AN: Lemons have been removed due to complaints.
Kaname looked around the ballroom, bored and looking for something to catch his eye. It wasn't that there wasn't anything to catch his eye, the ballroom had been immaculately decorated. The walls were pure white with three dimensional golden details of flora and fauna, the high ceiling matched but also had small painted murals above each double door. The dark wooden floor had been polished until it shined, reflecting the light from the crystal candle lit chandeliers. Each double door on the right side of the ballroom led out to its own stone rail balcony. But the ballroom wasn't what Kaname wanted to observe. He was looking for a woman he could possibly have as his own. He wanted someone beautiful and, in some way, different from the many women who flocked to be at his side. As much as he liked the female attention, it was boring and somewhat stale to him now. He wanted her now, he wanted to find her here. He sighed to himself, he didn't really want to marry his little sister if he could help it. She was just too naïve and innocent to be his bride. He couldn't bring himself to destroy a delicate flower like her. She could still prove herself as a vampire but he doubted that her role in this life would be nothing more than to be a trophy and a mother. Besides, he really did see her and love her like a sibling. He would try hard not to follow their own parents' footsteps.
Fed up of his quest to find a woman, only after scanning the crowd, he decided to find his uncle and ruin his chances of getting laid that evening. He enjoyed upsetting Rido as much as possible. The two men had never liked each other, it was Rido's fault anyway. Who in their right mind awaken another vampire to kill them for power without being powerful enough to kill them? Kaname shook his head as he thought to himself. He truly believed Rido to be a moron. He ran his fingers through his hair and proceeded to look for his uncle.
It wasn't long before he found Rido out on one of the balconies coming off the ballroom. As Kaname approached him, he saw that Rido was locked in a convocation with a deep smoked paprika red-haired woman, who had perched herself on top of the old stone rail of the balcony. She was sat with her left leg crossed over her right, which led her wine-red dress to reveal her left leg almost completely up to the top of her thigh. She was leaning ever so slightly forwards as she spoke to Rido, most likely giving the older man a nice view of her cleavage. Kaname took in her image, a deep wine-red velvet dress with a high slit on the left side. The neckline was only just showing the top of her cleavage when she sat up straight. Her back was exposed, lose material gathered at her lower back. Kaname noticed her tendency to pull at the long sleeves of her dress to ensure that only her slender fingers showed. Her feet were adorned with a simple pair of black heels which had a thin strap around her ankle, Kaname made a guess that without the strap, her heels would likely fall off as she gently rocked her legs back and forth. He wondered if Rido helped her get up onto the rail given the amount of distance between her feet and the floor. Her long straight hair had been pulled over her left shoulder, obscuring his view of her face, but he would soon see what was keeping Rido's attention on her.
"What pleasure do I owe to have my nephew come see me?" Rido spoke up as soon as he saw Kaname stepping towards them through the balcony doors. Kaname didn't fail to notice the sarcasm dripping from his voice. The woman straightened her back and flipped her hair behind her shoulder, giving Kaname a full view of her. He liked what he saw, especially her bright apple green eyes which were framed by thin black winged eyeliner. White and silver glitter shimmered as the light hit her eyelids. Her lips were painted blood red, standing out against her pale skin. He watched as she placed her hands down on the rail, seeming to ready herself to jump from her perch to greet him.
"Can't a nephew come check up on his uncle?" Kaname bit back before turning his attention to the beautiful woman before him. "You don't have to move on my account." He told her with a smile, trying to sound charming. The woman raised an eyebrow at him but didn't speak. It surprised him a little, not that he would let it show, normally women would blush and smile when he ignored royal protocol for them. He looked over at Rido who seemed to be smirking a little too much.
"You don't normally check up on me at these events, you're always seeming to be dancing with some beautiful creature in your arms. Why don't you do that instead of bothering your dear old uncle?" Rido suggested before taking a slip of his red wine. He eyed Kaname with caution, he wondered what had brought Kaname to bother him. Since Juri and Haruka had taken Kaname in, Rido had made a point of avoiding them and they the same.
"Well, I thought that I should stop you from harassing beautiful woman, you only ever charm them into bed and then discard them. It has to stop uncle, I'm not about to let this enchanting lady become another one of your victims." Kaname almost spat back. He was sure that she would soon run into his arms after saying that. He would save her from his dirty uncle and she would follow him instead. But he got it wrong. She scoffed at him and graceful jumped down from the rail before walking past him like he didn't exist. Kaname watched her walk away, not missing the sway if her hips or the fact that she muttered the word vulgar at him.
"You have a lot to learn." Rido laughed at Kaname before striding off after her. Kaname frowned, he had never been treated in such a way by a woman before. It confused him to no end, he often took many of Rido's female followers without any trouble, his status, money and power always spoke volumes compared to Rido's.
"Rido has known her for years." A voice spoke up behind Kaname. He looked over his shoulder to see Haruka. "He has never been able to charm her, don't expect her to fall for you either. She has only had short romances; she's never taken any relationship further than a roll in the hay." He added, a warning of sorts to the ancestor that had become his son.
"What's her name?" Kaname asked, he was like a child who had been told no. If he was told that he couldn't have something, he would do everything to get it. Haruka sighed to himself, he knew Kaname would try as hard as he could, maybe even become reckless. He would never take no for an answer, even from the woman he was pursuing. He never went as far as forcing woman into a relationship or into bed, but he would scare away other men and essentially stalking them. He felt sorry for Kaname in a way, he doubted the women would fall for Kaname, not willingly anyway.
"Akari." Kaname nodded before walking off to find her. "Red Cold." Haruka stated the meaning of her name. He hoped Kaname would hear him and understand the warning within her name.
Kaname searched for her, but the only person he found was Rido.
"Where did your lady friend go?" Kaname asked as he took note of the brown floor length fur coat that was folded somewhat neatly over Rido's arm. He wasn't fond of killing animals just for its fur but he couldn't tell if the coat was real or fake fur. Rido smirked, now he knew what Kaname wanted.
"Saying her farewells to her friends." Rido told him as he brushed some invisible dirt off the coat.
"You're both leaving so soon?" Kaname questioned, he didn't particularly want her to leave with Rido. Just because Rido hadn't charmed her before, it didn't mean he hadn't managed to now.
Akari appeared, walking towards Rido. She ignored Kaname and allowed Rido to help her with her coat.
"Akari is leaving, I will be staying a little longer." Rido told him as he gently pulled her red hair free of the coat. Kaname felt relief run over him. "Your car is waiting for you." He added as he turned his attention to Akari. She smiled and kissed his cheek.
"Don't be a stranger Rido." She told him as Rido kissed the back of her hand. "It was nice to meet you, your majesty." She added, bowing her head to Kaname before walking away. Kaname just stared at her back as she left. He had never been treated in such before by a woman. She was the woman he wanted; she was the change he needed.
