Akari sighed as she rested against the closed door to her bedroom. She wasn't sure how much longer she could survive with Kaname. A light knocked against the door brought her out of her thoughts. She opened the door and smiled; it was Senri.
Senri couldn't stand being in that classroom without Akari, Hannbusa teased him the whole time about how he couldn't function without his mistress. It took all of his willpower not to kill the boy. He also managed to walk calmly back to the dormitory instead of running. He wanted to check on Akari the whole time. He wanted to know she was safe, he didn't trust Kaname. He gently knocked on her door, he wasn't sure how she would be when he got to her. Her creepy smirk made him realise he needn't have worry about her.
Akari moved aside for him and closed the door behind him.
"Someone is pleased with herself." Senri noted as he sat down on her bed. She nodded enthusiastically.
"I have some amazing news." She almost squealed. "I know where Yuki is." She added before Senri could ask what it was. Senri smirked and pulled her to him, kissing her. Akari wrapped her arms around his neck as she lifted herself onto his lap. "She's been here all along." She told him, earning a puzzled but also curious look. "That female guardian, she's Yuki." She added in excitement.
"But she's human?" Rido was truly puzzled now. He of course knew that as purebloods they could turn humans into full vampires rather than have them as Level-E's. But he had never heard of a purebloods turning into a human. Akari nodded.
"Kaname told me that Juri had found a way to turn her into a human. Kaname took her to Cross and he took her in as his own. He did lead me to believe that somehow Yuki doesn't remember her life as a pureblood. He said he wanted her to live in peace as a human." She explained to him. Rido chucked, amused by Kaname's nativity. Only someone like Kaname could never realise that humans could be just as cruel as vampires.
"She will be easy to kill but maybe not so easy to get to." Rido stated. "I think that now is the time we plan your escape from Kaname. Weaken him with distraction before taking out Yuki. He will be much easier to kill once he's had his heart broken and then destroyed by the death of his little sister." He added, Akari nodded in agreement, a smile lit up her face, signaling her delight to be leaving Kaname.
"How should we do this?" She asked curious. She didn't know if Rido planned for a fight or to act covertly.
"He thinks your parents are traveling, correct?" He asked her, making sure he was right. She nodded. "Then I will send a letter from your home, stating that you must come home at once. I say something along the lines of that I'm disappointed at your abandonment of your home. That I am disgusted that Kaname had failed to contact us about his plans to move you to the school. It will be a strongly worded letter." He then went onto explain.
"What about the real Senri?" She asked concerned. "If you leave his body, couldn't he awaken and tell Kaname everything?" She added.
"I will pretend his mother has had another breakdown and he has to return home for a few days to take care of things. That way, he will be away from here while I am. No one will know you have anything to do with this. I promise." He reassured her. He had been planning this for a while, he had to ensure her safety at all costs. Akari smiled and hugged him.
"When will you leave?"
"Tomorrow, I will write the letter when I arrive back at yours. I will then send it two days later through one of my followers. That way I will be back here before the letter arrives." He explained and she sighed, resting her head on his shoulder.
"It's going to be scary without you." She admitted after a short pause. Rido held her closer and gently ran his fingers though her hair.
"I know, but remember, Kaname can't make you do anything you don't want to do. I'm sure Takuma or Akatsuki will step up as your bodyguard. You can trust them to keep you safe, just don't trust them with any information." Rido warned her before kissing the top of her head. Akari smiled and gave him a light squeeze as they hugged. "I have to go, make preparations. I'll ask Takuma to watch over you and if he can't for whatever reason, to ask Akatsuki on my behalf." He added and gently pushed her back onto her feet. "I promise I'll be as quick as I can." He gave her one last kiss before leaving.
Akari signed and fell back onto her bed. She didn't want to be without Rido. She took solace in the fact that it was to ensure her escape from Kaname. That she couldn't wait for.
The next evening, a knock at her door drew her attention off her braid. She opened it to see a bored looking Akatsuki.
"Can I help you Akatsuki?" She asked, pretending not to know anything.
"Senri had to go home, something about his mother. He asked Takuma to assign someone to be your temporary bodyguard." Akatsuki explained, the bored look across his face not changing a slight bit. He didn't really want to be doing this. He was only doing this as a favour to Takuma because he was busy doing some job for Kaname.
"Oh." Akari made herself sound surprised. "Well, thank you for letting me know. I will be down shortly; you can go ahead if you wish." She then continued before going back to her hair. She heard him sigh before his footsteps started moving away.
The rest of the night seemed to creep along. Akatsuki sat next to her, studying her as she sat on her desk as usual. He noticed she seemed more aloof than usual, normally she would at least pay some sort of attention to the class but today she seemed set on staring off into the distance. It was almost like she was missing a part of her soul with Serni gone. Akatsuki wasn't the only one who noticed this, Kaname had also been watching her closely. It annoyed him to no end, it was clear to him that their relationship was simply and arrangement of convenience for Akari rather than love like it was for him. He had always known he was Rido's replacement for her but her shine for Senri had gotten too much for him to stand. He was becoming more and more convinced that Senri had wormed his way into her heart. This would mean it would reduce his chance of making her fall in love with him. Or at least feeling something more than convenience and settling with him for an easy life. He hadn't missed the longing in her eyes like Akatsuki had. Longing for Senri. He would have to come up with a way to push Senri out without Akari noticing, starting from now.
Kaname stood up, making the class pause. Everyone watched him closely, everyone but Akari who had still to notice what was going on. Akatsuki took his cue to stand up and leave. Now Akari noticed. She watched Akatsuki confused before moving her head to the side and seeing Kaname, waiting to sit down next to her. She nodded, giving him permission to sit by her. He had never done this before and it confused her. He had made it clear before that he didn't want to publicly show their relationship even though the whole class already knew. Kaname sat down, leaning back in his chair. He hid his joy at the fact that she had yet to move her eyes from him, following his every move. He knew this was out of curiosity.
He had now decided to make their relationship clear to everyone; in turn it would make it harder for Akari to walk away from him for a fling with Senri. Now she would be watched closely by everyone, making it harder for her to sneak around with the aristocrat. He would make it clear to Senri when he came back that any touch that could be seen as sexual, punishable with some sort of pain. If he ever found them in bed together, he would have Senri executed in the most cruel and painful way imaginable. He would make her watch, teach her that she is his.
Akari turned her body towards him, waiting for him to speak. She watched as his face made very slight changes as his thoughts ran though his mind. She almost jumped as he looked up at her. His hand lightly gripped her wrist before he pulled her into his lap. She also squeaked in surprise, her wide eyes looking down at him. He ignored her surprise and nuzzled his nose against her jaw line, he felt her tense slightly before relaxing. He knew she would be nervous about his closeness to her neck after they first met. His mind quickly went back to that night when he asked Haruka what her name was. He remembered Haruka telling him not to bother as Rido had failed so far. Now look at him, the woman of his dreams was sitting in his lap and accepting his advances. Kaname's arm snaked around her waist and held her tightly to him.
Akari leaned against him, she didn't want to cause a scene. She chose instead to stare out of the window. She caught a glimpse of Zero, who stared back for a moment. She watched as his sympathetic expression hardened back into hate, almost like he had forgotten she was one of them. She was curious about Zero, he hated them all but he seemed to less aggressive towards her. Maybe it was because she stood up for him in front of Kaname?
When the class was over, Kaname helped her to her feet before gesturing for her to take his arm. She took his arm and let him lead the way. She could feel Ruka's glare I the back of her head.
