Chapter 1

Flying Dutchmen

Had only been a week since I had left the other half my heart and soul on that beach. It would be another nine years, eleven months and three weeks before I would see the other half of me again.

I sat up swinging my legs out of bed.

"Captain" Jimmy Legs came bursting into the cabin.

"What is it Jimmy" I stood to my full height.

"Man's been found half drown in a Dingy. It's Sparrow" Jack. What would Jack be doing in a dingy. Barbossa must have stolen the Pearl from Jack again.

"I'll be out in a minute"

"Aye Captain" Jimmy Legs left me alone. I pulled on a clean shirt and my boots.

Heading out onto the deck. The crew had already hauled Jack aboard from his half wrecked Dingy.

"Move aside. Let the Captain through."Maccus told the crew.

I knelt down beside Jack. He was breathing. He had a nasty gash to his head and large lump forming as well. He must of hit his head.

"Take him to my cabin. I'll tend to him. Mr Turner your in charge till I return" I looked to my father.

"Ratlin, Penrod. Take Captain Sparrow. To Captain Turner's Cabin" Father ordered.

"Aye Sir" Ratlin and Penrod answered picking up Jack's limp body.

I followed after them to my cabin. Ratlin and Penrod placed Jack on the bed. He was soaked to the bone.

I cleaned and stitched the gash to Jack's head. He had also broken a rib or two as well. I left him sleeping in my cabin. I headed back out on deck.

"Shipwreck ahead" Father handed the wheel back over to me.

It would take a long time to clean up the mess Jones had left me. We took aboard those that wished to move on. Some joined on as crew.

Ferrying the dead was harrowing business. Ten years apart was better then alternative of being dead. Leaving Elizabeth a widow. We just had to get through the next nine years, eleven months and three weeks. Then we could begin our lives. I owed Jack. He had saved my life that day.

The trip to World's End wasn't all that long as it had been when we had come with Barbossa looking for Jack.

I had the pleasure of taking Becket the deepest part of hell this place could offer he and Mercer. Former Admiral James Norrington had joined my crew.

A gangplank was lowered between the Dutchmen and the dock. The souls disembarked. A few familiar faces where among those already on the shore. My mother Arabella, Weatherby Swann and his wife Katherine I believe her name was.

"Go and speak to her William" Father nodded in the direction of my mother.

"Don't you want to speak to her"

"I….made a lot mistakes when it came to the two of you. I don't think she'll forgive me" Father smiled sadly.

"We all make mistakes. It's been a long time. Come on. Let's go and speak to her" I wasn't taking no for an answer.

"Jimmy Legs. Your in charge till Mr Turner and I return" I ordered the former Boson.

"Aye Captain"

Father and I headed down the gangplank to the shore where the souls where. They moved around us as if we weren't there.

"William. Bill" Father and I stopped when my mother spoke from behind us.

"My handsome boy."Mother threw her arms around me. Had it really been eleven years since she had died in child birth bringing my younger brother into the world.

"Look at you. You've grown into a handsome man. Why are you here" Mother turned her gaze to Father her eyes harding into a glare.

"I'm not dead Mother. Nor is Father."I tried to explain.

"How is that possible this is where dead go" Mother questioned

"It's quite a tale"

"I have time William" Mother it seemed wanted to hear all that happened in the passed eleven years since she had passed till now.

"After you died. I got a position aboard a Merchant Ship as a cabin boy. The Princess under Captain Walter Monroe. I was hoping to find Father" I began to retell the tale of all that had happened in the passed eleven years.

"Where is Elizabeth now" Mother asked as I finished telling my tale of all that had happened for the passed eleven years.

"I don't know. Safe as far as I know. It's only been a week we've been separated."I answered.

"Do you think she'll wait and be there when the ten years are up"

"Yes."I answered I knew in my heart Elizabeth would wait for me. Even if it was for eternity or the darkest part of hell she'd would wait for me and I her.

"Good that all I need to know" Mother kissed me on the cheek.

"William what are you doing here" Weatherby came forward with Elizabeth's mother Katherine.

"Weatherby, Lady Swann it's good to see you" I answered."I'm the Captain of the Flying Dutchmen now"

"You stabbed the heart. And what of Elizabeth. You left her alone in the world" Weatherby bellowed.

"I didn't have choice. I was dying. It was the only way for Elizabeth and I to be together" I defended myself.

"So what she see you'll what ever ten years until she dies"

"No. We can be together after ten years if we are both faithful. Which I believe will happen. It's better this way then her being a window" I fired back at him. Weatherby had never approved nor liked me. He had tolerated me for Elizabeth sake but that was as far as it went.

"You married" Weatherby questioned

"Aye aboard the Pearl during the battle" I answered.

"Tell me it wasn't Sparrow"

"No Hector Barbossa. He married us" I began to explain.

"Hold on a moment. What battle"

"The Pirate Lords went up against the East India Trading Company Armada" Weatherby's eyes narrowed.

"You deliberately put Elizabeth's life in danger"

"I did nothing of the sort. Elizabeth can look after her self. She always could" Weatherby's dislike and disapproval of me even in the after life knew no bounds it seemed.

"Weatherby the main thing that Elizabeth is safe and happy that's all that matters."Katherine intervened placing her hand on Weatherby's forearm.

"Sorry to interrupt Captain" Clanker came forward.

"What is it Clanker" I questioned.

"Time to go. There's another ship wreak or two waiting for us" He answered.

"Very Well. Mr Turner and I will be there in a few minutes" Weatherby was still glaring at me.

"Aye Captain" Clanker took his leave back to the Dutchmen.

"You will be back Will" Mother asked.

"Aye when we have a load of souls for World's End" I kissed her on the cheek. If one can kiss the cheek of a dead soul

"When you return Captain Turner I would like hear of how you and my daughter met and what happened till you became Captain of the Flying Dutchmen"

"Of course Lady Swann" I answered.

"Katherine. You are my daughter's husband. So we are family"

"Very Well. Katherine. We will talk more when I return" I bid farewell to the three of them.

A week passed before Jack woke. I stepped back into my cabin to check on him. He was talking in his sleep about this and that. I made out Ana Maria name being spoken.

I never knew what had become of the feisty pirate. In the year between Jack's botched hanging and me finding him on that Cannibal infested island.

What ever else he was saying I couldn't understand it. I checked the gash on his head. It was healing rather well. There was no sign of infection which was good.

"Whelp. Am I dead" Jack questioned when he opened his eyes seeing me.

"No your not dead Jack' I replied.

"How'd I end here on the Dutchmen" Jack asked as he sat up flinching slight in pain from his broken rib or ribs.

"We found you have drowned in a wrecked dingy a week ago. Where's the Pearl" I pulled a bottle of rum from the desk.

"That Blackguard Two time double crossing cursed Swine Barbossa pilfered her from me in Tortuga" Jack took the now opened bottle of rum from me

"I'll help you get the Pearl back Jack. I can't thank you enough for what you did that day" I spoke again after a few minutes.

"Twas Nothing. I don't think Lizzie wouldn't have survived losing you. Well I probably couldn't have forgiven myself seeing as it was my fault. I should have just stabbed the heart rather then provoking old Jones like that" Jack smiled sadly at me.

"It wasn't your fault. Jones would have stabbed me either way. Least Elizabeth and I have a chance now thanks to you. You still chasing immortality Jack." I held up the cut out map I had found in his coat pocket.

"Wasn't going to make the same mistake as last time with Barbossa. He may have the Pearl. I've got the map. So we're square then" Jack smiled.

"Do you know where"

"Elizabeth is. She was heading for Singapore via Port Royal. Something about sorting her father's estate, will or something like that. Old Lizabeth can look after her self you know that" Jack finished.

"I know. I just can't help worrying something might happen. There's ever chance the Port Royal is still under the control of the East India Company. Not to mention we've got a price on our heads" I took the bottle of rum back from Jack.

"Will your needed up on deck. Jack it's good to see you awake. Well you both are. Needed up on deck I mean" Father came into my cabin

"Bootstrap" Jack nodded in Father's direction.

"Both of us" I questioned get up from my desk.

"Calypso. She wants to see both you and Jack" Father answered.

I couldn't fathom why Calypso would wish to see Jack and I. I was only two weeks into my ten year stint as Captain of the Flying Dutchmen. I still had another nine years and eleven and a half months to go.

Jack, I and Father stepped out onto the deck of the Dutchmen. Calypso stood in her human form at the bow of the Dutchmen.

"Capt Turner, Jack"

"To what do we own the pleasure" Jack asked eyeing Calypso uneasily.

"I ave an offer for William and you Jack."

"What offer" I spoke this time.

"A chance to see your beloved earlier. For the your duty to be easier and term cut in half"

"What do you mean" I questioned.

"You can see your wife. When ever you are at sea. Instead of ten years it is five. You prove yourself that you can do your duty without question. Then you are free of your duty" Calypso offered.

"What that got to do with me Darling" Jack interrupted.

"You searching for the Fountain of Youth" Jack nodded" You help William with his duty of ferrying the souls for five years. I will take you to the Fountain of Youth. And help you get the Black Pearl back" Calypso explained.

"Ferrying Souls piece of cake. We have an accord" Jack agreed to Calypso's terms.

"Captain Tuner"

"Aye we an accord" I agreed

Just as she appeared Calypso disappeared from the Dutchmen without a trace.

"Well Captain Sparrow its seem you have a ship. Well Co Captain"

"Hang on mate. I'm older and got more Captaining experience so I'm in charge."Jack argued.

"My ship. My rules Jack. We Captain her together" I laughed..

"Alright William. Only one rule through. There better be a good supply of rum. If I anit going to be in port for what four years and eleven half months."

"Calypso keeps the Dutchmen well stocked so no worries there."I revealed.

"Well thank god for that. Though I wont' be sharing a cabin with you. And keep that wife of yours away from me rum. She's got a habit of burning said Rum" Referring to the time Elizabeth and he had been marooned on the Rum Runner island by Barbossa.

"William, Jack what did Calypso want" Father questioned as he approached Jack and I at the bow of the Dutchmen.

"It seems Jack will be joining us for now as co Captain of Dutchmen. As for what Calypso wanted. She offered me a choice. Do my duty for five years and she would consider releasing me from the curse" I answered.

My father stared slack jawed at Jack and I at the news. "So who's in charge. You or Jack"

"I am. Jack is second in command and you after him" I answered.

"Well if that's the case your in charge then Captain Turner. I got a date with a bottle of rum and a bed" Jack walked off headed down below decks to raid the Rum Hold no doubt.
