Chapter 16
The Rangers were trekking through the woods of England, searching for a powerful essence Yen Sid had sensed. "When Yen Sid said powerful did he mean like a morpher or a Zord?" asked Vanessa. "He didn't say only that it was a hero who could help us" said Leo ducking under a low hanging branch. The Rangers continued their trek before resting by a lake. "Did he at least say just who's essence were looking for?" asked Traci resting her head on James's lap. "He said it was someone Maleficent held a great hatred for and that's all" said Jessica. "Someone Maleficent hates" said Jack "yeah that doesn't narrow it down". Suddenly a tense feeling went through each of the Rangers as they soon got the distinct feeling that they were being watched. "Guys" whispered Vanessa gesturing to a tree, they followed her gaze till they saw roosting on the branches was Diablo, accessing each and every one of them with cold calculating eyes. "Oh no" whispered Connor in dread "that bird its…its Maleficent's" he croaked out. "How very right you are" a voice drawled out as from the shadows of the trees did the Mistress of all Evil herself come into the light. The Rangers quickly scrambled to their feet and morphed into their armours each pointing their weapons at the witch before them. "You Rangers have given my generals quite the trouble" said Maleficent leaning on her staff "and you see when they have trouble…it usually affects my interests" she went on narrowing her eyes "and I prefer it if my interests are not disturbed" she declared before shooting a blast of green fire straight at the teenagers who only barely just dodged. "Come on guys we can take her" Jessie encouraged running forward and shot a blast of pink energy from her staff, only for Maleficent to deflect the blast and send a burst of purple lightning at the Pink Ranger sending her flying into the grass "no we can't" she moaned. Traci and Connor jumped into the air towards Maleficent with their Sword and Mace held high only for Maleficent to easily block with her staff. "If there's one thing I hate more then pest's its traitors" Maleficent sneered throwing the two Chaos Rangers back. Jack, Vanessa and Theo all ran at the witch with their respective weapons and briefly spared with her before she pushed them back with a wave of dark magic. "YOU are the one's that my generals have been having trouble with" Maleficent laughed in mocking disbelief "clearly they have been making mountains out of molehills" she deduced with an evil sneer raising her staff and let dark energy gather around it. But before she could strike the rangers disappeared in multi coloured flashes. The Rangers soon found themselves back at Yen-Sid's tower staring up at their mentor in exhaustion. "Rangers are you all right" the wise wizard asked in concern. "Well, if 'all right' means getting our butts kicked by a thousand-year-old she beast with horns sticking out of her head then yeah were just dandy" said Traci sarcastically as the Rangers collapsed onto the various chairs and couches in the chamber. "Forgive me Rangers" said Yen-Sid "I should've prepared you for the possibilities of facing Maleficent herself". "Its not your fault Master" said Jessica as she and Leo exchanged looks "but now that she's joined the fight we have to be ready for next time". As soon as she said those words the mirror began to glow, and they saw Maleficent downtown Madison causing chaos. "And it looks like next time is now" said Leo as the Rangers headed to the door only for Yen Sid to stop them. "James you lead the others to protect the City" he ordered "Leo you must head back to the forest and find the essence". "WHAT" said Leo "but master people are in danger and the others need me" he protested. "You will need that particular essence if you wish to stop Maleficent" Yen Sid explained. "He's right Leo" sad Melody "we can last long enough for you to make it back". "Ok" said Leo "good luck guys". In Madison Maleficent was having a ball wreaking havoc sending the frightened towns folk into a panic. "Oh, what fun my pet" she said to Diablo who rested on a bench near her "I should get out to cause destruction more often, rediscover my roots" she laughed when suddenly Diablo was hit by a blast of pink energy turning him to stone. Maleficent turned to see 10 of the 11 Rangers standing not far from her each one pointing their weapons at her. "You never learn do you" she mockingly asked as the Rangers ran at her. Back in the forest Leo ran past the lake where the Rangers first fought Maleficent and went deeper into the woods, he had to find that essence and fast. He soon came into a meadow where he soon felt he was not alone. Turning around he saw leaning against a tree was a man in his twenties. The man had short brown hair and wore a dark grey tunic over a black turtleneck, dark brown pants, black boots and a red cape. "Turn back now if you know what's good for you" the man ordered getting off the tree. Leo turned away from the man but before he could leave however barriers of light soon developed around the meadow sealing Leo and the man inside. "You heard me" said the man "turnback". "I can't do that" said Leo finally turning to the man "there's something in these woods I need and I'm not leaving without it". "I know what it is you want and if you want it" said the man holding out his hand causing a burst of light to appear and that light soon became a sword with a long shinning white blade "you'll have to get past me" he challenged. Leo narrowed his eyes "have it your way" he said raising his wrist "Disney power, Ranger Power ha" he cried activating his morphing sequence.
"Courage of Simba, Red Disney Ranger" he cried.
Leo soon drew The Sword of Kings. "Let's see if your good enough to wield that Sword" the man challenged as the two soon locked blades. Leo soon found that his mysterious opponent was no mere pushover, as he had soon found himself being pushed back by the man's obviously more experienced swordsman skills. "You may be good enough to last against a muscle-bound twit like Gaston" said the man as he effortlessly parried a blow "but it'll take more then some fancy foot work and shiny suit or armour to stop Maleficent". "How.." said Leo wondering how this stranger knew all that "who are you?". "No one of consequence" said the man raising his sword as they circled one another. Leo and the man continued their duel for over an hour until finally Leo found himself pushed to the ground and dropping out of Ranger mode. The man had his blade at Leo's throat "one last chance give up or die" he ordered. "Not happening" said Leo "my friends need me, and I won't let them down" he said as to his surprise the man smiled and pulled him to his feet. "As expected" said the man "I can see why Simba choose you Leo" he said as Leo looked confused. "Eh who are you?" he asked again. "My name is Phillip…Prince Phillip" the man introduced himself "and the essence you've been searching for is mine". "Years ago, in Disney during the war against Maleficent I devoted my life to defeating her to protect the woman I love and all my people from her evil" he explained "together you and your friends can finish the fight the other heroes and I started" he said a white light enveloped him and he held out his sword. "When you face the Witch, you will have both Simba's courage and my strength added to your own" he said as his essence entered the blade "and you can stop her" his voice lingered before fading. Leo stared at the sword before him before taking it in his hand. Back at Madison the other rangers had fought their best against Maleficent and managed to last longer than they had in the woods. But sadly, Maleficent still proved to be more than a match for their efforts. "You Rangers have caused me more than enough trouble" The mistress of all evil declared "and now you have left me choice but to provide a PERMANENT solution to the situation" she declared raising her staff and let its dark energy gather. "I don't think so your horn-ness" said Leo as he arrived on the scene, and in his hand was a glowing white essence. He summoned his sword in the other hand pressed the essence into the blade and when he did, the sword began to glow a beautiful red and white. "The Courage of Simba and The Valour of Prince Phillip unite as one to see evil undone" the Red Ranger chanted. Maleficent snarled at the Red Ranger and sent a blast of green fire at him, only for Leo to bat the fire away with his sword. Leo and Maleficent soon exchanged blows with one another, to the outside observer they moved so quickly it was if they had three swords and staffs, until finally Leo managed to land a swift upper strike against the staff cutting it in two. "Ahh" Maleficent snapped in rage "insolent fool, prepare yourself to suffer all the powers of HELL" she screamed as green flames enveloped her entire body leaving only her silhouette. The flames should upwards, expanding the silhouette and as it did and when they rescinded standing in Maleficent's place was a massive, monstrous black scaled dragon. "Raaggghh" The Dragon roared snapping jaws at the Rangers who quickly dodged. "Connor you and the others get the civilians to safety" ordered Leo before turning to his original team "you guys lets settle this". "Disney Force Megazord" they cried as they formed their Megazord. The Dragon let out a load roar before breathing a burst of fire at the Megazord who used its swords to block. The Megazord swung its blades at the Dragon who quickly took to the air and lunged at the Megazord knocking it back. "We cannot give up" said Leo. "Leo call on Prince Phillip's power once again" Yen Sid instructed "you can do this". "Prince Phillip" whispered Leo "lend us your strength to see this monster fall" as soon as he said those words the Megazord's blades united as one and shun a beautiful white light. "DISNEY STRIKE" the Rangers cried as their shinning blade struck the dragon in its centre. "AHHHGGG" the Dragon cried as its exploded in a burst of green flames. The Rangers soon returned to the tower and were addressed by their proud mentor. "Rangers I am so proud of each of you" Yen Sid said, "thanks to your efforts this and all worlds are now safe from Maleficent forever". "What happens now?" asked James. "There are still her generals to see to" replied Yen Sid "as well as…". He froze mid-sentence turning to the window. "What's wrong?" asked Melody in concern. "I sense…a disturbance" replied Yen Sid gravely. At the dark fortress Gaston, Facilier, Hook and La were all arguing. "We need a new Leader" Gaston insisted. "And you think it should be you" scoffed Hook. The four each put a hand on their respective weapons, Gaston and Hook their sword's, Facilier his cane and La her staff, each one eyeing their other daring them, anyone to make the first move. Suddenly the usually cold chamber was filled with heat as before their very eyes all the thorns and vines vanished into thin air. No one said anything when suddenly BOOM a previously unlit torch from behind them suddenly came to life…with blue fire. The four villains turned pale in realization as all the torches in the fortress began to burn with blue flames. "Well," said Gaston as they all turned to one another "I think we all know just WHO this means".
