They talked through the whole lunch break and after school as long as they could until Sakura was taken home by her parents. Naruto then went home too. He told them he would try to contact the other tailed beasts and other Jinchūriki's with Kurama's help. Maybe they remembered the future too and could help them in some way. Sasuke went home last.
His father was not happy that he was late. Sasuke apologized even if he didn't mean it. He should try to be on his father's good side. He suspected that the meeting with the elders his father mentioned a few days ago might have been one of the meetings about the coup. He needs to look out for all the information he can get his hands on. His father and he then began their training which lasted until dinner. His father was more strict then usually. Probably because Sasuke was late.
At dinner his mother asked how his first day at the academy was.
''It was fine.'' Sasuke responded. His mother frowned and Itachi and his father looked at him in silence. They seemed to do that a lot.
''Did you make any friends?'' His mother tries to keep the conversation going. Sasuke gives her a small genuine smile as he answers. ''I did, two.''
His mother seemed relieved and smiles. ''That is great, who are they?''
''Are they clan kids?'' It sounded like a demand the way his father asked. His mother frowned again but this time at his father. Sasuke thinks about telling them about Naruto...but he doesn't know what they will say. Will his mother be worried about his safety because Naruto is a Jinchūriki? Will his father think him associating with Naruto will make the doomed reputation of their clan even worse or will he immediately try to use Naruto as a weapon in the political battle? Will they accept Sakura as his friend even if she is civilian born?
He will have to figure out how to introduce them. Maybe he should tell his mother after he has spent some time with them so that his mother will see nothing bad happened to him while being with Naruto.
''I will tell you later.'' He says. ''I don't want you to scare them off.''
His father looks like he wants to protest but his mother glares at him. She seems to be doing that a lot lately but Sasuke is sure she didn't do that before. It could have slipped his notice but still...
In silence they eat their food since the air has turned uncomfortable. As Sasuke finishes his food he says he is going to make his homework.
''Maybe Itachi can help?'' His mother proposes. She must have notices how he avoids Itachi. She must have found it weird. But Sasuke still hasn't decided what to do with Itachi and maybe a part of him is petty and wants Itachi to feel how it felt when Itachi ignored him. So that Itachi will understand that it hurt.
He shakes his head and makes his way towards his room.
