-Chapter 27- Choices

The next morning Tiger and Daisy returned to the town of Higanbana, reuniting with Jade and Eada in their room. The 4 girls said hi to each other and created some small talk but the feeling of the room was really awkward. Knowing they had to talk was an understatement but it would have to wait as the team called Professor Ozpin to report in their progress and events, however after they reported on what they had found and potential leads Jade asked why he didn't tell them that Austin was alive? Professor Ozpin remained calm and collected as he gave a casual answer that it was not part of the original plan, not to mention everything they heard about Salem and then the news about Ozpin could've been too much for certain members of the team.

Jade knew this was directed at her however the one feeling the most hurt was Tiger, she knew exactly what it was like to lose a team member and refused to understand why Austin chose to fake his death, not thinking of the mental damage he may have caused his team, although now she was more skeptical as she had to ask if Gretchen had done the same thing. The response from Professor Ozpin was expected however Tiger knew the truth in his words as he did sound quite regretful. He apologized once more and asked what Austin had said, they stuck to their report about Austin as Professor Ozpin asked if he was going to return to becoming a Huntsman.

The girls looked at each other and it was Eada to speak up this time as she told him that they weren't sure, Daisy had her eyes on Jade but closed her eyes briefly returning her full focus to the conversation at hand. Jade on the other hand had looked at Daisy, sneaking a glance every minute, trying to focus on the conversation but there was a part of her even now trying to think of what to say to Daisy, what she had chosen and when should she talk to her with or without the team in the room. Eada kept an eye on Jade, Tiger was more interested in the call but being the team leader she could easily sense that everything wasn't right between certain members which she needed to step in and stop, making a mental note as soon as they hung up she was going to take charge.

Professor Ozpin told them to make their way to Mistral later tonight they could take the train, after he hung up the girls looked at each other as the silence settled in, nobody was going to talk first as everyone didn't even make eye contact until Tiger took charge as team leader asking her team what was going on? How they went from being such close friends and even having a family type atmosphere just suddenly disappear. She put it into terms that it was shocking that Austin was still alive, some people knew and some people didn't but it shouldn't break their bond over it. Tiger also informed them that Austin is clearly not the same Austin they had trained with, Austin would never back down from a fight and he very much so refused a duel between he and herself.

Jade looked at Tiger, she wasn't pleased how Tiger had challenged him to a duel and Tiger wasn't happy with Austin faking his death, his actions caused more pain than good, Daisy saw Jade's reaction and just left the room, Eada just sat on her bed looking out the window and not only had Tiger lost her control of the situation Jade left and went the other direction then Daisy. Daisy made her way to the clearing she had spent so much time alone living in Higanbana, sitting on a fallen tree she was glad her hair covered most of her face as she held her left arm with her right hand and started crying, she had spoken to Austin last night and Tiger was right, he wasn't the same Austin they knew.

She had woken up to Tiger sleeping across from her, she had heard voices outside and figured it would be best to head out for some fresh air and ask for breakfast but as she opened up her tent flap and stepped out into the camp she saw Austin sitting with 2 girls, 1 on each side of him very close, he didn't have his shirt on and they were clearly all over him. Austin met Daisy's eyes and he just winked with a smile as he then returned to his conversation with the two girls, Daisy retreated back into the tent and woke Tiger up, Daisy quickly explained what she saw and unable to believe it Tiger left the tent to confirm for herself Daisy's story and she got the same reaction from Austin.

The two put their boots on and gathered their belongings, they approached Austin and his two friends as they thanked him for his hospitality and told him they were going to return to Higanbana, Austin had invited them to stay and have some breakfast but Daisy had then blurted out that he better stay away from Jade. Austin looked at Daisy, he lost his smile as he got up saying he could go wherever he wanted but told Daisy that if she couldn't trust Jade, could she really be worth keeping. His words hit Daisy hard, she had always respected Austin and she thought Austin was on her side when it came to Jade and her but maybe she was wrong, Tiger saw Daisy's reaction and instantly challenged him to a duel which Austin waved off telling her it would be a waste of time.

Tiger left with Daisy making sure she was alright and trying to tell her positive things about her and Jade's relationship, telling her Austin hadn't been around to know anything or even a place to comment on it. It didn't matter though as his words were the only thing she could think about. Eada remained in the room as Tiger went after Jade, catching up to her out in street she tried to reason with Jade but that didn't work so she just stopped her asking Daisy, Austin or neither?" A silence fell between them, Jade had been looking at the ground crying, finally with tears still falling she looked to Tiger and yelled at her to mind her own business, her love life was not the team's decision, it was hers as she pushed Tiger away telling her to leave her alone and she would buy the tickets for the train tonight.

Tiger left Jade alone, grey clouds were still around as the rain started falling as Tiger returned to the inn, she sat at the bar ordering a drink as Eada sat next to her but the two didn't say anything as they just sat their quietly side by side nursing their drinks, Eada knew it would be up to Jade and Daisy to sort out their problems and now Tiger knew to, all they could do was sit and wait. Jade had gotten the tickets and returned handing Tiger the tickets for her, Eada and Daisy as she returned to the room, she looked out the window, a million thoughts rushing through her head, she knew who she wanted however she was now starting to believe that she didn't deserve her.

Daisy say by herself, with the rain falling, she sat under a tree that kept her dry, she had killed multiple Grimm in the hours she had been there, clearly they were attracted to her sadness and negative emotions. Eada listened out for anyone coming or even possibly calling her name trying to find her but continued to hear nothing then the usual sounds of the forest. After hours if sitting there feeling sorry for herself she got up and threw one of her blades at a thick tree 60 feet away, the blade stuck into the tree, she walked over retrieving her weapon, pulling out her small knife she was done hiding, she was down running away and hiding her true feelings, with that she grabbed the fringe of her hair and cut it off.

She held her fringe in her right hand, for years her hair had covered half of her face but today was a new day, she was putting all her cards on the table and was ready to accept any answer given to her, heading back to Higanbana she let go of her fringe and headed to a salon where they neatly trimmed the rest of her fringe making her new look neat and tidy. She walked into the inn, Stacey and Carl gave her the stink eye but she didn't care, approaching Eada and Tiger with some fresh confidence she asked them if they knew were Jade was. They looked at her, seeing her new hairstyle and a determined look they pointed upstairs telling her Jade was in their room.

Daisy threw open the door startling Jade, she stood in the doorway as Jade stared back at her, processing the new look Daisy had, Daisy shut the door and walked over to Jade confidently, without hesitation she stood tall but not over Jade as she told the love of her life that she was here to find out how she truly felt about her. Grabbing Jade she pulled her in and kissed her, the kiss was passionate, deep and one of the best kisses Jade had ever received as Daisy pulled away telling Jade she was in love with her, how nothing in the past mattered and if she was willing to be with her through thick or thin in the future then she would love to be able to call Jade her girlfriend.

Jade broke into tears hugging Daisy, she asked why would she ever want to be with her after the way she had treated her. Daisy hugged Jade back explaining why she loved Jade, the way she always brought a smile to her face, her usual positive attitude she brought to each problem, telling Jade how ever since she met her that she knew there was something there, something great. Jade looked Daisy in her eyes as she continued how she had always hoped one day she would see her in the same way she saw her, it has been overwhelming, humbling and even painful at times. Tears were forming in Daisy's eyes as she finally told her that she had been hopelessly in love with her, with that said Daisy gulped and asked Jade, "Do you love me?"

Jade stared at Daisy, like she was a leopard about to pounce and run after her, she thought how Daisy loved every little thing about her. Jade realized at this point she had stopped believing, she had refused to let Austin go which hurt the people around her especially Daisy, no matter how much you cling to the past it was already gone. Austin is still alive but everything that happened between them she could not see herself falling for him again, ever since she looked into Daisy's eyes for the first time when they met she felt there was something to, after a year of running from it and refusing to acknowledge her feelings out of fear and hate, she had to believe in herself again and to do that was believe in that instant connection she had been running and hiding from.

It was the longest second for Daisy, nervous for the answer she didn't have to wait too long but her mind was racing, if Jade really had to think it over for 5 minutes then maybe she was wrong about her instant connection she felt between the two of them. Perhaps she would say yes out of pity, a thousand more possibilities entered her mind but they were cut off as Jade answered with a yes pulling Eada back into the moment as they both shared a long kiss, both having tears in their eyes. Downstairs Tiger and Eada were wondering how it was going, Jade had sent them both a quick message on their scrolls not to come to the room as they were talking, Tiger and Eada looked at each other confused at first then realizing what was happening.

The two made a joke with each other knowing what their friends were up to, things were looking up as they finally cheered up, entering the lounge they stopped and remembered as they looked on stage to Austin performing a duet with one of the girls he had been next to earlier this morning. They looked at each other as Tiger then confessed to Eada that their was some information she was now sitting on, information about Austin...
