Chapter 1
(AN: This story is relatively new, so I'll be making edits and changes as time goes on.)
It was a bright and early day at U.A. High, with Class 1-A having settled into new life at the school. They'd spent many days training, learning, and performing to the best of their abilities, especially since All Might became a faculty member of U.A.
1-A's homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa, was making an announcement. "We have two things going on today. We'll be having a new student joining our class," he said, looking through a clipboard in his hands.
"A new student?" Sero asked. "Wow, didn't expect that."
"This early in the school year?" Ashido asked.
"An American transfer student, accepted through recommendations at his old high school. Meet Oliver Rowe," Aizawa said through his bandaged face. He looked to the door and waved. "Come on in."
The door opened, and a student walked in, wearing the male U.A. uniform. He was somewhat short and had medium long curly black hair and green eyes. He had a petite body type, as well as a sort of slouched posture. He had a large backpack, larger than some of the other students.
"Looks kinda like a girl," Mineta said, before getting a glare from Tokoyami next to him.
"Yeah...I get that," Oliver muttered. He was pretty quiet, his soft voice struggling to be heard even in a quiet environment.
"Oliver, meet Class 1-A," Aizawa said. The whole class (minus Bakugo) shouted or spoke their greetings to the new student, who only blushed at the attention. "You'll be seated in Mineta's seat. Mineta, you'll be transferred out of the class."
Nearly the entire class cried out in shock (the girls in delight) before Aizawa chuckled. "Just kidding. You'll be seated between Sato and Todoroki," he said.
The girls all moaned in despair as Mineta breathed a sigh of relief. "Why couldn't that be a logical ruse?" Ashido wailed.
"Our teacher is sick..." Jiro groaned, as Uraraka, Sato, Todoroki, and Yaoyorozu moved their desks to make room for Oliver's desk, which he shuffled in between the two toned boy and the muscular student, awkwardly looking down.
"That concludes introductions. Now onto our next part. Today's training will be a little different. You'll have three instructors: me, All Might, and another faculty member will be keeping tabs on you," Aizawa explained.
"Uhh, what kinda training is this?" Sero asked, raising his hand.
"Rescue training," Aizawa said, holding out a card labeled "Rescue" in blue. "You'll be learning how to handle shipwrecks, natural disasters, stuff like that.
The class exploded into excited chatter and nervous muttering. "Uhh, is the class usually like this?" Oliver asked.
"More or less," Todoroki said.
"Yes," Yaoyorozu sighed, still somewhat upset about not being elected Class Representative earlier. Though Oliver wouldn't know this due to how new he was.
"I wasn't finished yet," Aizawa said sternly, the class falling into silence immediately. "What you wear in this exercise is up to you. I know you're excited about costumes, but keep in mind that you're not used to them yet, so they might limit your abilities."
He pressed a remote in his hands, and several shelves opened up out of the wall, each labeled a number for a student's seating position in the class. "The training will be taking place at an offsite facility so we'll be taking a bus to get there. That's all. Start getting ready," the teacher said before heading out of the room.
"Rowe, you brought your costume, right?" Kirishima asked, looking at the new student.
"Yeah, I brought it with me," Oliver said. "And just call me Oliver."
Minutes later, the whole class was waiting for the bus, idling outside the main building. Oliver was wearing his hero costume, which was fairly unique and somewhat American.
He wore a green camouflage jumpsuit, a belt, and armored pieces on his body, mainly the chest, back, collar, shoulder, arms, and knees. He wore black steel toed boots and black gloves. He wore a pair of yellow protective goggles and a black scarf mask, which was currently only around his neck.
"Wow, you look kickass!" Kaminari said.
"You look more like a soldier than a hero," Jiro voiced her opinion.
"The armor looks nice," Ojiro commented.
Oliver was sweating and scratching the back of his head nervously. "Well...I did get some help designing it, plus my quirk isn't useful in offense or defense, so I have the armor and martial arts to help with that," he said.
"Martial arts?" Ojiro asked. "Sounds great. I rely on that too, since my quirk is pretty limited to a tail." His tail flexed instinctively as he said this.
Then there was the ear piercing sound of a whistle. "Gather round, Class 1-A!" Iida, if Oliver recalled, shouted. "Using your student numbers, form two neat lines so we can load the bus efficiently!"
On the rowdy bus heading to their destination, some of the students were talking about their quirks. Mainly Midoriya's destructive quirk, and Kirishima's hardening, as well as a few loud arguments involving Bakugo.
"What's your quirk exactly?" Yaoyorozu asked in the bus, her and Uraraka sitting in the aisle across from Oliver.
"M-my quirk is Transition. I can switch the positions of two objects or people. Myself included. I just need to know what and where those two objects or people are," Oliver said. "C-can I demonstrate?"
"No, you can demonstrate your quirk at training," Aizawa said from the front of the bus.
"Huh, so you could potentially lead rescue operations, just transporting people in and out of danger. Well, preferably out of danger," Yaoyorozu said before scoffing, unable to think thanks to the shouting near the front of the bus. "That is such a disgusting conversation."
"Yeah, but it's pretty fun listening to them fight..." Uraraka said, still cheerful.
Oliver gulped. "They're scary..." he said nervously, keeping his eyes forward to avoid oogling Yaoyorozu's exposed hero costume and seeming like a creep.
"Chill out," Jiro said, looking at Oliver. "Don't worry about them, they're just a bunch of hormonal boys, they pretty much talk out of their ass. Still, we get along pretty well."
"Yeah, I'm sure we'll be great friends!" Uraraka cheered before Aizawa spoke up.
"Hey hey, we're here. Stop messing around. Why don't you all be like our new transfer? Quiet and knowing when to keep his mouth shut," Aizawa ordered.
Oliver looked up to see most of the class in the bus looking at him intently, expecting a response. So the boy did the only thing he knew to do in this situation.
Which was blush bright red and bury his hands in his face as he huddled up in his seat, a nervous squeal being heard from him.
"He's so shy that it's cute!" Ashido and Hagakure internally squealed.
"It appears he's about as introverted as Koda is," Tokoyami said, Koda looking nervously at the bird headed student. "Perhaps we should give him some time."
"Y-yeah," Uraraka said, feeling a bit guilty now. "Don't worry about anything, OK?"
"Yes, let's all go back to doing what we normally do," Yaoyurozu suggested. "Apologies, Rowe."
"J-just call me Oliver," Oliver whispered before the bus came to a halt, jerking slightly from the near sudden stop.
As they exited the bus, the entire class was greeted by someone they all recognized. "Hello everyone, I've been waiting for you!" a female voice said. "Can't wait to show you what's inside!"
Thirteen, the Rescue Hero, stood in front of their destination, which was an absolutely massive dome structure. Most of the entire class looked excited as she led them into the building, which was mostly full of what appeared to be several environments.
"Wow, this looks like some sort of amusement park!" Kirishima commented.
"L-looks intense," Midoriya said, Oliver looking around in silent awe.
"Super cool!" Uraraka cheered.
"Yep! A shipwreck, a landslide, a fire, a windstorm, etcetera!" Thirteen said. "I created this training facility to prepare you to deal with different disasters! I call it the Unforeseen Simulation Joint. But you can call it U.S.J."
Aizawa frowned as Thirteen finished her explanation, and quickly walked over to talk with her in a hushed tone. Afterwards, he looked at the class. "Well, we should be OK with just the two of us. Clock's ticking, we should get started," he said.
"Excellent! Before we get started, let me say one thing. Well, two things. Possibly three...four or five...maybe six..." Thirteen said, as the entire class seemingly drooped in exasperation. "We get it!" they muttered, minus Oliver and Todoroki, Todoroki being silent and Oliver being too nervous.
"Listen up! As you're aware, my quirk is Black Hole! I can suck anything up and turn it into dust!" Thirteen explained.
"Yeah! You used Black Hole to save people from all sorts of disasters, haven't you?" Midoriya said, as Oliver turned to see that he was wearing U.A.'s PE uniform instead of a hero costume. Maybe it was damaged, or he didn't have one?
"That's true. But my power could easily be used to kill," Thirteen said. "Some of you also have powers that are dangerous. In our superhuman society, all quirks are certified stringently regulated, so we often overlook just how unsafe they can be. Please don't forget that if you lose focus or make the wrong move, your powers can be deadly."
Oliver looked down, slowly getting distracted from her words as he looked down at his hands. "I get that..." he mumbled to himself. "I've hurt people with my quirk before..."
"That's all I have to say!" Thirteen said, snapping Oliver back out of his thoughts. "Thank you for listening!"
"Right. Now that's over, we can proceed with-"Aizawa said before getting interrupted by the blinking of lights above. Oliver, as well as everyone else, looked around to see what was going on, before Aizawa spoke up.
"Stay together and don't move! Thirteen, protect the students!" Aizawa ordered as he pulled on his yellow barred goggles from under that large scarf of his.
Oliver peered over Sato's giant shoulder to see what was going on. All he could see was a hue of purple and several people exiting it. "What the-"
"Stay back! This is real. Those are villains." Aizawa said, as everyone in the class froze out of shock and fear, before erupting into mutters and chatters, mostly to themselves or each other. Oliver looked to Kyoka, who looked just as nervous as the others.
"I-I'm guessing this isn't an everyday occurrence in U.A.?" Oliver asked.
"Of course not, it's only been a few days!" Jiro said.
"Yeah, it's only my first day here..." Oliver whispered, his arms shaking. "I'm scared..."
"Same..." Jiro said, before a rush of air hit the class. Aizawa had leapt into battle, rushing down the stairs to the main grounds, rushing straight for the horde of villains. Before anyone could comment, three villains were immediately incapacitated, and he began to start taking out more, moving more quickly and efficiently than any of the class had seen.
"Now, let's go!" Thirteen yelled, and the class began to rush for the entrance.
"What the hell, we're leaving him?!" Kirishima cried.
"We can't do much against villains, so it's important we maintain the class's safety!" Yaoyorozu explained.
They were immediately cut off when that purple hue from earlier suddenly appeared before the class, cutting them off from the entrance, a large blob of black and purple mist acting as a wall. "There is no escape," a voice boomed. Two yellow slits out of the mist appeared, and the class instinctively backed away.
"It's a pleasure to meet you. We are the League of Villains. I know it's impolite, but we decided to invite ourselves into this haven of justice to say hello...besides, isn't this a fitting place for All Might, the symbol of peace, to take his last breath?" the black mist said.
Oliver gulped, and Midoriya gasped. "They're after All Might?" they thought.
"I believe he was supposed to be here, yet I see no sign of him. Perhaps there was a change of plan we could not have foreseen..." the mist continued. "Ah...in the end, I suppose it doesn't matter. I still have a role to play..."
The mist expanded and began to surround the class. Kirishima and Bakugo tried to attack it, but it was no use. They couldn't even disperse it, and it instead continued to spread.
"What the-" Jiro cried before she vanished.
"What is this?!" Kirishima yelled before he and Bakugo disappeared. Oliver attempted to try and escape the mist, but he was suddenly pulled through by an invisible force, before suddenly falling from a great height.
Almost at once, he landed face first into the ground, his face striking rock. "Ow!" he yelped before rolling to his back, seeing the roof of the U.S.J. above.
"Oliver! Are you alright?" Yaoyorozu's voice called. He got up and quickly looked around to see rock, rock, and more rock. It looked like they were atop a large mountain with carved out flat grounds.
Next to him were Yaoyorozu, Jiro, Kaminari...and dozens of bloodthirsty villains surrounding them. "Come on, get up!" Kaminari said as he backed up. "We're in a bit of a bind right now!"
Oliver gulped, before forcing down his fear and standing, pulling on his scarf mask and goggles. "Well...this will be my first big fight..." he said.
"Same goes for us," Yaoyorozu said, having pulled a staff out of her skin. "You ready?"
Oliver didn't respond to the girl's question, as the first villain attacked before he could even think on what to say. As he blocked the villain's attack, he could only think about how the battle had started, and it would mean actual life or death. And to say he was scared was a mere understatement.
