Yua stood in her office door way. She sighed as she saw the mess. Shattered glass everywhere. The only pane glass that was damaged was the one direct behind her desk. They had a lucky shot or they had been in her office, that or had been told which panel was at her desk. But even then, they would have to know she was there at that exact time. She could have sworn, she had ordered bullet proof glass for her office but someone had messed up. Her staff had already ordered new glass and started a clean-up. It looked like the bar was going to be her office for today.
She went back down once she was sure the three family heads had left and tucked herself into her private booth.
"Miss Kim." Someone called her after a long and boring hour. She had taken to looking through her bar inventory. She had to make some orders soon. She looked up to see the police officers from the night before. She quickly jumped.
"Oh, I'm so sorry gentlemen." She spoke sweetly, gesturing for them to sit down in front of her. "Can I get you anything?" She asked as they moved to sit down.
"No, thank you." The older man told her and sat down as she did.
"How can I help you?"
"We just came to give you an update." The same man spoke.
"Oh, you found something out already?" She asked surprised.
"We found a sniper rifle with a perfect view of your desk. It appears that was the only pane that hadn't been tinted." He told her and Yua's eyes opened wide. She had also been under the impression that all of the glass had been tinted.
"You mean they could see into my office without any issue?" She asked unnerved. Anyone could have taken that shot without any help. It could be anyone. But at the same time, they would have had to find out that one pane wasn't tinted. It felt so much like an inside job.
"Yes. We also believe that they chose to gaze you rather than hit you." He continued and Yua frowned. "If they could see you, they were either a very bad shot or were trying to send a message. Is there anyone you can think of who would want to hurt you or scare you?" Yua thought carefully, she had to be careful about what she said now. "We know that there are a number of shady characters that come here..." He pressed her after she didn't respond.
"I try to keep them out." Yua stressed. "I kicked out Uchiha Madara last night before the shooting. I later found Senju Tobirama at the bar after and had him kicked out. I can in this morning and Madara had come back with Senju Hashirama and Pein, I had to wait for them to leave before leaving my own office. If I know they're here I try to move them on. I don't want any dodgy business my bar." She tried to reassure the two police officers.
"Miss Kim, we have witnesses state that these men including the likes of Senju Hashirama, Orochimaru, Uchiha Madara and Pein have been here and in your office." The younger man almost barked at her. Yua automatically turned on the water works. Men hated to see women cry and she was happy to use it against them.
"They keep trying to get me to pay them protection and let them do business in the bar." She balled out. "I always tell them no. I won't allow it." She continued to cry, covering her face. "They keep coming back and threatening me." The older police officer stood up and rested his hand on her shoulder.
"One of them came through with their threats." He said simply. "We should think about putting you in witness protection. Your testimony would help us send these men to prison." He then added with hope. Yua shook her head.
"No, I won't let them win and hide. I am staying right her." She told him with resolve.
"We can have police placed here, to protect you." He then suggested to her, sounding sympathetic. Yua shook her head again.
"It'll look bad, no one will want to drink somewhere where the police are hanging around." She told them, calming her tears down.
"We can get some in plain clothes." He then suggested.
"Ok, plain clothes but if there's any issues, I will have to tell them to go." She told them. The two men smiled and nodded. They clearly thought they had a way into the seedy underworld.
"We'll have it sorted within the hour." They told her before they left.
Yua walked over to the bar once they had gone and picked up a small black box. She walked over to the booth they had been in and it beeped. They had planted a bug. She went back over to the bar and wrote down her instructions.
'Plain clothes police are coming. They will be on the lookout for my attacker.
Warn all the families.
Bug has been planted in my booth, check for more.'
She passed the note over to the same tanned bartender who served her that night.
"Asuma, use body spray." She told him as she smelt his usual cigarette scent.
"I have."
"Use more." She walked back over to her booth. "Asuma I forgot the phone!" She shouted as she sat down. Asuma quickly gave her the phone and she thanked him. Now she could start the process of ordering her bar supplies.
As the evening drew closer, Yua went up to her office to pick out an outfit. She chose a glittery white midi dressed with camisole style straps, giving it a square neckline. It hugged her body perfectly, even with a low drop back. She kept the same heels on, she didn't see the point in changing them. She did debate about wearing sleeves because of the dressing, but she didn't see the point in crushing it under tight material. As much as she didn't like showing so much skin, men liked to get grabby at bars. She smirked as she looked at herself in the mirror. She came down to the bar and made sure everything was running smoothly, ready for the bar to open.
When she got to the bar, Asuma informed her on the polices arrival. She recognised one of them, she had seen him a few times with Kakashi. Now she wondered if Kakashi was a rat for the police as well. She walked up to them, ready to greet them. Once she introduced herself to them, she learnt their names, Iruka and Anko. Both of them agreed to stay out of Yua's way unless she was in danger. She would use this disruption as time to have some fun.
She sat the bar, drinking a mocktail. She didn't feel like getting tipsy or drunk until the evening would be drawing towards an end. As always, the bar filled up quickly. She had a few offers to buy her drinks in the first hour. Each one she turned down; she didn't want them thinking she was open to any advances. She instead chose to dance.
She felt eyes on her as she swayed her hips to the beat. She knew the police were watching her, she didn't need to look to know that. Someone came up behind her, they didn't touch her but rather danced with her. She turned her head slightly to see an older man, not much older but older than she was. He was bold and had couple of visible scars. He was wearing a plain black shirt and what looked like leather trousers, the sort you would see bikers' wear. The fact that he was bold didn't bother her, it added to his charm. She stepped back so they touched as they danced, his hands slowly came to rest on her hips.
They danced for a little while before she took his hand and gently tugged him towards the bar. She ordered him a whiskey and herself a vodka and coke. She didn't want to get tipsy just yet.
"How did you know I'd like a whiskey?" He asked, leaning down to her ear so she could hear him. She just smiled and shrugged.
"You look like a whiskey kinda guy." She told him before tugging him with her again. This time, she pulled him towards her private booth. The music was a little quieter there and would allow for conversation.
"You know, I've never been served so quickly at a bar before." He mused as they sat down opposite each other. "Mind telling me your secret?" He asked with a smirk.
"I own this place." She told him, smirking when his face showed surprise. She knew he was expecting her to say she flashed the bartender.
"Wow, now I wonder what I did to earn this privilege." Yua smirked again.
"Maybe I liked your dancing." She teased him. "Or maybe I'd like to get to know you." She teased him again.
At the moment, Sai came up to her and whispered in her ear. Madara had turned up and he was already drunk. He was refusing to leave. It appeared now that Kakashi had gone, no one else could live up to same threat as him. Yua sighed and told Sai she would come sort it out.
"If I don't see you later..." She passed him a business card for the bar with her office phone number on. "Give me a call or come back soon." She finished and walked off to deal with Madara.
