If Only I could have spent a little more time with you.
I do not own Naruto.
''Father.'' Sasuke greets.
Sasuke couldn't remember his mother that well anymore but he could remember his father even less. Now that Sasuke thinks back on it he and his father never spend much time with each other. His father was always busy with work or Itachi. He thought his father didn't care about him even if his mother told him he did. He does think he is better at reading expressions now. But he can never be sure, Itachi is a prime example of that.
His father looks...confused... maybe even worried. But he tries to hide it under his normal stern expression. He spots Sasuke and walks towards him. His mother leaves to the living room, probably to give them space. But if she didn't get Sasuke to talk why should his father be able to? Or maybe Sasuke would talk, when he was younger he did try anything to get his father's attention. Now he isn't sure anymore. He doesn't think he only wants his father's attention, he wants his love. That no matter what Sasuke does, his father still loves him. Like Itachi does, like Naruto and Sakura do.
I miss them.
''Sasuke.'' His father begins and Sasuke gets snapped out of his thoughts yet again. Why does this keep happening? He is a shinobi! Or is his lack of concentration span also some sort of consequence of being in his younger body?
''Your mother told me you awakened your Sharigan?'' His father continues.
Sasuke nods. Was he always this quiet as a child before the massacre? He doesn't think so.
''Is that why you are early?'' Sasuke asks. His father never came home early from work. Not that Sasuke can remember.
''Can you show me?'' His father asks of him and Sasuke complies. Though he still cannot activate it for long so after a few seconds it fades again.
He looks at his father's face. Whatever he expected he does not get and he gets an uncomfortable feeling in his chest. He expected pride maybe? Some sign of happiness that another son of his got the sharigan early? He hoped for the same expression on his mother's face. She looked shocked and sad. Sad for him. It showed she cared.
It seemed that whatever sign of worry Sasuke thinks he saw it is gone now.
''We can begin training now.''
That's it?
When he was younger he would be excited to train with his father. It was all he ever wanted. But now he already has a decade of training. There is nothing for his father to teach him he does not already know. He would probably learn everything very fast. He might be dubbed another genius. He has done so much fighting in his life. He doesn't really feel like it anymore.
''How did you get it?'' His father inquires. Sasuke looks away. After a while his father sighs.
''I am not your mother Sasuke. I will let it go for now but you will tell me another time.''
Sasuke turns back to his empty bowls. Maybe his mother will give him some more tomatoes if he asks nicely?
''Training will start tomorrow after breakfast.'' With that his father leaves.
Sasuke watches his father's back and thinks about the time he was so happy his father trained him for the first time. He takes a deep breath. Then that image changes and his father's corpse blank eyes stare at him with a pool of blood beneath it.
Maye he won't ask for more tomatoes. He isn't that hungry anymore.
Author's note
A very long chapter because of the cliffhanger of last chapter. I didn't want to split the chapter yet again.
His father does care but doesn't know how to show it! That is my interpretation of him. I get so many ideas this way this fanfic will take years...
Also Sasuke didn't cry this time because he cried a lot before and he was better prepaired this time. He is also right now trying to surpress his feelings a little bit so they won't find his behaviour to weird.
I am getting busy with school but I will at least update every week.
