I don't own SSBB.
Ike continued to stare at the clock above the blackboard, his eyes refusing to blink.
Tick, tick, tick.
"…of course in order for force to happen, mass and acceleration should be present…"
He watched as the second hand moved closer and closer to the hour hand…
The school bell played in the PA system, indicating the end of classes. At that, all of the students stood up from their seats, whooping and cheering loudly in excitement.
Of course they would be excited, today was Friday – and Friday meant going to the private beach resort their physical education teacher declared last Tuesday.
"This crazy section…" King Dedede muttered as he went through his daily struggle of trying to go through the doorway, but now that he's been exercising a lot and controlling his food intake, he did not require much help from Ike anymore.
Marth was probably the only one not as eager as the others. He was still seated on his chair with his usual leg-over-the-other position, uninterested and a little tired from all that reflecting yesterday. He sighed and decided to head back to the dorm to start preparing his stuff for the weekend training.
As soon as he stood up, he bumped into Ike who was running around in joy. Marth stumbled slightly when his foot got caught at the leg of his table, causing him to lose his balance.
"Ahh—"
A hand locked around his waist, saving him from his fall. Marth glanced up to meet Ike who was looking at him intently. It seemed like he wasn't the only one surprised.
"What are you— get your hands off of me!" Marth felt his face heat up while he pushed Ike away roughly, but the taller male didn't move as much. The blunette moved to the side to give himself some space and glared at Ike.
"What's the problem, princess? You should be thankful I saved your head from shattering into a million pieces," he angrily said, slightly hurt for not having to be thanked. God, every time, Marth would always kill his mood.
Marth crossed his arms over his chest. "Who said you'd catch me anyway? I could've balanced myself from that fall without your assistance, excuse me. And besides, you're not supposed to help me!"
The class was now observing their argument, wanting to know what was going to happen next. Anything that occurred between the two was interesting and entertaining to them.
Ike put his hands to his hips. "Excuse you, Fried Dumpling, but it's called the code of chivalry. As a man of respect and honor, it would be of my character to save anyone in a dangerous situation."
Marth wasn't pleased at all. "Since when did you follow the code of chivalry? And I wasn't in a dangerous situa—"
Suddenly, a figure came tumbling and cartwheeling into the room, stopping right between the two.
Captain Falcon held out his arms in front of them. "Hold your horses, children! Stop your whining and get your asses moving, because we're going to leave for the resort in an hour! Now, if you won't stop and you're all still not prepared for departure, the bus is going to leave you behind and you're going to be trapped in this school for three days and two nights! Now, would you want that or no?"
Ike shook his head indignantly. "Hell no! I'm definitely coming, coach! Someone just happened to ruin the moment." He looked over at Marth and rolled his eyes.
This infuriated the blunette. "Watch it, Steamed Tofu. I'm not feeling too good, so leave. Me. Alone." He faced Captain Falcon. "Sorry coach, it was just a misunderstanding. I'll see to it that I'll be ready in a while." Then he did a slight bow and made his way to the dorm. It offered as a signal for the students to disperse and go their ways.
Pit had been clutching the end of his shirt for quite a while now. He calmed himself down, but he couldn't stop thinking about what had happened moments ago. The scene flashed in his head – Ike's arm firmly around Marth's waist, how close their bodies were…
A pang of jealousy struck him, but he shooed it away. No no no, don't be jealous over a ridiculous thing! It all happened too quickly, so it was only normal for Ike to have acted upon it that way. But still…
Pit remembered something else. He thought he saw Marth blush right after that.
"Alright, children! Has everyone brought everything they needed?"
Captain Falcon scanned the crowd of students while everyone chatted with one another in glee. Ike slung his duffel bag on his shoulder when someone took hold of his arm, making him jolt.
"Holy mother of—" He turned around only to see his elven friend with a goofy grin on his face.
"Hey, what's up Ikey Wikey! Are you coming to the field trip too?" he asked while he dropped his heavy baggage on the ground.
Ike wrinkled his eyebrows, confused. "Oh, are you coming too? I thought it was only our class who was going." He looked at his surroundings and now that he noticed, the people around him weren't just those from his class.
"And so did I! Isn't this like the whole student body? I think all the Smash High students are required to attend it!" Link rubbed his hands together. "Oohh, this is going to be sooooo fun!"
Marth was making his way through the horde of enthusiastic students when he caught sight of Ike who was talking to Link nearby. He quickly averted his gaze and went the other way, trying to avoid him at all costs.
He still couldn't get that out of his head, though. Ike's arm around his waist, saving him from his fall… Marth shut his eyes. Forget it! It's going to be a weekend spent on training, so keep your mind focused and don't let any distractions get to your head. He was walking briskly when Pit tapped him on the shoulder.
"Marth?"
The prince regarded the angel and forced a smile. "Yeah?"
"I was hoping if… you could sit next to me during the road trip? I-I'm so sorry if I keep on asking these questions… I just don't want to be—"
"Alone?" Marth interrupted, and this time, he wore a genuine smile. "Sure. But I can't promise you that I'll be talking to you throughout the trip. I tend to read most of the time, you see."
Pit's eyes glistened in relief. "Oh, I-I don't mind! Thank you so much…" He brought his head down and stayed with Marth as they waited for further announcements from Captain Falcon.
"I see that all of you has packed their essentials! No one's car sick, huh? How about specific food allergies? Inform me before we hit the road! Also, are there any other concerns? Questions? Violent reactions?"
Lucas shot his arm right into the air. "Coach! Are we allowed to bring Pikachu with us?"
Ness hugged Pikachu, praying that their pet wouldn't get left behind. "Yeah sir, please?"
Captain Falcon scowled. "…it does have powers, right?" Both kids nodded in reply.
"Well then yes, that thing is allowed." He faced the crowd as if he was about to say the most important speech of his life. "Again, if any of you do not know how to fight, none of you should be studying in this school to begin with. Whoever has no experience with combat, leave now while you still can." Then it was his cue to perform his Falcon Punch in order to scare the students. Ike scoffed, not the least threatened.
No one walked out. After a few minutes of waiting on each other, Captain Falcon's voice filled the air once again.
"Good. Since everyone is ready to go, we can now board the bus. By the way, I don't care about who you sit with or where you're going to sit, so if you have seatmate problems, don't address them to me because that's none of my concern. Noted? Noted."
It was amazing how every student from Smash High (as well as the professors and coaches) was able to fit in the vehicle. It didn't seem so gigantic from outside, but the interior was something else. It accommodated everyone perfectly and was comfortable, too. Anyone could play music as long as it wasn't too loud and noise was kept at moderate. Even the professors were friendly enough to join in a few games except of course, Professor Snake who chose to fiddle with his gadgets.
Ike was seated next to Link and Meta Knight with Zero Suit Samus and her friends all the way at the back while Marth sat near Pit, Zelda and Sheik in the middle. You could almost see the different cliques here and there.
Marth took out his favorite book and checked on Pit who was seated by the window. "Are you okay there, Pit?"
The angel wanted the window seat, so he was fine right where he was. Marth just felt obliged to ask him out of courtesy. Pit smiled sweetly. "Yes, thank you. H-How about you, Marth?"
Marth's lips curved into a small smile. "Don't worry about me. It's just that the people behind us are a bit too loud, you see…" He looked back at the ones who were making the most noise: Ike's circle of friends – not surprised. They were singing like lunatics, and some of them weren't even in tune.
Marth groaned in dismay and tried to concentrate on what he was reading. Pit was busy looking out the window and taking in the view. The professors didn't give a shit at all, so it was probably only Marth who was disturbed by the ruckus they were causing.
"We were victims of the night…" Link and Ike sang loudly with the others. When they got to the chorus, the whole bus started singing along as well – that is, excluding Marth, Meta Knight, Sheik, and Snake.
"Oh don't you dare look back, just keep your eyes on me. I said, 'You're holding back', she said, 'Shut up and dance with me'!"
Being the hyperactive show-off he was, Ike stood up and started executing his dance moves that weren't so impressive. Everyone at the back laughed and tried to imitate his movements while he made his way through the aisle, stopping right behind Marth's seat.
"This woman is my destiny. She said, 'Ooh-ooh-hoo, shut up and dance with me'!" Ike blurted out the lyrics terribly, but Marth knew he sang better than that. He just showcased his talent during music club – that, he couldn't forget.
The blue-haired prince slowly turned his head to face Ike. "Go. Away."
Another argument was bound to happen again – and this time, the entire student body was here to witness it.
"What a killjoy," said Ike in a childish voice, acting all immature to piss Marth off. He succeeded, as always.
"Will you go back to your seat?" Marth returned to Sophie's World and flipped a page while Ike moved his face next to his, attempting to read the chapter.
Marth was flustered. "What the hell is wrong with you?!" he yelled as he slammed the book on Ike's face as an act of reflex and defense. He could feel his heart race. What was that all about, him moving in so close?!
Pit was now watching them, holding back that negative emotion he felt back then. It was surfacing, but he was suppressing it well. Don't get jealous, don't get jealous, he reminded himself.
"OW! That hurt pretty bad, you assho—"
The car unexpectedly skidded to a halt, sending Ike crashing to the floor within seconds. The brake just literally threw him to the ground, and now everyone wondered if the impact wasn't too bad.
Captain Falcon rose from his seat. "We have arrived!"
Marth stared at Ike who remained where he was. The guy was obviously embarrassed. He chuckled to himself. Pathetic.
Everyone grabbed their belongings in haste. Snake caught a glimpse of Ike, unmoving.
"Get up, Two, or I won't make you get up anymore."
Ike was on his feet in a flash, already slinging his duffel bag over his shoulder to keep himself alive.
A bit of Ike/Marth yeahp I hope you were happy with this chap? Huhu by the way, your reviews deeply touch me. Keep em coming! You do know this is all for you guys, heck.
