The walk to the center took a while, since I would constantly stumble from last fatigue, but eventually I stabilized myself with the help of Amber and could walk the rest of the way to the center.
Once we entered the center, I gasped… it was just as cool as the game version. The center was decked out in white walls, with the main attraction being the middle of the center that held the Nurse Joy and the healing station. To the right of her was a poke mart with an employee selling some items to a customer, and at the front of the center was tables and chairs, with some couches decked out on the side. To the left of the Nurse Joy was a little coffee shop, which would mean this one is in the style of the Sun and Moon games.
That much should have been obvious, given the Turtonator earlier. As I was gawking, Amber looked over and said "It looks like you haven't been to many poke centers.. Have you?"I blushed for a moment, before replying with a simple "No". She smiled, and then started to walk to Nurse Joy, I followed close by. "Hello there Amber, are you here to pick up the Riolu you sent here 2 days ago?" the Nurse Joy said, clearly friends with Amber.
I shuddered.. Had I really been out that long? "Well yes, but actually no Joy. My friend here Bahamut was the one who originally found the riolu, but he was in no condition to send it here himself, so I did it for him and treated him at my place." Nurse joy smirked, before slyly replying "Oh.. so Amber finally got a boy to come over to her apartment… He seems like a good guy too, nice catch." I took a second to register that, before looking over at Amber and seeing her blushing madly. "You know that's not true Joy, just tell me if the riolu is okay already!" Amber said, clearly embarrassed.
Nurse Joy laughed before saying "You know I was just messing with you. As for the riolu, I'll go get him for you." So.. the riolu is a male...interesting. We both waited a moment before Joy came back with the Riolu, and he looked in good shape, the riolu looked up while being carried and noticed me; he suddenly jumped out of her arms shouting "Riolu!" while jumping into my arms.
"Woah.. hey there buddy, you seem to be in fantastic shape, I hope you're all right now" Both Amber and Joy gawked at me for a moment before I realized how attached the riolu was to me even though we only have known each other for about an hour tops. I couldn't understand him, but I felt the riolu thanking me through every "riolu!" he would say.
I smiled, before being interrupted. "Uh… Bahamut… you realize that it's almost impossible to get a wild riolu to like you in such a short amount of time.. Right? Sure they have a deep connection with their trainers, but this one hasn't known you for more than an hour at most. You truly are something special" Amber talked with amazement… clearly this type of thing was not common in this world.
Nurse joy added into the conversation too "Bahamut, was it? You seem really close to that riolu, maybe you should consider capturing it and making it official, it clearly seems to cling to you." I pondered this for a moment before looking at the riolu. "Well buddy, what do you say, do you want to make it official and become my partner?" The riolu almost immediately said "Riolu!" with pure excitement.
Joy clearly saw the agreement, and handed me an empty pokeball, "Here, this one's on the house" I eagerly took the ball and pressed the middle of the ball, releasing a red energy that spiraled around the riolu, enveloping it into the ball. The pokeball instantly caught it. I picked up the ball once it fell to the floor and released the riolu once more. "Well buddy, since we're gonna be partners, I think I should give you a nickname… how about… Leonidas?" The riolu eagerly jumped out of my hands, onto the floor, and jumped up saying "Riolu!" out loud.. Clearly he was pleased. I then picked him up and held him up in a piggy back style, waving Joy goodbye as Amber and I left the center.
