On with the story
Natsu rides back Catastoras back down the mountain as he went to a campsite, Happy sets up
"Natsu" Happy called out to the Dragon man as he was carrying a pile of dead branches before throwing it to the campfire "did you find the Dragon?"
"no, I found something else or rather" Natsu said as Catastoras went to the carriage while he sat down near the campfire "someone else"
"someone else?" Happy asked curious
"found two Phoenixes" Natsu replied as he takes off his helmet before sighing "the two last Phoenixes in existence that is"
"Phoenixes? The immortal fire bird? Aren't they extinct?" Happy asked
"that's what I had thought so too" Natsu replied as he looks at the campfire "yet it's strange"
"what is?" Happy asked as he started roasting some S'mores on a stick
"there's a scent coming from them" Natsu said "a Dragon's scent"
"what are you thinking, Natsu?" Happy asked as he bites on the S'mores and munched it down. The marshmallow turned sticky in his mouth
"I'm thinking that those two might lead me to a Dragon…" Natsu replied "…one that is hiding within this volcanic mountain"
Within the Volcano, lava spewed out as they bubbled from the rising flames
At a certain part of the volcano, there is a cave that has a nest within
Inside the nest is Éclair and Momon, the two resting upon the nest
Éclair hugs Momon as the little bird was looking sad
"do we have to go again?" Momon asked as Éclair caresses his head
"we have to" Éclair told him "more will be coming"
"I hate this" Momon whined "we've been chased away so many times. And I like this place. He's here to protect us"
"I know, Momon. I know" Éclair said "but he can't protect us at all times. we have to leave if we are to survive"
Momon started to cry as Éclair hugs him close
Éclair gently caresses Momon's head as she hugs him close
The volcano shakes as it was slowly boiling up for an eruption
"let's pack up, we leave as soon as he wakes up" Éclair told him as Momon nodded, the two separates as Momon started walking around to a sack that is filled with food rations
Éclair sighs as she had a sad frown
"should we take this one with us?" Momon asked while nearby a small crimson egg
"we should, it's endangered as us" Éclair said as she went to the egg and carries it up
Before long, Éclair and Momon heard metallic footsteps as they look to the entrance and sees Natsu coming into their home
"you!?" Éclair exclaimed as she pulls out a dagger from behind her
"wait" Natsu said as he takes off his helmet and threw it aside with his sword and gun "I'm not here to cause harm"
Momon ran to Éclair as the little bird hides behind her legs while shaking in fear
"that's what they all say" Éclair said while glaring at him "I warned you to leave!"
"I know, but I'm not here to cause danger" Natsu told her while holding his hands up in surrender "I'm only here because of the rumours of the Dragon that is spotted and said to be here"
"why? What for?" Éclair stated, not letting her guard down for one second
"I am Lizardius, Lizardius Natsu Dragneel" Natsu told her while his facial form changed into his Dragonic form "Dragnof's King"
"Lizardius? As in the Hero who defeated the Demon King?" Momon asked while looking at Natsu before hiding behind Éclair's legs
"I am" Natsu replied "please, I am merely here to ask on where the Dragon is"
"there is no Dragon here, they are extinct just like our kind" Éclair told him
"no, I can smell the Dragon's scent. I know that the Dragon is here, and I am here to bring it back to Dragnof" Natsu told her "and if you want, the two of you can come with us. I can assure you that you shall be protected there"
"I won't ever trust anyone, ever!" Éclair said while holding the knife tighter "my parents, Momon's parents, and my friends…all of them killed because of lying people like you"
"I do not know what had happened to the both of you in the past, I know that you two had faced lots and lots of hardships. But I can assure you that I do not lie of my words" Natsu told her while holding a hand to his chest "my oath as my promise to you two"
"leave" Éclair stated "now"
Natsu looks at her before sighing as his form changed back into human
"very well" Natsu said before he place down a rolled up contract paper to the ground and placing his magic gun beside it "here, if you ever need help and desire to come to Dragnof; sign it and I shall come to your aid"
"I told you to leave now!" Éclair shouted, her eyes filled with hatred and anger "don't ever come back!"
Natsu looks at her before he takes his helmet and puts it on, then his sword
He turns and started walking out of their nest after taking one last glance to them
Éclair glared at him as her eyes were filled with pure hatred
Natsu walks away from the volcanic mountain as he leaves the area before stopping as an earthquake shakes the land, the volcano nearly erupting
"strange..this volcano should be erupting a lot" Natsu said as he looks down into the lava pool bellow and sees the lava not rising "it's like…something is preventing it from erupting"
Natsu soon felt a presence as he reached for his magic gun in his holster before remembering that he gave it to Éclair and Momon
"forgot about it…" Natsu said as he looks around and the presence was gone "where?"
Natsu turns around before feeling an earthquake as the volcano's lava was rising up before it went down
"could it be?" Natsu said as he looks at the lava pool
Éclair and Momon were packing their belongings as they were going to leave their home as soon as possible
"there" Éclair said as she place everything into a sack before looking to the scroll and magic gun, Natsu left behind
She looks at it before taking hold of his magic gun, placing it away into her sack, Éclair holds the scroll as she looks at it before opening it
Her eyes read the content as her eyes widen a bit
"mate? men are all the same" Éclair said as she scrunched up the contract paper before throwing it away
Momon place the egg into a sack as he gently covers it
"alright" Momon said before the paper ball falls near him "hm?"
Momon grabs the paper ball and unravels it
"Éclair? What's this paper?" Momon asked
"nothing important, Momon. Just focus on packing, alright?" Éclair told the little bird while tying the sack tight
"alright" Momon replied before he looks at the map and rolls it up "when will he wake up?"
"maybe soon" Éclair replied as she carries up the sack "let's go, Momon"
Éclair turns towards the little bird, but he was gone, vanished
"Momon?" Éclair looks around to find the little bird, but he was nowhere to be found "Momon? This is not the time to play games"
"no" a voice spoke as from Éclair's shadow, came out a masked man "the shadow never plays game"
"you!?" Éclair exclaimed before the masked man covers her mouth then pulled her into the shadows
Natsu was surveying the mountain as he kneels down and sees footprints
"humans…a group of 3-4 people" Natsu said as he caresses the ground and touched the footprints "these tracks are still fresh"
Natsu stood up as he sees the tracks moving forward before it decreases
"they must be mercenaries after the Dragon..or rather the two Phoenixes" Natsu said before he whistled and Catastoras came running towards him
"guh!" Éclair was forced to the ground as her hands and legs were tied up
"finally found you, Phoenix" a man with unkempt turquoise hair, wearing a black coat and mantle stated out while having a smirk "you sure have been flying around, hiding and flying from us"
Near him were three people, a hulking man who holds a magic gun, a woman wearing a skirt and holding a cage that had Momon in it, and a masked man wearing a hood who had kidnapped Éclair
"Carbuncle!" Éclair exclaimed "why do you hunt us!? For what reason do you serve that king!?"
"do you must ask?" the man asked with a smirk "fame and money, of course"
"yeah, and not only that. We get to hunt you birdies for fun" the hulking man said with a smirk before licking his lips
"and not only that, the King only needs one phoenix" the woman said while chuckling "that means one of you won't be so lucky"
"shall we pluck this bird's feathers, Dyst?" the masked man asked as metal claws came out of his hands
"yes, we should, Chase. We should" Dyst said with a smirk "after all, a featherless bird is a flightless bird"
Éclair instantly tried to get out of the rope, but they were tied tight, not letting her get freed
"Cannon, if you please" Dyst said as the hulk man nodded with a grin before he went on top of Éclair and grabs one of her wings
"this is going to hurt" Cannon said before ripping some feathers from her wings, causing Éclair to scream "a lot!"
Cannon started ripping off her feathers as Éclair screams in pain, Dyst and his comrade enjoying what they were seeing
"stop! Please! Stop!" Momon cried out as Éclair continued screaming in pain
"ora ora! Look at how much feathers this bird has!" Cannon exclaimed as he rips a bunch of her feathers and throws it away "it's like endless!"
"save some for me, Cannon. Feathers from a rare bird like a Phoenix can catch a pretty good price in the market" the woman said while smirking
"yes, what Coordinator stated is very true" Dyst said while smirking as a bunch of Éclair's feathers floated up before they all flied into a sack that Dyst was holding
Éclair was now crying in tears, the feathers of her wings nearly gone
"looks like you ran out of feathers for your wings" Cannon said smirking before seeing the feathers on her hands "but you have some here"
"no don't! if you take the feathers from her hands, she'll bleed!" Momon cried out, begging them to stop
"ho? If I remember correctly, they say that a Phoenix's blood can grant youth, eternal youth" Dyst said smirking "that is something very useful for us"
"yeah, a girl like me could have that" Coordinator said smirking "I won't need to buy anymore skin care ointments"
"shall I have my blades draw her blood?" Chase asked, metal claws coming out of his cloak
"be my guest, Chase. Give her a swift and painless cut" Dyst said as Chase slowly walks towards Éclair, readying his claws
"no! Éclair will die!" Momon cried before he realizes that he still has the contract paper, Natsu gave them
The little bird opens the paper as he plucks a feather from his wing before biting his tongue, drawing some blood
Momon uses the blood as ink as he writes his name on the contract paper
"please! Éclair! Please save Éclair!" Momon shouted out as the contract paper shined crimson
Chase leans his claws at Éclair's neck as the blade shines before the masked man lifts his hand up
"die, immortal bird" Chase said before he swings his hand down, his claws blade aimed at Éclair's neck
"NATSU!" Momon screamed out
WHOOSH! CLANG!
Soon, something came flying and hits Chase's claws; destroying it in the process
"What?" Dyst looks in surprise before seeing the object that destroyed Chase's claws was a silver slugger like weapon that flew up in the air before flying around past them
The group looks beside them as they see Natsu with a hand reached out
"you, who are you?" Dyst stated as the slugger weapon flies towards Natsu who caught it
"Lizardius Natsu Dragneel, a wandering mercenary and a Dragnof's King" Natsu replied, his eyes glowing red behind his helmet
"Lizardius? That hero who defeated the Demon King?" Coordinator said while looking surprised
"Cap, this guy has a bounty on him" Cannon said as Dyst nodded
"a very high bounty that not even our King can pay us" Dyst said with a smirk
"Natsu! Please! Éclair! Save Éclair!" Momon cried out
"I will" Natsu said as the contract paper rolled up before flying towards him and was caught "contract is now valid"
"we don't know why you are here, but we shall be taking your bounty" Dyst said as he snaps his fingers and a powerful gravitational force, pushes Natsu down. The man kneeling on one knee "Cannon, Coordinator"
"Ok" Cannon said as he had a giant magic bazooka appearing in his grasp "I'll blow this baby to max power"
"and I'll be taking off his hands" Coordinator said as she takes out a long-folded sword
"telekinesis magic, reequipment magic, cancelation and reequip magic" Natsu said before he stood up straight, even with the gravitational push on him "such weaklings"
"he's able to withstand my magic?!" Dyst said while looking surprised
"not for long!" Cannon said as he pulled the trigger, his magic bazooka firing a missile that flies towards Natsu before exploding
"that ought a put a few dents on him" Coordinator said with a smirk as the smoke covered Natsu before from the smoke, Natsu's sluggers went flying towards them
"what!?" Cannon exclaimed as the sluggers flied around before slicing his bazooka into pieces
The smoke dispersed and revealed Natsu who was unscathed by the attack
"not effective?" Chase said as the Sluggers came flying to Natsu who caught them
Natsu's sluggers disappeared as the man soon grabs a hold of his sword but soon let go
"guess the rumours of him being powerful were true" Coordinator said "what's the plan?"
"seems to me that we cannot get two bounties for one strike" Dyst said "we must retreat with a single bounty"
"not one of you are leaving" Natsu said as he disappeared and reappeared beside Cannon who gawked in shock "not at all"
Natsu's fist ignites in flames as it rages brightly before it went flying at Cannon's face, sending the man flying into the air
"Gauuuuahh!" Cannon shouted out as he flied into the air before crashing to the ground, hard
"Cannon!" Coordinator exclaimed before Natsu appeared in front of her, soon kneeing her gut hard, causing her to cough out saliva
"an attractive woman you are, but I despise a smug personality like yours" Natsu said before kicking her away while grabbing hold of the cage, Momon was in
"die by my blades!" Chase exclaimed as he sinks into the shadows before he appeared all around Natsu who just jumped away and landed near Éclair
Natsu breaks open the cage, freeing Momon
"Éclair!" Momon exclaimed as he went to Éclair, her wings were torn, no longer allowing her to fly "Éclair…"
Natsu looks to the two before to Dyst and Chase, the two preparing to attack
"if you value your lives, I suggest that you leave" Natsu said, his eyes glowed red behind his helmet "now"
"and if we do not heed your words?" Dyst said while going into a battle stance
"you shall perish" Natsu told them before an earthquake came, the ground shakes and the volcano erupting "by his flames, that is"
The volcano erupted as Lava started to overflow before flames rages around everywhere
"t-this is!?" Dyst exclaimed as the ground keeps on shaking, the tremor getting stronger
Before long, a giant pillar of flames rages from within the volcano, and with it; the sounding roar of a giant creature
"he has awakened" Natsu stated as a giant flaming claw soon rises out from the lava of the volcano
The giant flaming claw slams down on the ground near the volcano before another came out and did the same
The lava of the volcano rises before bursting as a flames rages around before forming the head of a creature of myths, A Dragon
The Flaming Dragon came out of the Volcano before it roared out loudly, the ground shakes and the sky turning into dark clouds, lightning striking everywhere
"a-a Dragon!?" Chase said in shock
The flaming Dragon roared out before it sets it sight upon everyone near him
"Humans…." The Dragon spoke out, its eyes burning with flames before it raises one of its claws up
"run!" Dyst exclaimed as he and Chase started running away before the Dragon slams its claw down, pushing it to the side.
"Gaaaahh!" Dyst and Chase shouted out as they were sent flying to the sky from the strike of the Dragon's claws
Natsu looks upon the flaming Dragon as it sets its sight on him
"y-you are…." The Dragon looks in surprise as it eyed Natsu who took off his helmet
"long time no see.." Natsu said with a smile, his facial form turning Dragonic "..Uncle"
