WHOA. WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA WHAAAAT
Yeah guys hi it's me. Again. Lol I'm pretty sure you're all tired of me saying this again and again, that oh hey sorry for not updating, been busy, will try to post asap, all that shit but okay, I think I got time. Actually, I was having such difficulty with this chapter because I didn't know what to put in it and yes to be honest it's rushed. Huhu don't be disappointed please like I really want to get to the resort part already (if you can still remember... LOL) because everything's going to start there. For realz people
I guess I do need motivation. Inspiration. The like. Reviews really help me in writing this story, so whenever I hear you loving this plot and stuff, oh, it gladdens me greatly. It helps me pick up the pace and post like a freak because that's how much I love you.
Ayt sorry for all the bullcrap I'll stop and get on with this chapter. Read read read and appreciate yeah! Marth/Ike forever YEAH!?
I don't own SSBB.
"Okay I was joking. I'm not taking part in this," Link said matter-of-factly as he dragged himself to the other court while Mr. Game & Watch jumped and twirled in joy. Marth and Ike threw judgmental looks at their coach, wondering how in the world he became a coach, and how in the world he exists in this world because he's supposed to be living in another dimension.
They were so perplexed in the moment that they faced each other, sharing the same confused feeling when they both realized how close they were.
"What in the name of—" Marth quickly stepped away and felt his face heat up when he bumped into Sheik who was standing right next to him. Ike snickered and also felt a little flushed after seeing Marth's face up close. Come to think of it, he's been blooming lately. It's as if one day, he's going to turn into a girl soon.
Ike chuckled. I'd totally hit on him if that happened. No shit, there's no way I'm ever going to do that, ever.
Marth faced Sheik and apologized repeatedly. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to…"
The ninja just looked at him and nodded, nonchalant as always. Marth hoped that he had been forgiven.
After a tired sigh, he headed to the badminton court along with the others when the school bell sounded in the PA system, announcing the end of the day.
"Oh Lord, THANK YOU!" Link blurted out as he raised his hands to the heavens as if thanking the gods for that cue.
"It's about time," spoke Wolf and stopped in his tracks. "Well then, it was great for having fought with you," he directed his gaze at Marth, "and against you." He turned to Ike and nodded once.
Fox grinned. "Yeah, that match was awesome! And super intense, too. Thanks for that!" He started walking the other way to the cafeteria. He forgot to say how it made him all hungry, too.
"In my case, I was glad to have watched the game. Adieu," Falco dismissed himself and followed behind Fox and Wolf who seemed to have come to good terms. Frienemies, remember?
The twins approached Marth and Ike. "And we as well. Take this time to repose, alright?" Zelda was speaking to the both of them, and it felt strangely odd. Sheik merely gave a nod and they both left the area. Pit, Link and Meta Knight stayed with the two, waiting for their instructions. Apparently, it was as if they were under their command now.
"So… what's the plan?" Link broke the silence and looked at Ike then to Marth and back to Ike again. He was obviously dependent on his best friend. Following him around and goofing off all the time. Typical Link, Marth thought to himself.
"I was thinking of practicing my combat skills in the gym later. You with me?" Ike looked over at Meta Knight but the answer wasn't what he expected it to be. The blue ball shook his head by means of saying 'no' while Link stood next to him.
"I feel the same with this little guy over here. Sorry Ike, but I'll pass. Besides, there might be classes being held there."
"Of course if it's free, dumbass. You don't expect me to go crash some class and show my moves off to everyone there, do you?"
Marth rolled his eyes in annoyance. That sounds so like you, to be honest, oh, he wanted to answer. Instead he said, "Whatever. I'm done here." He glanced at Pit. "Are you going to the dorm?"
Pit ran towards him while Ike observed them in… jealousy? He didn't know. He just didn't like the sight of Marth and Pit getting too close… just because they're roommates doesn't mean… he felt his hand clench into a fist. Yeahp, jealousy it was.
"Yes, are you?" the angel asked while Marth replied with a friendly 'yes' and headed to the dorm together. Ike unclenched and went back to Meta Knight.
"How about you? I assume you're going to the dorm too, ain't ya?"
Meta Knight did a gesture that went something like 'totes-I'm-hella-tired-so-see-ya' and proceeded to their room. Ike let out a whistle and remembered Mr. Game & Watch.
"And for our coachie, sir Game, what are you—"
He turned around only to be greeted by nothing but the court in the distance.
"HA!"
Ike swung his Ragnell here and there and practiced a few of his moves like the Quick Draw. He was getting a hang of it now, considering that he's a slow fighter, he needed to improve his pace and damage. After he released, he was much faster this time compared to last time's training and his swinging was wider, taking more space than usual which, was good.
The gym was a little dark despite the fluorescent lights (well of course, he only lit like a few because there were so many damn switches for hundreds of them hanging from the ceiling), but the area was undeniably vast. It was good for intense training and battles, but he was sure that the building wouldn't handle hardcore competitions. The entire structure wouldn't be able to hold up then.
He dug his sword on the ground and executed his Eruption ability, lighting up the gym floor with powerful flames for a second. That wasn't the best, but he could deal with it for now. It could tire him out fully if he used all of his energy just for this practice that was going nowhere. Was it even practice? Or was it just time to keep his mind off of things…
Marth entered his head all of a sudden. His childhood rival and Smash High classmate. How long have they been fighting against each other? He forgot.
He took Ragnell and raised it high, its blade big enough to hit anyone in one heavy blow. How did it even start in the first place? He could only recall a faint memory of meeting him one summer day when they were kids… wow, that wasn't so long a time ago, but his brain was too weak. He really did need that memory drink Link recommended him.
He sheathed his golden sword and decided to call it a night. Besides, the moon was already shining brightly from outside the windows. He turned off the lights and closed the gym door behind him as he tried to reminisce his crazy moments with Marth.
He rubbed his eyes, feeling drowsy all of a sudden. Wow, it was pretty draining to remember the past. Why was he even? The past is the past.
He arrived at the dorm and passed through long corridors when he was finally in front of his room. He suspected that Meta Knight was still up, so he knocked at the door gently.
Within milliseconds, the door was already open. He was right – Meta Knight was still freshening up. He didn't look sleepy, either. Ike yawned. Well, he was.
He placed his weapon near his bed and plopped onto the mattress, fully exhausted after a day of club activities, nerve-racking matches, and self-trainings.
Meta Knight wanted to tell him to shower before he could hit the covers, but he suddenly felt that there was no need to. He sensed that Ike had been thinking a lot since that tennis game, so he turned off the lampshade and left the worn-out mercenary to rest in his deep slumber.
Ike's eyelids started to flutter. The night has come, and it was time for him to sleep… any time now…
The last image on his mind was Marth's blushing face as they shared confused glances just inches away.
Ooohh, finally, a sneak peek into Marth and Ike's childhood! I'm already working on the history of their rivalry, since all of you are so interested to know the reason behind their competition hehe.
