Episode 6: Echoes of the Past Part 2

Back in the mysterious pyramid, Knuckles, Julie-Su, and Mighty are caught in a trap that has lasers above them, and a spiky wall closing in on them.

Julie-Su exclaims, "The walls are closing in!"

"Blast it! Finitevus must have known we were coming!" Knuckles says.

He punches one of the spikes on the wall, but no good.

Mighty then uses his strength to hold back the wall.

He says, "I'll give the ancient albionites this! They know how to build a sturdy death trap."

"Somehow I think this is one of Finitevus' renovations. I might be able to squeeze between the laser grid," Julie-Su says.

Then turns to the boys, "Anyone else wish they'd swapped Master Emerald guarding duties with Vector?"

Back at the shrine on Angel Island, the Dingo robots continue to make their way to the Master Emerald, hoping to steal it. Ray then kicks one of the robots. Vector grabs one of them and throws it at the others. Locke and Moritori fight off the Dingo bots with their brute force, but there are still a lot of them.

"Three down…" Vector says.

"And a-about a b-b-bajillion to go," Ray says.

Vector then punches one of the robots apart, "I take it back! We could really use Espio right now, traitor or not!"

Locke then crushes all of the robots, "I have to wonder where all of these are coming from."

"They ambushed us out of nowhere," Moritiroi adds.

Ray nervously says as one chases after him, "There's t-t-too many of them! We gotta r-r-run for it!"

"Not a chance," Vector says, smashing one of the robots.

Then says, "I'm not letting the Master Emerald go on my watch!"

He bites on the robot, but spits it out to feel the taste of oil from his mouth.

Ray nervously says, "Y-y-y-you s-s-said th-th-that…"

"Save your breath, kiddo. You'll need it," Vector says.

Moritori says, "We must prevent them from stealing the Master Emerald. There's a whole continent down there that would be crushed if Angel Island falls. And at this point, there's nowhere to run."

Meanwhile, Eve along with her team, and the Downunda Freedom Fighters arrive at the large crater that is also connected by ancient ruins.

"So this is the Great Crater, it's a lot bigger than I thought," Fiona says.

"Never suspected that Angel Island came from this place," Nic says.

"And since the shrine was connected to the island, I guess it means Tikal and her people came from here Downunda as well," Eve says.

Nic turns to Walt, "This is where you saw Finitevus and the Dark Egg Legion?"

"Yes. They've been here for a few days now, not sure what they're planning," Walt says.

"Whatever it is. We better figure out what they're up to and find out why Finitevus is hanging around with them," Eve says.

"And wreck that plan," Fiona suspects.

"Chao," Jazz replies.

"Yeah, that's basically how we spend our time," Eve says.

The group then begins to walk towards the ancient ruins that are next to the Great Crater.

Back in the pyramid base, Mighty is using his strength to hold back the spiked wall.

Struggling to hold, Mighty says, "I've got this. For now. Hurry!"

Knuckles and Julie-Su act fast. Knuckles uses his spiked knuckles to climb up the wall while Julie-Su uses him to blimp up.

"The controls have to be nearby. Get me up there I'll squeeze through, and shut it down," Julie-Su says.

"Right," Knuckles replies.

Julie-Su continues to climb up as Knuckles says, "Careful, 'Su."

Julie-Su continues to climb on Knuckles and begins to split past the grid that is close to the wall.

Carefully moving up, she says to herself, "Easy… easy…!"

But screams, "OW!" When the tip of her tail touches the laser grid.

But Julie-Su is able to climb out and reach the ground floor above.

"Julie-Su?" Knuckles calls out.

"It's nothing! I'm on my way!" Julie-Su says, hurrying to the controls.

Luckily,Julie-Su is able to see the controls on one of the pillars, "I found the controls."

Julie-Su then connects her cybernetic dreadlock to the control and tries to hack into the system.

She frantically types her fingers as she says, "Come on! Come on! Let me in!"

Down at the trap, Knuckles and Mighty are using both their strength to prevent the walls from crushing them, but are becoming exhausted from putting pressure on them.

Knuckles says, tired, "Maybe your shell would protect you while I…"

"You've self-sacrificed enough…"

At the controls, Julie-Su continues to type the controls to get into the system, but it says 'Denied' on the screen.

"Denied?!" Julie-Su says shocked.

Then begins to panics, "Maybe if I used… No! No No NO!"

At a last resort, Julie-Su brings out her hand blaster, "BLAST YOU!"

Then fires at the controls with full force with tears coming down her face, destroying it in a matter of seconds.

Suddenly, she hears Knuckles' voice, "Julie-Su!"

She turns her head to see Knuckles and Mighty are able to climb out.

"You did it!" Knuckles says.

"Nice dramatic timing, too," Mighty adds.

"Now let's…" Knuckles says, but notices the destroyed control panel as Julie-Su wipes the tears from her face.

"Since when does that count as 'hacking'?" Knuckles asks in remarks.

"I took a page from your book of tactics this time," Julie-Su says.

Soon enough, the group is able to find Finitevus' lab. There are a few computers, a file cabinet and a few other things, as well as papers scattered around on the ground. The lab is a bit of a mess.

"I think we found the lab guys, I never took Finitevus to be such a slob," Mighty says, and shrugs his shoulders.

Knuckles picks up some papers as he says, "No. It looks like the General's troops ransacked the place."

"Thanks a lot," Knuckles matters.

Julie-Su walks to the computers, "I doubt they got into the database, though."

"Just don't blaster-hack this one," Knuckles remarks.

Julie-Su turns to Knuckles with an annoyed face, "You hush. I saved your life."

Julie-Su then begins to type on the computer.

Bur Mighty is able to find something, "Guys? I think I found something."

The two Echidnas turn their heads to see a Warp Ring and it's still open.

Back at the shrine, Vector, Ray, Locke, and Moritori are still fighting against the Dingo-bots.

Ray dodges them as he says, "A-a-alright. Th-th-then… l-l-looks like i-i-it's up t-t-to me!"

Ray then lands on the Master Emerald.

Confused, Vector asks, "Ray! What are you…?!"

"I d-d-didn't w-w-want to c-come t-to this… but," Ray says, and somehow able to change the Master Emerald's power.

Then calls out, "Now you face Super Ray!"

Vector and the Dingo-bots are stunned to hear and see Ray begin to glow and send electric charges. In fact, the Dingo-bots end up flying away in fear.

Shocked, Vector asks, "S-since when can you go 'Super'?!"

Ray laughs as he hops off the Master Emerald and says, "I can't B-but t-they didn't know."

"You knew better, r-r-right?" Ray asks.

"Of course! I had to play along or they'd figured it out!" Vector says, trying to play it cool. However, he really doesn't know Ray's performance is a ruse.

Vector scratches under his chin, "Let's pretend I didn't know how you pulled that stunt, though."

"Knuckles t-t-told me that its p-powers react t-to anyone. J-just that it reacts b-better to some than others," Ray says, holding his hand to the emerald.

The emerald gives it some charge. Vector does the same and it zaps as well.

"Alright, alright. I'm impressed," Vector says, scratching his head.

Locke chuckles, "That's very clever Ray."

"Just like Vector s-said! A good d-detective turns any useful information to their a-advantage!" Ray says.

"Indeed, but the Dingo-bots will be back unless we act," Moritori says.

"But why are they here?" Ray asks.

"That I'm not sure, but I have a feeling we'll be finding out," Locke says.

Back at the ancient ruins by the Great Crater, Eve and the others arrived at their destination.

"It will work better if we split up mates, Eve will go with her team and look at this direction," Walt says, pointing forward.

Then points towards the Crater, "My team and I will look around close to the Crater."

"Okay," Eve says.

The teams then split up and head off in different directions.

Eve, Nic, Fiona, and Jazz look around to see the ancient ruins.

"Man, this place looks very old," Fiona says.

"It's ancient. It's supposed to be old," Eve says.

Jazz says, "Chao Chao."

"I wonder why Finitevus would be here of all places," Nic wonders.

"Who cares. That creep is still going to get it when I get my hands on him." Fiona angrily says, cracking her knuckles.

Eve turns to Fiona and says, confused, "You seem to be taking this very personal, Fiona?"

"I'm surprised you're not," Fiona says.

"What do you mean?" Eve asks.

Fiona sighs, "It's because of what he did to Knuckles, and what he almost did to you. Because of him you and Knuckles ended up becoming Enerjak. Course, you're the one who practically saved our necks."

"I wish you didn't have to remind me of that occasion. I still feel on edge about me and Knuckles becoming Enerak and the stunt Finitevus has done," Eve says.

"Sorry. I guess I just want to punch his teeth in when I find him," Fiona says.

Nic then brings out his blaster, "You're not the only one."

"Come on, let's go find him and the Legion and stop them. Then we can get back to New Mobotropolis to deal with the other situation," Eve says.

"Chao Chao," Jazz says, and points to the sky.

Eve, Fiona, and Nic look up to see the floating island above them. In fact, it's floating towards the Great Crater.

Back in the lab at the pyramid, the three see the Warp Ring and it's just standing there.

"Looks like the doctor's away on business," Julie-Su says.

"Which explains why the dingoes got in and out alive," Mighty says.

Then replies, "I wonder where this goes?"

"Only one way to find out," Knuckles says, walking to the warp Ring.

Julie-Su calls out, "Whoa! Hold it!"

But Knuckles is already walking through the Warp Ring. Soon, he appears on the other side to see ancient ruins that are exactly like the ruins where the General instructs them to go. Julie-Su and Mighty follow after him.

"We're back at the start of the ruins!" Knuckles says, looking around.

Then angrily shouts, "Enough tricks! FINITEVUS! Come out here and face me!"

"Save your breath, sweetie. We're not on Angel Island anymore," Julie-Su says.

The three look up to see Angel Island above them, and making its way over the Great Crater. And appears the ruins they are at now is not the same as the one on Sandopolis on the island. However, the ruins are the same design and structure.

"So this proves it. The ruins were here before the island was made," Julie-Su says.

"But there were no settlements back then!" Knuckles says.

"That you know of," A familiar sinister voice says.

The three turn their heads to see the white echidna, Finitevus.

"Quite the mystery, isn't it?" Finitevus says with a smug on his face.

Suddenly, the Echidnas they're looking for, Knuckles, Julie-Su, and Mighty begin to chase after him.

"Get back here, you coward!" Knuckles angrily says.

Somewhere in the ruins, Eve then hears a familiar shout of rage.

"Huh?" Eve says, confused.

"What is it, Eve?" Fiona asks.

"I thought I heard something," Eve says.

The girls look around until they see Finitevus running away.

"It's Finitevus," Fiona says.

And soon see Knuckles, Julie-Su, and Mighty.

"And it looks like the Chaotix are here as well," Fiona says.

"Let's circle around and see if we can help them. You two handle the ground, Jazz and I will head to the air." Eve says.

"Good plan," Nic says, bringing out her blaster.

Eve and Jazz fly in the air and Nic and Fiona hurry to catch up on foot. Meanwhile, Knuckles and the others chase Finitevus, Julie-Su even tries to blast him.

Knuckles glides in the air as he says, "Come back here, coward! You have a lot to answer for!"

Then swings his fist, "What you did to the Brotherhood!"

Finitevus then dodges the attack.

Julie-Su fires her blaster, "What you did to our people!"

The echidna continues to dodge the blast, but stops when Mighty blocks his path and prepares to punch him.

"What you did to Knuckles!" Mighty angrily says.

Suddenly, Fiona then appears from behind him, "And what you tried to do to Eve?"

"Fiona? What are you doing here?" Mighty asks, confused.

"Punch this guy now. Ask questions later," Fiona says.

"Right," Mighty says, and prepares to punch the white echidna.

Finitevus then uses the Warp Ring to avoid the attack, and questions, "What I did?

Then Mighty's fist goes through the ring. Fiona stops and dodges the attack.

"I made him a god. I made him part of this world's rebirth," Finitevus says.

Then suddenly, use two Warp Rings to send Mighty and Fiona falling through it from the ground.

"I helped to weed out the aged and corrupt of Echidna race," Finitevus adds.

As the two are falling though, Nic and Julie-Su arrive on the scene, but the Warp Ring over from above them, and Fiona and Mighty crash on top of them. They four become dizzy since they end up hitting each other with their heads.

Finitevus turns to face the four, "And your friend, Eve, became corrupted because of her own recklessness. Even what she tried to do was noble in her eyes. Not that I have to answer to you, of all people."

Suddenly, Eve arrives at the scene and spin dashes Finitevus. And then, Knuckles punches him in the face. Then uses his cloak to slam him to the wall of the old building. Knuckles then grabs him by the collar of his cloak and lifts him up with pure anger.

"Hello, Knuckles," Finitevus says.

"You're sicks, and you're mine!" Knuckles angrily says, and prepares him to punch him in the face.

Suddenly, they begin to hear some strange sound. It seems to be going 'pechunk' or something. The sound ends up catching everyone's attention.

"What was that?" Eve wonders.

"Chao Chao," Jazz replies, flying to Eve.

Back at the shrine, Ray, Vector, Locke, and Moritori are wondering about the strange robots around the area.

Ray asks, "H-have you ever seen robots l-like that before?" Ray asks.

"No, but I've heard of them. They sound like the robots Croc-bot used to use," Vector says.

"But, Sonic and Eve destroyed him for good, right?" Ray says, confused.

"That's what I thought. That doesn't mean Robotnik's hold on Downunda was gone for good, though," Vector says.

Locke then says, "We're over Downunda as well. That's too much of a coincidence for me."

"Sounds to me it's worth checking out," Moritori says.

Vector turns to Ray, "You still have one of our Warp Rings?"

"Y-yeah, just a sec…" Ray says.

Then takes the ring out and gives it to Vector.

Locke says, "Vector, you and Ray will go find Knuckles and tell him what's going on. Moritori and I will watch over the emerald."

Suddenly, they begin to hear some strange sound.

"Do you hear that?" Moritori asks.

"Y-yeah, w-what was…?" Ray asks.

Suddenly, a loud sound appears and the island begins to shake.

"What in the…?" Vector explains.

The island continues to be shaken and Ray ends up being bounced off the island.

"Ray!" Vector panics.

Luckily, Ray is able to fly in the air, "I-I-I'm o-okay! B-b-b-but the island!"

Vector, Locke, and Moriotri look over the edge and are shocked to see a harpoon is attached to the grounds of the island and attached to the chain, holding it down. From the ground floor of the crater, more harpoons attached to chains are being launched from cannons and attached themselves to the island, stopping the floating island in their tracks.

At the ruins, Knuckles, Eve, and the others are shocked to see this themselves.

With an evil grin, Finitevus asks, "What will it be, boy? Cave in my skull now… or we can save your precious island."
