I yawned, stirring awake to the sunlight quietly seeping into my little bedroom, ugh.. What time was it? I reached out for my phone and grabbed it, checking the time. It was 1:30pm... oh yikes I really did stay up late last night. I need to stop doing that. I sighed, looking around my room to find a lack of items… I didn't move recently, I just find simple rooms nice.
The only occupying spaces seemed to be a closet filled with old items and the rest of my devices, my computer that was decked out for games and many different apps, a scaringly small bedside desk, and my bed. None of these things were exactly praise worthy but they were my home, and that was enough for me. I sighed thinking about whether I should eat breakfast today or just eat lunch.
After fully waking myself up, I got up to change out of my pajamas; fitting myself into some plain black cargo shorts, a white t-shirt, a purple hoodie I grabbed from the jacket rack near the door, and short black socks with my running shoes. Usually I don't put on the hoodie and shoes but I was planning to go to the nearby store right after I started up my computer for the day. As I was walking back to my room, I looked around..."man the house sure is quiet today" I say to no one in particular. I guess mom was at work, then I recalled that I also saw the date was Monday on my phone; I grinned for a moment almost forgetting it was summer break, then I sat back down on my chair and swiveled it around to face the computer screen.
I reached for the start up button on the side of the desk, holding it there for a moment. As I was starting the computer I glanced over to the right of the desk and at the floor, noticing my 3DS charging. It had been quite a while since I played Pokemon, maybe I should make a new team. Anyway It took a while but eventually the computer started up and all the apps turned on. I thought about my next option for a moment, before deciding I would make a new Pokemon team today; but before I could sidetrack myself even more by thinking of new things to do, I noticed there was a very strange app on my computer screen… That's odd, I don't think I've downloaded anything new recently. My best bet was to probably delete it.
Looking at it for a moment however held off my attempts, as I noticed weird details about the actual icon. Firstly, the icon seemed to move around? That was pretty cool, but how was that possible? As far as my knowledge was aware, and honestly my knowledge doesn't extend that far for computers, I was sure moving images weren't a common thing for app icons? Whatever the case was, it actually looked a bit... mesmerizing to say the least. The actual image itself was a star. The star, in of itself, didn't look out of the ordinary, but if you squinted hard enough you could see what appeared to be shimmering and light radiating off the star like some sort of beacon. As for the name it was hard to place. It was just simply labeled "Beyond". I'm not a rocket scientist, but I put two and two together and assumed the star was what was going 'beyond' in this scenario, I guess as some sort of metaphor or something? Who knows honestly.
Whatever the case was with this odd app, I felt myself compelled to open it and truly see for myself what it had to offer. I mean I'm certainly not an idiot when it comes to links but something was just... BEGGING me to click. I could feel myself being pulled in by this magnificent, I mean odd, app. The star was moving, as though it were trying to break free of the confines of the icon. At this point, I had forgotten all I wanted to do beforehand, and... No, I can't do this. I need to focus here, and tread carefully.
Finally, I gingerly clicked the app icon wondering what I was gonna find; and to my surprise... nothing? I was about to inwardly make some sort of insult in my head, until I realized that I was stupid enough to attempt to open the app before inspecting it. Faced with an issue, I didn't really know what else to do here. I was about to move on from the app and just delete it, but suddenly I noticed something strange with my computer. The other apps were glowing, as though they were highlighted. My interest, ever so peaked, followed the pattern the highlight was making. Every game that I had played seemingly in the past month was being highlighted. What was interesting was the each game highlighted was getting closer and closer to the games I had played in that order. But finally, the highlight seemed to freeze for a moment.
I figured it was over, and sighed. And yet, as the iron fist of irony so pleases, the highlights came back. But instead of highlighting a singular icon, this time it seemed to be highlighting every single thing that included... pokemon? Now I was thoroughly confused here, I honestly didn't know what was going on. So, like any normal person, I watched on. What was interesting was that this highlight didn't just include the game app, but it was also highlighting all the folders that had pokemon roms, or pokemon games. It also highlighted minecraft of all things;which I assumed was because I had pixelmon on there.
To say I was stunned would certainly be an understatement here, I was in amazement of this. It wasn't anything special, but all of this highlighting nonsense was really cool looking, so I let it be. Somehow though through all of this I had yet to notice my eyes were getting heavy, and only when the flashing show ended did I gain control of myself. Was I about to fall asleep again? Surely not, I had already been awake for 10 minutes now, I think. Checking the computer screen however proved me wrong, as I had supposedly been watching the light show for over 30 minutes now! It's not like me to fall asleep like this though… My body was swaying in the seat, I looked around and saw the walls spinning, until suddenly, I passed out.
