"Trina do you at your work know a girl named Kayla" asks Hannah
"Kayla Brewsworth, is that who you mean" asks Trina
"yeah, I love her and I'm afraid she's gonna die before I can tell her" says Hannah
"Kayla is a really sweet girl Hannah, though it is true she's not doing well, you're in a wheelchair right now Hannah, you have your reversal injection in an hour and I have to get ready for work" says Trina
"Trin for the love of God just take her, wheel her out to your car, lift her and put her in the passenger seat then fold her wheelchair and put it in the back seat, take one needle and the vial with you, you've seen Jade administer four doses, you know where to do it and how much to give her" says Tori
"what about the paralysis thing, I only have a two hour shift today, I wouldn't be there to pick her up and bring her home" says Trina
"if things go well then I'm sure the hospital will be fine with Hannah staying for several hours, Jade can always pick her up later, she's afraid she won't be able to tell the girl she likes that she loves them before or if they die, when you were with Cat after I thought I had to say that I didn't feel anything then Cat dated you and I realized I love loved Cat, I was afraid if have to take how I felt about Cat to my grave, that I'd never be able to tell her the truth, you saw where that guilt led me Trin, don't make Hannah feel like she can't tell the girl she loves that she loves them just because the shot paralyzes her for three hours, for all Hannah knows this might be her only chance" says Tori
"ok fine, what was the dose again" asks Trina
"the vial says fifty milligrams per dose and it shows five ticks from the bottom of the needle tube thing is fifty milligrams" says Tori as she hands the vial and a capped needle to Trina
"ok just let me make sure my phone is charged then we can go kay Hannah" asks Trina
"ok" says Hannah
At the hospital
"whose she here to see" asks Dr. Brant
"Kayla B" says Trina
"is she family" asks Brant
"she wants to be, they're friends from school, she was afraid she wouldn't get to confess her feelings before Kayla died" says Trina
"I wouldn't wish that fear on my worst enemy, Kayla just had her first round of chemo, we didn't want to risk it at first because of her size but we got the go ahead from her mom's, Kayla is a little out of it as a result" says Brant
"she's the reversal shot girl, you know the allergy one that the hospital had to pay out for damages, she has a shot in half an hour and if things go well can she stay for a few hours" asks Trina
"is the shot mandatory or a prescription medication" asks Brant
"yes and yes, it's helping reduce the risk of damage to her body but it paralyzes her for three and a half hours as a result" says Trina
"I heard about that mistake, that doctor didn't normally make mistakes like that, honestly I'm just glad she's alive, room one is Kayla today, we lost Bree so we had to shuffle the patients around again" says Brent
"bree wasn't gonna make it anyway, she knew that, her doctor didn't put the dots together fast enough, she'd been saying goodbye to everyone for three days, she knew she wasn't gonna make it, what's Kayla's chances" says Trina
"Kayla's cancer isn't in the idea spot for surgery hence the chemo but as aggressive as that cancer normally is in teens hers hasn't exactly been anywhere near as aggressive so her chances are higher than normal, though chances are her neck control won't be great, then again esophageal cancer never leaves its victims in great places anyway" says Brant
With Hannah and Trina in Kayla's room
"why does she look like she's sleeping" asks Hannah
"Chemo kills your body hoping it kills the cancer before doing too much damage, it tires them out, Kayla Trina's here" says Trina as Kayla wakes up
"you brought me a stuffie right, you promised me you would" says Kayla
"you know how hard it is to find a unicorn stuffie these days right, they were all sold out, Princess got me one online but it won't be here for a few days, I brought you Hannah from school though, I assume you heard what happened to her" says Trina
"my parents thought she died" says Kayla as her breathing slows a little
"luckily she didn't, she has a question for you, do I have your permission to put her on the bed with you" asks Trina
"sure" says Kayla as Trina lifts Hannah onto the bed
"I like you Kayla, I thought since you have a bad cancer that this might be the only time I could confess my feelings if you died" says Hannah
"you know you were always the cutest cheerleader at school right" says Kayla
"do you like me too" asks Hannah
"girl I joined cheer to be near you" says Kayla blushing
"wait are your moms ok with not having grandkids" asks Hannah suddenly scared
"I couldn't have kids if I tried Hannah, I have a rare genetic disorder that basically means my baby making insides are seriously malformed, as if they were made of paper and somebody crumpled it up, any chance you could stay here a few days, this chemo thing scares me" says Kayla as Trina pipes up
"she has an injection in twenty minutes then she'll be paralyzed for three hours and groggy, she has a shot every twelve hours for the next six months because of that doctors mistake, per the staying here for a few days I'll ask Hannah's doctor if it's ok and if it's oked then someone will have to be here to give her the injection" says Trina
"ok, can Hannah and I be alone for a bit" asks Kayla
"just don't do anything risky, this ward has cameras" says Trina
"aww so I can't kiss her" asks Hannah
"no Hannah you can, Trina Trin is saying you can't touch my special place without getting in trouble with the doctors" says Kayla
"oh ok" says Hannah
"I'll be back in fifteen minutes to give you that shot Hannah" says Trina as she leaves to check and talk to the other patients
"you know this is the closest I've ever been to you Han Han and I really do like it, your brother is a real dork though" says Kayla
"I know he is but he makes board games really fun, he puts chores on the line, like one time I put making my bed on the line and he had to make it because I won, another time was dishes and I had to do them because I lost" says Hannah as she lightly kisses Kayla
"what about laundry, is that ever on the line because that could get creepy" asks Kayla genuinely
"no, not once, he likes to say my clothes are my responsibility, however I did mess up the detergent thing one time and caused a mess so he will do that part if I put my clothes in the washer first, I did try and put it on the line once because I was curious what boy underwear looked like but he shot me down so I confessed about why I tried to put it on the line and the next day after work he bought me a pair so can see what they look like" says Hannah
"I thought you once said he did do your laundry though" asks Kayla
"shirts, skirts, pants and socks he will do no problem, underwear and bras are a no go for him, if I take mine out of my dirty laundry basket he will wash my laundry but only if I don't have my personal garments in the basket, on that he says other than my period cramps he doesn't need to know what happens to me or my panties and training bras, in his eyes unless it's health related and needs medical attention he doesn't need to know about it" says Hannah
"you know despite me being curvy for a fifteen year old I've never once had a period because of my medical condition" says Kayla
"must be weird, wait so you don't get hormonal" asks Hannah
"obviously I do, I have my time of the month just like any girl does, mine just doesn't include blood, my period hormones and stuff make it to there but it's like trying to send electricity through a cement wall without making the holes for the cables, nothing happens, the rest of my body still goes through the same motions, honestly it's weird seeing my friends buy tampons and pads for their periods and then there's me never having to pay for a single one" says Kayla
"wait so you have like no guy friends do you" asks Hannah
"unfortunately no I do not, what's really weird is my doctor is in disbelief because rarely does anyone with my rare condition ever makes it past eight years old, I'm literally one of six girls with my condition in the world that make it into puberty alive" says Kayla
"you had one years ago though right" asks Hannah
"Jerimiah yeah, I was eleven, I think he was autistic because during health class he asked if any of this reproductive stuff applied to me, I told him no and less than a week later guys started calling me the childless girl and a few days after that he killed himself, he was genuinely curious about how I had to live and I think he told someone he thought he could trust but shouldn't have and realized that he caused me to be the most hated girl in school when it came to guys and he couldn't handle the guilt, I never blamed him though, I actually thought he was kinda cute, I'd totally have gone on a date with him too" says Kayla
"when did you start having feelings for me" asks Hannah
"ever since I'd known you you'd wore that sparkly lip-gloss, I'd wanted to kiss you since the first day I met you because of that, I've always had feelings for you, I just didn't know what to do with them, I mean I understood both my parents are girls and it's okay for them to love one another but what I didn't know is when it became ok for someone my age to have feelings for a girl, so I asked them and when I told them it was you I had feelings for they smiled" says Kayla
"why" asks Hannah
"they'd apparently always had a feeling I was gay and had been assessing every girl I brought over based on the criteria of understanding my condition and getting along with me, apparently you were the only one that checked both boxes" says Kayla as Trina returns
"you got oked Hannah, Jade asked that Kayla's doctor give you your night dose and I'll be giving you your noon dose also since you're in the hospital you're getting oxygen as well since it does kinda affect your breathing" says Trina as she gets the dose ready
"I mean it kicks my butt what am I not supposed to be winded or something, it feels like a million cheerleaders practicing inside my body" says Hannah as she sits up and lifts her skirt up her leg for the injection
"hey Carla how many chemo days do I have left" asks Kayla as Hannah gets the injection and an oxygen tube for her nose
"six rounds then we check to see if its worse or if the chemo is doing its job, if it's doing its job then three more rounds and if its gone then it's down to meds to keep it gone" says Dr. Carla
"why can't Han Han's injection be in the arm, why does she have to ride up her skirt for it" asks Kayla
"that's where her doctor Laura told us to give it to her" says Trina
"Kayla I understand you're concerned but the overdose of meds she was given to clear her severe allergic reaction can damage the muscles in the legs first and because of the sheer amount she was given her doctor is trying to save her legs first and foremost so she will still be able to walk, knowing Laura as I do from college she prefers to save legs first in these situations then the upper body, trust me Kayla she's in good hands" says Carla as Hannah falls asleep
"the medicine paralyzes her for three and a half hours Kayla but she's more than likely to sleep three hours of it off, word of advice, don't make her feel self conscious about her condition as it only happened because she tried dating Harold from your school and he made her eat foods she was allergic to, she tried to be normal and it burned her which is why she wanted to see you so badly, she didn't know if she'd get another chance truly be herself and confess her feelings to you, on the way here she couldn't stop talking about your beautiful eyes" says Trina
"you know my parents can't afford this treatment I'm getting and are gonna have to get a second job each to pay for this" says Kayla
"not anymore they won't, Jade and I are dating Robbie and Jade has a thing about family, Hannah is family as of four days ago and the moment you in your own way said I love you to Hannah you become family too which means Jade is willing to put money towards your medical bills, before I came back in here I conferenced Jade and your parents in on a call Kayla, they were really excited about you being in love and when Jade said she was willing to cover at minimum half of the bill your parents thanked her, you could almost literally hear a hundred pounds of stress melt off their shoulders" says Trina
"how can Jade afford that" asks Kayla snuggling up to Hannah
"her grandfather owned one of the big oil companies and Jade inherited it and most of his money, she has two trillion dollars burning a hole in her bank account and she's making more money as the ceo of that company and she asked them to invest in green energy as a sub company thingy, she's trying to better the world and that includes paying half or more of all family hospital bills" says Trina
"wait didn't Jade say she was an aspiring actress when she was here the other day" asks Carla
"she is and it is still her passion, she writes skits and performs them in videos she posts which are massively popular and is one of the other ways she makes money, she just has a job now that requires her to work from home now so she gets a kick out of doing little skits, her board members actually help, for whatever reason we don't have a single one that asks for dirty scenes, given Jade is a very sexy lady that I'm glad to love I'm honestly surprised" says Trina
"Han Han is very warm and I like it, my moms are generally ones that need heat so it's nice to see she's warm, the chemo doctor says my arms are unusually cold for a girl my age, she was honestly surprised, I generally keep my room at home very warm, wait have my moms decided if I can live with her or not" says Kayla
"it's my opinion that you are very temperature sensitive Kayla, you clearly had a fever yesterday yet your temperature read as normal, I'm consulting with several doctors to see if you suffer from a rare genetic disorder which makes your normal body temperature a few degrees lower than everyone else, given you have one extremely rare genetic condition it's not uncommon to have a few more, the general rule is sets of three when it comes to the really rare ones" says Carla
"am I gonna die, is that why you're doing all these tests Carla" asks Kayla
"your parents are leaving that choice up to you Kayla" says Trina
"no Kayla your oxygen is up from yesterday, your heartbeat is better, given how your body has reacted to the first round of chemo the chances you're gonna die is down near zero, maybe two percent max, you will beat this" says Carla
"when you give Hannah that midnight injection can you please check it please, this chemo stuff scares me, I know it's supposed to help me but I'm scared" says Kayla
"of course I will Kayla, if anything changes I will let you know ok" says Carla
