Hey guys, sorry for the delay for chapter 2. I've been struggling with saving my chapters, and it keeps coming out with the wrong thing when I post. I'l figure it out, hope you guys enjoyed the beginning so far! - Alysha 3
"Where is it, where is it..." I hear Kitty mumble from my closet. I'm still in my "sleeping" position, before I hear a small victory shriek from my sister. I wait for the right moment to scold her before she tips toes out of my bedroom.
"Put it back." I say.
"Oh c'mon!" Kitty whines, while dropping the striped blouse on my floor, and making a run for it.
I'm wearing a small grin on my face, as I sit up from my bed. I start thinking about the little things, like Kitty trying to steal my clothes, that I'll miss before leaving for college. I'll miss seeing her grow up, her first period, her first bra. Even seeing Dad give her the "becoming a woman" pep-talk.
"Don't forget your picking Margot up today." Dad reminds me, slightly opening my door.
"How could I!" I say feeling offended. I get up and start getting ready for the day's events to come.
Margot was finally coming home from Scotland, and this time with her boyfriend. We'd Skype, and I'd ask Margot about what he was like. All I'd gather was that he was English, had a pottery obsession, and handy. I'd just hope he'd be likable to Dad, even though his say didn't matter, when Margot is practically an adult.
I head downstairs, attempting to bake some chocolate chip cookies for the fourth time this week. I'm still looking for the right amount of crunch, and chewy. Peter and Kitty would always tell me that they were amazing as is, but I couldn't just settle with that.
As I'm making the batter, I hear Dad come downstairs.
"I see you're at it again." He says, acknowledging my mess on the counter.
"I won't stop trying" I respond confidently.
"Just let me get my portion before the "monster" comes." Dad jokes, speaking about my sister.
I finish up, leaving the designated cookie portions set aside. I grab my purse, and head out to go pick my sister up from the airport.
I finally make my last loop around the pick-up zone at the airport and step out. I lean against the car, waiting to see my sisters head pop out of the large crowd.
"LARA JEAN!", I hear a scream from the exiting group of people.
"Margott!" I yell, extending my arms out to my sister.
"I missed you so much, your taller than me now." Margot exclaims, holding me in her arms.
"Eh, you've only seen me three months ago." I say sarcastically. I release from our hug, seeing what seems to be her boyfriend standing behind with the luggage.
"So nice to meet you, Lara Jean. I'm Ravi." He says, extending his arm for a handshake.
"Nice to meet you too, Ravi! I've heard a lot about you!" I reply, quickly accepting his offer in a handshake. I was astounded by the accent I wasn't expecting.
We finally manage to get all the luggage into the car, with the additional load of bags brought on this trip. On the way back, we talk about Ravi's background, some things he's excited to do while he's here in Virginia, and some food he's willing to try. Ravi is definitely a lot different than Josh, but in a good way.
The Dad-meeting-boyfriend didn't go as badly as I thought It would go, and everyone was getting along fine. Seeing Dad learning to accept the fact that his girls were grown and still growing up, has been a fun experience. But I know it's been hard juggling it all ever since Mom passed. Even when I'm off to college, I'll make sure to stick around, but I know they'll be fine without me.
