Naruto is walking with Sasuke through the Uchiha district towards Sasuke's house. Once there Sasuke's mother welcome's them. She gives them a snack, something to drink and asks how the lessons at the academy were. Naruto never had anyone else than the third Hokage asks him about that so he was surprised. He was actually very surprised that Sasuke's mother is so nice to him. Sasuke told him his mother was happy they were friends and Naruto is happy that Sasuke has such a nice mom.
After Sasuke and Naruto have finished the snacks and Mikoto is going to shop for dinner they go upstairs. Sasuke's father is still at work and Itachi is training. Both will be home for dinner.
Naruto tells Sasuke that Kurama finally has apologised to Shukaku. It has taken a while but Shukaku is interested in them and their story and has allowed Naruto to communicate with Gaara. He doesn't want to be captured by the Akatsuki. Gaara and Naruto are now happily friends and Naruto enjoys talking with Gaara even if Gaara doesn't remember the future. Naruto is the one who does most of the talking. Gaara is probably still just adjusting to someone that wants to talk to him and is not afraid of him. Sadly Naruto was too late and Gaara had already killed his uncle accidently. But Naruto is going to make sure Gaara isn't lonely. Now that Shukaku and Gaara are communicating with each other and Shukaku is not working against Gaara anymore and calling for blood Gaara's control has begun to get much better. Hopefully his father and siblings will be less scared of him and their relationship will become better.
Naruto also told Sasuke that he hasn't yet encountered Kakashi at the memorial stone. Sakura told them that at this point in time Kakashi was in anbu. They think that Kakashi might be on a very long anbu mission and that that is the reason why he hasn't visited the stone yet.
They hear Sasuke's mother returning from her shopping trip and start to cook. Naruto takes it as his cue to leave and he walks with Sasuke down the stairs but before he can open the front door Sasuke's mother calls out to him.
''Naruto, do you want to eat dinner here?''
Naruro takes a glance at Sasuke who just shrugs. ''Are you sure the others won't mind?'' Especially Sasuke's father, Naruto thinks.
''I don't mind and I am sure Itachi and Fugaku are interested in meeting Sasuke's friend. I also bought too much for just the four of us so it is no problem at all.'' She smiles. Naruto nods and Sasuke's mother smiles widens.
''Do you need help with preparing dinner?'' Sasuke asks. He often helps his mother because they both enjoying spending time with each other. They do it mostly after his mother has helped him with Training. But because Naruto is visiting them Sasuke hasn't trained with his mother today.
''I would appreciate it.'' She says.
''I um don't know how to cook.'' Naruto says embarrassed. Sasuke raises his eyebrows in confusion.
''But what do you eat then when you are at home?''
Naruto looks at the floor and mumbles. ''Ramen.''
Sasuke's mother stares at him for a while. ''Well that is not good growing boys need a lot more than just ramen. But you don't have to worry I can teach you if you want. ''
Naruto's eyes widen in surprise as he looks up to look at her. ''Sasuke is learning to cook so it is no problem at all. Withouth healthy meals you won't be able to become a good shinobi after all.''
Naruto gives her a big smile in return and her eyes soften. They walk into the kitchen and make curry. Mikoto gives Naruto clear instructions and helps him with cooking the rice while Sasuke is busy cutting ingredients. When dinner is ready they set the table and wait for Itachi and Fugaku to arrive. Itachi is the first one to arrive and looks surprised to see Naruto in their home but hides it. He greets Naruto and introduces himself and then disappears into his bedroom to change in something else then his training gear. When Itachi returns Fugaku has also arrived. He also seems surprised that Naruto is there but he also greets him and introduces himself. They sit at the table and start eating dinner. It is kind of awkward with Itachi and Fukagu staring at Naruto. Sasuke's mother tries to get everyone to talk by asking questions. Both Fukagu and Itachi give short answers and Naruto guesses it runs in the family. She also asks how he and Sasuke first met and Naruto tells her they met at the academy and sat next to each other.
It actually is kind of nice eating dinner like this. Even if it was awkward at the beginning. This is much better than eating dinner alone. The food also tastes better than instant ramen.
After dinner Fugaku goes to office at home and after helping with washing the dishes Itachi goes to his room. Naruto puts on his shoes to go home and refuses Mikoto's offer of someone going with him. He does accept the suggestion from Sasuke to escort him to the gates of the Uchiha district. Right before they leave the house Naruto can feel Mikoto staring at him.

I know Shukaku's change of heart might have been weird but have you guys seen him in Boruto? I also wanted Gaara to have a better childhood. I also didn't feel like writing so much dialogue again so I wrote it all like this instead.
Sorry for the long wait but I this chapter just ... it feels kind of off. Also school has started again :(.
