Hmm, There IS A Light at the End of the Tunnel
Recap: Adrian's POV: Bruises littered the skin I could see. Bella's wrists also had thick bandages around them. I would heal her some, but I need more energy to see if she is coherent with the drugs in her system. I sat down in the recliner beside her bed. I reached out and grabbed the hand without an IV needle sticking out. Physical contact always strengthens the connection. I closed my eyes and felt for her spiritual essence. Come on Bella, I know you are a fighter.
Chapter 17: Reunited
Bella's POV:
What is that noise? My head hurts. Why does my head hurt? Opening my eyes, I see that I am on a beach. But that doesn't make sense. I was just at my house. My house! Crap! Where am I? The zip ties and the gag are both gone. Looking around I can't spot Orlov anywhere. I don't see anyone.
"How did I get here?" I whispered and sat down on the hot sand.
"I brought you here," Someone said behind me. I whipped around to see who it could be. The sun was shining in my eyes so I lifted my hands and gasped.
"Adrian?"
"In the not-so-flesh" He grinned down at me.
"How are we here? The last I remember was Orlov shoving a wet cloth in my face and pinching my arm." I asked him. He sighed and sat down next to me.
"Well before the team moved in and rescued you Orlov used chloroform to knock you out. And the pinching you felt was another drug. We don't know what kind it was, but we think it was another one to knock you out for a longer period of time. We can't wake you up yet, but I wanted to talk to you." He answered.
"It does make sense." I said.
"What makes sense? That I wanted to talk to you?" Adrian asked confused.
"No, the other thing. The second drug had to have been another sleeping agent. He mentioned wanting to turn and he needed to deliver me to his master or that would never happen. He said my bloodline tastes wonderful to his master. What is so good about my blood for Pete's sake?! First Edward and now this new big bad desperately want to drink my veins dry. Do I get a break anytime soon? I think I deserve it." I ranted.
"Yes, you definitely deserve it. When you wake up, I will take you anywhere your heart desires." Adrian vowed.
"Even if it is just a library?"
"Why would you want to go to a library?"
"Adrian."
"Fine. Yes, I would even take you to a boring library. So long as they serve the best red wine."
"Libraries don't serve wine." I deadpanned.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I have been to many different libraries." I assured him and sat down in the dream sand. He sat next to me and took my hand.
"I have no doubt in my mind that you have been to many libraries. You are too smart to do anything else but study." He said.
"Is that a compliment?" I asked.
"Do you want it to be?" He asked me back.
"If I did?" I coyly replied. At least, I felt a little coy.
"Then it was definitely a compliment." He said and scooted closer on the sand towards me. "But that is not the best part."
"Oh, what would that be?" I asked.
"The typical follow up gesture." He answered.
"And what pray tell is that?" I whispered as Adrian continued to get closer.
"This," he whispered and grabbed the back of my head. Then smirking he pulled me in and his soft lips landed on my own. His lips seared my own in such a passionate whirlwind that I willingly got lost.
Charlie's POV:
My little danger magnet. What are we going to do with you? Bella's body looks so small in this hospital bed. I thought we would be safe here. We should have just stayed in Forks.
"Mr. Swan, are you ready to go to the detention center?" Belikov asked as he quietly entered my Bells' hospital room.
"Are trusted guardians protecting my daughter?" I asked.
"Only the finest," Abe Mazur reassured.
"Alright, then let's go. I don't think this should take too long." I said.
"Not with what I have planned," Abe said.
"We have already discussed that you will not use such methods at Court." Belikov sighed.
"Then look the other way. Use your imagination. We are not here at Court. No we are in the middle of a war-torn society that picks off the weak first." Abe replied.
I looked at Bella. I hope she rests up. I also hope that the boy's spirit heals her and doesn't take too much out of him. I turned to Belikov and let him lead the way. Abe walked beside me. We didn't feel the need to talk. All of us furious with the man in isolation. We left the hospital and made our way to the dungeons. Belikov nodded and showed his badge to anyone standing between us and the dead man. Soon enough we reached the far corner of this moldy prison that held this captive. He grinned up at us as the door shut.
Unknown POV:
The snow covered mountains is where we are destined to go. Our lives are so utterly changed because of the delusions of an insane immortal teenager. We were not supposed to come here for another century. However, the States were not the best idea. We don't want to run into her. And we are busy serving THEM. If he had not had such suicidal tendencies, we would be fine. Our family would have been a little broken, but it is my family. And now this new threat is taking away all of our choices. We have no other option but to follow on this wild goose chase. I would have hoped that this mission would be one that we were unqualified for. But no, his highness feels that our band of misfits are perfect to target this threat and end it.
Screams, piercing through the air.
Blood splattered across the room
Fur matted to a girl's head.
Tears pouring out of her mocha eyes.
An axe about to swing down on an unknown male.
Great! What danger have you sought out now? Were our brand of monsters not good enough?
(AN: Hopefully you enjoyed this new chapter. It is small, but it shows the information that you will need to remember for future chapters. I wanted to include a little more fluff between Adrian and Bella. I believe they deserved it, don't you. But the action will pick up again.
