Chapter Thirteen:

'What is this feeling? Whatever it is, please don't let it stop.' Inuyasha was still stuck between sleeping and waking up when he felt a heavenly presence rubbing his ear. Subconsciously he moved his head closer to the magical fingers and couldn't fight his leg from twitching. It felt soooo good and he hoped this dream would last a little while longer.

Kagome had to hold in her giggles when Inuyasha's legs started to kick. He looked like a puppy who was getting a good scratch. She wanted to enjoy this so kept her mouth closed. But as he started purring she couldn't take it. It was just a little laugh, but Inuyasha was awake instantly. He looked confused for a minute before his face turned red. She finally let go and couldn't help but laugh.

"Oi wench! What's so funny?" He smiled at her. "Should I be concerned that you are molesting me in my sleep?"

Kagome shot him a sly grin, "mmmm maybe you should be." She giggled as he tickled her. When she woke up and seen he was still sleeping, she just couldn't resist those ears.

"Well, I guess it's only fair that I return the favor hmmm?" He leaned down and kissed her lazily. He could definitely get used to waking up this way.

Kagome melted into the kiss. She couldn't help but bring her hands back up to his downy soft ears and rub them gently. When he started to growl she could feel her body responding.

Inuyasha smelt her arousal at his growl and moaned into the kiss. She was killing him and he wanted more. He slowly tested the waters and put his hand on her bare hip, when he got no protest he went a little higher. Her skin was so soft and he was slowly losing his mind by the feel of her. She had a slight six-pack that was new and it only turned him on more.

Kagome was actually a little surprised at Inuyash's boldness, but she was not complaining. Who would? His body should be labeled a sin! He had definitely grown in the years she knew him and his body went from lean and slightly muscled to that of a Gods. He was wider and filled out more in his arms and chest. He was no longer a boy and she wasn't a little girl either. She couldn't let him be the only one having any fun and decided to do some exploring of her own.

Inuyasha stiffened as her hands parted his kimono till she was touching bare skin. He whimpered at the feel of her hands and started to kiss her more passionately. Who knew sweet little Kagome had this in her. He started to rock into her slightly to relieve the pressure and smirk when she whispered his name.

"I thought we were going to take this slow? You are making it very hard Kagome."

Kagome smiled. "I know, I can feel it." She laughed as he blushed. It was cute.

"That's your fault you know. If you want to take it slow you have to stop feeling me up."

"Hmmm, well you know we can mate without actually being mated Inuyasha..." She shot him a sexy smile. He froze and stared wide-eyed at her. When did Kagome turn into such a vixen!

"I would prefer it if you did not." The couple froze at the deep voice coming from the doorway. They blushed and hurried to fix their clothes when they saw Sesshomaru smiling at them.

"Asshole! Don't you know when to knock! Some privacy would be nice!" Inuyasha was still blushing as he went to light a fire.

"Hn. I think you are forgetting that you are not quite alone little brother." As if on cue Rin and Shippo ran into the main room yelling out good mornings. Sesshomaru laughed as the color drained from his brother and future sister in laws faces.

"Good morning Kagome!" Shippo ran into her arms. "Ewwww, why do you smell like Inuyasha?" He put his hand on his nose and missed his mother blush.

"Ummm...who wants breakfast?" Kagome stuttered out. She could not believe she forgot the children were in the next room. If Sesshomaru hadn't stopped them...

The children yelled out me's as Kagome started to make breakfast. She glanced over at Inuyasha who was shooting a death glare at his brother. This was gonna be a fun day...not.

After breakfast, the children went to Kaede's to help her with her chores, and Kagome went into the backroom to get dressed. She settled on a pair of jean shorts and a black tank top. It was getting warmer everyday and she did not feel like putting on pants. Throwing her hair up in a bun she joined the brothers back in the main room. She didn't miss Inuyasha's blush or Sesshomaru's grin.

"What did you say to him Sess?" Kagome said as she put her hands on her hips.

"Nothing at all Kagome. This one simply asked his little brother if he wanted to train to get out some pent up energy." He looked over at her innocently.

Kagome blushed and he laughed when she flipped him off.

"Well, Sango asked me if I wanted to train with her today so if you guys are going to busy I'm gonna spend the day with her." She was looking forward to spending time with Sango and showing off her new skills.

"Just make sure you don't go far Kagome. That demon is still after you so be careful." Inuyasha hadn't explained the rest to Kagome but still wanted her to be on guard.

"Of course of course!" She waved him off. "Now, go play with your brother and be nice." She laughed as they both growled at her. After a quick kiss to Inuyasha and a punch in the arm for Sesshomaru, she headed out to start her day.

Both brothers watched her go before heading off too. It was awkward for both of them after last night and Inuyasha decided to break the silence.

"So...um...I talked to Kagome last night about our ummm talk." He said sheepishly. "She thinks I should give you a shot and try to make 'amends' and yea."

"Indeed?" Sesshomaru gave him a hopeful look that had Inuyasha blinking. This was weird.

"So, I'm not saying that I trust you or anything, but with you sticking around and all...I think it would be best for Kagome's sake if we tried to get along." Inuyasha stated.

"Hn. That is all I ask little brother, a truce is long overdue." They both nodded and headed off to train.

A few hours later a sweaty taijiya and a panting Miko lay on their backs staring at the sky. They needed a break to catch their breaths.

"Wow, Kagome! I haven't had a workout like that in a long time. You definitely got stronger." Sango did not think Kagome would be such a challenge, but her aching body told her otherwise.

"Thanks Sango! Sesshomaru was a good teacher, but I think you are more skilled." Sesshomaru was fast and strong, but Sango's moves were skilled from years of training. She had no doubt that she could learn more from her.

"Don't let him hear you say that!" Sango laughed. "He probably wouldn't like being compared to a human!"

"Yea you're probably right" Kagome giggled out "This Sesshomaru has more skill in his pinky than any useless human." They both laughed at Kagome's horrible impression.

After their bodies calmed down they decided to relax for a while. Sango hadn't had a worthy opponent to spar with for some time and her muscles needed a break.

"So...how are things with you and Inuyasha? From that kiss yesterday things seem to be going pretty good." Sango asked.

Kagome smiled a soft smile thinking of him and it made Sango happy to see her sister in love. "He's changed so much in such a short amount of time. I never really believed we would end up together and now...oh Sango, he's so sweet it makes my heart burst." She looked over at Sango and smiled. "Sometimes I think that this is all just a dream! I would never have guessed he could be like that with me...it was always her." She lost her smile as she looked down.

Sango was sad for her but didn't want her thoughts of Kikyo to ruin her happiness. She had always known the baka loved Kagome, and she was glad he finally told her. It was waaayyyy past time.

"He explained everything to me. He told me that he never really loved her like that, but a part of me still wonders if he will change his mind. What if he decides he really does love her? He says he doesn't but...he always held her on such a high pedestal. It just seems too easy for him to change his mind."

"I'm not gonna lie Kagome, it was hard for me to believe he could let her go too, but you didn't see him when you were gone. He was a wreck! He never smiled or yelled or anything! He just went through the motions...even when Kikyo tried to get close to him he pushed her away. " Sango tried to convince her.

"Yea...but not for long right?" Kagome sighed. "It was so painful to see him hold her like that. Even though his reasons were good. I just...I don't know. He freaks out when Kouga touches my hand! A part of me just wishes he knew how it felt."

Sango didn't know how to respond. She knew exactly how Kagome felt. Being engaged to a pervert she definitely knew how painful it was to see the one you love touch another woman...It sucked. Thankfully Miroku knew better now, it took a few lumps in the head but now his cursed hand only touched her. She didn't like it, but it was better than the alternative.

"He never kissed her or anything like that Kagome. Believe me, I was pissed when he let her sit in his lap too. Even when you told me why he did it, I still wanted to beat his head in."She looked thoughtful "Actually, I still might."

Both girls laughed and Kagome was thankful for the change of atmosphere. They talked a little while longer before they got back to training. Sango was impressed with how easily Kagome learned a certain move, and she was happy to learn some new ones herself. They called it quits for the day when Miroku came over to see them. He was upset he missed them training, but seeing Sango all sweaty and Kagome in her shorts definitely made up for it.

"My dearest Sango, would you do me the honor of joining me on an afternoon walk before dinner?" He gave her an innocent smile hoping to spend some alone time with her.

"That smile doesn't work on me pervert. What are you planning?" Kirara nodded on her shoulder. She didn't trust the monk's hands either.

"Nothing my love! I just have a wish to spend some time with you. With all that has been going on, I have missed your presence." He looked sincere and Sango felt guilty for doubting him. They haven't spent much time together lately and she missed him as well.

Sango looked over at Kagome feeling bad for ditching her friend, Kagome was giving her a reassuring smile.

"Go Sango! Spend some time with your man! Don't worry about me! I was actually going to go check on Inuyasha and Sesshomaru to make sure they were still alive." She giggled.

"You sure? I don't like leaving you alone with everything going on recently. Inuyasha would kill me if something happened to you." She hesitated.

"Please! You saw for yourself I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself. "Sango still looked unsure. "Besides, I'm just going across the clearing, if anything happens Inuyasha is close enough to hear me."

Sango thought about it for a minute before agreeing. She wasn't going far so it was no big deal. She smiled at her friend before taking off with a grinning Miroku. She knew she would be hitting him at least twice before their walk was over.

Kagome shook her head at her friends. She knew they worried about her, but she didn't want to be a burden on them. She felt guilty for taking away their time together and would prove she could take care of herself. She got up and stretched her muscles and grimaced at her smell. She had worked up quite a sweat and didn't want to go near Inuyasha smelling like a gym sock. Thinking it over for a second, she decided to take a bath before she joined them. There was a hot spring close by and she would still be in Inuyasha's hearing range. What could go wrong?

Inuyasha was enjoying training with his brother today. They decided to work on their swordsmanship today and he actually put Sesshomaru on his ass quite a few times. His brother might have had the upper hand on hand to hand combat, but Inuyasha was obviously better with a sword.

He started to show off a little when Shippo and Rin came to watch. The kit was cheering him on and boosting his ego. He could tell his brother was getting pissed which just made it even better. They decided to take a break when the children went back to Kaede's. It was actually nice. Sesshomaru talked about certain areas Inuyasha could improve on and Inuyasha told him to fuck off. They were acting like...brothers.

Inuyasha was surprised to see Sesshomaru act so normal. The guy normally had a stick up his ass and never cracked a smile unless he was about to kill something. It was weird at first to see him laugh and crack a joke, but the more time they spent together the more relaxed Inuyasha became. It was hard to believe this was the same demon who hated him all his life. Apparently, they had something in common, one tiny woman changed them both, and he was glad.

They were getting ready to start up again when Inuyasha saw a familiar white glow coming from the forest. He stiffened and wondered what the hell Kikyo wanted. If what Sesshomaru said was true, why would she risk her neck by coming here? He looked over at his brother who seemed to be thinking the same thing. He looked back at the trees and waited for the priestess to arrive. He was glad his brother was there with him, he was still unsure if he could kill her if things went bad, but he knew Sesshomaru was not going to let her go. He wiped all emotion from his face as he felt her get closer.

She walked out of the trees with a grace that she always carried. For Inuyasha, it was like seeing her for the first time. He found himself noticing how cold she really looked. She was beautiful, but more like a living doll. No emotions, no warmth, he smacked himself forever comparing her and Kagome. Where Kikyo's eyes were a hard brown, Kagome's were a bright blue. Where Kagome was warm and full of life, Kikyo was cold and serious. Huh, she kind of reminded him of Sesshomaru.

"Inuyasha, I am surprised to see you here with your brother. I did not believe you got along." Kikyo's smooth voice addressed him.

"Keh! Yea well things change." He felt his brother stiffen next to him. Yea he was surprised he said it too."What do you want Kikyo?"

"I wish to speak with you alone Inuyasha" She shot a glare over at his brother.

"Yeah well, that's not happening. Why are you here Kikyo? Is it true that you're working with Naraku now? What the fuck Kikyo!"

Kikyo had the decency to look surprised. "Whatever do you mean Inuyasha? I have not seen or heard of Naraku in quite some time."

She almost looked convincing...almost. He could feel the anger pour off his brother and knew he didn't believe her either.

"Can I not come visit my friend...I know that you no longer wish to be with me, but I did not realise we could not at least be friends." She looked away sadly. Inuyasha almost caved, but he thought about Kagome and steeled his nerve.

"I can see that my presence is not wanted here. I will leave if that is what you wish." She started to turn away but was stopped by Sesshomaru.

"You will go nowhere till you answer this one's questions." She stiffened as he grabbed the hilt of the tenseiga. "What is it you hope to gain from helping Naraku? What are his plans for Kagome?"

She shot him a dark look. "I do not know of his plans for my copy. Now, if you only wish to ask me questions I do not know the answers to I will be leaving."

"Kikyo wait! Why?...What has Kagome ever done to you! She has saved you multiple times and never once has she tried to harm you..." Inuyasha wanted some kind of explanation.

She looked over at him with a sad look. "She has stolen you from me...isn't that reason enough." With that she was carried off by her soul collectors. Inuyasha was too shocked to follow her and Sesshomaru looked worried about something.

"This is my fault...if I was just honest with Kikyo from the start I could have avoided this whole mess." Inuyasha said to himself.

Sesshomaru didn't respond as he closed his eyes and sniffed the air. Inuyasha wondered what he was doing but was stopped from his thoughts by a snarl from his brother. Before he could ask what was wrong Sesshomaru was gone. He sniffed the air trying to see what set him off and his heart sank as he smelled it...Kage.

"Shit! KAGOME!" He yelled as he took off after his brother.

He found him in no time at the hot spring. His heart sunk as he smelled the demon and Kagome's scent coming off of it. He also noticed her clothes folded by the rocks, but she was nowhere in sight.

"SHIT! She was fucking distracting us!" Inuyasha was kicking himself. "That BITCH!" He was panicking! He should have known something was up when Kikyo just randomly showed up, and where the fuck was Sango! He could smell Kagome all over, but her scent was fading and he knew they had been gone some time. With how fast the demon moved he knew he had no chance to catch them. "FUCK!"

Sesshomaru was also pissed at himself for not seeing the setup. He knew the dead one was after Kagome and should have gone looking for her as soon as Kikyo appeared. He had wanted to be there for his brother and now knew it was a mistake. Why was she alone! Why would the slayer not stay with her! They had just discussed this the night before and he thought they understood the danger Kagome was in...

"Why would Kagome go off on her own? She knew that the miko was working with Naraku. Did you not warn her of this last night?" Sesshomaru asked his brother.

Inuyasha's face drained of color. He had told Kagome to be careful, but after the incident with Sesshomaru, he failed to tell her of how much danger she was actually in! What if Naraku already had her! Why the fuck didn't he tell her!

"I...I never got the chance. We went to bed early last night and I planned to tell her everything this morning but..." He should have told her right away. He should have made her realize she was being targeted by Kikyo as well. Maybe she would have listened better. He hung his head at his stupidity. This was his fault. He should have never left her side to begin with.

Sesshomaru was pissed his brother didn't explain everything to the miko, but what was done was done. Now the only thing they needed to worry about was finding her before Naraku did. "Let us get your pack and go after her. They could not have gone that far, but the more people we have looking for her the better."

Inuyasha snapped out of his depression and nodded. They would go get Sango and Miroku and they WOULD find Kagome. Failure was not an option. Both brothers ran back to the village as fast as they could. They had no time to waste.
