WATCH AND LEARN
a BNHA x Ben 10 crossover fic
by FaceMan
Hey there folks! This is gonna be my first-ever fanfic written here on this site and I'm pumped! Let's get some stuff right off the bat:
TIMELINE: This takes place after Omniverse for Ben. No Ultimate forms, no Skurd, no gimmicks. Just a boy and his alien device.
SHIPS: I have no idea who Ben will end up with at this point in time. I'm leaning toward one of the girls in Class B. No, he will NOT be getting with any of the pro heroes in the series. This ain't that kinda fic.
OTHER INFO: So, all the designs used here in this fic will be based on their appearance in Omniverse. Original aliens/reboot aliens MAY pop up, but as for who and what, I'm not certain. As for the explanation of how Ben can do what he does in this universe, I'm borrowing the "Unstable DNA" Quirk idea presented by The Incredible Muffin. I asked beforehand if I could use it, and got permission. Thanks, Muffin! Also, in writing this, I noticed SOME similarities between Ben's predicament and Peter Parker's in Zaru's "Friendly Foreign Dimensional Exchange Student Spiderman!" Both authors have some good fics and I highly recommend giving 'em a read!
Bold text will be used when their name pops up, italicized text will represent internal dialogue (thoughts).
Those are really all the important bits of info you need to know before jumping in! Please; keep your arms and legs inside the fanfic at all times. Make sure all your personal belongings are accounted for, and please, enjoy the ride!

PROLOGUE: Headfirst Into the Unknown
Benjamin Kirby Tennyson was floating in what looked like space, his mind barely clinging to consciousness. His entire body felt like a bruise.
"Where... where am I?" He croaked out, his eyes struggling to stay open
"Where indeed?" A familiar voice with an english accent replied. A blue portal tore open in front of the semi-conscious hero. A pair of green goggles hung from his neck, a victorian-styled coat adorning his body. His right hand was replaced with a metallic prosthetic and in his right was a walking cane. His whole getup screamed "steampunk"
"Professor Paradox?" Ben muttered
"It's good to see you again, Benjamin. Though I wish it were under better circumstances." He replied, a sad smile on his face.
"What's going on here?" Ben asked as he positioned himself upright to face Paradox. He clutched his head as his mind began to clear.
"I was... I was falling out of the Contumeliea's ship." His eyes widened, his memories jarring him fully awake. "The Annihilargh! It was going off when I..." Ben looked around him, the inky void seemed to go on forever.
"Oh man... did I... did I fail?"
"No, Benjamin, you did not." Professor Paradox assured. "You were successful in halting Maltruant's scheme for universal domination." He placed his metallic hand on his chin. "Or would recreation be a more apt turn of phrase? Well, whatever the correct title may be, it didn't come to pass.
"And Rook?"
"Safe and sound at Plumber HQ. Some bruises and bumps here and there, but nothing a little bit of rest and relaxation won't fix." He replied with a grin.
Ben breathed a sigh of relief. This was short lived, however as he looked at his surroundings. Or lack there of, to be more accurate.
"So, if I didn't screw up, why am I floating in a void?"
"Ah, yes. Quite the conundrum, isn't it?" Paradox said. He opened his hand, and a holographic display extended from the palm, surrounding him and Ben. Multiple celestial bodies and star systems were swirling around the two. It zoomed into a specific quadrant on the map, producing a holographic recreation of Feedback obliterating the rogue Chronosapien known as Maltruant.
"While you were unable to stop the Annihilargh from detonating, you refused to give up. Your actions activated a last-resort failsafe of the omnitrix. It shuffled through the roster of alien forms until it gave you exactly the alien you needed."
"I keep telling people Feedback is awesome" Ben replied with a smirk.
"Indeed. The conductoid's abilities allowed you to channel the nigh infinite energy of the big bang, and redirect it right back at Maltruant. Unfortunately, the release of energy knocked you out of reality as we know it. Thankfully, I was able to find you and suspend you in this state." Paradox explained. His eyes grew somber as he looked at Ben's wrist.
"But, I couldn't help your other friend..." Ben gave Paradox a confused glance. His omnitrix was still on his wrist, nothing out of the ordinary there. So why was he...
Ben's eyes widened, then a pained expression swept across his face.
"Skurd..." Ben managed to say. The little Slimebiote latched upon his wristwatch a few months prior to the fight with Maltruant. He had a unique ability to ingest and assimilate the DNA of any species he latched onto. With the nearly one-million samples of alien genetic code at his slimy fingertips, Skurd had found a veritable banquet. Not wanting to simply be a freeloader, Skurd had extended his abilities to create weapons, limbs and enhanced features for Ben to use in battle which has saved their lives more than once. His condescending attitude and know-it-all tendencies made him a bit frustrating to work with, but Ben had grown to respect and even care for the pint-sized alien. It was no over-exaggeration to say that Skurd had saved his life on many occasions.
And just like that... he was gone.
"I am truly sorry, Benjamin. I tried my best to save him." Paradox put his hand on Ben's shoulder.
"I owed him my life too. He's saved my butt so many times and half of that time I treated him like a pest.. I just wish I could've said sorry or something." Ben lamented.
"I'm certain he's aware you thought him as a friend, not a pest. Unfortunately, we don't have time to mourn. I'm stretching my capabilities very thin as it is here. The space between spaces doesn't leave much room to move." Paradox's form then seemed to... glitch out. A distorted cry of pain emanated from his lips as he doubled over and clutched his stomach.
"Professor!" Ben yelled.
"Nothing to worry about, Benjamin." Paradox groaned. "Just a small bit of spacio-temporal displacement trauma. It's only deadly if I stay here for extended periods of time."
"Well then, what are you waiting for? Use some of that space-time business to get us back home!"
"I'm afraid it's not that simple. Well, for me it is, but your status here complicates things. I regret to inform you that you cannot return to your universe." Paradox explained.
It was as if a blade had entered Ben's gut. No way back home? No more grandpa, no more Kai or Gwen or Kevin? No Plumbers? NO MORE MR. SMOOTHIES?
"Oh man..." Ben muttered, his hand on his head. "So, what? I'm just going to float out here in the infinite abyss until I bite the big one?!"
"Ordinarily, yes. But fortunately, I am here. In the infinite expanse of the multiverse, I have found a universe that I believe you would be a good fit for. A world that has some unique 'quirks' of its own, filled with many dangers and many wonders."
"A good fit for?" Ben asked. Paradox was about to explain further when he flickered and glitched out again.
"Apologies, Benjamin, but I'm afraid I can't tarry here any longer." With a wave of his robotic hand, another blue portal opened behind Ben. Also, due to the rushed nature of this chronal displacement, you may experience a side-effect or two, apologies!"
"Wait, side effect? many dangers? What kind of world are you sending me to?" Ben protested
"You'll be able to figure it out in due time! I'll make sure your family knows you're safe and sound! Keep your wits about you! Good luck!" With a flick of Paradox's wrist, the wielder of the omnitrix was sent hurtling through.
"Well! Here goes everything I guess!" Ben yelled, clenching his eyes tight as he plummeted into the unknown.

The light of the portal faded, and Ben could feel the wind whipping at his face. He slowly opened his eyes... to find that he was in free-fall!
"Gah! Not even two seconds in and I'm already in peril? Can't you give a guy a break, universe?" Ben shouted, his words barely audible over the sound of the wind. He was fighting to keep his eyes open against the air smacking his face. This combined with the fatigue he still felt from his universe-saving antics was beginning to do a real number on him. His arm fought against the force of wind. He reached for the omnitrix, and pressed on the faceplate. A holographic ring with various insignias appeared.
"C'mon, omnitrix!" Ben pleaded, pressing an icon. The faceplate slid back and a circular core with a green hourglass popped up.
"Give me something with wings!" He slammed down on the core and his body was enveloped in a green light. His body became wider, stockier. Smooth, curved yellow plates adorned his back, shoulder and the backs of his stubby, clawed hands. A black stripe resembling a nose stretched down from his forehead and went in-between his green eyes. A badge with the same green hourglass symbol was displayed prominently on his chest.
"Aw, man! Cannonbolt? Seriously?" the Arburian Pelarota whined. "Well, at least I can survive the impact... Waitaminute what's this?"
Cannonbolt squinted. While the wind still got to him, he could see easier than he could when he was human. The first thing he noticed was a set of elevated train tracks. A man who looked like some kind of shark-whale hybrid was causing a scene. A branch was wrapped tight around the shark-man's arm, and a man that looked like he was made of bark whipped around and over the writhing monster and onto the roof of the station. Cannonbolt couldn't hear what was being said, but he could see the onlookers apparently cheer for him.
"Well, this may not be my universe, but I know a villain when I see one. It's hero time!" Cannonbolt yelled. The arburian curled up into a yellow sphere and began to spin faster and faster, hurtling toward the gigantic villain.
"Hey, shark-face!" Cannonbolt yelled.
"なんてこったい?" The mutant whipped his head around. His eyes widened as he saw the spherical hero hurtling toward him.
"Why don't you leaf the guy alone?" the Arburian yelled. The villain's only response was to grit his teeth at the oncoming hero. Shark-face pulled back his arm, then backhanded Cannonbolt with incredible force! The omnitrix-bearer was sent hurtling away from the scene... and into the crowd of innocent bystanders!
"Aw, come on!" Ben groaned. Acting quickly, he unfurled from his ball form and slammed his hand against the omnitrix symbol on his chest. In a flash of green light, he shifted once again. His body became longer, going from a sumo-like being to something resembling a gorilla made of building blocks.
"Okay, Bloxx, don't fail me now!" The segmentisapien said through gritted teeth. With an exerted grunt, he extended his arms out and grabbed onto anything he could to slow himself down. His arms dug into the sides of the buildings until he came to a stop right before the crowd in front of him. In front of the crowd was a man with a fire-fighter uniform. A mask with a singular yellow eyepiece in the center was fixed upon the alien hero. His arms were outstretched with hose-like attachments on the end, with water shooting out from both hoses to form a "do not cross" line out of water. Another guy with gigantic cuffs around his arms with caution-tape like markings and a massive underbite entered a fighting position as he glared at Bloxx.
Bloxx looked at the hero, and then looked at the crowd. Boy, this world had some bizarre looking folks. Most looked normal, but among the crowd was a guy who looked like a velociraptor, a girl with bug-like compound eyes, and an old man with weird, star-shaped growths on the sides and top of his head.
"Is everybody okay?" Bloxx asked.
"は-はい..." the fire-fighter managed to say.
"Okay, I didn't understand a lick of that, but I'm gonna assume that was a 'yes'." Bloxx turned around to look at the massive villain destroying the train tracks. The segmentesapien scowled as his arms retracted to their normal length. He cracked his neck with a plastic sounding "Klik".
"I'm gonna teach Shamu over there a lesson!" Ben growled, running toward the fight.

One of the lessons Kamui Woods was taught by his mentor was that when fighting a villain, always be unexpected. A hero's greatest strength isn't their physical strength, nor their speed, but how well they can adapt to a situation.
When that yellow ball-man came hurtling down, that was one of the things that raced through his mind. It had given him just enough time to regain his bearings and prepare for another attack.
"Illegal quirk usage during rush hour, assault, and robbery. You are the incarnation of evil." Kamui boomed, striking a pose as he prepared his finishing move. The robber wasn't deterred.
"You think you scare me, tooth-pick?" The villain growled. "I'LL BREAK YOU IN TWO!"
"So be it... Pre-emptive binding..." Kamui started, pulling his arm back. When suddenly...
"YEH, KRAHS-ECAF!" A scratchy voice called out in an unknown language. Both Kamui and the villain looked to the side to see... a gorilla made of building blocks?
"Siht si rof kcab-gnidnah em!" He shouted. The block-man ran on all fours, running full tilt into the villain. With a heave of his arms, the unknown party launched himself into the air. His right hand turned into a mallet.
"ERAPERP OT TEG DEKCOR, YB XXOLB!" The multi-colored creature yelled at the top of his lungs. The villain braced himself for the oncoming blow when suddenly...
"CANYON CANNON!" A female voice boomed. His newest partner, a heroine with a gigantification quirk named Mt. Lady careened onto the scene. With a flying leap, she performed a massive dive-kick into the back of the shark-faced villain's head. Unfortunately, their unknown ally got caught in the crossfire as he slammed into ground, pinned down by the unconscious body of the criminal.
"Pleased to meet you all, I'm Mt. Lady." She introduced herself in a husky tone. "And you won't have to worry about this bum any- wait, who's this?" The giantess peeled shark-face out of the concrete, only to find the bizarre, block man embedded in the crater made by the rookie hero.
"UgGgGhHh." he groaned, shakily trying to pull himself out of the pavement. His efforts were awarded with fatigue and the pull of gravity bringing him back down to the him-shaped crater made by Mt. Lady. Kamui was originally dejected at first. His spotlight and credit being taken by an unknown element and a glory-hound rookie. It was no time for that, however. The stranger could be hurt, and he had no time to waste on petty feelings of jealousy and anger.
Kamui leapt off the roof of the station and onto the road. He approached the hero with concern.
"So, what's the deal with this guy?" Mt. Lady asked with a cocked brow as she shrunk down to her natural size.
"I have no idea." Kamui murmured. "Also, you should be careful! Because of your careless actions, you rendered him unconscious!" He chided.
"Hey! How was I supposed to know this guy was gonna be there? You, me, Backdraft and Death Arms were supposed to be the ones dealing with this guy." She shouted. "Nobody mentioned some block-gorilla on duty. Who even is this guy?"
The two were distracted by the sound of a consistent beeping noise, winding down in pitch coming from the badge on the unknown ally's chest. A vibrant green light emanated from his body as he shifted into the form of a fourteen-year-old boy. Kamui put a hand over his chin, lost in thought while Mt. Lady looked at the unconscious brunette.
"Who indeed?" Kamui muttered.
And blam! That's one down!
I don't know how consistent I'll be updating this fic as this type of thing is something I'm new at. I don't have a schedule in mind for uploads, and seeing as I'm taking a "writing by the seat of my pants" approach to this for the time being, I haven't gotten far in the planning for what's going to happen.
So, looks like I'd better get started on the outline, huh?
Have yourselves a good day!
