completed it in. Jade nodded her head in agreement mentioning it was a good plan. Eada then piped up saying they just can't wait and suggested that Jade and Tiger go on a job together.

Everyone looked at Eada wanting an explanation but Daisy gave it for her providing the answer and on the same thought as Eada as it would look quite funny for a team of Huntresses arrive and sit around, so in that case the two best fighters can pick an easy Grimm slaying job and possibly turn some heads showing they could handle themselves. They all agreed on the plan as Eada ordered a drink for herself talking to Daisy having a normal conversation just like everyone else in the inn's bar and restaurant while Jade and Tiger agreed on a search and destroy request and headed South of Shion to cut down the population of Grimm. The girls made sure to be weary cause now they weren't in training where if you fail you get an F, if you get an F out in the field you'd most likely die.

The pair cut down many Grimm over the next few hours, surely having enough they headed back to the job request board where they saw on the board the job was done as Jade put her scroll on the terminal and dispensing the payment. She grabbed the lien and went to count it to divide between 4 but the lien was snatched out of her hands as a low level thug thought he got his luck on rookie Huntresses. Jade and Tiger chased after him, they were gaining on him but being a local he obviously knew the area better as he found little shortcuts until Jade looked at Tiger as they both nodded and with an instant Jade used her semblance teleporting right in front of the man with her sword pointing at the boy's neck and Tiger covering the rear, he was trapped in the alley.

Jade showed him her Huntress license and took their hard earned lien back. Jade was planning on taking him in but Tiger thought of something else as she turned him around asking him for information in exchange for letting him go. The guy was scared but answered Tiger's question of who were the lowest Huntsmen in the local area, the type of Huntsmen that could be paid a certain amount of lien to look the other way. After she got what she wanted she grabbed him by the shirt telling the guy to never try something like that again. He nodded as Tiger let him go and he began running but Jade teleported with her semblance in front of him again holding up his wallet demanding Tiger's scroll back.

He scowled as his pick pocket tricks usually worked as they traded wallet for scroll and he started to leave being watched closely by the two huntresses. As he was leaving Jade shouted after him "Strike 2, don't let there be a strike 3" They double checked all their belongings and after being sure everything was fine they headed back to the inn as they met up with Eada and Daisy telling them of the day they had. Daisy said she forgot to warn them about things like that in small towns but were glad they were alert, Eada then used her eyes to gesture to a few people at a table having found the best Huntsmen in the local area. They were lucky as 3 out of 4 were together all at once but the 4th guy named Silver is more legend than anything.

The girls looked at Eada and she put her hands up and said that was word for word of what she had heard everyone describe him and Daisy backed her up to, they headed up to their room for a rest but to also discuss plans on how to introduce themselves let alone recruit them, this was their very first assignment and they had only attended Beacon for 1 year and 3 months before being thrown into the deep end like this. They called Qrow and he gave them tips, all the way from boasting that they graduated early to finding out the smallest fact about the person they were trying to recruit. Making sure that they chose their target carefully and not rush in and to always not bother a Huntsmen so timing was key.

The girls went back into the bar that night ready to work out their plan but for one case they didn't need to. As they were about to introduce themselves the Huntsmen recognized Daisy, they enjoyed running into and catching up with one of their favourite waitresses and were impressed how she had attended Beacon, noticed within her team and having graduated a year and 3 months instead of the usual 4 years. They talked well into the night, Daisy had introduced everyone and by the end of the night they had their help as they'd do anything for Daisy after she looked after them for so many years it was the least they could do. The girls then asked if they know who Silver was but got the generic legend remark but a note was slipped into Daisy's hand with the one word, Higanbana.
