Within a month of Kaname's death, Rido was made king. He quickly made it clear that the weak and soft weren't welcome. He did despite how happy he was, regret having to kill Haruka. He would have spared his brother had be not chosen to protect Juri. Juri had always been the source of their problems.
Zero had finally managed to contact Aina, asking her to help him keep humans safe from Rido. But he had no need to panic. Rido did indeed hate humans and would attack them, but he wasn't about to try and wipe them from the world. The more time they spent away from each other, the more their differences became an issue for their friendship. Aina wondered how they came to be in the first place. Zero still sent her birthday messages, they would always care for one another but nothing more was now between.
