There was a bar that sat in a lonely district of City X right next to a small corner store and an alleyway. Despite its relative isolation there were always a couple loyal customers providing it business. But there was a new customer that appeared one day, once he had become of the national legal drinking age.
A youthful samurai of twenty years was sitting on a barstool, taking sips of sake every few seconds. Then suddenly something on the news piqued his interest.
"This just in the new resident Hero of City B, Black Sperm is holding a general martial arts tournament with a cash prize of three hundred million yen!"
The young samurai whistled. "A shame I'm a swordsman and not a martial artist. That prize money is no joke." He said to no one in particular.
"Actually, I'm pretty sure weapons are in the rules." The Bartender spoke up.
"Really?!"
As if to answer his surprise, the news continued talking about the competition.
"In order to accommodate fighting styles of all varieties, weapons of wooden or non-lethal are allowed with the exception of firearms. A decision that has been criticized as it's suggested hand to hand fighters may be outshined by their weapon wielding counterparts."
Right after the news anchor spoke those words Kamikaze leapt off his seat and ran towards the door.
…
Kamikaze observed the gigantic building in front of him, despite its size it seemed pretty plain looking, all black with no other outstanding features. Rather inconspicuous of a place to hold a fighting tournament, but it wasn't like the detail really mattered to him.
Entering the double doors and into the reception office he noted that the insides were exactly as extremely simplistic as the outside was, only this time everything and the furniture were pure white.
"Yo." A few feet away and below him was a small black creature with an antennae.
On instinct Kamikaze withdrew his sword and slashed at it, cutting it half. Only for the creature's two split halves to morph and regenerate its body mass to whole again.
"Hey hey!"
"Watch it!"
He dodged it!? No wait, the thing just multiplied!
On closer inspection it wasn't a monster, well it was one, but it appeared to be an apparent friendly one. Now that he looked at him closer, Kamikaze recognized him as the exact same rich Mysterious Being called Black Sperm he'd seen on the news.
Oh shit did he attack the owner?
Due to Kamikaze's pride he suppressed his gut reaction to apologize, sheathing his blade he played his action off as if it was seemingly not a problem.
"So you're the guy in charge of this joint huh?"
"Yeah, try not to slash any more of me will you? Leave that for later. This has been like the fifteenth time this has happened." He said the last part in an annoyed mumble.
"Fine by me." At least he knew he wasn't the only one who made that mistake. "Now where's the place to sign up?"
"Just up ahead past the doors, you might know this already from... firsthand experience, but I can split into more of me, all of the other me's you see around are also employees too. I'll personally guide you to the sign up area over there, then we can begin pretty soon here with the qualifying matches." Black Sperm pointed straight forward before walking that way, Kamikaze followed suit.
They entered another pair of doors and into another room, it seemed to house a small arena alongside quite a few spectators, familiar looking small black ones.
Where was his competition?
Looking at the small ring it seemed as if there was a single fight going on between another one of his competition and another Black Sperm.
"What's going on there?" Kamikaze questioned.
"In order to qualify for the actual tournament matches you and other candidates will do battle with a number of me, separate or combined. Depending on how many you can defeat through a ring knockout or just pure damage that will allow you to qualify."
Kamikaze took in the information. "There a certain amount I need to take out to qualify?"
"Just a thousand."
"That's quite a lot… and strong is a single one of you?"
"About... the strength of a kitten. So if you can manage the fight off that many then you'll be good."
Kamikaze chuckled. "Sounds like a walk in the park then. So when do we begin?" He spoke with confidence.
"When it's your turn you'll be notified and then given the option of fighting one on ones, or all at once. Most of the rules are the traditional martial arts ones, so all you need to win and qualify is a knockout.
I have some other me's keeping track of our numbers whenever we enter so it shouldn't take too long before we get you a sign up sheet, I have a few other qualifying ring matches going on so you might get put into a different ring here soon.
You also have the option of anonymity if you win. Although I'll still need a nickname or title." Black Sperm explained.
Kamikaze nodded. "Good to know."
Another Black Sperm ran over to them a minute later, then handed Kamikaze a sheet of paper on a clipboard and pen.
"Just sign there at the bottom, you should get a placed somewhere pretty soon."
After that explanation and signing Kamikaze went back to observing the current pre-match. Right now it seemed that one of his weaponless peers were facing off against a bunch of Black Sperm to qualify, and doing pretty well at that.
An older middle aged man with silver hair in a black martial arts robe was striking at multiple Black Sperms surrounding him at once. A blue aura could be seen from the mans strikes as it hit and knocked away each of the oncoming Black Sperms out of the arena.
"And that's it!" A different Black Sperm announced, sitting on top of a comically tall chair.
The older man nodded, before hopping off the stage with a grin. "I must say, I appreciate the opportunity to be able to let loose against an opponent like this."
Kamikaze recognized the older man, then he shouted to get his attention.
"Hey Bang!"
Bang turned his head and smiled. "Oh what a pleasant surprise! You here to test your mettle against your fellow practitioners of different fighting arts? Or perhaps you're after that prize? If its that last one you might have some trouble, I've been meaning to renovate my dojo a bit..."
"Really? Well I've been training since our last match intending to even the score between us."
"I would expect no less, someone as skilled with the sword as yourself shouldn't have too much trouble getting to the final round I hope."
They shared a laugh and handshake. Then Kamikaze inched his head to Bangs ear. "So what do you think of that Sperm guy? Think he's planning something?" Kamikaze whispered.
Bang had a thoughtful look. "I would be lying if I said I didn't, but so far he hasn't shown anything in the way of malicious intentions. He has made significant efforts to fight his own kind after all. I would observe how things proceed before doing anything rash, naturally."
Their small conversation was broken up by Black Sperm shouting to one of them. "Kamikaze, your up next in arena seven. Bang, the waiting room."
Kamikaze pulled away. "Well that's my cue. Good seeing ya."
"Always a pleasure." Bang nodded.
Back Sperm led Kamikaze away through a few rooms until they arrived at another similar looking room with a rectangular arena.
"So do you want to do one or all?"
"I'll take em all!" Kamikaze said with confidence.
"Sounds good. Step onto the ring and we'll start a minute later. And..." A different Black Sperm came over and handed a wooden sword to him.
As Kamikaze had signed off on his speciality, swordsmanship, so Black Sperm naturally supplied him with one to use.
"For safety purposes we'll only be using wood or bamboo for most melee weapons. I hope that isn't a problem."
"Fine with me." Kamikaze said before jumping into the ring.
A different Black Sperm from the other side of the room hopped on.
Kamikaze held his wooden katana and got into a mid stance position with it. He squinted his eyes, closely observed his rather unassuming looking opponent.
"Well... ? Where are the rest of you?"
Then a few seconds later Black Sperm began splitting, on to two, two to four, four to eight, eight to sixteen, sixteen to thirty two, and so on.
Kamikaze lost count as the small arena was filled up with Black Sperms.
"So this splitting is one of your abilities huh? Well since I know the limit here, guess that means I need at the very least to knock out all of you in one hit, making that a total of one thousand slashes... But I can do that in less then a second!" Kamikaze yelled as he rushed the crowd.
The swordsman leapt in the middle of them and then let out a rush of strikes all around him. As he promised Kamikaze's strike with the wooden sword cut past and through each of his surroundings opponents, slashing them to pieces
"And that's all!" The announcer Black Sperm shouted.
"Ha! Didn't even break a sweat, was this test really necessary?"
Black Sperm shrugged. "You'd be surprised at how fast normal people can get overwhelmed by numbers. It helps weed out the weak so they don't get hurt. The main event allows weapons, albeit weak ones, but still I'd rather professionals take the risk then squishy overconfident people... Okay! Now that we've got that out of the way, off to the waiting room." Black Sperm continued, again leading Kamikaze towards another door.
...
Some time passed as Black Sperm put a large number of candidates through the test, while putting all the qualifying fighters in a waiting room.
As he had planned things out before a month ago, getting the buildings set up and advertising it, the qualifying event would last a whole week, and today was the final day of it.
After a few more hours Black Sperm began consulting some of his other cells.
"Hey me, I think everything seems to be going very good so far. The thousand cell qualification has successful weeded out most if not all weak people wishes to qualify."
"Really? I could've swore there might be some B or A class material show up..."
"That's besides the point."
The original was satisfied with the results he had so far, after reviewing all the matches himself.
"Although... we only have a total of... sixteen contenders, so that might present a minor issue." He said.
"How many out of that pool can we recruit from?"
"The recognizable ones are Bang, Bomb, Kamikaze, Gouketsu, and... Suicho, plus eleven other guys. All of which are famous martial arts masters. Kamikaze seems to be the youngest here though."
"... That is awfully convenient. But also incredibly inconvenient. What are we supposed to do with that few people?"
"I have a plan, let's merge back so we're all up to speed." The original stated.
After getting his cell stock back up to normal levels Black Sperm laid out his plan internally.
Team S is the primary reason for this tournament. Goukestu and Kamikaze seemed the most compliant as far as I can see for actually recruiting. I can pretty much use sheer force to convince Gouketsu to join my group, kind of like how Orochi did it.
Kamikaze probably doesn't need anything more then something fame or fortune related probably, he joined the HA after all, so I'm just going on a hunch and assuming he's one of those types that likes the benefits or pay for doing something he already enjoys, and so bribery.
Unfortunately despite being incredibly skilled Suicho, Bang, and Bomb were only suitable as Tatsumaki tutors and nothing else, considering their age.
Black Sperm considered having Genus restore their youth. Three youthful martial artist masters would definitely be a powerhouse team. Although...
Mmm, none seem of them seem like the type to accept that sort of thing. Though I guess most wise or otherwise morally righteous old people wouldn't accept immortality considering the implications... and especially from a... Mysterious Being of all things. Damn, keep forgetting about that.
Maybe Goukestu and Kamikaze?
The rest of the martial artists were throwaway masters I don't care for because I don't know them from the manga or webcomic.
Well I barely knew Suicho much from the webcomic either, but he seemed pretty chill in our conversation, the others were either too weird or completely forgettable.
The tournament can proceed as normal, and I'll simply have the five guys I actually know who they are weed out the other onesby my personally made match ups.
Unknown variables and people aren't something I'm interested in dealing with here. Or no name side characters of dubious combat abilities.
So out of the big five, who did I think had the highest chance of winning?
Bang was the favorite for obvious reasons, Bomb second, then the other three were a mixed bag. I had no idea what Suicho's capabilities were relative to Suiryu, Gouketsu was defiantly strong but as of now in the timeline it was hard to say just how strong he was relative to when he fought Orochi.
Kamikaze... I had no clue. He was young, but slashed at me faster then I could see. Despite that I could've probably kicked his ass by throwing at him a few million more cells at him. But comparing him to me was unfair. Against those who had no techniques to counteract extra lives, shapeshifting, and duplication I was pretty much invincible.
Oh well. I guess I'll just setup the matches now. Wonder how my other self is doing with my other projects.
Back at his mansion, Black Sperm had ordered a group of his cells to plan more for the future and keep Tatsumaki occupied, but to bring her over some time later that day.
...
After a lot more deep contemplation on the Psykos situation, I decided the best way to deal with her would be a subtle hands on approach rather then leave her actions to fate.
Because who the hell in my shoes would let someone who founded the Monster Association and created a Dragon monster run free without supervision? Not me, I was at least 50% responsible.
So obviously with such responsibilities I needed to do something, and do it early in Psykos life to avert any organized monster problems.
Future sight induced insanity notwithstanding.
Regardless of any new life situation, I had to run with the possibility that she might end up on the same path of desiring human extinction due to discovery of future sight, third eye or whatever it was called. So I just needed to stop that, then I was set.
Thus I came up with a plan.
Through the use of my other projects and new product/rental service, called rent-a-sperm, literally anybody could just rent one of me to use as a pet, punching ba- sparring partner, or less then minimum wage maid/butler. Or to use me in most things which may require some form of physical activity.
I was thinking maybe roughly 100 Yen, or a relative low cost per month, with a price increase or decrease depending on how many initial cells are bought or if the customer feeds my other selves to get more cells, making it so they have to pay less fees.
Why did they call it Yen here anyway? You know what now that I think about it everything was pretty much pseudo Japanese in terms of naming, with some differences here and there. Obviously the term of Japan didn't exist here. I tried doing some research a bit ago on the lore of this place, well... I sent some cells off to do that for me. Wonder when they'll come back.
Off topic thoughts. Anyways through this ingenious method I would through sheer coincidence have Psykos family be one of the lucky ones to win a free sperm. Where I would then use said cell, or cells, to infiltrate Psykos' family keep tabs on their daughters esper powers and psychological development. And prevent any future sight from occurring, while leading Psykos to the path of heroism just like myself.
Now... how this will actually play out when I release the service is a whole different story. If her parents will even trust me, if anyone will trust me to be their personal servants, much less watch over their children.
Although, maybe I'm overthinking it. I seemed to have gotten away with a lot already due to the sheer fact that there was little to no Mysterious Beings around en masse yet.
There was also me stopping those two demons, I guess.
From a different point of view, of maybe someone from the future, it would look absolutely strange and horrific. A Mysterious Being with a unique and powerful ability to duplicate becomes a multi-billionaire with a company, then uses said company and ability to sell countless amounts of himself to the population as a manservant, thus allowing him to infiltrate the homes of millions and have the people want it.
So the pros and cons. Did I want to spy on everyone? Not particularly, people are weird and I don't really wanna see into billions of people personal lives...
But! It sure would help me find the future S Class faster, or candidates, or potential monsters. Also gave me an intelligence network to mess with, alongside another added layer of large scale protection where I can keep safe the populace easier.
As good of a justification as any, eh?
So then in order to make this plan work I need to restrict my overall presence a bit and slowly branch out my product exclusively in my home City B before expanding elsewhere to other cities.
Then I would also need to build up trust, probably with more monster hunting and community projects. Philanthropy maybe. Or a different name I might call it, bribery with a better name.
It was a good thing Psykos very conveniently lived in City B, for some reason. I guess City B was probably the closest place where the orphanage Blast sent Tats and Fubuki off to when he rescued them. And so for the continuity to make sense Tats and Fubuki probably had their high school years take place here.
Actually I knew of Psykos presence being here from absorbing a cell memory, though it was kinda blurry, so then I decided to review it again wanting to see more info and clarify that encounter. Since if I didn't manually 'check' certain unique memories they'd stay in a blurry state, probably as a way to avoid information overload. Repeated events naturally were absorbed faster.
So then... I had met her dad already during the my introductory appearance, and from physical seeing a child Psykos somehow I was able to recognize her very familiar blue hair, then confirm my suspicions when I asked her dad of her daughters name. He thanked me profusely in that moment, as the other civilians did.
Huh. That definitely simplifies things.
Naturally this wasn't enough information, so through the use of cells spying on her, I looked into Psykos current life situation. Seemed pretty normal if I was being honest, if a little different then most.
Hardworking parents that both have jobs which cause them to have to leave often, with babysitters hired to care for Psykos. So moderately wealthy, or just a preference to work over being a parent...
Oh... so... very... convenient... of... an... opportunity... to... pass... up.
I definitely know what my newest project addition was. A third esper daughter! Although her parents were still alive, not sure if that would be an issue.
...
I will not kill them. Despite that being tempting.
Nor will I arrange an accident to keep the Psykos all to myself.
...
Maybe I'll setup a Psykos and Fubuki playdate, or with Tatsumaki too. I think an esper triumvirate leading my organization would be cool.
Surely Psykos parents wouldn't mind my not*kidnapping of her, on the basis of both Psykos being offered my special tutelage on her powers. I'm sure I could also fudge an excuse like getting her esper training with the others too. Tatsumaki could probably convince them through showing off her powers a little, or a lot.
...
Eh... no need to over complicate it. Rent-a-sperm service, then I'll go from there. It was already a project anyway, so I might merge those ones together with seeing to Psykos development.
...
What else...
Was I forgetting something...?
Someone?
Uh...
Oh shit Tatsumaki! I gotta take her to the tournament today. Sometime today, probably now is good.
She was probably waiting, somewhere with other cells.
Yeah she wasn't bedridden anymore, on the account of a whole month having passed since we started. She was now actually put on a healthy training regiment, steadily building up body mass, and not physically writhing in pain everyday because I was forcing an incompatible and probably dangerous regiment.
She was maturing too, just turning eleven a few weeks ago, truly a monumental event, first birthday in a long while not in the lab. To make up for disappointing laboratory birthdays and to make it special I got her a huge cake, chocolate of course, with a bunch of my duplicates wearing party hats as party, and a present or two.
Oh... that day gave me some nice memories...
Tatsumaki cut herself on a katana I got her while playing with it in her room, and bled all over the floor. Which was something I seem to have not considered could happen when gifting her that.
Good thing I had Genus use science to bail me out.! With my own supply of o the spot vials of a regenerative and healing liquids. Wanting to be safe I requested that some time ago for little injuries like that, and maybe also perhaps preemptive preparation in case someone got mutilated in my tournament, that too.
Should bring a few over to the tournament too.
Tatsu of course was immediately better a minute later to both of our relief, after which I decided to teach her proper sword safety and the importance of not touching sharp objects with her soft delicate skin.
Miraculously I spurred her into creating one of her future abilities, using the sword cut as an example that she could potentially use her powers to cover her body like a defensive shield, and sort of second skin.
I had her test it by touching a less sharp object, a small plastic toy of Fubuki's with an edge, and of course she was perfectly fine after our minor tests.
Later in the day while most of my cells were cleaning Tatsumaki snuck in the fridge and ate all the rest of the cake, to make herself feel better after getting cut, but of course... she overate and that ended up causing her to throw up all over the floor.
Ah yeah... good times... except the cleanup, nasty. I didn't let her help, had a cell watch her for the rest of the day. She wasn't ordinarily that much of a troublemaker but I let it slide, it was a special day after all.
Also in order to preserve Tatsumaki's positive personality traits I'd need to give her a relatively carefree and awesome childhood.
All that mattered really was here was that Tatsumaki was happy, and physically healthy.
For a birthday passing by she didn't seem to change much visibly, or grow any taller. Actually I think earlier today she asked me something along the lines of if she would grow taller and more 'mature', this was asked due to an old memory of hers of having been short relative to her other female classmates.
...
Of course I stalled the question with a 'when you're older' excuse. I really didn't want to break it to Tatsumaki yet that she would stay short of most of her youth and adult life. Not sure how that conversation would end up, should tell her soon though.
...
After planning the martial arts tournament I decided making my own buildings would be better for business, and also paying people to build them. Future Sperm Army training camps mainly, but right now they were martial arts arenas.
Future stuff I guess.
So yeah, Tats to tournament.
Where is she?
Her room?
"Yo me." My sudden voice said aloud.
A few... something feet away.
Hm?
Ahh there she was, guided here by my other selves. Of course, how could I possibly forget about the amazing convenience of being everywhere at once. Silly me.
We merged back. Memories alerted me to us having filled in Tats on the reason we made the tournament.
Specifically to see people fight, and the recruitment of her future 'friends'. Hopefully they do become closer then the original S Class in this timeline.
"You ready?"
Tatsumaki nodded. "Yeah."
"Ready to see some martial arts?"
She smiled and nodded, striking a pose. "I'm ready!"
Very cute Tatsu. The cuteness was also multiplied by the Gi she was wearing that I got her.
Aside from the basic training I was currently working to poison Tatsumaki's mind with various media and entertainment things I liked in this world, as to shape her personality and interests to match closely to mine.
Tatsumaki must be cultivated to be perfect buddy.
Parenting wasn't particularly easy, and so like many parents of my own world I let some media do it for me. I mean that worked out for me in my own life I think... at least I wasn't a NEET, so I made the bare minimum requirements for being a productive member of society.
Not sure if my consciousness displacing into an overpowered character could be considered successful or not. But most rich people inherited their wealth so that point was pretty much pointless.
But honestly, some of the media I was having Tats consume daily was strategic. Kids pretty much downloaded personalities from the things they experienced from what I remember, and so I made sure to supply Tats with such media to get her to up to my level in gaming and pop culture understanding.
Some comics, little bit of manga... movies, video games, and especially RPG's.
RPG's so she understood the importance of 'leveling up' and increasing her skillset. Also thought it might be cool for Tatsumaki to consider the S Class, or Team S, as party members of hers and thus increase the efficiency of a team.
All according to my plan?
Martial arts were the newest trend I got her into, and so that led to what was happening now. Showing her the arts in real life, to help motivate her to train with Bang later. Which would happen pretty soon here, since I wanted Tats to grow up learning using a psychic based martial arts, or a hybrid of Bang's style.
Despite being a girl Tatsumaki of course had plenty potential to be interested in more boyish activities. Being a child and all. No forced gender roles here! Not when I potentially needed her to fight Boros in my stead.
She was also positively receptive at my selective supplying of stuff, since of course she didn't have before.
...
Off we went and into a rented limo, driven by some guy. Not me though, since I wasn't tall enough, and also neglected to get a new license in this world. Driving didn't matter if you had money to pay people to do it. So all was fine.
Sitting with Tats, both of us buckled up, and both being driven the combat buildings.
