Kaname made his way to the headmasters' office, he was trying to figure out how Rido had gotten those roses into her room. There was no way that anyone could deliver anything to the dormitory without him knowing or finding out. He couldn't help but wonder if someone was helping him. He knew he could already rule out Senri and Takuma as they had informed him of what was going on. He also completely trusted Serien, he had no worries with her. Which only left Rima, Ruka, Akatsuki and Hanbuasa as possible traitors. Each one of them had already shown loyalty in some way except Rima. Ruka had obeyed him to the point of getting on her knees for him. He would never admit to Akari that he had actually requested Ruka to please him, he knew she would have done it without question. He knew how much she was in love with him. Akatsuki kept Hanbuasa in line while Hanbuasa followed him like a stalker, obeying his every word. Rima however, she had yet to show loyalty above being in the dormitory and she was allowed to leave the school for her modelling like Senri was but even he rarely left now. It pleased Kaname to see Senri stepping up to his task even if it was because he liked Akari.

He pulled himself from his thoughts as he arrived at the large doors of Cross's office and knocked loudly. He waited to be called in before entering. Cross gave Kaname a kind smile before gesturing to the empty chair in front of his desk. Kaname sat down and looked at Cross with concern.

"Has something happened again Lord Kaname?" Cross now asked, concerned himself. He wondered if this experiment was now putting his human students in harm's way.

"No, nothing like that." Kaname told him. "Rido has been able to sneak into the school grounds. For the moment, he has only entered Akari's room, as far as I know." He then added with a sigh. Cross frowned for a moment before confusion took over his face.

"But how? No one in your class has sensed him?" Cross questioned him; he was concerned for his human students but he knew Rido was most likely fixated on Kaname rather than stopping by for a meal.

"I have no idea how he's been doing it. For the last four nights, he has been able to sneak into Akari's room to place roses and a card. No one sees him, hears him or even senses him. It's like he's a ghost. I know he has to be close by, he's mentioned things in the cards that suggest he is watching us or he has a spy within the school." Kaname explained as he gave Cross all the information.

"You suspect a spy? May I ask who we should watching?" Cross asked after a short silence.

"I've narrowed it down to Akatsuki, Hanbuasa, Ruka or Rima. I have a strong suspicion about Rima. But then again, the information could have been innocently given out in a letter home that Rido intercepted." Kaname reasoned, he wasn't ready to point fingers at anyone until he had all the facts. Cross nodded in response, seemingly thinking.

"What do you think Rido is planning? I know you and Akari are close, could he be targeting her to get to you? It would be his only way to you seeing as no one knows about Yuki." Cross stated and Kaname shook his head. Rido wouldn't use her, he respected her too much. He was sure that Rido loved her, loved her enough to allow her to be free rather than trying to push her into a relationship. Kaname frowned slightly, he realised he had been the one to push her into their relationship and to this school. He sighed to himself while Cross watched him closely, wondering what was going through his mind.

"Rido and Akari share a past. She has known him for about fifty years, Rido has tried to pursue her but when she didn't fall for his charm, he stopped. They became friends and both developed feelings for each other but refused to change their friendship. They chose to be friends and safe rather than risk it and become lovers." Kaname explained. "My guess is that Rido's brush with death has made him realise they may not have all the time in the world. That they need to take the risk and be together." He then added with a deep sigh. "But I changed things. If she had stayed at her home then I'm sure she would have housed him and they would take the next step."

"But you convinced her to come to the school." Cross spoke up and Kaname nodded.

"And we have started a relationship, while being here, she has realised that she fell in love with the wrong Kuran." Kaname added to Cross's statement. Cross frowned slightly but chose not to comment on it. "I think Rido now feels threatened by me taking Akari and is working towards taking her."

"Maybe she would be safer being hidden away if you believe she in danger?" Cross suggested, leaning his elbows on his desk and pulling the blanket tighter across his shoulders.

"Rido wouldn't harm her. She is safe from him in that sense, but I will ask that Zero and Yuki keep a closer eye on the dormitory when we are in class. For the moment, Rido is only sneaking around, if he does something bold then I will move Akari." Kaname told him, he would protect Akari with his life. He needed to talk to her, he shouldn't have pushed her into this. He loved her but he needed to respect her like Rido did. It was probably why she was distant and didn't tell him about Rido's messages. "I will let you know if anything else happens." Kaname stood up.

"What about Yuki?" Cross asked before Kaname could make it to the door. Kaname simply looked over his shoulder.

"Let her live as she is. She should be free from our curse, she's too innocent for that. I want her to fall in love with someone, not marry me out of duty." Kaname told him. Cross gave him a small smile.

"If you think that's best."

"I know it's best." Kaname told him, a small hint of annoyance

"Will you tell Akari about her?" Cross then asked curiously, ignoring Kanames' tone.

"Soon, but I think she already knows. I've noticed her studying Yuki closely. I don't need to worry about her knowing." Kaname told him before leaving, he didn't want Cross poking his nose in any further.

The next evening, Kaname asked Akari to see him in his office while everyone else went to class. Senri wasn't overly pleased with being sent to class. Akari was curious as to what Kaname could possibly want.

She knocked on his office door and entered once he called her in. Kaname gestured for her to take the seat in front on his desk. She frowned slightly and sat down.

"I need to tell you something important, something that no one else can know." Kaname told her, looking at her with all seriousness.

"What is it?" She asked, suddenly feeling like Rido may have been caught out as Senri and Kaname wanted to keep it quiet.

"Do you remember the female guardian?" He asked her, she nodded. She wondered where this was going. "She is my sister, Yuki. Our mother found a way to change her into a human." He told her. Akari didn't know how to react. She just stared at him. Kaname watched her closely, he could clearly see was in shock. She was also glad she now knew; this would be excellent news for Rido.

"What does that mean for us? Am I just something to past the time?" Akari suddenly asked. It had just clicked that Kaname and Yuki were meant to marry once they were both of age. It was some sort of tradition for their family. Right now, Kaname was making Rido look like an angel. She couldn't understand how everyone one sees Kaname as the angel and Rido as the devil. It irritated her to no end.

"No, of course not. I know that technically I was engaged to Yuki but things have changed." Kaname was quick to reassure her. "I never wanted to marry Yuki." He knew how this would look to her. "I want Yuki to continue her life as a human and to find her own love as we have found ours." He told her and simply looked away from him. Kaname sighed and got up. He didn't want her feeling like she was second to Yuki. "Akari, my engagement to Yuki was our parents doing. It wasn't something I wanted. I wanted to find love and marry who I love." He told her as he reached her, kneeling in front of her.

"Promise?" Akari asked, eyeing him with suspicion.

"I promise." He said as he took her hands in his and kissed them. Akari gave him a small smile.

"Now, let's spend some time together. We haven't been able to be alone for a while." He then told her, gently pulling her up onto her feet. She looked at her warily. Kaname took a deep breath and looked into her eyes. "I know I've been very pushy. I never intended to push you into things you weren't ready for. My behaviour towards you has been questionable and I would like to make it up to you. I want to show how a truly love you if you will give me a chance?" Akari nodded a little, she wasn't sure how she was meant to respond to him. She wasn't sure what he meant by making up to her.
