I wish I owned DBZ, but I don't. I own DVD's and tapes, but it just isn't the same. Nor do I own any legal imprinting of whatever theme I'm using, such as a crossover with another anime, movie or TV series. Did I think it up? Yes. Was I the first to think it up? Probably not, but I digress. I also don't own the rights to any of the music pieces you see selected, just the merchandise, such a shame. The artists that created them are geniuses and we all must bow to them.
Chapter 22: World Summit
Two days later, the Central Capital was a buzz with activity, specifically in a tall rotunda capitol building near its center. Crowds and crowds of people had gathered for the World Summit, many of them with signs and pomp geared towards those they supported. Verto had only passed overhead in previous outings and had never actually visited the city. He waited inside the waiting room that had been provided along with Bulma and Goku. Lieutenant Pepper had also come along to provide testimony but was not certain on how well that would go over. They had elected to not take the entire bunker ship away from Kame House, but that didn't mean that they hadn't come in force. Gohan, Buu, Krillin and both Androids had stayed behind with most of the families; but Vegeta, Piccolo, and Tien waited outside of the city limits. They didn't want to separate completely nor leave anyone vulnerable, but it was hard to argue that a certain show of force might be necessary.
"Times like this I wish we could've kept Bardock and his team here, as complicated as that might have been," Verto remarked as he stared at the crowds. There were many indications of MAX supporters, Z fighter supporters, and just plain Mr. Satan fans, all dividing the crowd somewhat evenly.
Bulma walked up next to him to peer out, "Yeah, they would've been a big help in keeping the peace."
"How long until the meeting?" Verto asked.
"Not long, are you sure you want to be here for this? You know the other side will be incensed at your presence and will attempt to use that against us," Bulma reminded.
"Yeah, but we can probably use that against them. I'll let you do the talking anyway, you're probably better at politics than I am. And you'd certainly be better than Goku is," Verto said with a grin.
"What's polo-tics?" Goku asked.
"Exactly."
"Well I look at it this way, it's a big relief knowing I have such strong bodyguards in case things do get heated," Bulma replied, "And I'm not entirely sure we will be allowed to present a lot of evidence outside of Officer Pepper and Mister Satan's testimony. I came prepared but I do wish we could have had Sonny here, that would have helped at least with the bulk of the population."
Verto's eyebrow went up with concern, "You brought along the data we have, right?"
"Yes, I made enough copies to give out. My concern is how much skepticism we may run into. Things have changed since the Zerg War," Bulma reminded.
Verto nodded grimly, "Don't have to remind me of that one, it's almost as if…" A knock on the door interrupted them, signaling that the summit was about to start.
"As if what?" Bulma asked as soon as the attendant left.
Verto scowled, "Never mind, let's just get this over with."
The middle chamber of the rotunda was larger than Verto had initially thought. There was enough room for easily a hundred people inside, though only a few dozen had been shuffled in, along with a few news crews that were scrambling to set up equipment, most of which was behind the King's throne. Three representatives from all six major cities were present, with King Furry presiding in the middle with the Central Capital delegation. Mister Satan sat with the Satan City delegates for obvious reasons. Bulma, Goku and Verto all filed in and waited at their own table in front of the committee, which felt more like a court hearing than a summit to Verto. About a dozen feet from them was a podium setup for single witnesses with a chair and microphone. One of the news team's cameras was also between the podium and a few feet away from Verto. Verto thoroughly scanned the other delegations carefully, noting the hatred the North, South and East City groups pointed in his direction, which was no surprise. It was hard to miss Doctor Wheelo's avatar among the North City delegates, and Verto had to try very hard to restrain himself when he spotted the clone. Both Bulma and Goku took notice, and of course he was listed as Governor F. Cash; but they still recognized him. Among the East City group however, Verto recognized an officer he had crossed paths with, Lieutenant Reese.
"The one in the middle of the East City group, is a cop that saw first-hand the cyborgs turn on him, he could provide an account for us," Verto whispered to Bulma.
"If he hasn't been turned you mean," Bulma replied in a very low tone. There was a bustle of murmuring going on as more people filed in, more notably two robed figures that came in and stood behind the South City group.
Cultists, they sure are brazen about this. Great…Verto thought to himself. He had taken the time to scan everyone in the room, but as expected he was unable to pinpoint if any of them were cyborgs. He had brought a portable scanner with him as had Bulma, but they were electing to keep the devices hidden for the time being. After a few minutes of everyone getting settled, Verto noted the red-light indicators of the cameras turn on, and the news crews gave the signal that they were broadcasting.
"Ahem, you know why we are all gathered here today. This is a last-ditch effort to maintain the peace of the World Nation and bring North and South Cities back into the fold. We do not want to return to the days of old where nations fought each other. Outside of alien invasions, we haven't seen a war amongst humans since the Red Ribbon Army collapsed and disbanded," King Furry began.
A male delegate from South City with blonde hair and the name tag of Decker promptly stood up, "That's exactly what the problem is my King. Aliens have invaded, more than once, and you refuse to do anything about it. In fact, you have actively encouraged their activities!"
"Yes, aliens. Aliens who have helped to save this world time after time, Governor Decker. Apparently, you forgot about that," Furry reminded.
"The same aliens who love to randomly fight with each other in sparring contests that move mountains, your highness," Decker retorted.
Verto glanced at Goku, as did a lot of the room, and he could only grin sheepishly and rub the back of his head, "Yeah, sorry about that!"
"Not only that, we have solid proof that they are not as benevolent as you claim that they are! Sure, Mister Goku here is a man of honor, but the boy stood next to him is not!" Decker continued. Verto scowled at this but said nothing as Bulma looked at him wearily.
"We will get to witness testimony shortly Decker. Before that however, I want to discuss this MAX group and their association with you, Governor-elect Cash," Furry said, calling on Wheelo.
Wheelo stood, sporting a dark suit and tie as opposed to his usual lab coat, "My fellow delegates, my King, I did not wish to come here and continue talks of war. I only wish to allow you to hear and see the truth with your own senses! Miss Briefs and her alien friends may seem benevolent to the common person, but I see something darker in their future. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Many historians agree on this, as do many religions and even scientists, would you agree?"
Furry looked annoyed, "What is your point, Cash?"
Wheelo held his hands behind him, "My point is this: I have studied this race of aliens known as the Saiyans. They look a lot like us, and in fact are genetically compatible. You will recall they attacked this planet some time ago, and we're driven off world by Goku and his friends, Miss Briefs' eventual husband was one of them. Yet some time later, they resurfaced and suddenly are not the villains? What are we to make of that? We know they had a certain level of involvement with the Cell Games, and obviously a rather large part of the Zerg War. They have incredible strength by our standards, and can be extremely talented fighters, as you have seen in the martial arts tournaments. But you know what else they have that is a greater threat? An absurd lust for battle. Be it with villainous intruders or each other, they always want to fight and seek to increase their power. In fact, the more they fight, the stronger they get, and thus are harder to stop over time. Absolute power corrupts, no one is immune to this fact, what will they do when they are the strongest? And oh by the way, it seems that this battle reputation is not the only thing that they are known for. I have been able to contact other aliens you see, and the Saiyans are known as conquerors all over the cosmos. They are driven by this insane will to fight, even if it means destroying the livelihood of those around them just to have a brisk workout. They have been known to wipe out whole civilizations just to sell the planet to the highest bidder in a galactic form of piracy. As a Saiyan, do you deny this, Son Goku?"
Goku frowned, "I can't deny it. Most of my race have been evil tyrants bent on destroying people…"
"There you have it, he admits it himself!" Wheelo declared.
"Hold on. They have also paid the price for their crimes and were mostly wiped out by a truly evil guy that made them do those things. There are only a handful of Saiyans left, and they're all here on Earth, protecting it from evil guys, like you," Goku argued.
"If it wasn't for Goku and our friends, the Earth would have been wiped out several times by now," Bulma interjected.
"Yet wasn't Goku the reason that Cell came here to begin with?" Wheelo asked.
Verto scowled as his folded arms fidgeted slightly, Damn it. They are using the rather bloody history against Goku. I must stay calm and not lash out, Wheelo will undoubtedly come after me on it too. This is just like the hearing I had with the Time Guardians. Verto may have been struggling to keep calm, but Bulma had already given up on it.
"Maybe you should recheck history, Flandal. The Red Ribbon Army disappeared because Goku defeated them a long time ago. Their insane scientist created that monster Cell in order to kill Goku and destroy the world. And we know you have been messing around with that bastard's technology. Why don't you answer the King's question and tell the world why you have been involved with robotics and in doing so, helping to create this bigoted MAX group?" Bulma countered.
All heads in the room turned to Wheelo, who only smiled as he paused to consider his answer "You know the answer to that as well as I do Bulma, I simply want what is best for humanity and for the Earth. If you do not like it, you are free to leave, as I'm told you have several times to run away with your, charming husband. How many people has he killed by the way?" The death stare that emanated from Bulma rivaled Vegeta on his best days.
"That's enough. This will be a civil hearing. If you are not going to answer the lady's question, then please sit-down Governor Cash," King Furry bellowed.
"As you wish, my king," Wheelo said. Verto eyed Furry, who looked especially disturbed at the verbal exchange as Wheelo sat back down, but he said nothing further.
Verto silently shook his head in dismay, He's compromised. Either that or he is too terrified to mediate this objectively. We didn't even get the chance to bring up the cultists.
Furry hesitated as the look of fury from Bulma had not yet subsided, but he knew he had to follow through, "Mister Hercule Satan, the world respects your strength and opinion as much as anyone. What would you like to add to this conversation?"
Satan cleared his throat, "Your highness-majesty, people of the world. I haven't always gotten along with Goku or his friends, I will be the first to say it. But that man and his friends have saved this planet when no one else could, even me. So, to hear this, fraud, condemn him is just ridiculous!"
Wheelo grinned as he sat comfortably, "Fraud, that's the pot calling the kettle black isn't it?"
Satan recoiled at this, "What's that supposed to mean?"
Wheelo pressed the advantage, "Exactly what you think it means. If anyone knows about being a fraud, it's you. Didn't you once criticize Son Goku and his friends and claim that their powers and techniques were just a bunch of cheap tricks?"
"I've been on record acknowledging that I was wrong, you have it on tape," Satan reminded.
"Very true, was that before or after you supposedly defeated Cell?" Satan sweated nervously, which began to show as it seeped through his suit.
Governor Decker stood back up, "Objection. Governor Cash, this is a pointless attempt at character assassination. We may have similar viewpoints regarding Goku and his alien friends, but I will not listen to you pick apart the World Champion and Hero of the Cell Games. However, my King, the man's own daughter is married to Goku's son and is not an appropriate witness for testimony regardless of his past or present views. Please excuse him."
Furry reluctantly gave in, "Agreed. You may call your first witness then Governor Decker." Bulma and Verto exchanges glances as Hercule attempted to calm himself.
"That was a bit vicious, I didn't think he would go after Mister Satan like that," Bulma whispered.
Verto's scowl didn't waver, "I think he will go after whoever he sees fit if it betters his position. He wants us to get angry. I should just chop his metal head off and get it over with." Bulma looked alarmed at Verto's blunt words, but he showed no inclination of actually acting on them.
"Please state your name," Furry said, pulling attention to the newcomer that had just sat down at the podium.
"Lieutenant Reese, Global Police Force, Satan City Division," Reese said, decked out in his officer uniform.
"Lieutenant, how long have you served the public?" Furry asked.
"Ten years, my king. I come before you a humble man who has seen many things as of late, things I cannot explain," Reese said. This drew Verto's gaze, as he had previously crossed paths with Reese, and not in the best of ways.
Reese also turned to Verto, "I admit, that I have had misgivings about these aliens even before I got to know one. And your majesty, this boy does mean well, I have seen it for myself. We met in East City where he took on and stopped something that I still have nightmares about. Robots that had replaced people, some were even my own officers. They were just like normal people, and then they turned into rabid monsters all of a sudden. He stepped up and stopped them even as we tried to arrest him, and for that, he has my respect." Verto gave Reese a nod and then Reese turned away.
"That does not take away from other things I have seen. This boy has often taken the law into his own hands to punish criminals, often in brutal ways that I do not want to speak of. While he has cleaned up the streets in our various cities, he has also violated the human rights of those criminals, leaving them severely injured and near dead. An argument could be made for a few of them, I know some are beyond mercy. But that does not excuse him from carrying out violent acts himself. Who is he to play judge, jury and executioner?" Reese asked as he stood up.
Verto's brief respect for the man vanished just as soon as it had appeared, What's his angle here?
"Sit back down Lieutenant," Furry ordered.
Reese refused and started pulling off his jacket, "I'm afraid I cannot my King, because you need to hear this. Despite his rather violent nature, I have no doubt this boy is just in his heart, but the same cannot be said for others in their group. Do you remember King Piccolo? He didn't die like everyone thinks, and you know that. And Miss Briefs' alien husband Vegeta once eviscerated a room of reporters at a press conference just because of a few badly phrased questions!"
Bulma looked downwards as Verto scowled, Of course they would bring that shit up.
Reese held up his badge, "Not only that, these aliens are known for bad tempers and never have to face justice themselves. So why should we continue to allow them to act outside the law like their own private army? Just because it's then convenient when a major world ending threat arrives? Hell, based on what I've already heard, they're responsible for half of those happening. What could be the worse and most corrupt fraud of all time? A private army that can't be beat can suddenly police the world and basically do whatever they want. What if whatever they want then becomes the evil they claim to fight against? Governor Cash is correct in that absolute power corrupts, and I will not stand for that eventuality! And due to that fact, I must declare my resignation from the GPF. I will not belong to an unjust organization that may as well be corrupt." Reese then tossed his uniform top aside, revealing an arm band that clearly read MAX on the side. Wheelo smiled lightly while other delegates looked on and journalists snapped pictures.
Reese was not done, "I will join the new order of the world, the order that actually cares about saving it and not letting these aliens break the law!" Delegations of North and South Cities erupted in applause, as did all of the East City representatives. Two of the Central and West City delegates did the same, though mildly, while the Satan City governors sat glumly with Mr. Satan.
"That's enough, you may step down Mister Reese," Furry said in clear distain. Reese did exactly that as he walked over and joined the robed cultists, shaking their hands in the process.
"That could have gone better," Verto muttered aloud, but was mostly drowned out in the commotion of the other people in the room.
Bulma leaned over slightly, "Is it possible he was turned since you last saw him?"
"Completely possible, and it would be just like Wheelo to use the truth to tell a lie," Verto said in disgust.
"They have one more witness and then it's our turn," Bulma said. The guard at the door opened it, and a little girl of about seven or eight years of age came in wearing a small orange dress. Verto's eyes narrowed as he didn't recognize her from anywhere. Governor Decker stood up and walked over to the podium as the little girl sat down.
"Tell us your name," Decker said.
"Lucy," the girl whispered into the microphone.
Decker reached down and held onto her hand, "Lucy, I know this will be hard, but can you tell us what happened a little over a year ago? Start with where you are from."
"N-North City," she stuttered.
Bulma's eyes widened in realization, "Oh no."Verto was quick to notice but said nothing as he was likely the only one to hear it.
Decker stared right at Verto while holding Lucy's hand, "Tell us what happened that day Lucy, when your home was taken from you."
"I was sleeping, and a big noise woke me up. Our house was all broken, and my dad had fallen down and there was wood sticking out of him. He didn't wake up. My mommy was in the kitchen when the whole upstairs came down on her. I ran outside and our house fell down completely. I lost Teddy that day too and never found him. He was my puppy," Lucy said with tears streaming out of her eyes.
"And what happened after that?" Decker continued to press.
"It was all hot, and red and scary outside, and there were big holes everywhere. And this big red light was flying at me, but that guy stopped it," Lucy said as she pointed at Verto. This drew the attention of the entire room and the cameras, to which Verto ignored as he stared at the little girl.
"Can you describe him at the time?" Decker asked, staring a hole through Verto.
"His eyes were all mean and red, and scary. He looked like one of those evil people that my daddy would tell me scary stories about at night. I didn't think the monsters were real, but now I know they are," Lucy said in fright.
"Thank you, Lucy, that's enough," Decker said as Lucy got up and left the room.
"What Lucy described were the events of North City last year when more than half of it was utterly destroyed in battle by Goku's son, this boy, and a strange creature. Now I admit I do not know who was in the right at that time, but I do know that a hero of justice would not scare children half to death. That girl has been orphaned and in therapy since that dark day, where is her justice?" Decker asked. Verto came to realization of what Decker and Lucy were talking about, That must have been the battle with Android Thirteen when I lost control. I can't imagine that I was the nicest person to be around.
Furry looked quite perturbed at this, "Is there anything else you would like to add Governor Decker?"
Decker looked defiant, "There is plenty to say, but it is up to you all to listen. We will sustain for now and allow Miss Briefs to present her case if she wishes."
Furry stood up, "A brief recess then before the next witness."
Once the cameras were off and people filed in and out for the break, Bulma looked determined while Goku looked concerned.
"Do you think we can convince them?" he asked.
"Well, Pepper is going before me, but even without his testimony, I have mountains of data and information to give them. Anyone who isn't on Flandal's side won't be afterwards. We can stop this before it gets worse, isolate him, and convince the rest of the world who the real villain is," Bulma claimed.
"I hope you're right, but that's already what he's trying to do to us. You don't have to be an expert to know that was rough for us," Verto said. The doors open to reveal Lieutenant Pepper in his own dress uniform like Reese had been, though he showed no obvious signs that he had any arm bands hidden beneath.
"That was a tough first half, I genuinely hope I can be of help," Pepper said.
"It's better that you can speak on our behalf, as someone who is not part of our group you will not be seen as biased," Bulma reassured.
"We'll see. Had I not seen the things I have seen, I'd be tempted to join their group too after hearing all that," Pepper admitted.
"I suggest you don't," Verto sniped back.
"Relax kid, I have no intentions nor delusions of thinking that would go well for me," Pepper replied with a shaky grin. The regional governors along with King Furry all returned to their seats a few minutes later, though all remained standing out of respect for the king. Verto took note that Mr. Satan had not moved during the break, not even to speak to Goku. However, he did glare daggers at Wheelo when he returned.
Verto smirked slightly, Maybe that jab by Wheelo stung a little more than I thought, nothing like a little angry motivation.
King Furry sat down as did the rest of the room before continuing, "Lieutenant Pepper, you may take the stand."
Pepper nodded and did so, "Lieutenant Pepper, Global Police Force, West City Division."
"Thank you, Lieutenant. I understand you have chosen to speak on the behalf of Bulma Briefs," Furry said.
"Correct my king. Like Reese, I have butted heads with their group more than once, and like Reese claims, I have seen things I cannot comprehend. But unlike Reese, I will not fall for the trap. I have seen good people, even loyal officers of mine, turn into insane robots that have tried to kill me and others in broad view of the public. They instigated the riots in West and Satan City, and they are all controlled by that man right there," Pepper said, pointing to Wheelo.
Verto grinned slightly, Pepper doesn't mess around.
Furry's eyes widened, "Truly?! Governor Cash, explain this!"
"I doubt you will get much truth out of him my King. He has orchestrated this entire charade to slowly take over the world with his cyborg implants infecting, controlling, and even killing some people, Marcus and Sonny Satsu among them. He has also gained the backing of some religious cult that is planning on doing some really dark stuff. These guys are everywhere, including in this room. They might try to convince you that it is Bulma, her son or even the World Champion trying to do this, but it is a lie! It has been him the entire time, twisting and manipulating this whole situation. If you may recall, there was an event in South City last year where Sonny Satsu was set up to be framed, but the orchestrator had gotten away. He had uncovered part of what this prick was trying to do at the time, which was experimentation. His own daughter was used as a tool and lost her life due to that. These fine people helped Sonny work it all out, it was horrible work in which he turned humans into monsters. Sonny himself told me this before and I didn't want to believe it until I saw it for myself, the day that Capsule Corp was destroyed. Believe what you want to believe delegates, but that man is not trustworthy. Hell, he's not even human anymore," Pepper said as he looked around. Furry also looked around nervously, as did most of the room.
Wheelo smiled lightly as he stood up, "My King, I cannot tell a lie. What he says is true. I am taking over the world, and you will all be my puppets."
Furry stood up in anger, "Governor Cash, by my authority, your governorship is revoked, your properties will be seized, and you will be subject to a full and thorough investigation by all departments of justice. Guards, seize him!" Guards flowed in from several doors to surround Wheelo, who did not look threatened in the least. The rest of the seats were emptied as everyone got to their feet and the robed cultists joined the side of Wheelo to block the guards.
Bulma smiled and folded her arms, "Well, that sure convinced them. I guess all you need is a few good men."
Verto's eyes narrowed, "Yeah, but it's not like him to just come out and say it. Defeats the purpose of all of this. Unless…"
"Yeah, throw his butt in jail for life!" Satan roared in approval.
Furry and his guards looked intent on doing just that, and there was little that Decker or the opposing governors were doing to stop it. Wheelo was all smiles behind the pair of cultists, and was directing that expression towards Verto in particular, as if to taunt him. Verto took note of this just before Wheelo turned away and looked to the other end of the room. Verto's eyes focused as he followed Wheelo's gaze to the media members in the corner, all of which were messing with their cameras. He saw that the red-light indicators were not on, meaning the broadcast was not going out. One of the tech's working on the middle camera opened it and amongst the chaos of the chatter of the room, Verto could hear him distinctly.
"Hey Mac, what is this switch in here? It wasn't there before!"
"It's a new model, they're all controlled by the main camera. You probably tripped it when we went to break, just hurry up and turn it back on!"
Verto's eyes widened as he glanced at the camera sitting not five feet away from him and the light turned on.
BOOM.
Smoke, dust and shrapnel spread across the room before anyone realized what happened as the lights went out and the emergency lights from the wall took over. The overwhelming sound was replaced by screams of agony and increased commotion as fires spread and people struggled to recover. Bulma found herself completely unharmed as Verto had jumped in front of her and erected a golden energy shield around them to protect her. He dropped the shield just as Goku dropped his guard, and both looked over at the podium. There, covered in burns and blood, was the blackened body of Lieutenant Pepper, with enough of his face missing to know the answer to the question before anyone asked it. The media members in the corner were in similar condition as guards scrambled to check on them. King Furry was only injured minorly, but was just as shaken as the surviving governors, most of which were coughing hard. The major damage to the room was isolated to within a ten-foot blast radius by Verto's estimation, so only the news crews and the area around the podium could have received the lethal effects.
"Goku, get Bulma out of here, Instant Transmission!" Verto suggested.
Bulma looked concerned, "But we need to help these people!" Wheelo's grin didn't subside as he revealed a small remote control from his suit pocket and pressed the button. All at once, every governor and delegate that was not Wheelo, Mr. Satan or King Furry stopped doing whatever they were doing and stood up as their eyes flashed red, regardless of any apparent injury they may have sustained. Furry looked on in horror, frozen in his chair as all of his governors revealed themselves as cyborgs. All at once they turned towards Bulma with angry expressions.
"I think it's too late for that, go Goku!" Verto urged. Goku didn't waste another second and phased out along with Bulma.
"Guards, protect your king!" Verto shouted. A half-dozen or so guards pulled the frightened King from his chair and ushered him away from the table while the governor-cyborgs were distracted. Satan backed up a step from the table, lowering into his fighting stance, watching for any movement. Verto phased out and reappeared in front of Mr. Satan with a very business-like expression.
"You sure you want a piece of them?" he asked Satan casually.
"Oh, I do, but I want a piece of that guy first!" Satan declared, pointing at Wheelo.
"Have at it, champ. I'll handle the rest," Verto said with all confidence.
Wheelo laughed, "You've already failed kid, the broadcast was cut before Lieutenant Pepper's words were even spoken! What could you possibly gain from fighting us right now?"
"The satisfaction of cutting your head off again, for one," Verto sneered.
"I think you've got bigger concerns right now. Cyborgs, kill King Furry!" Wheelo ordered.
All at once, every cyborg in the room turned and ran towards a cornered King Furry and his assortment of guards. The three in front, including what was Governor Decker, had just reached the first line of defense when all of them were skewered by a golden energy blade. The remaining cyborgs turned in surprise as Verto's Ki Sword ripped through the tops of the first three and eviscerated them. They collapsed into piles of metal parts, covered in human skin, revealing the truth completely to King Furry.
"I don't know how many of these clunkers you have with you Wheelo, but I'm guessing not enough," Verto taunted.
"Thank you so much son, I knew you were a hero!" Furry said behind his line of guards who nodded in approval.
Verto resisted the urge to roll his eyes, "We're not out of it yet. I'm just glad you are not one of them. I got a little worried when we got your coded message the other day."
Furry looked perplexed, "What coded message?"
Verto's eyes widened again before he glared at Wheelo. Wheelo's grin still hadn't wavered as the doors opened and dozens more cyborgs rushed in one by one, all running at Verto and the cornered King. Damnit, he sent the coded message.
"Keep him back!" Verto shouted at the guards, who didn't dare say no. His hair flashed gold and the room lit up as he turned Super Saiyan and his other hand ignited a second golden blade. King Furry and his guards were dumbfounded by the Saiyan as the two blades of rapidly moving light zipped and ripped through cyborg after cyborg, covering the floor in spare parts that used to be people.
As the parade of activity continued, Mr. Satan and Wheelo stared each other down, and the cyborgs all ignored them as they flowed in almost nonstop to attack the King. Satan made the first move and attacked, leaping into the fray with his fist outstretched. He connected and Wheelo was rammed into the wall, denting it with his metal head.
"You like that one? There's more where that came from!" Satan yelled as he rushed in and followed it up with a barrage of rapid-fire punches to every bit of Wheelo's torso and head. They all landed as Satan kept up the attack, forcing Wheelo's body deeper into the wall as it cracked and crumbled around him. Satan's last punch was directed at Wheelo's face and was so strong that his head completely spun around. Satan backed off at that point and caught his breath as he had held nothing back. After a moment while random small parts flew through the air behind him, Satan noticed Wheelo's arms fidgeting.
"You gotta be kidding me!" Satan exclaimed.
Wheelo sat up and spoke despite his face turned the other direction, "I admit, this is embarrassing for me too. This body is supposed to be superior to the likes of you, but I suppose adjustments can be made later." He pulled both arms up and strained as he turned his head back around, in which metal began grinding together and sparking at his neckline while this happened.
Satan cringed in surprise, "You are one freaky robot!"
"And you talk too much, but we all have our faults," Wheelo said as he made sure his head was on straight.
Satan held up his hand and braced his with his other as he charged a bright blue energy blast, "That's enough out of you! Say your prayers!" Wheelo's eyes narrowed and he suddenly phased out. Satan didn't have time to react before he was thrown into the opposite wall as Wheelo's hand clasped around his throat and tightened as he lifted up. Satan gagged as he couldn't breathe while Wheelo had him pinned to the wall.
"A noble effort, World Champion, but even your strength is fruitless against my science!" Wheelo proclaimed as he squeezed harder on Satan's throat. Satan struggled to punch and kick at Wheelo and even connected a few times, but it didn't change his predicament.
Wheelo chuckled, "I have waited such a long time to be able to do this! How long you might be asking yourself? Far too long if you ask me." His laughter ended abruptly when his neck was pierced by a golden energy blade and his head fell backwards. Wheelo's body collapsed along with Satan, who struggled to catch his breath.
Verto stood over Wheelo's head with one Ki Sword still active, "I've waited for about an hour to do that. About fifty-nine minutes too long if you ask me."
Wheelo grumbled as his head flipped upside down and rolled to the side, "No one did ask you, ugh."
Satan continued to cough and choke a bit as he recovered and was able to look around the room. There were piles of cyborg parts wrapped in various clothing everywhere, and three of King Furry's guards were down, but the king himself was still alive in the corner with the rest of them.
"You alright champ?" Verto asked as he helped Mr. Satan to his feet.
"Geez kid, you sure did a number on that bunch of losers," Satan claimed as he looked around.
Wheelo laughed again despite having no body and his garbled voice was beginning to warp slightly, "Too bad you failed to consider something."
Verto scowled, "And what was that?" The answer came when a high-pitched sound pierced their ears, accompanied the large pile of cyborg parts turning bright red.
"Oh no!" Satan shouted as he covered his eyes.
There was a very sudden whoosh and then a distinct explosion, but it took Satan a moment to figure out that he was now floating outside, with Verto holding onto the back of his torn suit. Ahead of him, the capitol building blew apart in a huge explosion, which had thrown burning pieces of the building into the crowd. The entire building was caught in the blast zone, which also spread into the crowd of people outside, some of which burned alive instantly.
"Verto?! How did you get here just now? Where is the King? What happened?!" Piccolo shouted directly behind them.
Satan blinked in realization and concentrated his energy to hover in the air on his own, "Was that Goku's teleportation trick?"
Verto removed the two fingers from his forehead in disgust, "I could only save one."
