Day 11: Giga Bowser
Super Smash Bros Ultimate is seen by many as a game that documents gaming history. From the playable characters, to the stages, to the spirits you collect, and even some of the boss battles that you fight in the game. For example, the battles against characters like Dracula and Ganon play out very similar to their original boss battles in Castlevania and Ocarina of Time respectively, right down to Dracula having a second phase and having to his Ganon's tail to do the most damage.
But even more interesting than that, two of the bosses in the game are bosses that were in previous games in the Super Smash Bros series. And one of them just so happens to be the first boss of Ultimate's World of Light campaign. Originally the super boss of Super Smash Bros. Melee, say hello again to Giga Bowser!
That's right, the super difficult super boss against Giga Bowser is now the first boss of World of Light. Everything from the original fight is here: His souped-up move set, his ability to hit you like a truck, and once again his normal attacks have the potential to inflict you with elemental damage.
However, the fight against has been nerfed in World of Light.
(Lyra appears)
Lyra: I should hope so, God Giga Bowser was already a pain. Especially since you fight him in Smash Ultimate's Final Destination stage this time, which looks a lot smaller when compared to the arena you fight him in Melee, meaning its harder for you to dodge his attacks...You know what, how is this fight made easier?
Me: Let me explain.
(Back to the fight)
For one thing, Giga Bowser has a health bar so you don't have to push him out of the arena. Just keep hitting the big lug and enduring its hits until it goes down.
Second, in the beginning of World of Light, you have difficulty options, you know easy, medium, hard, that stuff. Select easy and there you, make Giga Bowser your bitch. But for those of you who crave the challenge and adrenaline of the original Giga Bowser fight, select Hard mode and may God be with you.
And did I mention that the music accompanying this fight is the original Giga Bowser theme from Smash Bros. Melee?
If there's one word I can use to describe this battle, it's nostalgia. It's the same badass fight against Giga Bowser we all love to hate only remade for the modern generation. Now gamers of today will know the pain us 2000's kids had to go through back in the day! Hooray! Pain and misery for all!
…
Lyra might be right, I think I do have issues.
