Chapter 14
The Rangers where once again in Yen Sid's maze standing at a crossroads between two adjacent path ways. They stood in a single file with their legs bound to each other's by chains, Leo stood closest to the right passage way on one end of the line and Connor on the other end of the line near the left passage. "The maze has only one exit" said Yen Sid from the outside the maze his voice heard clearly from within "you must decide which path will lead you to it". "Come on guys lets head this way" said Leo heading down the right path, only to feel the chain be pulled back slightly. "I say go this way" said Connor heading in the direction of the left path. "We go RIGHT" said Leo insistently pulling the chain in his direction. "We go LEFT" said Connor firmly pulling the chain in his direction. This continued for several minutes with the two Red Rangers pulling the other eight rangers in their respective directions…until they all fell to the ground. "Leo, Connor a word if you please" said Yen Sid as he used his magic to make the Rangers float out of the maze…and when they looked down they say that the right and left path's both lead to the same place; the exit out of the maze. Yen Sid set the Rangers down outside the maze and snapped his fingers causing both the Maze and the chain to disappear. "While myself, Leo and Connor talk the rest of you can take a break" said Yen Sid leading the two Red Rangers into the tower while the rest of the team collapsed onto the ground in exhaustion. "What was with Leo and Connor back there?" asked Jack as he lay sprawled out on the grass. "They both want to be in charge" said Traci scooting closer to James, who made no move of acknowledgement as she leaned against him. "The team only needs one leader" said Jessica as she leaned back against a tree "and we all know who that is". "Yeah" said Melody and Vanessa in unison "Its Leo/Connor" they declared before giving one another looks. Inside the Tower Yen Sid gave the Lion and Tiger powered rangers a stern look. "I understand that you both feel that you should lead the team" the wizard began "But the question is can you both learn to follow the lead of the other?" "Yen Sid I've been leading the Disney Rangers since we became a team" said Leo "And I've been a Ranger much longer then Connor". "And I've been leading the Chaos Rangers LONG before we even became Rangers" said Connor "And I'm way tougher then Leo so there". "Enough" Said Yen Sid firmly before another fight could start "we are all of us one team, one family, we share our strength; but for us to truly stand against Maleficent we must not let who the strongest is or who is better than the other cloud our minds". "The two of you both have qualities of a leader" he continued giving the red rangers a look "but you must put aside this power struggle for the team". While Yen Sid addressed his students Maleficent addressed her servants at the dark fortress. "It is time for another one of our fallen allies to join us" the mistress of evil declared summoning a new essence "and this time we will rely on a kind of power that surpasses most others one I am quite partial to myself" she declared blasting the essence with her magic. The essence soon transformed into an armoured creature with clawed hands and feet, a reptilian tail, two massive wings from its back and the face of a snarling black scaled dragon. "I am Dracul" the creature roared "what is your command Maleficent?" he questioned earning an evil smile from Maleficent. Back at the tower Leo and Connor were still discussing who should lead the team. "I've more experience as a Ranger" said Leo. "I've more experience as a leader" countered Connor. "Guys, guys, guys" said Jessica stepping in between the two Red Rangers "look if you can't figure out who can lead the team the right way, then maybe neither of you deserves to lead" she declared fixing them both a look. The two went silent as their team's newly appointed mediator words struck them both to their core. At that moment the mirror began to glow alerting them to the latest attack by Maleficent's army. Running over they saw Dracul, Gaston, Hook, Facilier and a squadron of goblins attacking down town Madison. "Whose tall dark and scaly?" asked Vanessa as Dracul shot a blast of red flames from his mouth and destroyed a car. "That is the Dark Dragon" said Yen Sid as the mirror shifted into an image of a massive black-purple scaled dragon fighting a younger red scaled dragon and an elderly purple scaled dragon "as the name may imply he was a most evil dragon who sought the extinction of the humans of Disney". "Let's go guys" said Leo and Connor in unison before giving one another a look before all the Rangers headed out of the tower. "Tremble before me humans" Dracul roared as the goblins terrorized the populace "for I am your extinction". Gaston, Facilier and Hook watched from the back as the Dragon monster attacked the town. "Why did Maleficent bring back this pompous bag of scales?" Gaston questioned as Dracul incinerated a car with a blast of dark fire. "Suppose she just wanted a family reunion" suggested Hook earning laughs from the other two villains. "Hey Smokey" said Jack as the Rangers arrived on the scene "take a chill pill" he declared before noticing the other Rangers giving him a look "what it needed to be said" he defended before the Rangers Morphed. Leo and Gaston once again found themselves locking blades "I'll hang your Helmet from my trophy case" the Hunter snarled. James and Jessica were tag teaming Facilier with their spear and flute, "Two on one don't seem fair" the Voodoo doctor protested. Jack soon found himself in another duel with Hook. "Ready to lose the other one" he taunted as the pirate Captain snarled "not this time brat" as he swung his rapier in a wild arc. While the rest of the team engaged the Goblins Connor fought against Dracul. "Human, Tiger or whatever you are" the evil Dragon growled "you will burn" he roared firing a blast of flames at the Red Chaos Ranger knocking him to the ground. "Connor" cried Leo breaking off from Gaston and leapt across the goblins and struck Dracul before he could finish off the Red Chaos Ranger. "Thanks man" said Connor getting to his feet as the two red rangers readied their swords. "You will both fall" roared Dracul as he ran at the two and they in turn ran to meet him delivering two fatal strikes with their blades. "Ahh a curse on you both" Cried Dracul as he exploded in a burst of green flame as Gaston, Facilier and Hook made their escape. Back at the tower Yen Sid addressed Leo and Connor "so have the two of you come to an understanding". "We have" said Leo before turning to Connor "we may not always see eye to eye on how some things should go". "But we can always agree" Connor finished "that stopping creeps like Gaston and them matters most" he said earning a smile from the old wizard.
