Chapter 8
At the tower Yen Sid was having the rangers go through a training exercise. "The goal is to let one guide the others" said Yen Sid as James, Melody, Jessie and Jack each had a blind fold and Leo was to lead them the safe way through the hedge maze "Trust in Leo to be your eyes and Leo you in turn must trust yourself" he said before turning to the hourglass which showed that they had not much time left. "All right guys this way" said Leo as he went in to one direction but didn't notice Jack go into another and got caught in one of the traps Yen Sid had set up. This repeated with each of the other Rangers until finally when Leo got to the end of the maze did he realise he was the only Ranger left. Yen Sid signed before waving his hand causing the maze to disappear and the Rangers to be freed from the traps. "Leo a word please" steeping back into the tower as the sheepish Red Ranger followed. At the dark fortress Facilier had a new plan to show Maleficent. "In order to stop the Rangers we gotta use the natural enemy of all teenagers: an authority figure" he declared using his cane to summon a dark essence "and this is just the right one of our many friends from the other side to be said figure". Maleficent blasted the essence with her magic lightning and it soon turned in to an overweight wolf beast dressed in a police officer outfit and a sword at its waist. "You've met the Sherriff of Nottingham" said Facilier "now meet Werecop". He turned to the new monster "you ready to enforce the law?" he asked. "They call me a scoundrel But I do my job" laughed Werecop. Back at the tower Leo stood before Yen Sid. "So how'd we do?" he asked nervously. "Leo you did not keep an eye on your team, allowing them to wander astray" said Yen Sid "As Leader your role is not only to lead ahead, but to look back and keep the ones counting on you within your sight and mind at all times". "I know Master Yen Sid" Leo said respectively "I've just never had to lead a team before, this is new territory for me". "I understand that, leading is not an easy role to fill" said Yen Sid "even Simba faced troubles when he took up his throne, you must trust in yourself and your team". At that moment the mirror began to glow and the two men in room knew what that meant: trouble. The two went to the mirror as the other Rangers soon entered the room, and they could all see Werecop and a squad of Goblins alongside Gaston and Facilier attacking the people of Madison. "You're all under arrest" said Werecop "for the crime of resisting the Disney Villain revolution" he declared swinging his sword causing chains to bind several people together. "Uh last time I checked Police don't work with creeps like Gaston and Facilier" said Jessie "who's the furry Po-Po?". "That is the Sherriff of Nottingham" said Yen Sid "the corrupt Lawman of Nottingham who brought shame to his profession by abusing his power to terrorize the people he had sworn to protect and aided his master Prince John in driving the people to poverty". "Let's go guys" said Leo as the Rangers summoned their Morphers "Disney Power, Ranger Power ha" they cried assuming their Ranger forms and immediately headed into town to confront the enemy. "That's it boys" said Werecop as they Goblins dragged their hostages into the parking lot they had taken over to serve as a makeshift prison "spread the word: there's a new sheriff in town". "I hate to break it to you" said Leo as he and the other rangers arrived "but this town's already got some people to keep the peace". "Ah so these are the power rangers" said Werecop readying his sword "can't say I see what all the fuss is about". "Destroy them" Gaston roared drawing his sword and ran straight at Leo who countered with the sword of kings. Jessie and Facilier soon found themselves engaged in a staff vs cane duel. "Don't you ever know when to give up Pinkie pie?" laughed the voodoo doctor. "Oh you did NOT just call me that" growled Jessie. James and Jack were fighting against the goblins, displaying the strength of an ape and the speed of a sparrow, while Melody quietly helped the villains hostages escape. As Leo was battling with Gaston he soon noticed from the corner of his eye that Werecop was slowly sneaking up on James with his sword poised to strike his back. "James lookout" he screamed breaking off from Gaston and threw his sword directly at Werecop causing him to fall back before he could attack. "Thanks man" said James as Leo joined his side and picked his sword back of the ground. "Just doing what any leader would" said Leo as he and James raised their weapons "and looking out for my team". "You're both under arrest" yelled Werecop running at them only for the two Rangers to jump into the air and hit him with strikes of black and red energy. "Aw no" cried Werecop as he exploded in a green flame. "Let's get out here" said Facilier only to see Gaston had not moved an inch. "I thought your plan would fail" said Gaston with an obnoxiously smug grin "so I planned a head in advance" he declared arrogantly raising his sword, as its diamond hilt glowed red and from the ground behind him did something appear. "Behold, the Gaston Zord" he shouted as he jumped into his Zord's cockpit. The Zord itself was a colossal red bot with a silver face which was designed to look exactly like Gaston's. "Woah" said Jack "where did that come from". "I don't know" said Jessie "but I do know where it's headed: the scrapheap" she declared as the Rangers summoned their own Zord's. "Disney Force Megazord ready" the Rangers cried as the two giant robots faced off. "Battle mode ready" said Gaston as his Zord summoned a giant battle axe. "Twin Blades" said the Rangers as the Megazord soon locked blades with the Gaston Zord. "Shoulder cannons fire" Gaston declared as cannons rose up from his Zord's shoulders and began firing blasts of fiery red energy at the Megazord. The Megazord was soon knocked back "we can't give up" said Leo, when suddenly a glowing white essence floated before the Megazord. "Leo you're drive to protect your team and leadership, has awoken the essence of one of the lost heroes" said Yen Sid telepathically "It is the Great Prince of the forest, a noble and majestic creature who protected the animals of his forest home, call onto his power and you may prevail". "Great Prince of the forest" whispered Leo "please, help us". The essence soon transformed into a magnificent Deer Zord that was the colour of Autumn leaves and had antlers that shone like pure gold. "It's beautiful" whispered Melody in awe and wonder. Deer Zord combine" the Rangers yelled as the Zord attached itself onto the Dolphin Zord as a crossbow. "Arrow of Protection fire" the Rangers cried as an arrow made of golden light blasted the Gaston Zord into smithereens. "You'll pay for this Rangers" cried Gaston as he ejected out before the Zord was destroyed. Back at the Tower Yen Sid was pleased. "You've done well Leo" he told the Red Ranger "you're starting to understand what it truly means to lead, and another lost hero has been saved and will aid in our battle with Maleficent know" he said proudly as Leo smiled. At the Dark Fortress Maleficent was not in such a proud mood as she glared at her generals. "Brains, brawn, speed and authority" she listed the qualities that made up her Generals failed plans "ALL HAVE FAILED ME" she roared before a thought occurred to her. Gaston and Facilier watched in confusion as a smile crossed Maleficent's face. "Perhaps" said Maleficent "it's time to try a different approach" she said smiling evilly.
