Any plans I had for any secrecy completely went out the door as soon as I killed the monster and began using my powers heroism. From that point forward I had gained public awareness, and I was perfect fine with it, as the benefits most certainly outweighed any cons for a variety of reasons.
"So boss we just continue cleaning up and evacuation?"
"Yeah, oh, did you find out what City we're in?"
"City B, and between A and Z."
"Good to know, see if you can find any guys who's job is city reconstruction too, we should help out with that as much as possible. Also find a place for Tatsumaki to stay, treat her well." I motioned to the litte esper standing at my side.
"Aye aye." My cell saluted, before taking Tatsumaki's hand. "Let's go get you some ice cream." He said. I nodded in approval of my other me's idea.
Back to the matter at hand.
Unsurprisingly billions of free manpower were useful for large scale projects and would obviously make rebuilding go much faster, and in turn boost my reputation.
Hopefully any present construction workers would be thankful for the extra hands to command around... since I had no idea how to do that work myself. At least not yet.
Certainly I hoped it would give a lot of people a good impression of me despite my obvious appearance a mysterious being. As of now there seemed to be an odd mix of feelings towards me consisting of thankfulness, some wariness, and a small tinge of fear.
But other then being wary there was no notable violence hostility, either from civilians or the military, which was or course better then my expected reaction of being hunted down.
I think it was the way I used my powers to the benefit of City B that seemed to discourage most from negative feelings. And it was also probably intimidation...
Which I sort of got why, I certainly wouldn't want to provoke a swarm of small black creatures that managed to kill a monster who destroyed parts of their City in mere minutes... who instead of causing chaos was helping.
Of course I was on the side of justice and humanity, so either one or hundreds of people throwing rocks or shooting bullets at me wouldn't be enough to convince me villainy was better. I was well aware of the stupidity of people in times of fear.
Used to be a squishy human too after all.
Plus I watched the show, read the manga, and webcomic, monsters that actively engage in violence towards humans don't usually live long... so stay in the world of the living, gotta be a hero.
I ended up finding out a little later from another duplicate the intense negative emotions towards mysterious beings weren't as much present currently was because mysterious beings in themselves were still rather rare as of this period in time. Especially strong and dangerous ones like the former giant zombie.
It was just as I thought, with this latest one I killed being one of the few strongest ones having appeared in actually quite a few years. So there wasn't any noticeable animosity or significant feelings towards them in general yet.
That was good, also allowed me more negotiating power as most people wouldn't immediately assume that I had destructive or harmful intentions. Well enough to where I wouldn't be stifled too much.
Once things calm down with the civilians being fully secured, the old commander my duplicate told me about apparently was given orders to take me, or one of the "main" ones of me to speak with his higher ups in the government about why I, a mysterious being, was providing assistance to humans, as well as my intentions with City B.
Though I was told I might have to wait awhile for another call as they figured out what to discuss how to interact with me and had another discussion for what had happened in City B.
Maybe a few days even, as the situation was reported through the chain of command, and they decided what sort of announcement or response to the public they wanted to give.
Heh, bureaucracy...
I naturally cooperated with this request. Not like it matters since I can be in literally any place at once. Very conveniently including to leave Tatsumaki back with my other duplicates to find some place to stay.
Due to all of the cells being me I never actually left her side to begin with.
So long as we merged back within a decent span of time all of my duplicates were pretty much on the same page in terms of memories, knowledge, and motivations.
They all were for the most part an extension of the original will of myself give or take a few differences, but in the end we were all still the same being. So all desired to help, assist, and protect Tatsumaki pretty much the same way as myself, regardless of time apart.
Inspecting the current area later in the day I noticed a few of my cells leading an old guy in a suit to me. A local government official?
"My hero!" The man suddenly yelled out.
Huh?
Then only a moment later he dove to my feet, kowtowing.
"Oh thank you! Thank you! If it wasn't for you I would've lost them!" He cried out.
And now he was crying at my feet... cmon man I'm just doing my job here! I mean thanks for stroking my ego, but at least some self respect... jeesh.
"Yeah... you're welcome."
"My daughters... oh, I don't how I could possibly repay you- oh!" Suddenly he got up the ground, his face switched from tear filled to extremely serious unnaturally fast.
"I apologize for not getting to the point here. My name isVeil, I am the current owner of a local financial consulting firm here in City B. Due to your actions having been directly responsible for saving the lives of my precious daughters..." Veil paused.
"Anything you want of mine... I am willing to give to you... I am quite the wealthy man you see, estimated me to have assets valued in over one hundred billion yen." He spoke solemnly, closing his eyes. "So nothing is beyond my abilities to acquire."
"Uh...
This was a good albeit unexpected development. So a rich guy was this thankful huh?
Well, all I really need is a nice house, and a source of income. He said anything though... a bunch of cash? He wouldn't be hurting for that anytime soon, and I probably didn't need much for living expenses... well Tatsumaki did, and she just came out of a lab. I'll need to spoiler her until she suffocates with the affection she never received.
Hrm, well I'll just take half of all his wealth then, and maybe a mansion if he owned one. Not like he needed it, apparently the guy was a... multi-billionaire? However much a hundred billion yen to USD was.
So he was at least loaded enough to where he and his family wouldn't have to work for the rest of their lives, and even then still live a lavish lifestyle. He didn't lose much at all, honestly, and it helped me out a lot more.
What else did 'anything' pertain to...
Money was cool and all but everyone's had varying amounts money before. What about his company? That was way more interesting, something about being a CEO or Chairman of a business or organization just sounded like it would be fun to mess around with, or maybe that was just me.
I also got a devilishly good idea for monetizing my powers for my own profit. Ha... ha... renting out my cells...
So that other thing took care of my housing problems instantly, and gave me another project to mess around with.
"Half your money, a mansion, and your entire company." I announced.
"Very well." He nodded. "I expect my company Thunder Assistance will be in good hands."
Ok Thunder Assistance wasn't really cutting it for me, in terms of naming aesthetics.
"Can I rename it?"
"Of course, did you have anything in mind?"
Sperm Corporation? No that kinda sounds like something a Sperm Bank would be called. Needs to be something similar to that to honor the original Black Sperm however, or something with a similar naming convention though- oh! I just had a great idea!
One of Black Sperm's alternative names translated from Japanese. Black Spermatozoon!
Getting rid of the Black part so it wouldn't sound too redundant, or just alluding to the name I'm using.
Spermatozoon for a part of my company's new name sounded pretty fantastic. What should the new name be the ?
Spermatozoon Corporation?
Spermatozoon Company?
Was there something specific or a general goal I wanted to do with the company besides generally supporting me? Now that I was suddenly thrusted into a position of potential wealth and power I needed to be something responsible with it.
After thinking it over again I realized that there was actually quite a few possibilities I realized that I could utilize a company for, beyond messing around. Like filling in the spot for a certain hero organization...
Since the Hero Association wasn't due to be founded for nearly two decades I might as well get a head start on it in the meantime, that way I can focus on making a better replacement for them.
Without any corruption and 100% more efficient at protecting humanity from mysterious being threats.
And it would also make for a good support base for me to fall back on in case I don't want to waste too many cells on every dragon that pops up.
Could get my own hero or army forces going and some- Oh yeah! I could hire Genus and Bofoi!
Get myself a giant robot army, then use Genus and mess around with his other projects as well...
Regenerative immortality and eternal life looked pretty sweet. Cloning seemed cool too, although technically I could already do that.
Not really sure if I needed to modify my genetic code to live longer, if monsters aged at all, but if I could make a Golden Sperm that can regenerate from all wounds like Zombieman then I think I would finally feel a little teensy bit better about having to eventually fight that fucking overpowered alien Boros and that thing that calls itself GOD.
Yeah... that would be helpful. Now that I think about it, even Boros had regeneration... damn... I have a lot of work to do. If I accidentally blip Saitama out- wait I think he's alive now, or just a baby now I mean.
So after doing some more internal monologuing I came up with a new and rather ingenious name for this former financial firm and pseudo-world domination corporation that I would use mostly for humanitarian purposes, and maybe use a bit selfishly from time to time:
Spermatozoon Association
Where my mission statement would be the protection, expansion, and advancement of humanity through biologicaland technological projects. Alongsidemany side business ventures for profit to support these activities.
After that I promptly started to plan firing everyone who worked for the company previously, in maybe a week. Not quite yet.
Needed a fresh start without the possibility of any interference from unknown people, also wanted to restructure things so that way all so that most of the employees would just be me at the start. I also wanted to simplify things for a bit, until I could organize it how I desired better.
I wasn't a psychopath so I planned gave everyone I was firing a small fortune, and enough to move away to another City and last at most a couple years without having to work.
Also had the former most important managers and specialist workers start educating my duplicates on every responsibility and job that the company had, as to make the transition into 100% sperm employees much smoother.
Having my duplicates learn things, then merge back for me to acquire new memories and skills was so unbelievably convenient and overpowered, and yet I still felt like I needed more.
A day had passed between saving the city, rebuilding it, acquiring money, then getting a new abode and Tatsumaki moved in. Finally, things were really starting to go my way!
On a similar note, I had my duplicates buy some fancy clothing for Tats to wear from some of the money I got. As so she would properly look like a little rich kid of Company Chairman. I thought it might be kinda cute too.
Also got my duplicates also decided to get Tats some actual food, then ice cream as desert. Then after spending a couple nights in a hotel I saved she was fully relocated to the newly proclaimed Sperm Mansion.
I again ordered my clones to get her more stuff including some toys, books, and then just to play with her. Then eventually to ask her if she wanted to be adopted by me.
The main reason why I had bombarded Tats with so many material things was pretty much my attempt at bribery. I ended up deciding after considering all the future threats the planet will face that I should keep her close, both for my own protection and to make sure she turns out to be a good person and hero.
Not a hard task when you had infinite babysitters, all capable of learning new skills faster then a human is capable of through sheer numbers including some child psychology.
Meanwhile I had some others go ask all the nearest government guys and my own to search up on the internet for Fubuki's whereabouts. But I kept all of them in the City, not yet really wanting to split up my cells too far away.
Until the meeting that commander guy said would arrive, which was taking an awful long time, I decided to check back up on Tats at the house real quick. Just after I had finished finalizing the transfer of the company and renaming.
I arrived to see Tats sobbing into one of my cells and being held by the same one.
Uh... what?
Did something happen while I was out? Not sure what to make of this... emotional situation I walked in on.
"Yo Boss." A duplicate nearby suddenly walked up and whispered to me.
"We offered her the adoption thing, she accepted, which is good. But then she started crying all of a sudden. So we're trying to comfort her again." My other self explained.
Oh so that what it was, I think I got it now. Being overwhelmed with gifts and niceness... well if you're living in a prison lab for a few years suddenly being treated like royalty that would be pretty shocking.
Hmm... too bad I wasn't there to witness a touching moment... oh! Right, I could just absorb the memories from a duplicate. Right.
"Merge back, I wanna see how that went." The singular cell complied.
Original me decided to go with the parental adoption route, good choice, though I guess we were all thinking it too.
"You like your new outfit?"
"Yeah, it looks kinda funny though."
It was a white dress shirt and black skirt.
"Better then that gown."
"Y-Yeah."
A minute of silence passed. Mmm, feels a bit awkward. Guess I'll break the silence.
"Hey uh, I know this is a bit sudden but, how do you feel about adoption?"
"?!" Tatsumaki eyes widened.
"I mean I guess I've already done that with moving you in here after all. But I was just making sure to ask your permission for this, since I've just sort of been leading you around this whole time and h-hey are there you alright?"
Tatsumaki sniffled, and looked like she was holding back tears.
"Hey there, it's ok... don't cry." I hugged and patted her back, the action was reciprocated by a tighter squeeze by the esper.
Well, that was something... Tatsumaki was taken care of good by my cells at least, hopefully about as good as the original me. I wasn't really in any doubt.
A knocking at the door interrupted my thoughts. A visitor?
Opening the door I saw that same old military commander from before.
"We're ready to take you in, if you're ready."
I nodded. "Alright. Let's go."
Ten people of importance were sitting in an emergency meeting roog, the currently available and most important cabinet members of the world government.
The Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense, and the Minister of City Reconstruction, all sat near each other on long table. There was seven other unnamed members of the cabinet seated along the table as well.
The Prime Minister spoke up. "As of yesterday I've been alerted to a situation that had occurred in City B. A being we now know as 'Black Sperm' has just made an appearance, and if the Minister of Defense is to be believed... then he has dispatched another fellow mysterious being the army had failed to combat." He paused.
"As of now, this Black Sperm is currently providing assistance to the City construction and evacuation teams. If you would elaborate, Minister of City Reconstruction." He finished.
"Yes. Post fighting the mysterious being has offered his services and is currently helping the local construction teams rebuild. Using his ability to split himself into a number of duplicates as well as above human strength to move wreckage, Black Sperm is providing manual labor support numbering in the millions." The Construction Minister explained.
"My god!"
"Did you get an exact number of them?"
"Our own estimations were inconclusive as many have the ability to merge back together making a guess nigh impossible, however we had one of our on the ground men ask one of them directly and they stated they could approximately make... five hundred billion at one time." There was surprised reactions all around.
"F-five hundred b-billion!!!"
"Holy shit!"
"Isn't that the average male sperm production in a lifetime?"
"Why the hell is that something you know!?"
"Shut up for a moment!" The Prime Minister yelled out, silencing the room." Don't you realize what this means?!"
"What does it mean mister Prime Minister?!"
"It means that we have just encountered one of the most potentially strongest mysterious beings in recorded history! One that has has the ability to split himself an almost infinitesimally large amount of times... and it has just allied itself with humanity!"
"!" All came to the sudden realization.
"We can weaponize it against other mysterious beings!" The Minister of Defense suddenly spoke.
"That sounds risky relying on one of them."
"Is it doing anything now?"
"Apparently it did have a minor request in exchange for its services." Spoke the Prime Minister.
"Demands then?"
"Hopefully it doesn't try to ransom the City on us..."
"It's nothing severe, and it's actually quite a small thing. It said it simply just wanted to have the necessary legal information that would help him incorporate himself into human society and alongside that recognized citizenship which would apply in all Cities."
"What should we do?"
"What should we do?" The Prime Minister repeated back in a mocking manner.
"What else can we do?" He continued. It has the entirety of City B in it's grasp with its nigh endless supply of clones! We do not have the support of the people or army morale to move against someone that has saved lives and is already helping rebuild the City, it's request is very reasonable so it only makes sense that we should comply for now."
"Are sure why can trust it?"
"I almost feel like we're giving into something terrible..."
"I'm just as anxious as you all are about this. A monster killing one of its own kind then assisting humans in the aftermath of destruction... is an extremely unprecedented situation, but one where we must remain wary of due to its known nature. We simply do not have the current capabilities to go against such a being with immense power, ao as of now so I feel it is best to go along with his wishes."
"What about Blast? Can we call him?" One minister suggested.
"Blast... can kiss my ass! As far as we've seen he's only ever arrived on seen when we've practically lost the battle completely, Black Sperm has already done more for a single City then he has all of them together! Leaving us in the aftermath!"
"That is true... and powerful good samaritans are hard to keep track of, many often don't stay behind to help. Black Sperm has already shown his willingness to cooperate with his, perhaps even more so then him."
The Prime Minister sighed. "Alright then it's settled. Any following questions?"
"What's the status of City B's construction?"
"The moment before his arrival 30% percent of City B had been destroyed by the monster we have dubbed 'Rotting Gray Zombie'. As of now City B is operating at nearly 90% of it's original functions again." The Construction Minister said.
"W-what?! That fast?!"
"...Incredible! Do you think we can strike a deal and get him deployed to other Cities?"
"Let's not get too hasty here. He's still a mysterious after all."
"One of the good ones."
"AHEM, there is also one other development I would like to mention. One regarding City B's resident multi-billionaire Veil." The Minister of Construction spoke up.
"What about him?"
"As a reward for saving his children, Veil has given Black Sperm half his wealth and transferred ownership of his corporation to him."
"What...?!" Many around the room had baffled and nervous expressions.
"It's anyones guess what he plans to do with such wealth. But the implications of a mysterious being acquiring this much money, with this much individual power, is rather concerning. Which is why I would like to make a request of the Defense Minister."
"Yes?"
"Currently Black Sperm has shown himself willing to fight his own kind. I would like for you to see if you can strike some sort of deal with him and see if he's willing to provide more assistance against such threats, as a means of maintaining positive relations and a connection to him without provocation."
"I will see what I can do."
"If that's everything, everyone is dismissed."
"Black Sperm I presume?"
"Yo."
"Nice to meet you, I am the Minisrer of Defense. You may refer to me as Steel."
"Nice to meet you Steel, I'm... Black Sperm... you can call me Black though for simplicity sake." They shook hands.
"...So what's going? You guys had have your meeting?"
"Yes. We have decided to grant you your request for citizenship and legal identification, we were also wondering if you were willing to provide support against other mysterious being threats should they arise." He said simply.
"Absolutely! God I really hate those guys, always making a mess of things, like don't they have anything more productive to do? What a waste of space they are." Black Sperm complained.
Steel was normally a stoic man, a master of hiding his emotions from others. Yet he couldn't help but display a bit of surprise at Black Sperm's blatant annoyance and dislike of mysterious beings.
Yes, this was certainly an unprecedented situation, as the Prime Minister had put it.
The Minister of Defense nodded in acceptance, then took out a phone and handed it to Black Sperm.
"Very well, I have a special phone I would like to call you from created for special long distance calls, I'm unsure as to what sort of schedule or activities you will engage with your new company... however since you seem always available due to your powers I would request you answer whenever you are available."
"Oooh nice! Looking foward to working with you."
Steel smiled. "As am I."
On the inside Steel hadn't let his guard down a single bit, despite his tone of voice feeling genuine he felt as if the mysterious being was hiding something.
No, obviously he was hiding something, no single member of his kind would so willingly provide the sheer amount of help he had done. Not beings as egotistical and human threatening them.
He must find out what he was hiding, if he was to ensure humanities safety. It was his duty after all.
