Day 24: Robo-Sandy

Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom, regarded as one of the best Spongebob games ever and one of the best licensed games ever, and it's not hard to see why. The whole game gives great nods to the cartoon (the remake even gives nods to some of the memes surrounding the show) and it even feels like you're playing an episode of the show.

As much as I want to gush about the game itself, I have a job to do and that job is to talk about this game's first boss, and no it's not King Jellyfish. He's honestly more of a mini boss, not to mention he's optional if you're not going for 100%. That means I'll be talking about this game's first real boss fight: Robo-Sandy.

(Note: I'll be talking about the Rehydrated version as that's the version I played)

In the first phase, Robo-Sandy will try and either body slam Spongebob, karate chop him if he gets too close, or pull off a ground pound. These attacks are relatively easy to avoid, but when she does her ground pound it'll send Spongebob flying in the air. That's when you do your own ground pound onto the arena, causing Robo-Sandy's head to fly off and hit the lights above you. Do this three times and the scoreboard will fall from the ceiling, and then it's onto phase two where you play as Patrick.

In this phase, Robo-Sandy gains a new clothesline move where she moves from one side of the arena to the next by bouncing off the ropes of the arena. When she does this, her legs will stretch out and Patrick will need to jump over them to dodge them.

After a while, Robo-Sandy will do another ground pound. Dodge it to do your own ground pound so Robo-Sandy will lose her head once again. Grab her head and throw it into the exposed wiring of the scoreboard to do some damage. Do this two more times and Spognebob is back for the final phase.

In the final phase, Robo-Sandy's attacks remain the same, but now when she does her clothesline attack, she'll stretch out her arms and her legs so dodging needs to be more precise.

Eventually, Robo-Sandy will once again do a ground pound that you need to dodge so you can do your own ground pound. This time however, Robo-Sandy will hold onto her head, meaning you have to use your Bubble Bash move to do damage to the head. Do this two more times and the fight is over.

The fight against Robo-Sandy is a fight that starts out easy enough, but gets more challenging as it goes on due to her clothesline attacks and the different methods you use to hit the head. Definitely a good way to start off a game like Spongebob Squarepants Battle for Bikini Bottom.
