Ibiki couldn't take it anymore. He had to see the only person he knew who would know where Yua was or how to find her. All of the police resources that Ibiki had had failed so far. He had even tried to get some information from Suna, after all Orochimaru mentioned Suna to her. He guessed she may have followed her uncle. But he had no way of getting anything. Suna had stopped allowing communication out of the city for some time now. He had to look elsewhere for help. The kind of help that could and probably would lose him his job.
Before he left, he placed his badge and ID on his desk. He knew that once he crossed the line to find Yua, there was no going back. He had to be with her. His heart ached and cracks grew with each passing day. He truly loved her and it was more than enough to put everything on the line.
He walked into the bar, it was still early and few party goers had arrived. He knew he was being watched from the moment he entered. He hadn't been back since Yua left him in her office all those months ago. He had tried to stay away, to move on and not dwell in the past. He made his way over towards the only door to her office. He sighed as he reminded himself it was now Kakashi's office. He was met at the door by a familiar face, Sai.
"We wondered if we'd see you again." Sai told him before opening the door to let him pass. "He's waiting for you." He then added. Ibiki wasn't surprised Kakashi was waiting, he must have wondered why Ibiki would return to this place.
"She's in Suna." Kakashi spoke as soon as Ibiki had entered and closed the door behind him. Ibiki was shocked but at the same time, he knew Kakashi would know. She was either contacting him or he had contacts that had seen her.
"Has she spoken to you?" Ibiki asked curiously and Kakashi shook his head. He wondered if she had, did she ask about him?
"No but I did receive word from one, Uchiha Sasuke." Kakashi admitted. "If you have time to stay, I will fill you in." He added as he gestured towards the chair in front of his desk. Kakashi had left her office exactly the same, he either expected her return at some point or was too lazy to change it. "To be honest, I thought you'd never come back after all this time." He then sighed as Ibiki sat down.
"I never thought I would." Ibiki admitted and Kakashi nodded. "How did you know I was coming anyway?" He then asked, curious if it was because he walked into the bar or if it was something else.
"Iruka-kun told me you had left your badge and ID on your desk. We both suspected you'd eventually make your way here after that. The question was when, days, weeks, months or years." He explained. "I know you don't approve of my relationship with Iruka but it is a purely physical one. We never tell each other anything personal or about business." He then added, trying to clear any of Ibiki's doubts.
"I don't care what you and Iruka-san get up to." Ibiki stated, shaking any questionable thoughts from his mind. "My issue was that you were known to have gang ties and Iruka was a police officer. I thought at the time, he was putting his job and civilians at risk." He told him, trying to straighten out any misconceptions that had been formed by his negative attitude towards them.
"I understand." Kakashi appeared to smile but Ibiki wasn't sure with the mask covering his face. It had always made Ibiki wonder if anyone had seen Kakashi's face. And if Iruka had even seen his face. Ibiki quickly changed his train of thought. "Now, let's get back to the start." Kakashi spoke up. "After Yua found out about her family and threatened to kill Orochimaru, we all got her to calm down and sober up. Then we heard about the planned raid. She had no choice but to leave with Orochimaru. He had managed to recruit Sasuke by this point. They all left for Suna to take it over."
"I take it with how quiet its been, he has failed?" Ibiki asked and Kakashi nodded.
"Yes, Suna's rebel leader, hardly rebel in our eyes anymore, received help from a newly formed gang on the border, Leaf. Leaf are what the members who have left both the Senju and Uchiha gangs. They don't seem to be too much trouble for the moment. Anyway, Suna is now in the hands of Gaara."
"The Kazekage's son?" Ibiki asked, slightly confused.
"Yes, Gaara was the leader of the rebel forces within Suna. He disagreed with his father's thirst for war with Konoha for the sake of power. All the money being spent on war supplies was leaving its citizens without enough food and water. Gaara had had enough and gathered the people of Suna against his father." Kakashi explained.
"And how does Orochimaru or Yua play into all of this?" Ibiki asked, bored. He just wanted to know more about Yua.
"I was getting to that." Kakashi huffed. "Orochimaru had the Kazekage in his pocket. He would win the war against Gaara and then stab the Kazekage in the back to take his place. But as I said, Gaara won. Orochimaru was injured by this point and Sasuke realised what a vile man Orochimaru really was. Sasuke killed Orochimaru and sent Yua to Suna. Gaara was offering anyone who had been forced to fight under his father and Orochimaru a chance to live a life in Suna, as long as they worked to gain the trust of the people and to better themselves and others. Apparently, she had put her life on the line for the children of Suna but I don't know how or why."
"Did Sasuke ever state how well Orochimaru treated Yua?" Ibiki asked, nervous of the answer. He knew Yua was scared of Orochimaru but he never got a straight answer as to why.
"At first she wasn't allowed out of anyone's sight. Sometimes she would leave Orochimaru's office with marks but after a while it stopped. She became very quiet and stayed out of everyone's way. But now she's in Suna, according to Sasuke, she's almost back to her old self. But he said it was like a part of her soul was missing and had been missing since she left Konoha, before Orochimaru had done anything." Kakashi answered honestly. Ibiki sighed, he had felt the same. Since Yua had left, he felt as if a part of him had been ripped away. "In Suna, she is known mostly as Sumire. Very few call her Yua so remember that when you go around asking where she is." He then added and Ibiki nodded.
"Is there anything else I should know?" Ibiki asked as he stood up.
"Yua is no longer a dealer but a respected member of the community. She only uses her contacts to better the people of Suna." Kakashi almost sounded threatening, warning Ibiki not to compromise Yua's new and peaceful life. "Oh, and they need some new police officers, ideally with experience. Their army wouldn't mind a hand in the intelligence sector either." He then added in a lighter and happier tone. Ibiki smirked and nodded. He could make a new life in Suna with Yua without compromising himself or his values.
Within a matter of days, Ibiki packed everything he needed, leaving behind furniture and anything he could buy in Suna. He had also opened a bank account in Suna and moved all of his money over. He was leaving for good.
