"Do you wanna play with me, Wocky?" Zuma asked, tail wagging furiously.
"No, Zuma…" Rocky said. "I don't have time."
"Oh, why not?" Zuma asked. "We haven't had a mission for the past week. And I'm bored." Rocky sighed.
"No, Zuma. I said no. I have work to do." he gestured to the pile of...everything...on the floor of his pup house. "This isn't gonna sort itself."
"Wocky…" Zuma whined. "Just for a little bit?"
"Go play with Marshall or Skye," Rocky said. "And stop annoying me." Zuma's tail stopped wagging.
"Okay…" Zuma said sadly, turning. "Sowwy...I'll go now..." Zuma whimpered and left.
Rocky turned back to his work, but he found himself feeling too guilty to concentrate.
"Ugh, Zuma….you little devil. Why do you always manage to guilt trip me without even trying?" He went out and saw Zuma sitting with all four paws spread out in the grass. He was humming something sadly, and he sighed and whined unhappily. Rocky padded over to him and nuzzled his neck. "Come on, cheer up, pup." Zuma's tail immediately started wagging, and he scrambled to his paws.
"Fine...I'll play with you," Rocky said. "Just stop being so sad!" Zuma pushed him over and licked him, soft pink tongue dampening his face.
"Ugh….Zuma…" Rocky said, pushing Zuma's muzzle away.
"Thankyou thankyou thankyou!" he exclaimed. "Wanna play hide-and-seek?" he asked.
"Okay," Rocky said. "Not it!" Zuma sighed.
"I guess I'm it, then," he said. "One...two...three…" Rocky took off and hid in his puphouse. He'll never find me in here. There's too much stuff. Besides, the air already smells like me anyway, so he can't track me. Rocky wiggled up under a stack of newspapers and waited.
"I know you awe in hewe, Wocky." He heard Zuma's voice about ten seconds later. "I can smell you." Zuma looked around. "Now where are you?" Zuma looked up under Rocky's bed. No Rocky. He went into the back and looked under his desk and in one of his filing cabinets. Nothing.
"Hmmm…." Zuma noticed something on Rocky's bed. "What's this?" It was a small brown book with a tassel in the middle. On the front, it said:
The Thoughts and Feelings of Rocky
"Is this like...a diary or something?" he asked himself. Then he caught a slight shifting near a stack of newspapers.
"Ha! Found you!" Zuma said, pushing off the many pieces of paper from his best friend.
"I'm actually glad you did. It was getting hot up under there." Rocky said, licking his cheek.
"Hey, dude, what's this?" he asked, picking up Rocky's book and opening it to the latest page. "I wonder what you've been thinking about!"
"What are you..." Rocky's eyes widened.
"I've been struggling with feel…" Rocky's reaction was quick. In a flash, he had snatched his book back and slammed it closed. Zuma looked shocked.
"Get out!" Rocky commanded.
"Dude...I'm sorry, I just…"
"Get out of my house!" Rocky shouted, baring his fangs.
"What?! I didn't even…"
Rocky grabbed Zuma's paw in his teeth and pulled him off the bed roughly. He pushed him out of the room and slammed the door shut, pressing his back against it. He felt his heart beating so quickly he felt like it was about to come right out of his chest. He opened his journal again, and read the sentence Zuma hadn't finished.
I've been struggling with feelings for my best friend, Zuma. Recently, he's been looking very cute...and seductive. He's making me feel these...feelings...I've never felt before! I get all tingly around him, and my pelt heats up. My mind scrambles...and all I can think about is him. I've been wanting him to be my mate...and I can't stop looking between his hindlegs...and staring at his tail! I keep thinking about how good it would feel to have him bend over...raise his tail...okay, what am I writing?! Anyway, I'm glad Zuma never notices...I don't know if I like him, or just have a crush on him, of what. All I know is that I shouldn't. We are both males, and I shouldn't have feelings for him.
Rocky shut the book again and ran his forepaws through his headfur. Oh, Zuma... He suddenly smelled an irony smell. He looked on the floor and saw a few drops of blood. Oh, shit, Zuma. I didn't mean to hurt you! I'd better go apologize, quickly, or this could get really bad!
Rocky opened his door and ran to Zuma's puphouse. He was on his bed, licking his paw sadly, whining. Rocky could see the tears going down his face. Rocky closed the door, and immediately pulled Zuma into a hug. Zuma was quick to react.
"Let me go!" Zuma shouted. "I hate you! You bit me!" He tried to get away, but Rocky just hugged him tighter.
"No, Zuma…" Rocky said. "I'm so sorry. I wasn't thinking!"
"I don't care!" Zuma shouted. "Don't make me bite you...because I will!"
"If you do, I won't stop you," Rocky said, closing his eyes. "I deserve it anyway." He was surprised when Zuma actually bit his paw. He winced and yelped in pain, and blood streamed off Rocky's paw and stained Zuma's pelt.
"Let me go!" Zuma demanded. Rocky knew if he let go of Zuma before he had been pacified, the breakdown in relations would be awful. It was an unspoken rule amongst the pups:
Don't. Bite. Each. Other.
Rocky just broke that rule.
Rocky held his paw in front of Zuma again and closed his eyes, whining and whimpering as Zuma bit him again, harder this time. He did not pull away and try to stop Zuma, he just tried to hug all his love into the brown pup.
"Please...calm down..." Rocky begged, burying his snout in Zuma's neck.
After Zuma had bitten his paw for the third time, and ran out of anger, and was appalled at what he had done. Deep puncture wounds were evident, and blood flowed freely from it onto the ground. And still, Rocky kept it still, even while he was crying in Zuma's neck.
"I'm sorry!" he pleaded. "Please...stop hurting me...!"
Zuma looked down at his own paw, which hadn't been bitten thrice, nor was the cut deep. It was more of a really intense scratch than anything. Pacified, Zuma came to his mind again.
"I'm so sowwy! I didn't weally wanna bite you!" Zuma said. "I was just weally mad! What...what have I done!?"
"Shhh...Zuma…" Rocky said. "It's okay. I deserved it. I didn't mean to bite you, either…I guess we're even now..." Zuma eventually returned the hug, and Rocky sighed, happy to have his friend back. Zuma began licking his paw, and he licked the blood away from it and soothed the pain. Rocky sighed as Zuma did this and nuzzled his neck in reward.
"Good boy, Zuma..." he murmured. "Good boy..."Zuma sniffed.
"Don't say that, Wocky. I'm not a good boy..." Zuma whined.
"Zuma, you were angry. And when I forced you from my puphouse, I was angry. We were both angry and did the wrong thing. That doesn't make me any more right than you are. So please, don't beat yourself up about it. My paw can heal, but ruined friendships rarely do."
"Our friendship could never be broken," Zuma said. Once he had licked Rocky's paw clean, he wrapped it up in some medical gauze and tape.
"Hey, how did you get these?" Rocky asked.
"Marshall gave me a spare first-aid kit. With a water rescue, I might need to attend to the person right then, before he can get to Marshall."
"You're good at this," Rocky said when his paw was all better. "Good boy, Zuma, good boy!" he nipped and Zuma's neck, and he panted happily. "You like that?"
"Yeah..." Zuma murmured, tilting his head back to let Rocky nip it more. After a little bit, Rocky pushed Zuma onto his back.
"Who's my good boy, who is he, who is he?" Rocky asked scratching Zuma's tummy. Zuma wiggled and squirmed, and his tongue lolled out.
"Hehehe...Wocky...!" Zuma exclaimed. "A little farther down..." Rocky hit Zuma's most sensitive spot on his tummy, and Zuma howled softly. "Yeah! Wight there!" Rocky ran his other paw all over Zuma's body...well...almost everywhere. "Who's my good boy, Zuma?"
"I am, I am!" Zuma said, laughing.
"Yes, you are!" Rocky continued, kissing his nose. Rocky felt himself blushing and saw Zuma doing the same.
"How's that for a treat?" Rocky asked when he was done.
"Best. Treat. Ever." Zuma replied. Rocky 'awwww'ed. Rocky and Zuma both laid on sides, facing each other.
"What was that, though?" Zuma asked after a bit. "Why'd you get so mad?"
"It was nothing...just something really personal, and I don't want anyone to know about it. When you almost read it, I guess I just got really scared, and then I got mad at you because it was such a close call."
"You know...you can always tell me anything," Zuma said softly. "You don't have to keep secrets from me." He pulled back enough to look into Rocky's eyes. Rocky felt his mind scramble, and he couldn't think. He tried his hardest to look away from Zuma, but he couldn't. Rocky breathed Zuma's scent in deeply, letting it intoxicate his mind. His tongue hung out. He felt cold and hot at the same time, extremely energized yet completely drained.
Luckily for him, it was Zuma that looked away, freeing Rocky from the trance he had put him in. He nuzzled Rocky's neck.
"I'm weally sorry for what I did. It wasn't any of my business, anyway."
"Don't apologize," Rocky said softly. "I overreacted. I always share everything with you anyway, so I shouldn't've acted like that."
"Fwiends again?" Zuma asked, looking into his eyes again.
"Friends," Rocky said, licking his cheek. Zuma's tail began wagging way too quickly. Zuma suddenly put his muzzle close to Rocky's. Rocky's blushed red. "Zu-Zuma...?"
"Hold still, Wocky boy." Zuma said. He gently gave Rocky a kiss on the cheek. It was about 2.5 seconds long, and Zuma's whiskers and his soft lips against Rocky's cheek made Rocky shiver happily.
"You'we the best fwiend a pup could ask for," Zuma said, pulling back. Rocky was dazed, and Zuma laughed, putting a paw over his mouth. "What, you've never been kissed before?" he asked. Rocky shook his head, his blush intensifying to the point where his cheeks began to burn.
"Why...why did you do that?" Rocky asked. Zuma shrugged.
"I don't know. I just felt very happy with you. Sowwy if that makes you feel...uncomfowtable..."
"No, no! It was nice." Rocky said. "I was just surprised..."
"It's not because I like you or anything...if that's what you were thinking." Zuma lied quickly. "I was just being affectionate."
"I know," Rocky said, burying his snout in Zuma's neck. He felt slightly sad, but still super happy. "You're cute." Rocky smelled something enticing and seductive, and he sniffed the air. He sniffed Zuma's pelt, and Zuma giggled. "What's exciting you?" Rocky asked, closing his eyes. "You smell really strong..."
"You awe." Zuma said, laughing. "You make me very happy."
"Awwww..." Rocky said, licking Zuma's ears. "You're really sweet, Zuma."
Zuma looked into Rocky's eyes again. "Wanna go down to the beach? It's a nice day outside...?"
"Sure…" Rocky said, absentmindedly. "Could you...ummm...would you mind..." Rocky said hesitantly. Zuma kissed Rocky's other cheek and giggled. Rocky looked at him with love-struck eyes. However, Zuma looked away, and Rocky came back to himself again. He shook his head and suppressed the raging inferno of love he was feeling until it was once again a burning bed of embers. Whoa! You're gonna get yourself caught, you stupid puppy! Zuma jumped off the bed and yelped the moment he hit the ground.
"Are you okay?" Rocky asked worried, jumping down beside him and yelping as well. The two held up their injured paws and looked at each other for a split second before bursting into laughter. The two rolled around on the ground hysterically, and Rocky suddenly picked Zuma up and spun him around.
"Whoa, Wocky!" Zuma said, laughing, hindpaws swing in the air. "Don't let me go!"
"I'll never let you go," Rocky said, hugging him close to his heart. Zuma sighed, hearing Rocky's heartbeat, his own synchronizing with it. Zuma leaned closer into him, and that one action was the fuel the bed of embers needed to start up the fire again. "I love you, Zuma..." Rocky said, enjoying the feel of Zuma's fur against his own.
"Me too," Zuma replied, feeling butterflies in his heart. He smiled, and Rocky kissed his nose. Zuma lifted his snout and brought it closer to Rocky's slowly. Just stay still, Wocky boy... He begged. Just let me kiss you...!
However, that was not to be.
"Come on, I'll take you myself!" Rocky said, moving away from Zuma and wiggling under him. "Hold on tight, my dude!" He said my… Zuma thought dreamily. My... Rocky ran down to the beach, the pain in his paw non-existent and his feeling of love for Zuma eradicating every other feeling or emotion. Rocky almost ran straight into the water but stopped just in time.
"Saved it!" Rocky congratulated himself. Zuma didn't climb off.
"No...let's go, Wocky," Zuma said.
"You know I'm afraid of water," Rocky said. "So why...?"
"Do you trust me?" Zuma asked softly.
"Yes," Rocky said without hesitation.
"Have you ever tried facing your fear, with somepup beside you? With somepup, you twust more than anyone else, somepup you can twust with your very life? Somepup who won't mock you, or make fun of you, someone who cares about you more than anything else in the world? Somepup who wants to see you happy more than anything else?" Zuma asked very, very softly.
"I...well...no…" Rocky said finally.
"I'll be that pup, Wocky," Zuma said, stroking his neck fur. "I can help you...if you want me...I mean, if you want me to." Zuma blushed, hoping Rocky didn't pick up on his mistake. But still...it would be wonderful if you wanted me...I want you...I also want you to like me... Rocky responded by putting a paw in the water. He whimpered, and Zuma licked his ears softly.
"You've got this Wocky! After today, you'll never have to worry about this fear anymore, okay?" Rocky nodded and took a shaky breath. "I'm right here with you...you don't have to be afraid as long as I'm with you...I won't let you drown...and I'll never let you go." Rocky surprisingly found that facing his fear with Zuma was very easy, and he was soon chest-deep in the water.
"Look, Zuma! I'm doing it!" Rocky exclaimed happily.
"I knew you could do it. It makes all the difference when you go in with someone you trust doesn't it?" Zuma asked. Rocky nodded.
"I trust you with my life. If I didn't, I'd never do this." Rocky said, going in up to his neck.
"I trust you with even more than that," Zuma said honestly.
"What do you mean by that?" Rocky asked, confused. My body. Zuma thought lustily to himself. Things were starting to heat up earlier...
"Nothing," he said quickly. He slid off Rocky's back and splashed into the water. He came up gasping, and he wiped water out of his eyes. He shook his ears, and water sprayed everywhere. The setting spring sun set his fur aglow, even though it was wet, and the spraying water droplets completed the picture.
"You're beautiful," Rocky said softly. His muzzle immediately flushed red, and he wished he could take back the words. Luckily, the noise of Zuma's flapping ears managed to mute 'you're'.
"What's beautiful?" Zuma asked.
"Uhhh...the bay!" Rocky said. "Especially how the setting sun reflects off the surface of the waters…" Zuma hung his head for some reason.
"Oh...yeah...the bay...right…" he said somewhat sadly. Rocky didn't notice. (Of course not.) Rocky put a paw on Zuma's chest and slowly stroked it. He lfet trails of fire across it, and Zuma sighed happily. "And his fur is so pretty...even when it's wet...no, not pretty...stunning...he is beautiful...everything about him..." Rocky murmured softly to himself, forgetting Zuma's extremely strong sense of hearing.
"So...you think I'm beautiful?" Zuma said, putting a paw over his heart. Rocky snapped back to reality.
"No! Of course not!" he said. Zuma looked visibly hurt. Rocky tried to backtrack. "I mean yes, I mean, no...I mean..."
"I heard you! You said so yourself!" Zuma meant his accusatory tone to say 'I know you are lying to me', but Rocky took it as 'why the hell did you call be that. Have you lost your mind?!'.
"Why did I do that?" Rocky asked himself. He glanced at Zuma. "I've gotta go!" he turned and swam up onto the beach, and ran back towards the Lookout.
"Wocky, wait, let's talk about…" Rocky was gone. Zuma quickly ran after him. Rocky went into his puphouse, slammed the door, locked it, and hid up under his sheets, wet pelt and all.
"Wocky?" he heard outside. "Come on, let me in, we were having so much fun. I was really happy!"
"I'm tired, Zuma. Tell everyone I'm going to bed." Rocky said.
"You're lying to me," Zuma said.
"I don't care! Go away!" Rocky shouted.
"But we haven't even had dinner yet?" Zuma tried.
"I'm not hungry anymore," Rocky muttered. "Goodnight, Zuma."
"If this is about what you said..."
"I SAID GOODNIGHT!" Rocky shouted. He heard Zuma pad away, whimpering.
Rocky turned over in his bed and beat the fires burning in his heart out again. Oh, my god! What is wrong with me? I can't like Zuma, he's a male, just like me! I'm supposed to like girls, not boys! And I almost made a move on Zuma, my best friend. Rocky sighed. This will never happen again. I'd better stay away from him until I can get my emotions under control. He vowed. This is just some weird stage I'm going through. Before I become a full-grown dog...even though I'm still super young...yeah...that's it… Rocky closed his eyes and tried to sleep. This will all be over soon...and things can go back to normal…
I hope you enjoyed this! This isn't gonna be very long, not more than three chapters of about the same length as this one. Still, its gonna be cute and adorable (which is really all I go for anyway)
Again, I hoped you liked this. Any comments are more than welcome, and don't forget to fav/follow! Cya, guys!
