Chapter 6
"And the winner is…James" said Jessie handing James five dollars alongside Jack and Leo as they watched Melody crash her virtual car. The rangers had signed up for the Driver's Ed course at School and all have proven themselves successful at Driving…except Melody, and the other rangers had decided to bet on which she would crash into next . "The simulator was set for town down Madison" said Jack looking at the screen in confusion "how did you crash into the Capital building?". "Ugh" said Melody as they left the school later on in the day "that's the fourth time I failed the simulated driving test this week". "You'll get you just need to relax" said Jessie putting a hand on her childhood friend. Melody turned to give Jessie a small smile before signing "I'm gonna try again next week and if I fail again, I quit and one of you can just drive me around" she said looking at her friends…who all in turn slowly back away. At the dark fortress Facilier presented a new plan to Maleficent. "Brains and brawn haven't lived up to their ends of the deal" he began summoning a dark essence with his cane "but maybe instead of out smarting or pulverising the rangers we could simply dry leaving them in the dust and this fast runner knows every dirty trick in the book to do just that" he declared. Maleficent soon blasted purple lightning at the essence and it soon transformed into a creature that wore green armour resembling a race car. "Hahaha I'm back baby" the creature laughed arrogantly "when's the race". "Maleficent may I introduce Ghoul-racer" said Facilier with a grand flourish "with the speed and ruthlessness of Chick hicks he's gonna leave the Rangers in tears". The rangers were relaxing at the park, Jessie still trying to cheer Melody up. "It's not a big deal if you can't drive" She said lying next to blue ranger in the grass as they watched James and Leo chase Jack across the park for taking trying to copy off their math homework. "Yeah but still" said Melody "Just about everyone our age drives now, I'll look like a freak if I can't". "And do you know what I say to that…" said Jessie jumping to her feet and raised a fist in the air "FREAK POWER". Suddenly the sound of engine roaring filled the air as Ghoul-racer came zooming in to the park in a green blur with a squad of Goblins. "Power Rangers come and face me" Ghoul-racer called in challenge. "Great as If I don't have enough problems with driving" said Melody as the boys re-joined the girls "now I have to deal with a monster CAR". "Disney Power, Ranger Power" the rangers cried donning their Ranger forms. Melody and Jessie summoned their trident and staff and soon engaged Ghoul-racer who fought with a spear with a tyre on top while the boys had their hands full with the goblins. "All right girlies let's see how you keep up with this" said Ghoul-racer before transforming into a green race car and ploughed his way through the two rangers. "Ugh seriously" said Melody in frustration "what is with all this car trouble I'm having". "You ain't seen trouble yet missy" said Ghoul-racer resuming his monster form "but your about to race for glory" he cried shooting a blast of green energy at Jessie transforming her into a racing trophy. "Jessie" cried Melody in shock reaching for the trophy only for Ghoul-racer to snatch it at the last second. "You want Pinkie back baby blue" he mocked "then meet outside of town at dawn tomorrow for a race" he challenged before resuming his car form and drove off. "He took Jessie" said Melody dropping to her knees and demorphed "this is all my fault" she cried. " Don't worry" said Leo helping her up "we'll get her back and puncture that freak's tires" he promised leading her out of the park. James made to follow them before something got his eye in the grass. Maleficent was pleased with the monsters prize. "You've done well Ghoul-racer" she said examining the trophy with a smile before handing it back to him "but one is not enough I want all the rangers dealt with". "And you'll get them boss lady there ain't no way that blue fish can outrace me" the car monster laughed. Back at the tower the remaining Rangers filled Yen Sid in on what had happened to their friend. "Who was that speed freak and how are we going to save Jessie" said Melody collapsing into a chair. "This creature Ghoul-racer was once called Chick Hick's" Yen Sid explained as the magic mirror showed an image of what seemed to be a sentient green race car "a racer shamed for his dishonourable tactics and unsportsmanlike actions". "Wait there where living Vehicles in your world" said Jack in shock. "Yes" said Yen Sid before turning his attention back to Melody "and this has now challenged you to a race to save your friend". "But even if I could drive I have nothing to race with" said Melody in despair as James stepped forward. "I found this in the park" he explained placing a glowing white crystal on the desk. "One of the lost heroes" said Yen Sid quickly picking it up and let his magic examine it. "We are in luck Rangers" said Yen Sid "this essence is that of another living vehicle: Lightning McQueen" he explained as the mirror showed a younger looking red race car competing against Chick Hicks. "The power of this young racer may give us what we need" he declared extending his hand as the essence soon began to glow gold before sending as shroud of golden mist across the room and once it passed the ranger saw… "Motorbikes" the boys all cried in glee checking them out. There were five bikes before each one the rangers colour and resembling their ranger motifs. "These are the Disney Racers" said Yen Sid "are you ready for the upcoming race Melody?" he questioned. "Born ready" said Melody narrowing her eyes. At the crack of dawn the blue ranger and Ghoul-racer met outside of Madison. "I wasn't sure you'd come" laughed Ghoul-racer. "No way I was ever gonna miss the chance to out ride you" said Melody "now where's Jessie". Ghoul-racer snapped his finger and a table with Jessie in her trophy form appeared. "First one to make it to make it around the track and back wins, beat me and she goes back to normal" said Ghoul-racer "lose and you end up just like her". "Not gonna happen" said Melody "Disney Racer ready" she cried summoning her new bike as Ghoul-racer turned into his car form. The two began their race weaving through the track and dodging anything that came through their way. "I'm doing it I'm driving" thought Melody in disbelief "this is for you Jessie". The finish line soon came in to view as they were neck-in-neck, when suddenly Ghoul-racer began to trying to ram into the blue ranger, "What the" she cried as he tried again, only this time she was ready and summoned her trident and rammed it into his tyre causing him spin out of control and into a tree. As soon as Melody crossed the finish line Jessie as returned to human form and the blue ranger rode straight to her friend. "Your all right" she cried embracing her friend who got a good look at her bike. "Woah where did this beauty come from?" she questioned. "I'll tell you all about it later" said Melody as the other Rangers soon caught up with them when suddenly Ghoul-racer grew to giant form "Race is just getting started Rangers" he roared. "Disney Force megazord online" the Rangers cried as they formed the megazord only to find Ghoul-racer to fast form them to hit. "Rangers the power of Lighting McQueen has more than one surprise in store use it now" Yen Sid communed with them. "Disney Force megazord: Storm Racer" the rangers cried as on the feet of the Megazord red attachments with flame detail and wheels appeared. "Final Strike" cried the Rangers as they struck Ghoul-racer in a burst of speed and flame. "Ah No" cried Ghoul Racer as he exploded. The next day Melody was getting ready for her driving simulation. "You got this girl" said Jessie. "Of course I do, I got a new way to handle: pretend I'm racing a monster to save my best friend" Melody replied entering the class room leaving Jessie speechless as the boys burst out laughing.
