Hello all Storm here with a new chapter! But first, Happy Pokémon Day to you all and Happy Birthday to me! It's been twenty-five years since the original release Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green in Japan, with plenty of new games, anime, movies, and so much more since then, and now we're getting remakes of the original Diamond and Pearl, and even better Pokémon Legend Arceus! Anyway here we'll be seeing more of Naruto and May's time in Mauville, along with Naruto's Gym Battle against Wattson. So, without further ado.
I own nothing
Five days have passed since Max and Brendan left Mauville City, making their way back to Littleroot Town, while Naruto and May stayed behind. With the couple having spent the past few days exploring Mauville, going on more dates, and looking for anything interesting. The two having found the New Mauville Power Plant, while learning that it was originally supposed to be an underground city, until it became a habitat for many Electric-type Pokémon. With both Naruto and May agreeing to check it out later, to see what kind of Pokémon have made their homes inside.
Another place that they had spent most of their time at, was the Game Corner, winning thousands of coins from all the games, mostly from Naruto due to his luck. Which is where the two currently were at the moment, as they were now cashing in on their winnings. With them getting the TMs for Psychic, Double Team, Flamethrower, and Ice Beam, the Hoenn Starter PokéDolls, and each of them getting a Pokémon of their own.
"Awesome! I've been hoping to get a Bagon." Naruto said while grinning at the Pokéball, having been hoping to get a Bagon to eventually evolve it into Shelgon and then into a Salamence, knowing how powerful Dragon-types can become.
Not to mention, Naruto couldn't deny that they're also some of the coolest Pokémon he's heard of.
"Uh yeah, thanks Naruto-kun. But…are you sure that you want to get me a Pokémon, too?" Asked May while holding her own Pokéball, which contained an Absol, a Pokémon that'd be perfect for her Contests after seeing how majestic it looked.
But May also felt guilty at accepting such a High-Tier Prize Pokémon, given that Naruto won the majority of the coins. And while she won her fair share, it was nowhere near the amount needed to get even one of these Pokémon. So, May felt like she was taking advantage of her boyfriend's kindness.
Only for Naruto to wave it off and smile at her.
"It's fine May-chan. I don't mind sharing my winnings with you, so don't worry about asking for anything whenever we're at a Game Corner. And if it helps, then simply train Absol and do your best together in any Contests you enter." Naruto replied, not minding sharing his winnings with the brunette, only caring that she was happy with what she's gotten.
"I…alright and we will. Thank you, Naruto-kun." May said while smiling at the Uzumaki, promising to do her best in training Absol.
"Great, then let's go. We just got a lot of TMs, meaning a lot more moves for our Pokémon to learn." Stated Naruto, with the brunette nodding in agreement before they headed for the exit to use their new TMs.
With some of the staff waving to Naruto and May as they left, given they've been good customers the past few days. Only to immediately sigh in relief once they were gone, as while they may be good customers, the whiskered blonde had cleaned out nearly all of their machines.
"Oh thank goodness, they're gone; we were actually starting to run out of coins." Muttered the manager, given how the Game Corners were stocked with thousands of coins, and yet every time Naruto and May came in, they had to refill several machines and were beginning to run low.
"Uh sir, do you think we should inform the other branches about those two? Just in case they visit any of them." Asked the prize counter girl, knowing it's likely the couple will visit the other Game Corners in the other Regions as well.
"No, I doubt they'd believe us anyway, that anyone could be that lucky." The manager replied, doubting the other Game Corners would believe them about that kid's luck, but they'll find out if they do visit the other branches.
*Later*
"Yeah! Way to go Zigzagoon!" Said Naruto as he watched the Dark/Normal-type use Thunderbolt and Ice Beam, having used both TMs to teach Zigzagoon the moves, with his prior training in learning them helping him use the moves much more easily.
"Zagoon!" Zigzagoon raised his paw up while grinning, happy at being able to use such powerful moves.
"Hey May, how's Combusken taking to her new moves? Along with Skitty?" Naruto asked while looking at his girlfriend, who had used the TMs for Flamethrower for Combusken and Thunderbolt for Skitty.
Along with Naruto letting her use his TMs for Fire Punch, Thunder Punch and Rock Tomb to teach those moves to Combusken, as well.
"Combusken's doing great, though she's having an easier time using Flamethrower and Fire Punch. And Skitty's starting to get the hang of Thunderbolt." Replied May, while smiling happily at her Pokémon learning plenty of new moves.
Naruto nodded at hearing this, glad to have helped her and her Pokémon, before they returned Zigzagoon, Combusken, and Skitty. With the two then releasing their Bagon and Absol respectively, to scan them and see their moves and abilities.
Bagon is a bipedal, blue, reptilian Pokémon. It possesses a large, round snout, triangular eyes, yellow, circular ears similar to reptiles, and a yellow lower jaw with two teeth protruding upwards. Three thick, gray ridges cover the top of its head and continue downwards to cover its neck as well. There is a triangular patch of yellow on its underside. It has stubby, digit-less arms and short legs with two toes on each foot.
And Absol is a quadrupedal, mammalian Pokémon with a dark blue to black body covered in white fur. It has a ruff around its neck and chest and a tuft on the top of its head adorned with a single blue-black oval. Between the dark skin, the curvature of the white fur on its head, and positioning of its horn, Absol's face vaguely resembles a wu wei. It has a feline face with almond-shaped, red eyes, a scythe-like tail, and a crescent-shaped horn on the side of its head. Its broad feet are equipped with three claws each, and dewclaw-like spikes protrude from the heels of its hind legs and the elbows of its front legs.
"Bagon the Rock Head Pokémon. Bagon bashes itself against large rocks, until its head eventually grows as hard as steel."
"Absol, the Disaster Pokémon. Absol live in steep mountainous regions, and rarely venture down into areas inhabited by humans, but should an Absol be seen by humans, it is said that catastrophe is soon to follow."

"Wow, you're a tough little guy aren't you." Naruto stated while looking at Bagon, seeing the moves he had, along with Absol's own from May's Pokédex, knowing that they were definitely bred to be worth the amount of coins they cost.
"Bagon!" Bagon nodded his head in response, knowing he was strong and would prove it in battle.
"And I know you'll be amazing in Contests, Absol." Said May, while smiling at Absol and petting his head.
"Sol." Absol merely nodded, before closing his eyes and sitting down, while being pleased that he won't be expected to fight a lot, but would still do so for his new Trainer.
The two then returned their new Pokémon and decided to make their way to the Mauville Gym, for Naruto's Gym Battle.
"By the way Naruto-kun, are you sure you wanted to send Gallade to Professor Birch? He is your strongest Pokémon." May said, as Naruto had sent Gallade to Professor Birch's Lab, in order to have a spot on his team available for which ever Pokémon he got at the Game Corner.
"Yeah, Gallade is my strongest Pokémon, which is why I sent him to Professor Birch. So I don't become reliant on Gallade, and end up neglecting my other Pokémon and their training. This way, I can make sure all my Pokémon still get training, along with being able to get to know Bagon as well." Replied Naruto, not wanting to become reliant on Gallade and neglect his other Pokémon, and so he can get to know and bond with Bagon.
May smiled and nodded at this, knowing that Naruto wouldn't ever neglect any of his Pokémon and make sure all of them were trained and ready for anything.
It wasn't long, before the two soon arrived at the Mauville Gym. The sight of it reminding them of Max and Brendan, with how the latter had his own Gym Battle just a few days ago.
"I wonder how Max and Brendan are doing? If they're okay, or if they've run into any trouble?" Said May, having learned that anything could happen while on a Pokémon Journey, since she started traveling with Naruto.
"I'm sure they're fine, they were just heading straight to Littleroot Town. What could happen in just five days that could be trouble for them?" Naruto said rhetorically, doubting anything was happening with their friends.
*With Max and Brendan*
"Why did we have to stop for a magic show?!" Brendan shouted as he and Max were currently running away from a Magician and former Team Magma Scientist Butler, alongside Butler's girlfriend Diane and the Mythical Pokémon Jirachi, the latter being carried by Max.
"I thought I was done with these crazy adventures after leaving Naruto and May!" Yelled Max, having hoped to avoid any more crazy adventures.
Not get wrapped up in another one, especially involving some guy actually trying to create his own Groudon!
"You've been on adventures like this before?" Jirachi asked telepathically while looking at Max, tilting its head in confusion at what he meant, with the boy smiling at the Mythical Pokémon.
"I'll tell you later, after we're safe. But right now, less talking and more running!" Max said as they ran faster to escape Butler and his Pokémon.
*With Naruto and May*
"Yeah, you're probably right Naruto-kun." Replied May, agreeing that they're probably fine.
The couple entered the Gym, only to immediately see just how different it was from the Rustboro Gym. In that rather than entering right into the arena, it was just a long hallway with multiple turns. Confusing both Naruto and May, not expecting the Gym to be this big, before they shrugged and began walking to try and find either Wattson or the arena.
But after several moments of walking down numerous corridors, the two really began seeing just how different this Gym is from the others they've seen.
"Is this entire place just a giant maze?!" May exclaimed in frustration, feeling like they were either going in circles or getting lost.
"I think so." Answered Naruto, while annoyed that neither Max nor Brendan told them this, since it would have saved them some trouble.
Though suddenly the floor beneath them transformed, with Naruto acting quickly and grabbing May, jumping back from the now revealed trap. Only for them to see it was a rollercoaster car, which immediately shot off through the Gym, much to their surprise.
"And there are traps, just great." May muttered sarcastically.
"Let's just keep moving, I'm sure we'll find the arena eventually May-chan." Naruto said, with May nodding in agreement before they continued on their way, this time being mindful of where they stepped, now that they knew there were also traps in the maze.
It wasn't long after though, before they were suddenly surrounded by several Pokémon, with Naruto and May being shocked at what Pokémon they were.
They were all quadrupedal, yellow, tiger-like Pokémon with black stripes and a white underside. They have a thin, light blue tails with sharp angles and a spark-shaped formation at the end. Most of their faces consist of thick, white fur and shorter yellow fur around its red eyes. Their muzzles are a light blue "X" and they have a black faceplate with two bumps that cover their foreheads, noses, and ears. They all also have two long fangs. Their large claws each converge to form a single point and never retract. Extra fur hangs off their bodies in front of their thighs. They have manes across their back that resembles dull purple rain clouds.
"Raikou?!" May said in shock, while also being a little nervous that Wattson somehow had several Raikou in the Gym, while Naruto tensed and was ready for a fight.
Only for him to begin noticing something about the Raikou, that while they were growling and surrounding them, none of them were actually making a move to attack. Plus, Naruto couldn't sense anything coming from them, meaning they weren't alive either.
"They're robots." Naruto said in surprise, which got May's attention.
"What?" Said May, now confused, before Naruto walked up to one of the Robot Raikou's and knocked on its body, while being met with the sound of metal being hit.
"They're robots, they aren't actually real." Replied Naruto, surprising the brunette as all the Raikou's suddenly sat down, while a wall opened up revealing two people.
The first was a short, chubby old man with white hair that stands up and has a white beard with a smile. He wears a yellow jumpsuit, with pockets on his hips. He was wearing a brown shirt, with a thunder logo on his sleeves, and black shoes.
And the second was a young man with brown hair, glasses, wearing a tanned and blue colored sweater, tan colored pants, and brown shoes.
"Right you are, my boy! As marvelous it'd be to have a genuine Raikou here, these robots are the closest we'll get to such a Pokémon." Said the old man with a smile on his face.
"Are you Wattson?" May asked, with Wattson nodding in response.
"That I am, Wattson the Mauville Gym Leader and this is my assistant Watt, who also serves as referee for any matches." Replied Wattson.
"Nice to meet you both, it's been a while since anyone saw through the Raikou's before. Most Trainers either run away or try battling them." Watt said, having done their best to make the robots as lifelike as they could.
"It's nice to meet you Wattson, Watt. I'm Naruto Uzumaki, this is my girlfriend May. And I'm here to challenge you to a Gym Battle." Naruto said, shaking Wattson's hand, while the Gym Leader smiled at hearing this.
"Then we best get a move on then! Come, we'll take you to the arena, where we can have our battle." Wattson said, with Naruto and May nodding before following the Gym Leader and his assistant.
With the four soon arriving at the arena, with Naruto and Wattson standing across from each other. While Watt's standing at the edge of the arena, right in the center, and May was staying off to the side to watch.
"The battle between the Mauville Gym Leader, Wattson, and the challenger, Naruto Uzumaki, will now begin! The Match will be a three-on-three battle, with only the challenger being able to substitute! Please send out your Pokémon!" Watt said, as Wattson pulled out a Pokéball.
"Let's do our best Voltorb!" Wattson said while releasing his Pokémon.
Voltorb is a spherical Pokémon that resembles a Pokéball with eyes and minus the button. The top half is red, while the bottom half is white.
"Voltorb?" Naruto said while pulling out his Pokédex to scan the Pokémon, with May doing the same.
"Voltorb, the Ball Pokémon. The identity of this creature is unknown. It has an extreme personality, uses Electric attacks, and at times self-destructs."
"Voltorb!" Voltorb rolled around the arena, before returning to its position in front of Wattson.
"Alright then, let's go Zigzagoon!" Said Naruto, releasing Zigzagoon.
"Zigzagoon!" Zigzagoon crouched low, ready and eager to help his Trainer win a Gym Battle.
"That's an interesting Zigzagoon you have there, Naruto. It's a Regional Variant, if I'm not mistake." Said Wattson, with Naruto nodding in response.
"Yeah, a Galarian one to be specific." Naruto replied.
"Let the match begin!" Declared Watt.
"Use Snarl Zigzagoon!" Said Naruto.
"Zagoon!" Zigzagoon opened his mouth, releasing a wave of purple and black rings towards Voltorb.
"Voltorb use Charge now!" Wattson said, with Voltorb vibrating quickly and releasing sparks of electricity, before it thrown back by Zigzagoon's Snarl, but was able to avoid taking more damage than it would have thanks to Charge.
"Now attack with Shock Wave!" Said Wattson.
"Vol-torb!" Voltorb jumped into the air as its body was surrounded by yellow electricity, before firing a beam of electricity towards Zigzagoon.
"Dodge it quickly Zigzagoon!" Naruto said, with Zigzagoon jumping off to the side to avoid the Shock Wave, only to cry out when it suddenly redirected itself and electrocuted him.
"What?!" Said Naruto, shocked at what just happened.
"Shock Wave can't be dodged, even if the Pokémon gets out of the way, it'll still follow after them until it hits. Now follow it up with Spark, Voltorb!" Wattson said, with Voltorb rushing towards Zigzagoon as its body was surrounded by electricity.
"Torb!" Voltorb then shot the electricity at the Dark/Normal-type, further damaging him
'Damn!' Naruto mentally cursed, seeing how badly this battle has started out.
"Zigzagoon use Assurance!" Naruto said, as Zigzagoon managed to stand up.
"Zig-zagoon!" Zigzagoon rushed towards Voltorb and tackled it, managing to inflict double the damage, thanks to the damage that he took earlier.
"Now use Headbutt!" Said Naruto, with Zigzagoon rushing Voltorb again and slamming his head into the Electric-type, sending it flying across the arena.
"Keep it up with Pin Missile!" Naruto said, with Zigzagoon's fur spiking up before he began launching a barrage of black and white needles towards Voltorb.
"Voltorb!" Voltorb fell to the ground as it was hit by the needle barrages.
"Get in close and use Iron Tail!" Said Naruto.
"Zagoon!" Zigzagoon rushed towards Voltorb, before leaping into the air as his tail glowed a metallic grey, before spinning around to slam it into Voltorb.
"Don't count us out just yet! Voltorb counter it with Screech!" Said Wattson, with Voltorb's body glowing blue.
"Vol-torb!" Voltorb released a high-pitched soundwave, with Zigzagoon being unable to dodge as they crashed into him, causing him to quickly cover his ears to try and block out the sound, canceling the Iron Tail in the process.
"Now use Sonic Boom!" Wattson said, as Voltorb now started spinning, releasing a large white shockwave towards the Tiny Raccoon Pokémon, sending him flying back.
"Zigzagoon!" Naruto said in worry at the damage he was taking, with Zigzagoon standing up with some effort.
"Voltorb use Rollout next!" Said Wattson, with Voltorb spinning around at high speeds, building up power and momentum.
"Vol-torb!" Voltorb then shot off towards Zigzagoon like a cannonball.
"Dodge it Zigzagoon!" Called Naruto, the Dark/Normal-type barely managing to dodge Voltorb as it sped past him, only to have to jump out of the way again, when Voltorb turned around and came back.
'This is really bad, Zigzagoon's already taken more damage than I expected, and now he can't even stop to attack or else Voltorb will crash into him.' Naruto thought while seeing that Zigzagoon could only dodge Voltorb's Rollout, wondering if he should switch him out with Zorua or Eevee.
Only to shake his head, since Zorua and Eevee don't really have any moves to counter Rollout, and would be stuck in the same situation. Sure Eevee had Dig, but there's no guarantee that would work, so Naruto would have to think of something to do.
Though looking back at the arena, Naruto soon got an idea of what to do.
"Zigzagoon, jump into the air and use Ice Beam on the ground!" Naruto said, with Zigzagoon doing so and jumping up as high as it could.
"Zigzag!" Zigzagoon opened his mouth, creating a glowing blue orb before firing several blue and white beams at the ground, covering the arena in ice.
"Voltorb stop now!" Wattson called out, only to be too late as Voltorb rolled onto the ice and lost control of itself, before it went crashing into the wall.
"V-Voltorb." Voltorb pulled itself out of the wall, having taken a lot of damage due to the power and speed it gained from Rollout.
"Alright Voltorb, time for a final move! Use Self-Destruct!" Said Wattson, knowing Voltorb won't last much longer and at least wanted to take Zigzagoon down as well.
"Voltorb!" Voltorb began glowing white with sparks of electricity emitting from it.
"Stop it with Iron Tail, Zigzagoon!" Naruto said quickly, with Zigzagoon rushing towards the Electric-type as his tail glowed a metallic grey.
"Zagoon!" Zigzagoon slammed his tail into Voltorb, before it could finish using Self-Destruct.
Only for Naruto and May to be shocked when Voltorb still exploded, with the smoke clearing, revealing both Voltorb and Zigzagoon with swirls in their eyes.
"V-Voltorb."
"Zig-zagoon."
"Both Voltorb and Zigzagoon are unable to battle! The match is a tie!" Watt called, when neither Pokémon got back up.
"But Zigzagoon stopped Self-Destruct, how did Voltorb still explode?" May said in confusion, as both Naruto and Wattson returned their Pokémon.
"That would be Voltorb's Ability, Aftermath. Whenever Voltorb would receive a knockout blow, it would explode. Damaging the opposing Pokémon, should the move that they used to take down Voltorb, be one that makes contact." Revealed Wattson, while surprising the two.
"Now then, onto round two, I believe! It's your turn, Mareep!" Wattson said, throwing out his second Pokémon.
Mareep is an ovine Pokémon with fluffy cream-colored wool covering its entire body, as well as a curly tuft of wool in the middle of its head. Its head is blue, and it has black eyes. Its four feet are blue and have two digits on each foot, and it appears to be on tiptoe at all times. Its conical ears and tail have a yellow-and-black striped pattern. Mareep has an orange sphere at the end of its tail, which acts like a small light bulb.
With Naruto and May once again scanning the Pokémon.
"Mareep, the Wool Pokémon. Mareep store static electricity in their wooly coats. They avoid battles and have mild dispositions."
"Okay, let's go Eevee!" Said Naruto, sending Eevee out next, as both Pokémon stood across from each other.
"Now use Dig!" Naruto said going straight on the offensive.
"Eevee!" Eevee immediately dug a hole and went underground.
"Be ready Mareep!" Wattson called out.
"Mareep." Mareep nodded, as she looked around for where Eevee could come out from.
Only to cry when Eevee jumped out of the ground directly below Mareep, sending the Wool Pokémon flying through the air, along with dealing massive damage.
"Use Cotton Spore, Mareep!" Said Wattson, with Mareep shaking herself in the air, releasing several white cotton balls right on top of Eevee, that clung to him, slowing him down.
"Now attack with Signal Beam!" Wattson said.
"Mar!" Mareep's tail orb glowed brightly, before firing a rainbow colored beam at Eevee.
"Eevee!" Called out Naruto, as Eevee began moving around slowly and confused.
"Eevee use Shadow Ball!" Naruto said, with Eevee shaking his head to try and focus, before firing a Shadow Ball at where he believed Mareep was, only to end up missing.
"Alright Mareep, use Charge and Electro Ball!" Said Wattson, as Mareep began sparking with yellow electricity before she formed a ball of electricity on her tail, which she launched at Eevee.
"Dodge it Eevee!" Said Naruto, only for Eevee's reduced Speed and Confusion to stop him from avoiding the Electro Ball, before crying out as it hit him.
"Now use Thunder Wave, Mareep!" Wattson said, with Mareep releasing thin streams of electricity from her body that hit Eevee, with him now being Paralyzed as well.
"E-Eevee." Eevee tried moving his body, only to have difficult due to the Paralysis, Confusion, and reduced Speed.
"Let's finish it with Take Down!" Said Wattson.
"Mar-eep!" Mareep charged towards Eevee at high speed, who tried getting out of the way.
'I really hope this works.' Naruto thought, waiting until Mareep was close enough.
"Dodge now Eevee and then use Bite!" Naruto said, with Eevee luckily being able to dodge at the last second, before biting down on Mareep's head.
"Now use Shadow Ball!" Said Naruto, causing Eevee to jump up and create a black and purple orb, before firing the Shadow Ball at point-blank range straight into Mareep.
When the smoke cleared, it revealed Eevee standing up and panting, while Mareep was laying on the ground with swirls in her eyes.
"M-Mar-eep."
"Mareep is unable to battle! The winner is Eevee!" Said Watt, with Wattson returning Mareep to her Pokéball.
"I must say Naruto, you're putting up quite the challenge. You must spend a lot of time training your Pokémon." Said Wattson, smiling at the whiskered blonde, which he returned and nodded.
"Yeah, but you're really pushing us farther than we've gone Wattson. Can you still go Eevee?" Naruto asked, while looking at the Evolution Pokémon.
"Eevee!" Eevee nodded, refusing to give up, despite how tired and weak he felt after battling Mareep.
'I just hope you're able to weaken Wattson's last Pokémon, so I can things with Zorua.' Thought Naruto, knowing Eevee won't be able to last long against Wattson's last Pokémon, but only hoped he'd be able to weaken them enough.
Since even if the lowered Speed and Confusion can be fixed by switching Eevee out, the Paralysis could still be a problem. Especially as from Naruto's research at Birch's Lab let him learn that the longer a Pokémon is Paralyzed, the more likely it will keep them from moving.
"Now, let's see how you handle my final Pokémon! Come out, Pikachu!" Wattson said, while releasing his third Pokémon.
Pikachu is a short, chubby rodent Pokémon. It is covered in yellow fur with two horizontal brown stripes on its back. It has a small mouth, long, pointed ears with black tips, and brown eyes. Each cheek is a red circle that contains a pouch for electricity storage. It has short forearms with five fingers on each paw, and its feet each have three toes. At the base of its lightning bolt-shaped tail is a patch of brown fur.
As Naruto and May scanned it, they noticed how Wattson's Pikachu seemed to be a darker shade of yellow than the image on their Pokédexes, making them realize his must be a Shiny Pikachu.
"Pikachu, the Mouse Pokémon. It can generate electric attacks from the electric pouches, located in both of its cheeks."
"Pikachu use Agility, followed by Double Kick!" Wattson said, with Pikachu getting down all fours before rushing forward, vanishing in bursts of speed.
"Pika-Pika-Pika-Pika-Pika-Pika!" Pikachu soon appeared right in front of Eevee and slammed his foot into him, before following up with another kick, launching Eevee back and dealing a large amount of damage.
"Eevee use Dig to get away!" Said Naruto, as Eevee struggled to dig a hole, before managing to get underground and away from Pikachu.
"Use Rain Dance Pikachu!" Said Wattson, causing Pikachu to dance around as clouds formed overhead before rain fell down from them.
"Now use Charge Beam!" Wattson said, Pikachu jumping up as it charged up a yellow orb in his mouth.
"Charge Beam won't work while Eevee's underground." Naruto stated, not knowing why he'd be wasting an attack like that.
"That's right, it normally wouldn't work, if not for a single factor." Replied Wattson, before pointing up at the rainclouds, making Naruto look up only for his eyes to widen as he immediately looked back at the arena to see the water was also seeping into the tunnels that Eevee had dig.
"Eevee get out from there now!" Said Naruto quickly, not wanting him to get hurt that much, only for it to be too late, with the Evolution Pokémon to being stuck underground, due to the Confusion and Paralysis.
"Pika-chu!" Pikachu then fired the Charge Beam into the hole, with the Electric-type attack using the water to guide it straight to Eevee.
Resulting in Eevee crying out as an explosion erupted from beneath the arena.
"Eevee!" Naruto said in worry for his Pokémon.
When the smoke cleared, it revealed Eevee stumbling out of the ground, only to fall over, fainting with swirls in his eyes.
"Eevee is unable to battle! The winner is Pikachu!" Watt said, with Naruto sighing as he returned Eevee.
"You and Zigzagoon both did great, now get some rest. And now, it's your turn Zorua!" Said Naruto as he released Zorua, knowing it was now down to one-on-one with Wattson already having an advantage from the rain and Pikachu's Special Attack being raised from Charge Beam.
"Pikachu use Charge Beam again!" Said Wattson, with Pikachu charging up another yellow orb, before firing the attack at Zorua.
"Zorua dodge it and use Copycat!" Naruto said, with Zorua jumping out of the way of the Charge Beam, before his body gained a yellow aura as he charged up his own yellow orb.
"Zor-ua!" Zorua fired his own Charge Beam at Pikachu, though while it didn't do a lot of damage, it still did a decent amount thanks to the rain, while boosting Zorua's own Special Attack.
"Use Agility, along with Quick Attack and Nuzzle!" Wattson said.
"Pika!" Pikachu once again vanished in bursts of speed, with Zorua trying to follow his movements only to lose sight of him, before crying out when Pikachu reappeared and tackled him from the side.
Before Pikachu then grabbed hold of Zorua and nuzzled his cheek against the Dark-type, electrocuting Zorua as well, with the rain only adding further damage to the attack.
"Now attack with Double Kick!" Said Wattson, causing Pikachu to jump up and aim to kick Zorua.
"Not so fast! Zorua, knock Pikachu back with Extrasensory!" Said Naruto, as Zorua recovered from being shocked, before looking at Pikachu with glowing gold eyes.
"Zor!" Zorua opened his mouth, firing a rainbow-colored energy beam at Pikachu, stopping his Double Kick and throwing the Mouse Pokémon back.
"Now switch to Dark Pulse!" Naruto said, with Zorua's eyes losing their gold glow as he stopped using Extrasensory and now launched a beam of black and purple rings at Pikachu.
Naruto smiling at seeing the combo of Extrasensory and Dark Pulse caused Pikachu to flinch, giving them an opening.
"Use Leer Zorua, then get in close and use Feint Attack!" Said Naruto, Zorua's eyes glowing red as he glared at Pikachu, who shivered as his Defense fell.
Zorua then rushed towards Pikachu from the left, before vanishing and reappearing to his right. Only for his Paralysis to kick in, causing the Trick Fox Pokémon to stumble before the attack could connect. Which also gave Pikachu the time needed to recover from flinching and go back on the offensive.
"Alright Pikachu, use Thundershock!" Said Wattson, as Pikachu's body sparked with electricity.
"Pika-chuuuu!" Pikachu fired a bolt of lightning towards Zorua, the Dark-type crying out as it crashed into him.
"Z-Zo-Zoru-a." Zorua struggled to stand up against the Paralysis and damage he just took.
"Come on Zorua, you can do this! Don't give up now, I know you can keep going!" Naruto said, encouraging his Starter, with Zorua panting before forcing himself to stand up and fight against the Paralysis.
"Zorua!" Zorua nodded in determination, refusing to lose now.
With Wattson smiling at the bond Naruto had with his Pokémon, seeing he's certainly an exceptional young Trainer.
"Pikachu use Agility, Quick Attack, and Nuzzle again!" Wattson said.
"Pika!" Pikachu once again vanished in bursts of speed as he made his way towards Zorua.
"Zorua, track Pikachu's movements through the rain!" Said Naruto, with Zorua looking around for disturbances in the rain, before finally locking on to where Pikachu was moving.
"Let's show them our own combo, use Aerial Ace and Sucker Punch!" Naruto said.
"Zor!" Zorua rushed forward as his body was surrounded by white streaks, before he leapt into the air and divebombed to where Pikachu was, with the Electric-type jumping up towards Zorua as well.
The two collided against each other, before Zorua reared his head back and headbutted Pikachu with Sucker Punch, as both Pokémon fell to the ground on their last legs.
"Let's finish this now Pikachu, use Shock Wave!" Said Wattson, with Pikachu's body sparking with electricity.
"Chuuuuuu!" Pikachu then fired a beam of yellow electricity towards Zorua.
"Zorua use Shadow Ball and Dark Pulse!" Naruto said, knowing he can't dodge the attack, so he'll have Zorua overpower it.
"Zor-ua!" Zorua charged up a Shadow Ball before firing it towards the Shock Wave, along with combining it with Dark Pulse to the Shadow Ball's power, causing the attacks to collide together, each trying to overpower the other.
With Pikachu's Shock Wave starting to overpower Zorua's Shadow Ball and Dark Pulse, thanks to the rain and the two Charge Beams he used earlier.
"Zorua use Extrasensory as well!" Said Naruto, causing Zorua's eyes to glow gold before it fired a rain-colored beam as well, combining with the Dark Pulse-infused Shadow Ball.
The three combined attacks starting to push back the Shock Wave, before finally pushing right through it towards Pikachu, colliding against the Mouse Pokémon, sending him crashing into the wall.
When the smoke cleared, it revealed Pikachu lying on the ground with swirls in his eyes.
"Pikachu is unable to battle, the winner is Zorua! The winner of the match is Naruto Uzumaki!" Watt declared.
"Well done Pikachu." Wattson said, smiling as he returned Pikachu to his Pokéball.
"Alright! We did it Zorua!" Naruto cheered.
"Zor!" Zorua smiled tiredly, glad to have helped his Trainer win another Gym Battle.
Though while Naruto was happy to have won his second Gym Battle, he had to admit this one was much tougher than his battle against Roxanne.
'And this is just my second Gym Battle, who knows how much harder the other six are going to be. We're really going to need to step up our training.' Naruto thought, knowing the other Gym Leaders were going to be even tougher to beat than Wattson.
Naruto was pulled from his thoughts though, when May glomped him.
"You did it! Way to go Naruto-kun!" Said May, smiling at her boyfriend before kissing him on the cheek, happy for his victory, with Naruto smiling at the brunette as well.
*Later*
"Naruto, that was truly an amazing battle, you and your Pokémon really showed your stuff today." Wattson said, smiling at the Uzumaki, which Naruto returned.
"Thank you Wattson, I wasn't sure I could beat you a few times, but I never gave up and was able to pull out a win." Replied Naruto, with Wattson nodding in agreement.
"That you did and it's with that, I'm proud to present you with the Dynamo Badge. Along with the TM containing Shock Wave, as proof of your victory." Wattson said, holding out both the Badge and TM for Naruto, with him taking both items and adding the Dynamo Badge to his Badge Case.
With his prizes in hand, Naruto and May waved goodbye to Wattson and Watt, as they made their way back to the Pokémon Center, so his Pokémon could rest and recover. Wanting to make sure they were all rested and ready for when they left Mauville, and decide to hit the road again.
So, what did you think, good. Yep we see Naruto and May have both gotten new Pokémon from the Game Corner, with Naruto getting a Bagon and May getting an Absol, along with Naruto having sent Gallade to Professor Birch's Lab, so he didn't become reliant on him as his strongest Pokémon. Then we see them heading to the Gym, along with a short cameo of Max and Brendan during "Jirachi Wish Maker", before going back to Naruto and May entering the Gym only to find out it's a maze with traps. With the two soon encountering the Raikou robots, soon realizing they weren't real before Wattson and Watt arrive, and the battle begins. Naruto seeing just how much stronger Wattson is compared to Roxanne, but manages to pull out a win in the end, earning him the Dynamo Badge and TM containing Shock Wave, before he and May return to the Pokémon Center to get his team rested and healed. Now onto the Omake!
Omake: Sound Trouble
'You'd think they wouldn't try to do anything stupid to draw attention to us, clearly I overestimated their ability to think.' Orochimaru thought as he and Kabuto just finished dealing with the remainder of his subordinates that had the bright idea of trying to go out and cause trouble.
Despite how Orochimaru specifically ordered all of them to not do such a thing and draw unneeded attention to them. But it seemed they were under the impression he was "going soft" by not trying to take over a land, where no one else has Chakra. Leading to them having to simply be dealt with permanently, as the Snake Sannin would prefer not having to deal with his foolish subordinates causing trouble.
Which now left him with only three left, not counting Tayuya, Kimimaro, Guren, and Yukimaru. Those three being Suigetsu Hozuki, Jugo, and Karin Uzumaki. The latter of whom was once a Kusa Kunoichi, that he recruited during the Chūnin Exams, with it not being too difficult to convince her to switch sides. Given how not only was her team killed in the Forest of Death, but Karin was also treated rather poorly in Kusagakure as they abused her ability to heal others by biting her.
Something that would have ultimately killed Karin, like it did her mother.
Though Orochimaru's attention turned to his Xtransceiver, a very useful device that allowed for long distance communication, when it started ringing. Turning it on, the Sannin was greeted to the sight of Tayuya on the other end.
"Aaaah, Tayuya, reporting in. Tell me, what is your progress so far in locating Naruto?" Said Orochimaru.
"Slower than a fucking icebergs movement. I'm not even with the two dumbasses and the kid anymore, since I was getting tired of their bullshit arguing and sexual tension. With it getting to the point that if I didn't leave, I was going to put my head through a goddamn wall. Also I've entered myself into the Hoenn League and just got by second Badge from Lavaridge Town, and I'm currently on my way to Rustboro City for my third one." Tayuya said bluntly, with both Orochimaru and Kabuto feeling dumbfounded and embarrassed to hear this.
"Shouldn't have sent those two together." Muttered Kabuto as he pinched the bridge of his nose, while Orochimaru rubbed his temples.
"Well…that was smart of you to leave, allowing you to cover more ground. And knowing Naruto, he's likely entered the Hoenn League as well, so there's a chance she'll encounter him either at one of the Gyms. And if not at one of them, then certainly at the Ever Grande Conference. Ask around at any Gyms you visit, if they've seen anyone matching his description, he's likely already collected at least some badges of his own." Said Orochimaru, with Tayuya nodding with a small smirk on her face.
"Will do, I'll report in if I find anything." Tayuya replied before ending the call.
*With Tayuya*
'HA! In your smug fucking faces, assholes! I'm doing a better job than you!' Tayuya thought, mentally laughing, while feeling pleased at the fact she just got praised by Orochimaru for doing a good job in trying to find the Shithead.
"Gastly?"
Tayuya was pulled from her thoughts at hearing her Starter getting her attention.
"Aaaah, nothing to worry about Gastly. Just thinking of how I'm going to rub something into the faces of those two dumbasses, we ditched." Said Tayuya, with Gastly simply nodding as it was also glad, when its Trainer separated from the others.
"Now, let's get moving, we still got six more Gym Leaders, who's asses we need to kick and a blonde runt to find." Tayuya said as they continued on their way towards Rustboro City.
*With Guren, Kimimaro, and Yukimaru*
"So, ready to admit I was right?" Guren said, while glaring at Kimimaro, who simply glared back at her.
"You were right about nothing. If we had done things your way, we would be nowhere near finding the boy." Retorted Kimimaro.
"Oh really?! Well in case you didn't realize, we're completely lost!" Shouted Guren, while motioning to their surroundings.
"We are not lost! There was a sign back there saying we're heading towards Lilycove City!" Kimimaro said.
"A sign that was three miles back! And Lilycove City is on the other side of Hoenn! You'd know that if you waited long enough to actually look to see where we're going!" Guren retorted.
"I do know where we're going! It's you who simply can't accept that you were wrong!" Yelled Kimimaro.
"I accept that you're an idiot that couldn't find the ocean, if you were standing right next to it!" Shouted Guren.
"And I accept, you're an arrogant fool that never learned their place!" Kimimaro retorted.
"At least I can tell east from west!"
"At least I'm actually doing something, instead of complaining!"
'Why couldn't I have gone with Tayuya-Oneechan?' Yukimaru thought while sighing in annoyance, as even he was starting to get annoyed at the arguing and banter.
With it not helping that when Tayuya tried getting him his own Pokémon, Guren stopped her, saying it'd be too dangerous and that he was too young. With Tayuya then eventually leaving as well, after she couldn't deal with the arguing anymore, leaving Yukimaru alone to deal with it.
'But I guess they're getting better; they haven't started attacking each other yet.' Thought Yukimaru thought, given how Guren and Kimimaro would usually end up fighting, when things escalated between them.
The boy guessing they were starting to get closer, which hopefully meant the banter will stop soon as well.
And we get another look at Orochimaru, seeing he's dealt with some of his more troublesome subordinates, before being contacted by Tayuya, learning she's split off from Guren, Kimimaro, and Yukimaru, and entered the Hoenn League, along with seeing her Starter is a Gastly, which Orochimaru praises as it's likely she'll encounter Naruto who'd also likely be in the Hoenn League. Before we then see how far off Kimimaro, Guren, and Yukimaru are from where Naruto is, now being on the other side of Hoenn. So, review if you liked go away if you didn't.
