Hello all Storm here with a new chapter! Here we'll be seeing Naruto gaining his sixth Pokémon and a rather unexpected, but very welcomed, one as well. Along with May finally entering his first Contest, with plenty of surprises. So, without further ado.

The day before the Verdanturf Pokémon Contest, Naruto, May, Max, and Brendan had decided to do some last minute shopping before the Contest tomorrow. The four heading to the stands and vendors, with them splitting up to do some shopping on their own, while planning to meet back up at the Pokémon Center once they were done.
With Naruto looking at the different vendors seeing what else was being sold.
"Boy, boy, hey you boy! Come here!" Someone said, getting Naruto's attention, the whiskered blonde looking to see a vendor behind a large glass tank filled with water.
"Are you talking to me?" Questioned Naruto, raising a brow at the salesman, who nodded and motioning him to come forward.
"I want you to take a look at these Pokémon." Said the salesman, with Naruto stepping forward and looking at all the Pokémon in the tank, seeing they were all the same species.
They were fishlike Pokémon with large, heavy reddish-orange scales. It has large, vacant eyes and pink lips. Its pectoral and tail fins are white. On its back is a stiff, three-peaked yellow fin, resembling a crown; there is an identical fin on its underside. It also has long barbels. The barbels are white on a female and pale-yellow on a male.
"Magikarp?" Naruto said, seeing what many believe to be the weakest and most useless Pokémon ever.
Though while Naruto could agree to an extent that Magikarp aren't the best Pokémon to have, that didn't mean they were useless. Especially if you put in the time an effort to train them and teach them new moves, and eventually have it evolve into a Gyarados.
"That's right, the king of all carps. Just between you and me, these Magikarp are like a Pokémon goldmine. A single Magikarp lays a thousand eggs at a time and each of those baby Magikarp lay one thousand more and each of those will lay one thousand, that's a billion Magikarp! You can sell each Magikarp for a hundred Pokédollars, in three generation you will have tons of money, billions and billions." The salesman said quietly, while Naruto raised a brow, seeing this guy was just pulling some kind of scam, doubting he even knew the first thing about Pokémon.
"And how much would one Magikarp cost?" Questioned Naruto, since having a Magikarp would be useful, since he didn't have any Water-type Pokémon.
"Oh smart choice boy, very smart! Normally, I charge eight hundred for a single Magikarp, given how much they're worth, but for you I give a special discount and only charge five hundred Pokédollars!" The salesman said, with Naruto mentally rolling his eyes, but pulled out the money while looking at the Magikarp to choose which one.
Before spotting a Magikarp that was swimming slightly away from the others and seemed to have yellow spots around its body, making Naruto frown, thinking something may be wrong with it.
"I'll take that one." Naruto said, pointing at the Magikarp with yellow spots, while planning to take it to the Pokémon Center to have Nurse Joy check it.
"Ah good choice, that's a special Magikarp I just caught recently, I'm sure it will bring you luck." Stated the salesman, while mentally laughing at believing he tricked the kid into buying such a worthless Pokémon.
Even better that it's the strange colored one he found, knowing it'd be even worse if he was found out to have painted a Pokémon a different color, than if he's just pulling his usual scam.
After paying the salesman, Naruto threw a Pokéball at the Magikarp before catching it once it came back, pleased at having gotten a new Pokémon, even better when it'll evolve. With Naruto then leaving the stand and pulled out his Pokédex to scan Magikarp and see what moves it knew.
"Magikarp, the Fish Pokémon. Magikarp can live in the dirtiest of water. It jumps very well and can evolve into Gyarados."

Gender: Male
Ability: Rattled
Moves: Splash, Tackle, Flail, Bounce, Hydro Pump
Naruto's eyes widened in surprise at seeing that his Magikarp knew Bounce and Hydro Pump.
"Woah, a powerful Flying-type move and a powerful Water-type move. You're definitely gonna be a strong one." Naruto said grinning at the Pokéball, knowing Magikarp's going to be really strong.
Even better that he just unintentionally scammed the scammer by getting such a low price on such a powerful Magikarp.
Though knowing he still had to get his new Pokémon checked out, Naruto headed back to the Pokémon Center to see if he was alright. With the whiskered blonde arriving not long after and going up to the counter.
"Hello young man, is there anything you needed help with?" Nurse Joy asked with a smile.
"Hey Nurse Joy and yeah. I was hoping you could look at my Magikarp, he's covered in yellow spots and I wanted to make sure he was alright or is something was wrong." Replied Naruto, while handing her Magikarp's Pokéball.
"I'll give your Magikarp a checkup right away and get back to you, should I find anything wrong." Said Nurse Joy before she went to see if Magikarp was alright.
Seeing this, Naruto went and took a seat to wait for her to come back and see if something was wrong with his Pokémon.
'I wonder if there are portable water tanks I could get?' Naruto wondered, since it'd be a good thing to have for any Water-type Pokémon he gets in the future that aren't capable of moving on land, and when they aren't near any water to let them out in.
"Hey Naruto!"
Hearing his name, Naruto looked and saw May, Max, and Brendan walking towards him.
"Hey guys, did you finish your shopping?" Naruto asked, with the three nodding.
"Yeah, we mostly got more supplies for when we eventually leave Verdanturf. What about you?" Said Max, wondering what Naruto could have gotten.
"I actually found a vendor selling Magikarp and I got one." Replied Naruto, surprising and confusing the trio.
"Magikarp?" May asked, having heard about that Pokémon and that they were considered to be rather useless.
"You sure that was a good idea?" Questioned Brendan, raising a brow, as while he wouldn't say any Pokémon are useless, a Magikarp wasn't that useful to have until it finally evolved.
"Yes. Besides the guy was just a con man, saying how Magikarp lay a thousand eggs and those Magikarp would lay a thousand eggs, and so on and so forth, then that selling them would make me rich. But I got it since it can be a useful Pokémon with the right training. And look at the moves Magikarp knows." Naruto said while pulling out his Pokédex and showing them Magikarp's moves, surprising them at the moves Magikarp knew.
"Woah, I thought Magikarp could only use Splash." Max said, surprised at Magikarp already knowing two powerful moves.
"Okay, it was a very good idea apparently." Stated Brendan, just a surprised.
"Wow, way to go Naruto. You just got a really strong Pokémon." Said May, smiling at Naruto, seeing he's added another strong Pokémon to his team.
"Thanks, but even if Magikarp didn't know those moves, I'd still train him." Naruto said, knowing Magikarp would still be strong with the right training and when he eventually evolved.
This made the three smile, seeing the Uzumaki didn't care about the moves and still planned to train him.
Though their attention then turned to Nurse Joy when she came out and walked towards Naruto, while looking less than happy.
"Young man, I don't know what kind of game you're playing, but it won't be continuing any longer!" Said Nurse Joy, confusing four at what she meant.
"Game?" Naruto asked.
"Yes! Painting your Pokémon isn't only abusive to them, but also illegal to try and pass them off like that!" Nurse Joy said, with the group now looking at her in surprise.
"Uh, Nurse Joy. If you mean Naruto's Magikarp, then he'd never do something like paint his Pokémon or do anything harmful to them." Said May in her crush's defense.
"Yeah, I bought Magikarp only a while ago at a vendor and thought he was sick. But it was just paint?" Naruto questioned with a frown, since he's now seeing that salesman actually painted the Magikarp, while Nurse Joy calmed down a little at hearing this.
"Yes, I mean your Magikarp and he's perfectly healthy. Come and see." Nurse Joy said, before guiding them further into the Center and into another room.
When they arrived, they were surprised to see Magikarp swimming around in a tank, but rather than the normal red color like the rest of its species, Magikarp was a gold color.
"It's a Shiny Magikarp?!" Said Naruto in disbelief, not expecting Magikarp to be a Shiny Pokémon.
"That's right, when I went to check Magikarp and saw the paint starting to peel off in the water, I washed the rest of it off and saw that it wasn't sick, only painted to look like a normal Magikarp. Luckily, it wasn't on for very long to cause any damage." Said Nurse Joy, since how some paints could be harmful to Pokémon the longer they're on, even more so with the amount that was on the Fish Pokémon.
"Well I didn't paint Magikarp, the guy I bought him from must have. He should still be in town with the other vendors, it has a large tank in front of it filled with Magikarp so it shouldn't be hard to find." Naruto said, seeing the salesman wasn't only trying to con people, but also trying to disguise Pokémon illegally.
"Thank you, I'll be sure to inform Officer Jenny and her officers to find and arrest this man." Replied Nurse Joy before going to do just that, not wanting someone like that around to use Pokémon in such a way.
While Naruto and his friends looked at Magikarp in amazement that he was really a Shiny Pokémon.
"I swear you guys have insane luck." Brendan stated, shaking his head in disbelief at the luck Naruto and May seemed to have.
First coming across two Eevee's, which were hard enough to find unless you knew where to look, with one being even rarer that it was a Shiny Eevee. And now here in Verdanturf, Naruto not only managed to get his hands on a Dawn Stone to evolve his Kirlia into a Gallade. But also gets possibly one of the strongest Magikarp's in the entire world, and it's another Shiny Pokémon.
At this rate, he wouldn't be surprised if they ended up befriend and/or catching Legendary and Mythical Pokémon.
*Timeskip-One Day*
It was finally the day of the Verdanturf Pokémon Contest, with all the Coordinators having arrived and were getting ready, while having some last minute preparations before the Contest began. With May sitting in the locker room, feeling extremely nervous at finally entering her first Contest.
"It's really happening, oh man, what if I mess up or forget what to do?" May said, nervous that she'll make a mistake or mess up, starting to have second thoughts and doubts about entering, in case she embarrassed herself.
"Relax May, you're going to do great and show everyone just how amazing you and Torchic are." Said Naruto, smiling at the brunette, getting her attention to see him, Max, and Brendan smile and nod at her.
"Naruto's right, you've been training for weeks for this Contest, the judges and the audience are going to love your performance." Brendan stated, having faith in his friend.
"Yeah, and if it helps, just pretend that it's just you and Torchic practicing like you've been doing. Just focus on yourself and on Torchic." Added Max, with May looking at them, before nodding shakily while feeling herself calm down a little before she saw Ino approaching them.
"Just do your best May, that's all we can do. But I'm still going to win, though I'm sure you'll still be amazing enough for second." Ino said while smirking, which May returned.
"Sorry to disappoint Ino, but I fully intend to win. And there will be plenty of other Contests you could win, provided that I'm not entering them." Replied May.
"We'll see, after all, who could ignore a beautiful flower like me and Oddish." Said Ino, confidently.
"I think they'll be more focused on the show, Torchic and I will be putting on." May stated, with the two Coordinators smirking at each other, both determined to win.
'Yeah, she's going to be just fine.' Thought Naruto, seeing that May's nervousness was completely gone, along with her stage fright.
*Later*
"Come on, where are you Timmy?" Naruto muttered, looking around for Timmy, who's yet to show up and enter the Contest, and he was about to miss the deadline.
Though hearing someone come through the doors, Naruto looked and saw Timmy running inside.
"There you are, glad you made it just in time!" Said Naruto, going up to Timmy, who panted lightly at having to run all the way here.
"Thanks for waiting for me. I almost didn't make it, after my mom gave me a ton of homework to do." Timmy replied, surprising Naruto that Kimiyo just happened to give Timmy a lot of homework before the Contest.
"Do you think she might have seen through our act and still suspects you're The Phantom?" Questioned Naruto as that seemed the most likely reason, only for Timmy to shake his head.
"I don't think so, since your plan did work and didn't show any reason that I could be The Phantom. But since she really believes we're two different people now, it probably only added belief that The Phantom is "influencing" me. But thankfully, my dad was able to help me sneak out and get here in time." Said Timmy, thankful for his father's help and planned to do his best in the Contest, just like he wanted.
"That was great of him. Now come on, we gotta get you signed up and in costume before it begins." Naruto stated, with Timmy nodding in agreement as they went up to the counter before heading to the locker room.
*Grimm Manor*
Meanwhile, back at the mansion, Kimiyo headed up to her sons room to see how he was doing on his homework.
"Tim, would you like some-" Kimiyo said, only to gasp in shock when rather than her son, she saw her husband sitting at Timmy's desk.
"Tom?! What are you doing here and where's Timmy?!" Said Kimiyo while looking around for their son.
"He's at the Pokémon Contest Hall and he's likely already entered by now." Revealed Tommy, knowing it'd be hopeless to hide the truth and where Timmy was, given once she learns The Phantom is in the Contest and Timmy just happens to be missing.
"What?! Have you gone mad?!" Kimiyo demanded, not believing he'd actually help Timmy get away from his homework and enter that Contest.
*Contest Hall*
Back at the Contest Hall, the Contest had just begun with the Appeal Round starting things off, with Vivian Meridian the Master of Ceremonies as the announcer.
"Welcome ladies and gentleman, fans and contestants, to the Verdanturf Town Pokémon Contest! I'm your host, Vivian Meridian, and you can just feel the excitement building here!" Vivian said as the crowd cheered for the Contest to begin, with Naruto, Max, Brendan, Shikamaru, and Chōji all in the crowd to see May and Ino perform.
"Now before we begin, let me introduce our panel of judges. Our head judge Mr. Contesta, Mr. Sukizo the Director of the Pokémon Fan Club, and our very own Nurse Joy from Verdanturf Town. Now let's bring on our first contestant, shall we?! Let's give a round of applause for Coordinator number one, Ino Yamanaka!" Vivian introduced, with Ino stepping out onto the stage.
With Ino now wearing a shaded green skirt styled to look like blades of grass, an orange corset top, and her hair now flowing freely down her back with a red flower in it.
"We'll be starting with Oddish!" Said Ino, throwing her Pokéball with Oddish coming out and spinning in the air.
"Oddish!" Oddish then landed on Ino's shoulder as she struck a pose and smiled at the crowd.
"Isn't that beautiful folks? Striking, majestic, a perfect opening statement for a growing flower!" Said Vivian.
"Alright Oddish, use Sweet Scent!" Ino said, with Oddish jumping off her shoulder before it began spinning around, releasing a pink powder from its leaves.
"Now use Stun Spore!" Said Ino.
"Odd!" Oddish lowered its leaves and let out an orange powder that mixed with Sweet Scent.
"Finally, use Sleep Powder!" Said Ino, as Oddish released a blue powder from its leaves, with all three powders mixing together in the air.
"Now finish it up with Flash, Oddish!" Ino said.
"Oddish!" Oddish's body glowed brightly as the light reflected off the powder, creating a lightshow of dozens of pink, orange, and blue lights.
"Amazing! Oddish used Sweet Scent, Stun Spore, and Sleep Powder, before putting on quite the lightshow with Flash!" Vivian said, with the crowd being amazed at the sight.
"Way to go Oddish!" Said Ino, smiling at her Pokémon, glad to see the audience loved their combo.
"Great job Ino!" Chōji cheered for his friend.
"Wow, that was really impressive." Said Naruto at seeing Ino's combo and the lightshow.
"She's been working on that combo for weeks, even at night and kept waking us up with it. Troublesome blondes." Shikamaru muttered, having lost a lot of sleep from Ino's training.
"Now let's see what the judges think of Ino and her Oddish…a solid 26! A tough act to follow, now onto our next contestant…" Vivian said as the next contestant came out.
With the second having a Charizard earning a 20.5, while the third used a Blastoise which only got a 15.8.
"Next up, contestant twenty-one, let's hear it for May!" Declared Vivian, with May coming out and taking a deep breath.
"Okay Torchic, it's time. Let's go Torchic, you're up!" May said, while letting Torchic out.
"Torchic!" Torchic flipped in the air as she landed on the ground.
"Alright Torchic use Attract!" Said May.
"Tor-chic!" Torchic spun around before winking, creating several glowing pink hearts that flew up into the air,
"Now light them up with Will-O-Wisp!" May said, with Torchic creating several blue fireballs that lit the hearts on fire,
"Finish it with Ember!" Said May,
"Tor!" Torchic released a stream of embers at the burning hearts, causing them to explode like fireworks, releasing a mix of red, orange, pink, and blue sparkling lights in the air,
"Now that was a show! Using Attract and Will-O-Wisp, Torchic created burning hearts in the air before bursting them with Ember, putting on her very own fireworks display!" Said Vivian, with the crowd cheering for the performance, with May smiling in relief that nothing went wrong.
"Alright, way to go May!" Naruto cheered while smiling at his friend.
"Nice going sis!" Said Max as he clapped for his sister.
"Great job!" Brendan said, glad that hers and Torchic's performance went off without any problems.
"Now let's see what the judges have to say…26.5!" Said Vivian, making May's smile increase at seeing her score.
The other contestants soon came and went, until finally it was The Phantom's turn to finish off the Appeal Round.
"Dusclops Will-O-Wisp!" Phantom said.
"Dusclops." Dusclops created several blue fireballs before sending them up into the air.
"Follow up with Psychic!" Said Phantom.
"Clops." Dusclops' eyes glowed blue with a blue glow surrounding the fireballs, before the Ghost-type began moving them around in the air in a performance for the crowd and judges.
"Wow, a mind-bending combination of Psychic and Will-O-Wisp from The Phantom. And the judges give them…27.8, let's hear it for The Phantom who finishes the first round beautifully!" Vivian said, with The Phantom smirking slightly, glad to see his combo got him a good score.
All the Coordinators were soon back in the locker room as they waited to see who would be moving onto the second round.
"I can't believe things went off without a problem, I really thought we'd mess up." Said May, feeling a lot better after their performance was well received.
"See, like we said, there was nothing to worry about May, and you two were awesome out there." Naruto said, smiling at the brunette, which she returned.
"Yeah, that was really great May." Added Max, with Timmy nodding in agreement.
"Yeah, that combo you used was really something, you'll get a place in the second round for sure." Timmy stated.
"Definitely." Said Ino, having been amazed by May's combo, while mentally noting to try and get a Fire-type Pokémon eventually, now that she's seen how great their moves could be in Contests.
"Attention please, we now have the final scores from the judges! Contestants moving onto the second round are Ino, Stefano, The Phantom, and May! For a total of four!" Said Vivian on the screen, making the group smile at seeing all three of them made it to the second round.
"Yeah!" Timmy said, happy to see he made it to the second round.
"All right!" Said Ino in excitement.
"Yes!" May cheered.
"Way to go guys, you all deserve it." Stated Naruto, happy they made it.
"But don't forget, next is the Battle Round, so two of you will be battling against each other." Brendan reminded, with the three Coordinators nodding before looking at each other.
"Don't hold back you guys, I want to win by doing my best." Said Ino smirking.
"Definitely." May replied.
"Absolutely. But remember, it's not just battling, it's still a contest to see which Pokémon has the most style." Said Timmy, knowing they still had to show off their Pokémon's style as well.
"But friends no matter what." Timmy added, as while he'd like to win the Contest, he was still happy to have such great friends.
"Yeah, no matter what." Said May, with Ino nodding in agreement.
"And may the best Coordinator win." Ino added.
*With Kimiyo and Tommy*
Though unknown to Timmy, his parents were currently on their way to the Contest Hall.
"How could you do such a thing?! You actually encouraged him to enter that ridiculous Contest?!" Demanded Kimiyo, not happy that her husband went behind her back and helped their son sneak out to enter the Contest.
"Yes! Timmy loves Pokémon more than anything and he loves entering Contests." Tommy said, not ashamed that he went behind his wife's back, if it meant helping Timmy do what he loves.
"That's too bad, I refuse to allow him to waste his time with such nonsense anymore, he should be studying like I was at his age, where I didn't waste my time with things like Pokémon." Kimiyo stated.
"That's not entirely true dear. You may have forgotten, but I never did. You didn't always think Pokémon were "nonsense"." Said Tommy, knowing she didn't always think this way about Pokémon, surprising Kimiyo that he'd mention that before looking down.
*Contest Hall*
"Torchic use Attract! And then jump into the air to use your spinning Peck!" May said.
"Tor-chic!" Torchic winked at Wartortle, sending numerous hearts at him with the Water-type gaining hearts in his eyes.
Only for Torchic to jump into the air and spin around before diving down towards Wartortle, slamming her beak into the turtles chest, sending it flying back.
"W-Wa-Wartortle." Wartortle fell to the ground with swirls in his eyes.
"Wartortle is unable to battle, May and Torchic will proceed to the final stage!" Vivian said, with the crowd cheering.
"Alright, way to go Torchic!" Said May, smiling at how well she's doing.
"Torchic!" Torchic jumped up and down, happy at helping her Trainer come this far.
"Now, in the last semi-final match, it's Ino versus The Phantom." Said Vivian, with Ino and The Phantom both coming out and standing across from each other.
Though Naruto, Max, and Brendan suddenly caught sight of both Kimiyo and Tommy walking into the arena, making them freak out at seeing the former, believing that she figured out where Timmy is. Only calming down when Tommy looked at them and nodded in reassurance, before looking back the stage, eager to see his sons performance in the Contest.
"Let the battle begin!" Vivian declared as the timer started.
"You better watch out, Dusclops and I are unbeatable! Go Dusclops!" Said Phantom releasing Dusclops.
"Dusclops!" Dusclops stood in front of Ino, ready to help its Trainer win.
"Well Oddish and I have no intentions of losing here!" Ino replied, while releasing Oddish.
"Oddish!" Oddish looked at Dusclops in determination, ready to do its best.
"Use Flash Oddish!" Ino said.
"Dish!" Oddish jumped up as its body began glowing brightly releasing a bright flash that blinded Dusclops.
"Clops!" Dusclops quickly closed its eye as it was blinded by the light.
"Alright, now use Sweet Scent!" Said Ino, with Oddish spinning around and releasing a pink powder that covered the arena.
"Dusclops get out of there and don't breathe it in!" Phantom said, only for Dusclops to be hit by the powder.
"Dus." Dusclops couldn't help but move closer to the sweet smelling powder, which only further clouded its vision.
"Okay, now go in for a Mega Drain!" Ino said, with Oddish rushing up to Dusclops and fired a green beam at the Ghost-type from its leaves, as it began draining Dusclops's energy.
"Oh no! Dusclops use Icy Wind to dispel the Sweet Scent!" Said Phantom, knowing he needed to get rid of the powder and stop Oddish's Mega Drain.
"Dus-clops!" Dusclops released a strong wind and icy blue snow that blew away the Sweet Scent powder, while Ino's eyes widened at seeing Oddish was about to get hit.
"Oddish, get out of there quickly!" Ino said, with Oddish immediately stopping the Mega Drain and jumping back, only to cry out when it was hit by the Icy Wind and was partially frozen.
"Oh no, Oddish use Stun Spore and Sleep Powder together!" Said Ino, needing to slow down Dusclops, at least for a little.
"Odd-ish!" Oddish waved its leaves around, releasing a large mix of blue and orange powder towards the Ghost-type Pokémon.
"I don't think so, Dusclops disperse it with Psychic!" Phantom said.
"Dusclops!" Dusclops's eye glowed blue as a blue glow surrounded the powder before it was dispersed, clearing the way to Oddish.
"Now use Shadow Ball and supercharge it Thunderbolt!" Said Phantom, with Dusclops launching a purple orb straight towards Oddish.
"Clops!" Dusclops then fired a lightning bolt at the Shadow Ball, surrounding it with electricity arcing around it, along with increasing its speed and power, leaving Oddish no time to dodge the attack as it exploded on contact.
"Oddish!" Ino said, looking at her Pokémon in worry.
"Odd…ish." Oddish struggled to stand up, but refused to quit now.
"You're still ready to go Oddish, okay then! It's all or nothing, let's give it everything we have, use Sunny Day!" Ino said.
"Oddish!" Oddish released a white glowing ball into the air, which glowed brightly as it became a miniature sun.
"Now use Solar Beam!" Said Ino, surprising a few people at her knowing such a powerful move, while Oddish gathered the sunlight in its leaves.
"You're not the only one with a powerful attack! Dusclops, use Hyper Beam!" Said Phantom, as Dusclops began charging up energy.
"Odd-ish!" Oddish fired a massive white beam towards Dusclops.
"Dus-clops!" Dusclops fired an orange beam at Oddish, with both attacks meeting in the middle trying to overpower the other.
Though soon, the two attacks exploded, creating a large cloud of smoke that covered the entire stage. When it started to clear, it revealed Oddish lying on the ground with swirls in its eyes, making Ino sigh at seeing she lost.
'Should have had Oddish learn more combat-oriented moves.' Ino thought, having focused more on status effect moves that would be good to use in Contests, rather than attack-based ones, though was now regretting that decision.
"And it looks like that's the match folks! With Oddish being unable to battle and the last of Ino's points being taken out! Meaning the winner is The Phantom!" Said Vivian.
"You did great Oddish, now get some rest." Ino said, returning Oddish to its Pokéball, smiling at it since Oddish still did its best.
Though when the rest of the smoke cleared, it showed that Tommy's mask had been blown off from the explosion, revealing his face to everyone.
"Oh wow, look at The Phantom now! His mask is off, and his face is now revealed!" Said Vivian, making Timmy's eyes widen at seeing his mask was gone.
"Timmy!" Kimiyo said, getting Timmy's attention as he finally took notice of his parents, freaking out at seeing his mother now knew he was The Phantom.
"Mom, dad?! What're you doing here?!" Said Timmy, worried he was going to be in even more trouble than he would be for not doing his homework.
"Timmy, I'm…I'm so…" Kimiyo said, only to turn away and walk out after seeing how much her son enjoyed himself in the battle, while Tommy nodded to his son, proud of how he did.
"Wait, mom." Timmy said, confused by his mother's actions and that she wasn't angry.
*Later*
"Yes, believe it or not, your mom loved Pokémon too, when she was young." Tommy said to Timmy and the others, telling them the real reason why Kimiyo didn't want Timmy to interact with Pokémon.
"What happened to make her change her mind?" Asked May, wondering what could have caused her to go from loving Pokémon to seeing them as a waste of time.
"Kimiyo was an only child and heir to her parents' company, so she was expected to grow up fast to take over her family's business. Which also meant things seen as childish and distractions were taken away, including her beloved Poochyena. She was forbidden to have any contact with Pokémon ever again. That's why she didn't want you to be around Pokémon, Timmy, she believed that she was protecting you from suffering the same heartbreak that she did at never being able to be around them again." Tommy revealed, much to their surprise and sadness.
"I…I never knew that. This entire time…mom was just doing this to protect me." Said Timmy while looking down, having believed his mother didn't want him to be around Pokémon because she didn't like them, when it was only because she didn't him to go through the same thing, she did.
*With Kimiyo*
While outside Kimiyo sat on a bench with tears in her eyes.
"Poochyena." Kimiyo muttered, thinking about her Pokémon that had been taken away, along with seeing how much her son loved Pokémon just like his father, and just like how she used to.
*Contest Hall*
"That's right, she believed if you never fell in love with Pokémon, then you wouldn't be heartbroken at losing them." Tommy said.
"Like her." Timmy said quietly, with Tommy nodding in agreement.
"But apparently, she still can't bear to see you with your Pokémon, so this may be your last chance to be in a Pokémon Contest. Which means you should go make the most of it and do your best, no matter what." Said Tommy, wanting his son to make the most of what could be his final Contest.
"Right, you can count on me." Replied Timmy, resigned and accepting that he may never get this chance again and wanted to do his best.
*Later*
"And now, ladies and gentlemen, the moment you've all been waiting for! The final championship showdown between May and The Phantom! Let the battle begin!" Vivian said as the timer started.
"Go Dusclops!" Said Phantom, releasing Dusclops.
It's showtime Torchic!" May said, releasing Torchic as well.
"Torchic use Will-O-Wisp!" Said May.
"Tor!" Torchic released several blue fireballs towards Dusclops.
"And right from the start, Torchic makes the first move with Will-O-Wisp!" Vivian said.
"Dusclops destroy them with Shadow Punch!" Phantom said, with Dusclops' hands gaining a grey glow.
"Dusclops! Clops, clops, clops, clops!" Dusclops punched its fists forward releasing multiple Shadow Punches towards the fireballs, destroying them in showers of blue and black embers, lowering May's points a little at the display.
"Now get in close and use Ember!" Said May, surprising Phantom and Dusclops, as Torchic got in close to the Ghost-type.
"Chic!" Torchic unleashed a wave of embers at Dusclops, impacting her opponent and knocking it back, which in turn lowered Phantom's points at the hit.
"Good move, but now you're close enough for us to do this! Shadow Ball, Dusclops!" Phantom said.
"Dus-clops!" Dusclops launched the Shadow Ball at Torchic.
"Use Scratch to counter it, Torchic!" Said May, with the Chick Pokémon phasing through the attack, surprising almost everyone that she'd use a Normal-type move to counter a Ghost-type one, which also served to take down more of Tommy's points.
Much to May's relief that the strategy that Naruto helped her come up with to counter Ghost-type moves had worked. Since they weren't really able to give it a test run, before the Contest.
"Woah, wasn't expecting that. But let's see you deflect this, Dusclops use Will-O-Wisp and Psychic!" Said Phantom, with Dusclops creating numerous blue fireballs before using Psychic to have them rush towards Torchic.
"Not so fast, Torchic dodge and jump around to avoid the fireballs! Don't stop moving and keep using Ember as well!" May said.
"Torchic!" Torchic immediately jumped over the fireballs, before launching a stream of embers at Dusclops.
"Dusclops use Icy Wind around yourself!" Phantom said quickly.
"Dusclops!" Dusclops blew out a strong wind and blue snow around itself, shielding it from the Ember, while still trying to have its Will-O-Wisp hit Torchic.
"Alright then, Torchic use Ember on the Will-O-Wisps to destroy them, while still jumping around!" Said May switching her strategy.
"Tor-chic!" Torchic released a stream of embers at the Will-O-Wisp fireballs, destroying a few of them creating small explosions of blue and orange lights, which managed to chip away at Phantom's points.
"Oh no, what do I do? If I stop Icy Wind, than Dusclops will be vulnerable, but if I stop Will-O-Wisp then Torchic could try attacking Dusclops anyway." Phantom said, looking at his points, seeing they were falling piece by piece with each fireball Torchic destroyed.
"I've got to stop her, but I don't have a clue how." Muttered Phantom, getting worried that he may lose the battle.
"Timmy!" Kimiyo said, entering the arena, getting Phantom's attention.
"Huh, mom?" Phantom said, confused at seeing his mother again.
"Don't ever collapse under pressure Timmy, Dusclops is battling for you because it trusts you, just like May's Torchic trusts her! Have confidence and have faith in your Pokémon, and you won't need a mask." Said Kimiyo, smiling at her son, surprising Phantom at seeing his mother was supporting him in his Contest.
"Oh…yeah, you're right!" Said Phantom, taking off his mask and dropped it, wanting to finish this battle as himself.
"And I just got the perfect plan! Dusclops, use Trick Room!" Timmy said.
"Dusclops!" Dusclops' eye glowed red as a large light blue rectangle with light blue transparent walls and ceiling appeared around the battlefield.
"Now use Rain Dance!" Said Timmy, with Dusclops jumping around and waving its hands causing dark clouds to form within the box and start raining, not only extinguishing Dusclops' Will-O-Wisp, but Torchic's Ember as well.
"Tor?" Torchic looked up in confusion at the sudden change.
"Now go, Thunderbolt!" Timmy said.
"Dus-clops!" Dusclops fired a large lightning bolt at Torchic.
"Dodge it Torchic!" Said May, with Torchic jumping out of the way before the lightning bolt could hit her.
"That won't help you now!" Said Timmy smirking, as the Thunderbolt was now bouncing around the Trick Room repeatedly, causing it to gain a hot pink and slight rainbow glow around it, before it suddenly crashed into Torchic who cried at the blast.
"Oh no, Torchic!" May said in worry, as Torchic fell to the ground, but struggled to get back up, refusing to give up even with the amount of damage she just took.
"Your Torchic's really something else May. But I'm afraid this is where it ends, Dusclops, let's finish this, use Rock Slide and Psychic!" Timmy said, as numerous stones appeared around Dusclops spinning in a circle.
"Dusclops." Dusclops' eye glowed blue as it controlled the stones, before launching them towards Torchic.
"Get out of there Torchic!" Exclaimed May, not wanting her Starter to get hit.
"Tor-chic." Torchic stood up and refused to move or give up, wanting to help her Trainer win no matter what.
Then to everyone's shock and amazement, Torchic began glowing and changing.
"Torchic is…evolving?!" May said in amazement that Torchic was evolving.
The evolution soon ended as the light vanished, revealing Torchic's newly evolved form.
She was a bipedal, chicken-like Pokémon. Most of her upper body is yellow, while most of the lower body is orange. An orange pointed design adorns the center of her waist at the dividing line of the two colors. She has orange eyes and a short, wide beak. There is a feather crest on top of her head with three orange points. Her tail is short and pointed. She has three, sharp claws at the ends of her long arms, and scaly, gray legs with well-developed thighs covered in shaggy feathers.
"Combusken!" Combusken rushed forward as her claws glowed a light blue and slashed at the rocks, destroying them while leaving a white trail behind each of her slashes.
"Woah, wasn't expecting that." Timmy said in shock at the sudden evolution and his attack being countered, something that caused his points to take a decent hit.
With May being amazed at her Starters evolution before quickly scanning it with her Pokédex.
"Combusken, the Young Fowl Pokémon. Combusken is the evolved form of Torchic. Its quick, powerful kicking legs can deliver as many as ten kicks per second."

"Wow, Combusken's learned Agility, Flame Burst, Quick Attack, and she must have used Sky Uppercut to destroy those rocks." Said May, smiling at seeing what her Combusken now knew.
"Alright Combusken, use Agility and Quick Attack!" May said.
"Busken!" Combusken vanished in a burst of speed as it moved around Trick Room.
"Don't forget about Trick Room, in here speed doesn't help you! Use Thunderbolt Dusclops!" Said Timmy.
"Dus-clops!" Dusclops fired another bolt of lightning at Combusken.
"Combusken use Fire Spin against the Thunderbolt!" Said May, with Combusken jumping up and releasing a spiraling blast of fire.
Though while it was weakened from the rain, the attack was still strong enough to block the Thunderbolt long enough for Combusken to get out of the way.
"And I didn't forget about Trick Room, I just needed to make sure Combusken was familiar with it. Now get in close and use Flame Burst!" Said May, with Combusken rushing towards Dusclops.
"Com-busken!" Combusken blew out a large fireball towards Dusclops, only for it to be overcharged as it started expanding outside of her control.
"Get back quickly Dusclops!" Timmy said, with Dusclops jumping back, just as the fireball exploded throwing Combusken back, with the backfired attack causing May to lose some points.
"Careful when using new moves May, you never know when they'll backfire on you. Now use Ice Beam Dusclops!" Said Timmy, causing Dusclops to forma white ball in its hands before firing multiple beams towards Combusken.
"Dodge it quickly Combusken!" May said, with Combusken jumping out of the way of the beams.
"Now use Psychic to send the beams right back at Combusken!" Timmy said.
"Dusclops!" Dusclops took control of the beams, causing them to immediately turn around and impact Combusken in the back, causing her to cry out, along with May's points taking a serious hit.
'Oh no! I have to think of something to do!' Thought May, before glancing at the screen and seeing just how low her points were, along with time starting to run out.
Trying to think of a plan, May suddenly remembered some advice that Naruto had given her on what to do in tough situations and when she didn't have a plan, to simply wing it and hope for the best.
"Combusken use Quick Attack!" Said May.
"Combusken!" Combusken rushed towards Dusclops in a burst of speed.
"Normal-type moves don't work on Ghost-types." Timmy pointed out, only to see May smirking at him.
"You're right, they don't." Said May, just everyone was shocked when Combusken phased right through Dusclops.
"But Fire-type attacks do, use Flame Burst!" May said, as Combusken released another fireball at Dusclops' back, before jumping back as it exploded, taking a large amount of Timmy's points away.
"Now use your Burning Hearts Combusken, and combine it with Fire Spin!" Said May, while hoping they'll work against Dusclops.
"Com-busken!" Combusken winked at Dusclops, creating several hearts before lighting them on fire with Will-O-Wisp, followed by a Fire Spin that engulfed and merged with the burning hearts, creating a blue and pink cyclone of flames, rushing towards Dusclops.
"Dusclops!" Dusclops had no time to dodge as the burning hearts impacted, not just burning but also infatuating him, along with trapping him in blue and pink flames.
"Oh no Dusclops!" Timmy said in worry seeing his Pokémon was being burned and damaged, while being unable to move thanks to Attract.
But just then, the buzzer went off signaling that time was up.
"And that's the end of the match, now let's see which of our contestants has won it all!" Vivian said before looking up at the board, only to be surprised when she saw that both May and Timmy's points were evenly matched.
"It…it would seem that we have a tie ladies and gentlemen, let's see what the judges have to say about this." Said Vivian, looking to the judges to see who would be decided as the winner, given both points were even and both Pokémon were still standing.
"Both Coordinators have shown amazing style and skill!" Mr. Contesta said, having been amazed by the battle.
"Indeed, they're truly remarkable!" Added Mr. Sukizo, just as impressed at the performance.
"They both did so well, I couldn't choose just one!" Nurse Joy said while smiling at the exciting battle.
"Well it would seem the judges made their decision, so it looks like the victor goes to both May and her Combusken, as well as The Phantom and his Dusclops!" Declared Vivian, surprising May and Timmy, while the crowd cheered.
"We…we won? Alright! We won Combusken!" May cheered, happy and excited that she really won.
"Combusken!" Combusken smiled happily at having helped her Trainer win the Contest.
"I…I won, I won! We did it Dusclops, we actually won our first Contest!" Said Timmy, not believing he really won.
"Dusclops!" Dusclops eye-smiled at Timmy, just as happy to help his Trainer achieve his dream of not just entering a Contest, but winning one as well.
May and Timmy shook hands and congratulated each other, both happy they were able to both win the Contest.
"Congratulations May, that was a really tough battle. But don't think it'll end in a tie next time." Said Timmy, planning on coming out the winner next time.
"You too Timmy, and yeah cause, next time I'm gonna be the winner." May replied while smirking.
"Hey kids, both of you were really great out there." Said Kimiyo, walking up to the two, with Timmy frowning and looking down.
"Thanks mom, I'm sorry though, about sneaking ou-" Timmy said, about to apologize for sneaking out.
"It's alright, I understand. And as long as you don't fall behind on your studies, then you can continue to keep entering Pokémon Contests." Kimiyo said, smiling at her son, seeing how happy he was on the stage and didn't want to take that away from him.
"Wait, you mean…" Said Timmy in surprise before smiling happily and hugging his mother, happy that she's really letting him keep entering Contests, with Tommy smiling at the sight, glad that his son will get to keep following his dream and that his wife will let him.
Afterwards, both May and Tommy were presented with their own Orange Verdanturf Ribbons by the judges.
"With the judges presentation to May and Combusken as well as The Phantom and Dusclops, of their own Verdanturf Ribbons, the Verdanturf Contest comes to a close! Congratulations to May and Timmy!" Viviane declared, as both Coordinators looked at their Ribbons in amazement, seeing that they've now taken their first steps in becoming Coordinators.
"Way to go you guys! That was an awesome battle!" Said Brendan while smiling at the two.
"Yeah, you really made a comeback there sis!" Max said, amazed at how May came back from almost losing.
"I knew you could do it May, and I know you'll be able to get even more Ribbons as well." Said Naruto, smiling at the brunette, which she returned.
"Thank you, Naruto. And actually, there's something else I want to tell you, that I've been wanting to for a while, but was too scared to say it." May said, confusing Naruto.
"What did you want to tell me, May?" Naruto asked, as May smiled softly at him.
"Ever since we met you've been my friend, helped me on my journey, supported me and my Pokémon, always been there when I needed you, and the more time we spent together the more I grew to care about you. And that's why I can say this with complete honesty and no doubt. Naruto…I love you." Confessed May, smiling at the whiskered blonde, with Naruto staring at her in shock.
"You…love me?" Said Naruto, with May nodding in response.
"Yes, I do, and more than as a friend, I really love you, Naruto." May replied, surprising Naruto further before smiling at her as well.
"I…I…I think that I…love you to, May." Said Naruto, confusing the brunette.
"You think?" May asked, with Naruto's smile turning into a nervous and shy one.
"It's…just the way I grew up, I never really understood what romantic love was like or what it feels like. I believed that I loved Sakura, but my time here showed me it was just as a friend. I know what it's like to love someone as a friend and as family, but not romantically. But what I feel for you, it's not like with Iruka, Konohamaru and his friends, Teuchi, Ayame, the Sandaime before what happened, or Sakura. I feel…different around you, I'm happy when you're around and when you're happy, I like helping you anyway I can, I like seeing you smile and have fun, I like hanging out with you and spending time together. And I get angry and sad when you're upset or hurt and want to do anything I can to make you feel better." Said Naruto, with May looking at him with wide eyes before smiling at him upon hear what he feels for her.
"Is that romantic love?" Naruto asked, since he usually feels some of that for his friends, but it was even more so with May, with the brunette smiling understandingly at him.
"It is, since that's how I feel about you. And don't worry, I'll help you understand romantic love." Replied May before leaning in and kissing the Uzumaki, while wrapping her arms around his neck.
Something that surprised Naruto for a moment, before he began returning the kiss and put his hands on her hips.
Though hearing the crowd starting to cheer reminded Naruto and May of where they were, making them blush slightly at confessing their feelings in front of so many people. Before smiling at each other, since they were still glad to have done so.
"Wow! Now this will certainly be a Pokémon Contest that no one will forget any time soon! Let's all give a round of applause to our new couple, Naruto and May!" Vivian said, while smiling at the teens.
"Young love, it's always something to warm everyone's hearts." Said Mr. Contesta.
"Indeed, and only adding more to such a remarkable Contest." Mr. Sukizo added.
"You two make such a cute couple, congratulations." Said Nurse Joy, while smiling at the new couple.
"You know, I had a feeling about you two." Tommy said, smiling and wrapping an arm around his wife, remembering when he first met her.
"They do seem perfect for each other, don't they." Said Kimiyo, smiling and remembering when she first met Tommy as well.
"Wow, congrats guys, you definitely know how to put on a show." Timmy said, smiling at his friends.
"Way to go May, I knew you could do it! Though this just means you'll have to try harder to keep Naruto out of trouble." Said Ino while smirking at the two.
"Believe me, that's not gonna be easy." May replied, knowing Naruto could get into plenty of trouble, especially how it always seems to find them.
"I suppose it'd makes sense for a troublesome blonde like you to get with an equally troublesome girl. Glad we won't be sticking around here much longer." Said Shikamaru, knowing with Naruto and May together would give him an even bigger headache.
"Shikamaru's just happy for you, we both are." Chōji said while eating his chips.
"Thanks guys." Replied Naruto while nodding at the two.
"Well it's about time! Do you have any idea how close I was to making a betting pool to see who'd confess first?! Very close!" Said Max, glad that he no longer had to deal with Naruto and May avoiding their feelings anymore.
"Congratulations guys. Though Naruto, let me just say this now, if you hurt May in anyway, you'll have me and Norma to deal with. And believe me, he has a lot of Pokémon and my dad has even more at his lab that I have access to." Brendan warned the Uzumaki, who simply nodded in response.
"I'd never do anything to hurt May." Stated Naruto, knowing he'd never do anything to hurt May.
"Oh yeah May, didn't you call mom and dad to tell them that you were entering you first Contest?" Max asked, with the brunette nodding in response, only to suddenly freeze along with her brother, Naruto, and Brendan, as they all felt a sense of dread filling them.
Naruto from a sudden chill going down his spine, while May, Max, and Brendan realized they never told Norman about her feelings, and mentally prayed he wouldn't be too angry.
*Petalburg City*
Meanwhile back in Petalburg City, Norman and Caroline sat in front of their television, having just seen the whole Contest and aftermath. With Norman having a fiery golden aura around him and literal fire in his eyes. While mentally screaming at seeing a boy daring to touch his baby daughter, who was far too young to even think of dating, let alone kissing a boy!
"Ooooh look at them Norman! They look so cute together!" Caroline squealed, happy for her daughter and for Naruto, only to look at her husband who looked ready to go to Verdanturf with every one of his Pokémon and unleash them on Naruto.
"Oh relax dear, I'm sure if anyone would be good for May, it'd be Naruto. You saw how he was like when they came here, and just look at them. Do you really think he'd ever do or let anything happen to May?" Asked Caroline, while putting a hand on her husband's shoulder, with Norman sighing and shaking his head.
"No, he wouldn't. And yeah, when they came here I…suppose he…seems like someone I could…trust with our baby." Norma said reluctantly, seeing that Naruto was someone he could trust with May,
But that didn't mean he's going to let him off easy and that the Uzumaki would still have to really prove he deserved a chance to be with May. By managing to defeat him in a Gym Battle, when they returned to Petalburg City.
So, what did you think, good. Yep we see Naruto's had his own run-in with the Magikarp Salesman, but unlike Team Rocket he didn't fall for his scams but still got a Magikarp knowing how they can be useful with the right training, along with not only learning his Magikarp knows Bounce and Hydro Pump, but it's also a Shiny Pokémon as well (meaning red Gyarados!), while the salesman will also not be pulling his scams again. Then we go to the Contest and see May, Timmy, and Ino's performances, along with the battles, which also pushes Torchic to evolve into Combusken and gaining plenty of new moves, which also gives May the chance to end things in a tie between her and Timmy, leading to them being declared as co-winners and awarded a Ribbon each. Finally May also confesses her feelings to Naruto with Naruto doing so as well, but isn't sure if he can fully say he loves May, given his childhood, which May promises to help him figure out, with their friends all congratulating them, only for Max to remind them that their parents had been watching the Contest as well, giving them all a sense of dread. Now then, onto the Omake!
Omake: Changing Tides
Misty sighed contently as she swam in the pool on the deck of the ship that she's currently taking to Hoenn, while wearing a red two-piece bikini with green highlights. Before the orangette climbed out of the pool, deciding to sun bathe for a while.
'Hard to believe I'm really going to the Hoenn Region.' Misty thought, never thinking she'd ever leave the Kanto Region, before recalling the reason for her decision to leave.
Leaving the Cerulean Gym after having a fallout with her older sisters, having grown tired being the runt among them, the bullying and exclusion from them, and getting their hand-me-downs. Not to mention always being stuck in their shadows as the "Sensational Sisters' little sister" and nothing else.
With Misty having decided to travel the Kanto Region for a bit, before deciding to try her hand at the Pokémon League to get out of her sisters' shadows and make a name for herself. Along with becoming a Water-type Master as well, wanting to be the best Trainer in using Water Pokémon.
Having decided on Hoenn, since its Pokémon League was being hosted just after the Kanto one this year.
'And best of all, absolutely no one will know about the "Sensational Sisters", or that we're related.' Misty thought while being especially pleased by that, after a sour phone call from her sisters, that made Misty decide on going to a region where no one would know who they are.
Given how well-known Daisy, Violet, and Lily were in Kanto, while even having a small following in Johto, Misty decided to travel to a different region to enter the Pokémon League.
"Attention all passengers, we will be arriving in Slateport City within the hour."
Hearing this Misty looked up, before smiling as she went to get ready, knowing her own journey will be starting soon.
'I just hope nothing too crazy happens.' Thought Misty, hoping for a nice, peaceful journey through Hoenn.
And with that, she had just tempted Murphy.
*Route 117*
Meanwhile, Naruto, May, Max and Brendan had just left Verdanturf after saying their farewells with Timmy, Tommy, Kimiyo, Ino, Chōji and Shikamaru. Eager to reach Mauville, where Naruto and Brendan will have their next Gym Battle.
Only to take a small pause, when Naruto suddenly sneezed out of nowhere.
"Are you alright Naruto-kun? May asked, having agreed that she and Naruto would use the suffixes from his homeland, now that they're a couple.
"Yeah May-chan, I think that someone might have just been talking about me." Naruto said as he rubbed his nose.
"Maybe it was Roxanne, since I wouldn't be surprised if she was watching that Pokémon Contest. Might want to watch out May, since I doubt that she'll be deterred, just because you and Naruto are now together!" Max said with a teasing smirk.
"Or maybe it some other love rival, that you'll end up having in the future!" Brendan said with a smirk of his own, as he decided in joining in his surrogate little sister.
Having been filled in that the Rock-type Gym Leader had taken a shine to Naruto, during their time in Rustboro City.
"Wait, so Roxanne liked me too?!" Naruto asked, surprised at this little reveal.
Only for Naruto to not get a reply, as May chased after Max and Brendan. Forcing the Shinobi-turned-Pokémon Trainer to chase after them.
And it looks like Misty is heading for Hoenn, as here she never met Ash and became his traveling companion, and wishes to make a name for herself outside being the runt of the "Sensational Sisters", not knowing she also just tempted murphy, something Naruto senses along with learning about Roxanne's feelings for him as well, leading May to chase after Max and Brendan.
