I wish I owned DBZ, but I don't. I own DVD's and tapes, but it just isn't the same. Nor do I own any legal imprinting of whatever theme I'm using, such as a crossover with another anime, movie or TV series. Did I think it up? Yes. Was I the first to think it up? Probably not, but I digress. I also don't own the rights to any of the music pieces you see selected, just the merchandise, such a shame. The artists that created them are geniuses and we all must bow to them.
Chapter 32: Spies
Wheelo's jaw slipped in astonishment as his daughter walked towards him and the rest of the villainous group with determination. Her brunette hair was tied back and swinging just like it used to. Her age and appearance were exactly as he remembered, except for her eyes.
"Kati? How are you alive?" Wheelo exclaimed in shock. He held his arms out as if to offer a hug, to which she approached as if she was going to accept. Just when they would have made contact though, Kati plunged her fist into his torso, breaking the robotic shell as it went right them him. Wheelo gasped as his body sparked from the damage that had been dealt. All at once the soldiers lifted their weapons to aim at Kati as she pulled back, something she made note of. Wheelo slumped to the ground as if in pain while his metallic torso continued to spark before it dripped oil.
Kati eyed Torev and Kaon to her left, and then Frost himself before her, and then Jessica to her right, before dropping to one knee, "Sorry about that, Lord Frost."
"At ease men," Frost ordered, "So, Kati is it? You look ordinary, but clearly you are not. Your father said you were gifted, but I was not expecting this. I cannot even sense your presence."
"You won't be able to, it's an android," Torev interjected.
Frost glanced at him, "Really? An artificial being? But this is not like one of your cyborgs doctor."
Kati stood up, "No sir, this body is not the same as the humans he has turned or his drones. This model is based on a different scientist named Gero that he poached technology from. Bulma, Vegeta's wife, built it for me after I lost my human body."
Frost turned his head, "Interesting, how did you survive then before your mind was put into this body?"
Kati sighed as she glared at her father but then turned to Frost, "As you probably know, my father's human body was also destroyed, but he found a way to transfer his mind to others before that. He used my body to do it before so he could use my shapeshifting ability. I was stuffed into a brain-filled jar and kept alive by his disgusting assistant Kochin for experimentation so he could perfect this science."
Wheelo struggled but was able to get to his feet, "After you betrayed me!"
Kati's head snapped towards him, "Who betrayed who, Daddy? You have only ever used me! You let that bitch Ranso control me and you used me to get what you wanted. When I wouldn't do it anymore, you took my body. In the aftermath of the South City lab going up in smoke, Bulma rescued the jar containing my consciousness and was able to copy Gero's android creation using Android Eighteen as a base to go off of, but entirely mechanical like Android Sixteen. She was successful, but the transfer was painful, and she and the program Kain deemed that I was too dangerous to be let out into the world again, so she locked me away in her secret little ship. Only when that Kochin clone damaged it was I able to get out of there before they launched into space. Looks like I was replaced with a piss poor imitation." Jessica quivered when Kati glared at her, realizing that they did indeed resemble each other to an extent.
"My my, Doctor, your daughter has quite the temperament to go with this upgraded body. I wonder, is it superior to all your other cyborg models, including this one?" Frost pondered.
Kati's eyes narrowed before she promptly phased out. Wheelo could barely react before her arm struck the bottom of his chin, and a distinct sound of metal breaking echoed as his head fell clean off. It hadn't even hit the ground before Kati backflipped and held out her palm, charging an energy blast and firing. Wheelo's eyes could only show a brief moment of shock before the blast overwhelmed his robotic body and vaporized it. All that was left was a noticeable burn mark and a few loose, damaged bolts.
"Very nice, my dear. You take directives well, and your skills appear to be far beyond a normal human's. So, now what will happen?" Frost asked. All at once, his soldiers stepped forward, aiming their weapons again.
Kati stood still, "You can tell your men to stand down. I'm not here as an enemy, and I wouldn't have any hope of defeating any of you anyway. In fact, I wish to join you."
Frost looked amused, "Really? You freely admitted to being indebted to Vegeta's wife just now for saving your life. How do I know that you are not attempting to use your position as the doctor's daughter to infiltrate us?"
Kati frowned, "I suppose you don't. What do I have to do to prove myself?"
Frost blinked sharply, not expecting that answer, "Well, I suppose there are a lot of things you could do. Let's us start simply, what are your intentions with this new life you've been given, now that you've clearly taken revenge on your father."
Kati's expression didn't change, "All I did was destroy one of his drones. It's easily replaceable. I'm not."
Frost grinned, "I see. So, what do you think of this one here?"
Kati followed his gaze to Jessica momentarily, "I think you have a double agent in the room. She's switched sides at the behest of Bulma herself."
Jessica's face became pale before filling with anger, "No I didn't!"
Kati ignored her, "There's a very good reason why she only brought back six of the Dragon Balls. They kept the last one on the ship and allowed her to leave in the chaos."
Frost frowned, "Is that right? Well that's unfortunate."
"Wait Lord Frost, she's obviously lying! I brought you those Dragon things!" Jessica argued.
Kati rolled her eyes, "Yes, because you were told to go ahead and do it, then spy on Lord Frost and contact Bulma with news when nobody is looking. It isn't that hard to comprehend. You knew there were seven of them when you were snooping around the lab I was stuck in!"
The color drained out of Jessica's face again, "That was you?"
"Hmmm, such a predicament. Shall I dispose of them both my lord, just in case?" Bojack offered suddenly, offering his disturbing smile. Frost looked thoughtful and was about to make a decision when Kaon suddenly stepped between them.
"You can just hold off big guy, I'm sure you've got other things more worthwhile to attend to. I'll take the little girl for a little lady time while you decide what to do with the doctor's daughter. Come Jessica, we'll go freshen up for dinner. I'm absolutely famished," Kaon said, offering a hand to the frightened human.
Jessica nervously took it and the two then walked to the nearest side corridor, with Kaon holding her closely while turning and flashing a sly smile. Torev huffed slightly and rolled his eyes as he turned on his foot and went the other way, only to stop and lean against a pillar with his arms folded. Soren remained silent before snapping his fingers and disappearing in a flash of light, while Bojack simply walked towards the exit. Once Kaon and Jessica were out of sight, Frost set his attention on Kati.
"Consider yourself lucky, my dear. I honestly could not tell which of you was lying at first, even if Kaon could. Aside from potential combat prowess, what else do you bring to the table?" Frost asked.
"I am quite familiar with my father's technology, and was his assistant, for awhile," Kati said with a hint of annoyance.
Frost smiled, "Well, let's put that to the test then. You can keep an eye on your father for me. Work with him on any of his projects since he's lost another clone, but you will report to me whenever I wish it, or if you find something... nefarious. Is that understood?"
Kati bowed, "Yes, Lord Frost. I won't let you down."
"See that you don't. I will leave how you dress up to you, but I expect more professional attire. Pay a visit to the quartermaster to find something suitable. Take the night to adjust to your new whereabouts." Kati nodded and turned to leave, casting one more eye at Torev before she did. Torev more or less ignored her as he shook his head.
Frost glanced at him with amusement, "I believe that was a successful first day. What do you think, Lord Torev?"
"I think I need a drink," Torev said as he moved to the door behind him.
"By all means, you've earned a respite. I will inform the Kihon Corps that your work begins tomorrow," Frost said as he floated back up to his chair and sat down.
Torev paused briefly before stepping into the corridor, This alliance is more fucked up than the one with the Zerg.
Twenty minutes later, Torev sat at the alien bar that was in Frost's castle. It had converted from the lounge so to speak when it landed but wasn't that different except the windows were no longer showing only empty space outside. He had sampled several drinks thus far but had yet to find one satisfactory. Part of the problem was his Saiyan biology being more than a little resistant to the effects of alcohol, which made for a high tolerance. The other issue was that the alien drinks seemed much more diluted, since many soldiers were expected to keep sober. He grumbled slightly as he shoved a glass aside in slight frustration. Behind him, Kati Cash entered, sporting a uniform this time that was not as tight around the skin. It bore a slight resemblance to the armor of the soldiers, but also came with a lab coat. Torev largely ignored her presence as he didn't detect it, but he did cast an annoyed look in her direction when she dared sit at the bar next to him. Neither of them said anything for a moment as Torev did nothing more than slam down a few more shots of blue fluid before calling for more.
"You're older than I remember," Kati said first.
"We don't know each other, you should probably keep it that way," Torev replied coolly as he lifted the glass back to his lips.
"What is this then? Some sort of secret covert operation? Or is this who you really are?" Kati said with an obvious angry tone.
Torev's eyes shifted towards her for a moment, "Do you have a death wish or something? I said that we have never met, be glad you survived getting in the door, android."
"Don't give me that shit! I saw your thoughts and memories long ago. I know you are not really like this, Verto!" The bartender's eyes widened as he ducked down out of view while multiple aliens quickly left the room. Torev's head popped a single vein for a moment before he calmly set his glass down and finally looked at Kati as his eyes glowed red for a moment.
"Do not call me by that name again, ever. I am not him, and I never will be. If you truly did see his memories, then you would know who I really am. And trust me, I am not someone to screw with," Torev warned. Kati felt a distinct shiver of fear run up her spine as her breath caught in her throat, as if the person in front of her had his hands around her neck and was strangling her without moving.
It's his evil counterpart. How? Kati thought in realization.
Torev noted her fear and turned back to the bar, "It's Torev, do not forget it."
"And, your sister is it?" Kati dared ask.
Torev scoffed, "She's not anyone's sister, don't be getting any weird ideas."
"I don't get it, how can you be here?" Kati asked.
Torev scowled, "How doesn't matter, though you can partially thank your father for his help in that endeavor. What I don't understand is how you have more of my doppelganger's memories than I do. What was he to you?"
Kati bit her lip slightly, "I tried to kill him, and his whole family. And despite that he still saved my life and defended me against my father's wishes. I owe him."
Torev rolled his eyes, "Cool story, I might even listen to the whole thing someday about how Daddy was mean to you. Still doesn't explain much of how you could have memories of him."
Kati's face clenched up in slight anger, "Prick. I was special and could shapeshift into anyone I wanted. I was able to swap places with Bulma and fool them for a while until I could make my move, but I got careless."
"Yes I heard you earlier. I doubt you were able to fool anything, but please, continue the joke," Torev muttered.
Kati scowled heavily, "When I touched people to gain their form, I also gained their memories and some of their likeness. That's how I know about you."
Torev's eyebrow went up, "Interesting, can you still do that?"
"Of course not!"
"Good, you've just bought another two minutes of life, go do something useful with it," Torev said simply as he turned around again.
Kati growled with frustration, "You know, you don't have to be such an asshole."
Torev finally smirked, "Hey you came here, what did you expect, a welcome wagon? Maybe a hug? You're lucky you managed to fool Frost so far, I don't suggest you try your luck."
"Fool Frost? What do you mean?" Kati asked, slightly taken aback.
Torev shook his head before shooing the fearful bartender away and lowering his voice, "I'm not as dumb as my counterpart, you know. You took advantage of that situation well, I would've done something similar, but you're the real double agent in this place, not that spy girl Wheelo sent out. If your story is even half true, then they would not have gifted you an android body for nothing."
Kati felt a hint of panic, "Why would you think that?"
Torev grinned, I might as well have some fun with this one.
He turned towards her again, "Don't waver now girl, it's not very convincing when you do."
Kati noted the glimmer in his eye, "Okay, what can I do for you then? It better not be something nasty."
Torev rolled his eyes again, "Please, I'm taken, and I'm not interested in a robot. I know you're not going to cooperate with Frost or Wheelo, and I don't particularly care, just stay out of my way. With you undermining them, they trust each other less and my goals have a better chance of getting accomplished. Tell you what, you can spy on both of them for me."
Kati's eyes widened for a second, "What?!"
Torev held a finger to his lips, "I suggest you keep your voice down. Or else I could just turn you over now, that sure wouldn't get you very far would it?"
Kati's eyes fell for a second, "Fine." She then got up and turned to leave, as Torev also spun and reached for another drink.
Kati looked back at him, "Frost is having me report to him at least once a day. How often should I report to you?"
Torev sipped down another drink, "Once in a blue moon would be fine."
Kati's lip twitched in renewed frustration, "You know, you're right. You are nothing like your counterpart; at least he's a man."
Torev smirked again, "Keep talking shit and you won't be around to learn your place." Kati snorted at this and left the bar area entirely. Torev continued sipping drinks, until a noticeable growl came from his midsection.
"Barkeep, what passes for food in here?" Torev asked.
"I can get you anything you wish, my lord," the bartender claimed.
"Then you better start looking over the Earth's resources for food supplies, because I'm about to eat all of yours," Torev claimed. The bartender froze in surprise before bowing and running off.
Torev watched him go and shook his head, This was so much easier when I didn't need food to survive, but there is a certain pleasure in it versus the tasteless gorging of souls and flashes of memory that came with it. I suppose having a body again has its pros and cons. Beats living in that hellish dimension.
"Where are we going, miss?" Jessica asked nervously. Kaon had led her far into the base to the room she and Torev had used initially. They had gone the long way around so that Kaon could make sure that no one would be there.
Kaon chuckled slightly as she escorted her by the arm, "We're just going to get ready for dinner my dear. You don't want to disappoint Doctor Cash or Lord Frost by showing up without cleaning yourself first." That didn't soothe Jessica at all as she could see definitive fangs behind Kaon's smile, but she chose not to answer. Kaon led her to a tall and wide door that opened at the press of a button and they went in. It was a bedroom of some kind that featured a broken bed, torn sheets and random pieces of debris and clothing thrown about the place. Jessica's nose wrinkled slightly at the smell of the room, like someone had been very busy not long ago.
"What happened in here?" she dared ask as the door closed behind them.
"Oh that, well, Lord Torev and I had a little fun. Guess we forgot to clean up after ourselves, too. Well that's okay, I can take care of that little hassle right now," Kaon said as her skin glowed with red and purple waves of energy. Jessica was barely able to turn towards her before a rush of flames washed over her and covered the room in heat. In barely a second, her body was covered in flames as it was literally cooked by the heat that Kaon's energy gave off, and she collapsed. The rest of the room fared no better, wiping out all traces of living space, life and civilization in the process, leaving only a charred floor and Jessica's prone body, which was not moving any longer. Kaon grinned as she leaned down and grabbed the charred cadaver's left leg, pulling it off at the knee with ease.
"Sorry about that dear, but a girl's gotta eat," she said as she sat down and held the leg to her lips before taking a bite out of it.
She chewed on it for a moment before her nose wrinkled slightly, "Really should have slow cooked this one, meat is already dry. I wonder if Frost has a human sized crock-pot." She continued munching on the charred flesh, even as the shadows began to move oddly on the opposite wall, where the bed frame used to be.
Kaon paused for a moment, "Hm, and what do you want?"
The shadow slowly became the shape of a person momentarily, but did not reveal itself, "You failed, Kaon."
Kaon kept eating, "How so? I got what I wanted, you got what you wanted. I'm not seeing the failure there."
"You were supposed to force the entity into the boy's body so it could completely take it over and thus his power. Instead, you made a clone, and a poor incomplete one at that. Additionally, you allowed the boy's innate power to awaken for a brief moment before Frost killed him," the shadow remarked.
Kaon huffed slightly and put the half-eaten leg down, "Blame that disgusting witch then, she put a spell on him that prevents possession. I can only guess that she also had something to do with his power being awakened. Well, not our problem now."
"You were careless in your pursuits. You should have anticipated what the Guardians would do to him, she is your counterpart after all," the shadow reminded.
Kaon rolled her eyes, "Bite me. I still made a powerful soldier, and pretty good in bed too."
The shadow seemed unimpressed, "How long do you think you can keep him wrapped around your finger? You can't just feed him demon energy over and over and hope that he follows your every command at the promise of an intimate encounter. In addition, that isn't going to awaken any dormant power you think he might have. His spirit does not have the same pre-disposition as the boy's did, it will not hold for long in battle. Once his added power fades, he reverts to being a normal Saiyan hybrid, and shows no signs of being anything more. As soon as Frost realizes that, he will be eliminated. Face it, you've failed."
Kaon grimaced, "You shouldn't underestimate him. You'd think you would know that by now, but I guess you'll have to learn the hard way. I wasn't just sleeping all that time, I was able to take notes, and Saiyans are very receptive to demon energy given enough time and patience. My Torev will be unstoppable once he fully develops, and will be your best asset, you'll see."
The shadow snorted, "Very well, I suppose I can let this little joke continue, if only to see the look on your face. In fact, let's take advantage of this mishap. We may not have the boy's power, but we do have his DNA. So let loose demon, mate with him as much as possible. I know you won't have any trouble following that order."
Kaon looked surprised before scowling, "Oh I will, but it won't be on any order from you."
"You will obey!" the shadow ordered as a blackened and gloved hand lifted off of the wall and into the air. It glowed with strange glyphs for a moment before the black choker around Kaon's neck glowed red and tightened around her throat. She gasped and pulled at it as her body lifted into the air and her feet kicked uncontrollably, to no avail. The black hand then shifted to the side and Kaon was flung into the wall, where she remained, floating against it.
"Argh, fuck off!" she cried out.
The shadow did not let up, "You will take that overcharged sexual appetite of yours and put it to good use. I want you to make a child with that clone, a child that you will then give to me to raise. We need a reliable force to combat the coming darkness and that poor excuse for a warrior will not do. You barely do, so you will do your duty and procreate one! If you are able to do this, then perhaps you still have a use to me. If not, well, I'll let you figure out the consequences."
Kaon continued to struggle against the invisible grasp of the shadow, "I won't!" The shadow's hand turned, and all at once Kaon's insides felt like they were being slowly crushed. Noticeable denting appeared around her black outfit, as if she were being held by a gigantic hand.
"Yes, you will. Don't forget who plucked you out of that void before you were swallowed by the darkness. I have many agents, and I will not mourn the loss of a simple half-demon whore with a penchant for fire. You will do this, or see that beloved clone die at your feet, slowly," the shadow warned. Its hand suddenly pulled back, and Kaon dropped to the floor as the choker around her neck stopped glowing and the pain subsided.
"Eat a dick!" she shouted in defiance.
A small red lipped smile briefly came into view on the shadow's head, "I believe that is your territory, I suggest you get to it." The shadow then faded, leaving Kaon by herself on the ground. There she sat for some time, pondering what to do. She completely lost track of time as she replayed what had happened in her head over and over.
I'm right, he'll see. I'll make Torev the strongest being of all time! And I'll do it my way, no matter what that sick bastard wants. He thinks he's so clever playing us all against each other while getting rid of the warriors here so there's maximum chaos. They aren't even a threat to him, not yet anyway. If he would just let me torch the Kai we could have ended all of this already, but Soren isn't going to let me do that, and I suppose I wouldn't have gotten Torev back if he had. Well, his idea of having a child has merit, but he'll regret his promise to take it away from me. I'll have to figure a way out of this, so Torev and I can conquer everything. The door opened, releasing a bellow of smoke into the hall as Torev stepped in, waving a hand over his face in disgust.
"I see you outdid yourself again. Lose your appetite for once?" he asked as he stepped over what was left of Jessica.
Kaon glanced at him briefly, but sighed, "Yeah, meat was a little salty."
Torev offered a hand out to her, before noticing a small tear on the edge of her face, "What's wrong? You were itching to go again a little while ago."
Kaon looked away, "I'm not in the mood. Maybe your brooding is rubbing off on me already."
Torev rolled his eyes, "Maybe next time don't turn the room into charcoal and you won't be turned off. Frost gave us the penthouse, so you can't complain about that. I bet there's a hot tub."
Kaon huffed slightly and smirked, "Not for long there isn't." Torev smirked back and the two quickly came together and kissed passionately. Kaon's body glowed purple again briefly before the energy passed over to Torev for a moment and faded. When they came apart, Kaon felt a rush of weakness, while Torev displayed more than a little excitement past a rush of energy. He scooped Kaon up and headed out the door with her in his arms, grinning all the way. She smiled at this and rested her head on his arm, but in the back of her mind, she was distracted as he briskly strolled through the halls towards their destination.
They'll see, they'll all see. My Torev will wipe them all out. I just need more time.

WDG: Well, at least her parents are free, right? ... Right?
VB: You just had to ask didn't you?
