*Levy's p.o.v*

"What else can Juvia do?" Juvia sighed to Me and Gajeel, over a glass of mojito. "She has thrown herself at Gray-sama, Been cool and aloof with him, tried to be as sexy and seductive as possible, and still he acts as if he isn't interested in Juvia."

"I don't think you have to do anything else Juvia." I reassured the water mage. "Just look he hasn't taken his eyes off of you since you left the dance floor, and from what I witnessed earlier, Gray seemed to be drooling all over you."

The poor woman tilted her head slightly to the left to confirm that my statement was true. Which of course it was, I wasn't a liar and if I was honest I was never a very good liar in the first place, so she didn't need to doubt my word.

"Do you really think so?" She inquired, turning her gleaming love heart eyes back to us. Gray really would be a lucky guy to have Juvia as a girlfriend, if only he'd give the girl a shot.

"The sucker is hooked." Gajeel snickered from beside me, before raising his beer mug and draining it dry. How can he do that? If I even attempted to drain any glass of alcohol I'd be flat on my back in 10 seconds flat. Not the time to be thinking of such trivial matters Levy, I scolded myself and returned my attention back to my troubled friend.

"Yes as Gajeel so aptly put it." I sighed, he really had no eloquence to his speech. " He is hooked."

"What's that supposed to mean squirt?" He grumbled raising an eyebrow at me.

"Don't call your girlfriend a squirt!" I huffed at the rugged man. "And I meant you could have worded it nicer."

"I tell it as I see it." He shrugged, standing up proceeding to give my hair a quick ruffle and then headed off in the direction of Lily, Carla and Happy.

"Honesty," I groaned, shaking my head at his brashness. "Why did I fall for such an oaf?"

"He's not that bad." I jumped a little as Juvia's voice registered. I had completely forgotten about her, I mentally face palmed over getting so absorbed in my little spat with Gajeel.

"I'm sorry Juvia." I squeaked hoping the water mage/Gajeel's oldest friend would forgive me for that little grumble. "I didn't mean it like that."

"Juvia knows you didn't. Juvia also knows that Gajeel-kun can be hard to handle." She smiled at me somewhat warmly, this was a rare moment. Juvia rarely showed this kind of emotion to fellow females. "But what is this about you and Gajeel-kun becoming a couple?"

"Ah well, um you see." I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, while fidgeting with the hem of my top. It still felt unreal to me that the man I had been crushing on for so long had made a move and asked me out. "It happened tonight actually."

"Explain all please." Juvia demanded pulling her chair closer to mine, so that the loud music didn't drown out any of the major details. I guess this was a pretty big deal to her, and the other girls...I'd be having to be explaining tonight's events for a while.

"It started after I left Jet on the dance floor so I could go and get a drink from the bar and get away from him as I was regretting that I had agreed to dance with him by that point. I was annoyed because the bartender had asked for ID when Jet came back up to me and he kissed me, he stole my first kiss I hasten to add. I was so shocked I couldn't move or push him away it was as if my mind shut down."

"Gajeel-kun would not have liked that." Juvia gawked at me.

"You're right he didn't," I laughed, remembering the whole scene. "He must have stormed up behind me while I was still in shock because next thing I knew, Gajeel was towering over us looking extremely pissed, before he rescued me." I decided to leave out the part where he carried me like a sack of potatoes. "After that we had a chat in the courtyard and he asked me to be his woman before proceeding to kiss me in a way that made my legs turn to jelly."

Juvia seemed to have been made speechless by the look on her face, and the fact she was just gaping at me as if I was a freak show at the circus.

"Juvia cannot believe it." She finally spoke in wonder. "What would make Gajeel-kun be so bold."

"Maybe he realized he might actually lose me?" I theorized. I knew Juvia's sentence was more rhetorical, but I had been wondering the same thing. What had prompted Gajeel to make the first move? Could it possibly have anything to do with what Lisanna and Him had been talking about?

"Especially if he witnessed someone else kissing you." Juvia nodded. "Dragon slayers are rather possessive like that."

"Instinct then?" I asked, needing another person to help me figure out what could have changed Gajeel's attitude so much in a matter of minutes. As I was still highly baffled by his attitude before.

"The most likely answer." Juvia agreed, downing her drink and standing back up. "I'm back off to the dance floor, do you want to join me?"

"I'm okay thanks, think I'll read my book for a little while." I declined and pulled out the large volume that I'd brought with me in case of emergencies. I preferred reading over dancing any day of the week, and I had already danced far too much for my liking already tonight.

"Juvia is off then." The water mage said as she headed back towards the dance floor and from what I could see a rather eager Gray. Hooked was definitely the only word to describe the guy's expression.

"Have fun." I called after her before burying my nose into my book.

`The next thing I knew was that I saw a large hand descended in front of my face and yanked my novel from my hands and close it.

"Hey." I huffed. I'd just been getting to the good part, where the heroine of the story was about to unmask who her mystery admirer was.

"Why did you bring a book to a party?" Gajeel questioned sitting next to me.

"Leave the girl alone Gajeel." Lily warned dropping down into my lap for a cuddle. I appreciated him having my back and if I was honest I was surprised Gajeel didn't understand more why I'd brought it as he was the poster boy for anti social behaviour.

"Because I like to read more than I like to party." I replied, fussing the top of Lily's head and checking the time on my watch. Wow it was 1am already! I really did lose track of time when I got sucked into a story.

"So you don't want to dance with me then?" Gajeel grumbled turning his head to the side trying to hide the tiny blush that had crawled onto his face. I simply gawked at him not knowing what to say. The only time I'd ever actually danced with Gajeel was the time when Lucy had been trying to teach Natsu and Gray how to behave for the formal wizard ball that one time. I'd enjoyed it immensely but had thought it to be a one time deal, although I'd all but given up hope on the iron dragon slayer becoming my boyfriend and, yet here we sit an official couple.

"I would love too." I beamed, offering my hand to him so that he could lead the way, he took it and in a jiffy we were on the dance floor. One of his arms wrapped around my waist and the other took my hand and we started a four step square dance in time to the music, which had thankfully changed to a slower beat track. Though thinking back the music had been much softer and quieter for a while now. It had made reading a lot easier.

"Gajeel." I murmured resting my head on his chest as we continued to step in our own little dance thing.

"Hmmm." He grunted to let me know to continue what I wanted to say.

"This is real right?" I whispered, almost afraid of what the answer might be.

"Is what real?" He replied. Guess he didn't understand what I meant I sighed inwardly, then again men were more clueless about relationship issues than women.

"This... us." I stated, pulling my head back so I could look into those beautiful red eyes of his. It was strange to me that once upon a time his red eyes had terrified me and made me shake in fear and now they made me feel strangely safe and secure. Like a fire on a cold winters night. He didn't reply straight away but the hand on my hip did tighten its grip to the point of almost hurting me.

"Yes." The word was almost inaudible, so I did a double take.

"Pardon..."

"Yes it's real. You're mine now bookworm so get used to it." He growled lifting me up to plant a quick rough kiss on my lips before putting me back down.

I stood gazing at the gruff man with the largest smile that had ever graced my face. Oh I can't wait to talk to Lu-chan later, and tell her how much I appreciated her talking me into coming tonight. Just think if I'd stayed in my room back at fairy hills, I'd have missed my first kiss (which I was desperately trying to forget), getting my first boyfriend followed by my second kiss (though I was counting it as my first proper kiss). I guess she was right sometimes going to parties wasn't a bad thing.

*Freed's P.o.v*

"How did it go in the kitchen?" Lisanna asked, her eyes sparkling in anticipation for getting the 'down low' I believe the young kids called it.

"It seemed to go well enough." I replied matter of factly. I was not a gossip and thought it was up to Erza and Jellal to openly state their new found relationship statues to the guild and not myself. Then again Mira would probably spill the beans way before Erza did. "But why don't you go ask Titania herself if you want all the details."

"Good idea, thanks Freed." Lisanna smiled, as she got up to go in search of her intended victim.

I watched as Lisanna disappeared off to find the red-haired mage and listened as the music tempo changed and everybody turned from raving to slow dancing. I double checked the plans in my head again to make sure that everything was going according to my plan. Yes they were and it was almost time to begin as well. I looked around to try and find Mira, which didn't take me long. She was stood near the bar talking to a very red faced Erza, and Lisanna was looking especially happy next to them. I could guess what that conversation was about, I sighed out loud at the predictability of the woman I loved. I knew it came from a good place in her heart and her wanting everyone to be happy and find their true love, but just once I'd like her to worry more about herself. The guild members didn't know it but the snow haired woman was like a mother hen, she constantly worried when they went out on jobs, no matter how small. She barely slept as she was always having to ferry drunk members home and make sure they were alright and that they didn't choke on their own regurgitated fluids, Cana was the biggest worry on that front.

The woman really did work herself to exhaustion and nobody ever thanked her, it made me get a little hot around the collar at times especially when they all came home bloodied and beaten, and poor Mira was the one who rushed to get Wendy and helped tend to their wounds. The members really should appreciate her more and it was part of why I was always spoiling her rotten. The major part though was that I just couldn't say no to the beautiful woman, she really did have me enthralled. So tonight I was going to give her a little surprise. One that I hoped would make her night.

Now to position her to so that my rune trap would take full effect. Oh that reminded me, I would have to thank Lisanna for the idea later too, as she was all to thank or blame, depending how you viewed it, for this evenings coming events. When she'd asked me to set my traps around the guild I'd had the epiphany of setting an extra one just for Mira. But this one was special it would only activate when the guild was almost empty of non major members. After all this trap was only to be seen by family and close friends. Not that everybody else who was a part of fairy tail wasn't family, but I wanted this to be special and personal with only those we knew closely to be present.

I got distracted as I started to watch people leaving and looking at the clock to monitor the time. When I noticed that it was 1 am I checked around the guild to see who was left. I noticed Gajeel and Levy dancing together, Cana was battling Bacchus in a drinking competition, Laki and Juvia were sharing a table and enjoying a drink, Elfman and Evergreen had just descended the stairs looking rather disheveled (I wonder what they'd been up to?), Wendy had fallen asleep on Romeo's shoulder and he was nodding off himself, Lucy was standing by the bar and Natsu was sat with Gray, Laxus and Bixlow. It was perfect, now to actually set the event in motion.

I walked over to my lovely girlfriend and tapped her on the shoulder to gain her attention after she had finished speaking. "Mira."

"Yes." She replied, turning to see who needed her. "Oh hey sweety."

"Have you got a minute?" I inquired, hoping she'd say yes and lead the way. I clasped the velvet covered box that I had hidden in my right palm even tighter feeling my heart start to pound in my chest over the anxiety of what I was about to do. Please let it work, I prayed silently.

"Of course what do you need?" Her bright smile seemed to ease my nervousness a little. I gulped to clear the apparent blockage in my throat, pulled my shoulders back even more than normal and looked her dead in the eye.

"I think Master has fallen and hurt himself." I pointed to where I'd last seen the master, which was a few tables away.

"Oh dear." Mira cried and started to head to where I'd been pointing. Please forgive me for lying like this!

"Activate." I whispered under my breath, just as Mira entered the trap I'd set for her. I quickly walked up behind her and got into position.

"Freed what's going on?" She asked turning around to face me, confusion written all over her face. The music had stopped and everybody seemed to have taken notice of us now.

"Read the rule." I replied simply, and as I saw her look up to read the requirement I swiftly re positioned myself.

"You may not leave until you answer a question...What question?" Her eyes traveled back down to find me, a curious sparkle had entered her eyes and it intensified after she saw me down on one knee. I could she her face dawn in recognition of what was about to unfold.

"No way!" Every female in the guild seemed to gasp at the same time. Time to ask the million dollar question!

"Mira-Jane Strauss," I started off pulling the velvet box out for her to see. "Will you do me the extreme honour of accepting this ring and becoming my bride?"

I watched as tears sprang to her eyes and her hands flew up to cover her mouth as I opened the box to reveal a simple silver band with a brilliant blue sapphire set in the middle which was surrounded by diamonds. I'd spent the last 3 painful months dragging Laxus and company around looking for the perfect ring before I'd found this one, and I had to say it was the best one in my eyes as it matched her hair and eyes marvelously. A ring truly worthy of her beauty.

She nodded her reply and tried to come towards me but the barrier stopped her.

"You actually have to say the answer out loud." I prompted, with a shy smile as the rest of the guild chuckled.

"Yes." She whispered, launching herself at me as the barrier dissipated. "Yes, I will!"

Those words, brought tears to my eyes as I wrapped my arms around the love of my life. She had made me the happiest man on earth land, and I vowed to return that happiness to Mira-Jane a thousand fold. "Thank you! I love you."
