Servants of Remnant

Chaldea is gone, but the memories remain. A world, filled with fairy tales, monsters and men. A history unlike any other. Sometimes… a hero is needed. From another world, from another time. Not all of them are great, not all of them are 'good'. But when the world needs a hero, these Servants answer the call. Perhaps only one, perhaps many do. These are the tales of many timelines. The 'Servants of Chaldea' who come to Remnant.

Jason

Jason was quiet as he stood in front of the pod containing Ritsuka… and standing nearby, was officer Ironwood, who he'd learned was some sort of special division officer for 'Atlas'.

"Are you ready?" Ironwood asked, looking down at Jason, who stepped forward, laying one hand on the pod, and staring at his Master with a sadness reflected in the glass.

"Yeah… I'm ready," he replied, stepping away before following Ironwood out of the room. Okita was nearby, in another room of the medical bay, being checked over as he and Ironwood kept walking.

"So… this test," Jason started, one hand resting on his belt, where his sword would have been, had Ironwood not had it confiscated, alongside Okita's katana.

"I wish to see exactly what you're capable of yourself," he explained, the pair walking out of the medical bay and down a hallway as Jason closed his eyes, thinking about the current situation… he'd likely be forced to rely on his own pitiful sword skills, alongside his… not exactly high quality blade, and his wits. He hadn't been told anything about the test itself, other than it would be him and him alone… well, here was hoping.

Ironwood led him to a door, before sliding a keycard into the slot by the door, opening it and motioning him to go inside, his sword and sheath were actually sitting in the room, laying against the wall. Looking at Ironwood as he walked inside, the door closed behind him. He grabbed his sword, putting it on his belt again before drawing the blade, holding it with both hands as the various green lights in the corner of the room flashed red, and an alarm started to blare.

"Initiating combat trial." A woman spoke over an intercom, Jason already taking stock of what he had to work with… He could just his skills, no Argo, no allies, just his blade… Actually… he grinned, an idea forming in his head, he just needed one single confirmation and he'd be golden.

"BEGIN!" Jason rushed out as the sliding metal door slammed open in front of him, and skid to a halt behind a pillar that had come up from the floor, bullets flying towards his position almost instantly, metal clanking. So his opponents were machines. Quickly poking his head out he got a very quick look at the ones charging at him right now, their arms blades, and behind them, perched on different pillars, were black robots with machine gun arms. They locked on and started firing again, Jason ducking back behind the pillar and looking to his other side… before running.

Sword in one hand, he sprinted away from his oncoming pursuers, jumping into a roll as bullets tracked just behind him and he leapt up behind another pillar, tossing his sword upwards, he carefully grasped the blade as one of the robots rounded the corner. There! He chucked his sword, the blade spinning until it's hilt impacted the machine's head, Jason rushing forward after his blade and grabbing it out of the air as the machine was still recoiling back from the surprise tactic, he gripped his sword with both hands, stabbing the sword directly into the now exposed neck area of the robot, and twisting popping the head off, and then ducking as a second robot swung as the first fell.

He dodged a few swipes before tossing his sword upwards, the robot following it for just a second as Jason kicked it in the chest, grunting and managing to get it to slide back about a foot. His sword landed on the ground beside him, Jason raising his fists as the robot charged at him and swung its blades.

Just as it swung for one arm, he dodged to the side, grabbing the robot's extended arm with both of his and flipping it over his shoulder with a large grunt of effort. Panting, he grabbed his sword off the ground as the machine tried to swipe at his legs, and he yelped as he was knocked over, but as he was falling, he stabbed his sword directly into the thing's head, shutting it down before pulling it out and kicking himself back up.

Looking around, a new pillar rose up in front of him, a robot standing atop it, guns drawn. He smirked, running forward as the robot's guns spun up, and he jumped as the pillar was still rising, the other robots behind him opening fire as well. Jason grit his teeth and bit down a scream as more than a few bullets tore into his back through his armor, but he flipped onto the pillar and stood face to face with the robot for a second… before ducking as a hail of bullets flew towards him, and over his head, tearing into the robot and leaving lots of little holes in its armor.

Sliding around and grabbing the body, he brought in around and used it as cover, taking his sword and sliding off the left arm as more bullets tore into the metal husk. Sliding off the pillar, leaving behind a trail of blood, Jason took his sword and the arm he'd claimed and ducked behind another pillar, looking at the arm, he jammed his sword into the clip area, tearing it open and dumping the bullets onto the floor… and then grabbing those. Twenty rounds should be enough…

With his prize in hand, he rushed out back into the open, yelped as he ducked and rolled under the arm blade of another robot. Spinning on the ground, he jumped back to his feet, out of the corner of his eye he saw one of the gunners already trailing him, and he flicked four rounds between his fingers, tossing them towards the gunner before getting up and running towards the sword bot.

The bullets landed under its feet, the robot taking a step forward to get a clear shot and stomping on the bullets, leaving behind nothing but shards and gunpowder as it opened fire, and the one Jason hadn't looked at joining in as he made for a slash at the sword bot… and spun around it as it tried to stab him, letting the bullets of his enemies tear it to shreds for him as he looked towards the other robot and tossed another four bullets towards it before running towards it, ducking under a hail of bullets, a few nicking his head and face, blood starting to drip into his left eye at he grit his teeth. He only heard the crunch as it stepped forward to get a better shot at him. He had twelve bullets let…

He slid past another pair of sword bots, both of them watching as he passed beneth their swings before flipping onto his stomach and getting to his feet, rushing forward, both hands on his sword, gritting his teeth as both charged towards him, swords out, ready to cleave. He swung his sword early, the bot on the left actually backing up in response to his early swing. He smirked, before jumping up and kicking the other in the head as hard as he could as it tried to slash at his legs. It stumbled backwards as the bullets started flying down the small corridor betwen pillars he was fighting in. Another gunner.

Leaping backwards as the bullets hit him in the legs, he seethed, pushing himself forward and chucking another four bullets up to where the robot had fired from, eight left. He turned, chucking his sword again, and nailing one of the robots in the head with the blade, but it kept running forward, swinging at him. He dodged around the swings, grabbing the hilt of his sword after the third and tearing it out of the robot's head before smacking the pommel into its chest, the robot stumbling again as the second came up and lept over it, Jason looked up in surprise and dropped to the ground as it tried to swing for his head. Was Ironwood trying to kill him!?

He grit his teeth and swung at the legs of the bot in front of him, cutting through one and flooring the thing before jumping to his feet, seething as the pain came up, and he ducked away from another hail of bullets that tore into the robot behind him. He put his back up against a pillar, sliding his hand into the makeshift pocket he had under his armored hip, sliding the remaining eight bullets in and mentally trying to call Bart or Charlotte, even Medea for a scrap of cloth from one of them.

"I've got you captain!" Charlotte responded, and he nearly sighed in relief as he felt the white handkerchief appear in his hand. Pulling it out, and sliced it with his sword into five pieces pieces, the robots above clanking to try and find him as he snuck around the pillar. He shoved two strips into his pocket again, keeping three in one hand before holding the strips in one hand and starting to scrape his sword against the pillar.

Instantly, the robots locked onto his position, another crunch coming from above as the sparks hit the cloth, failing to ignite it the first time… or the second, and then a flame. He smirked, holding the strips of cloth together as they started to burn, quickly shoving one between the leather straps of his sword's hilt and chucking it towards one of the robots standing on a pillar before covering his ears for once.

There was a clatter, and then a bang, before a clanging of metal, and the ding of his sword hitting the wall. With no time to admire his handiwork he jumped up, griping the side of a pillar and pulling himself up, both robots he could see looking towards their now blown off its perch comrade as Jason began jumping between the pillars, the still burning two strips in his hand as he jumped onto the same pillar as one of the robots. It turned to him just as he dropped a strip of cloth with a smirk, before sliding around it as it fluttered to the floor of the pillar, the robot swinging its gun arm to try and smack him off the pillar as he landed on the ground and rolled, jumping back up and breaking into a run as another bang went off behind him, and more metal clattering. Just as he was getting close to the final pillar, the first of the three gunners rounded the corner, still capable of fighting and fired on him. He gasped, before ducking, the bullets splashing into the pillar behind him before he rolled to another pillar, the cloth reaching the end of its rope and starting to burn his hand as he seethed, and looked around… his sword!

Jumping for it, he grabbed it, before shoving the last strip where the first had been and chucked it towards the final robot, covering his ears as another bang went off, the clattering continuing as his sword landed nearby. Climbing to his feet, Jason panted as he stood up, clutching his chest before the lights in the room flashed, a buzzer going off as he looked around confused, the red lights turning green as the woman came back over the intercom.

"The trial has concluded, please exit the training grounds now," the voice said, and Jason sighed in relief and started walking, stumbling a bit from the injuries to his legs as he pulls out the last two cloth strips, wiping the blood from his forehead and eye away so that he could at least see straight, sheathing his sword… he felt like shit, and very, very tired.

Stumbling into the hallway the door at the end opened, and Ironwood rushed in walking up to him and catching Jason even as he was starting to tilt forward. "What the hell were you thinking!?"

"What, you're the one who wanted the test officer…" Jason chirped back, panting as Ironwood sighed.

"I meant why did you go in there without telling me your Aura wasn't unlocked?" he questioned… Aura, that was new, but he needed to not play dumb.

"Then why didn't you call the test off?" Jason shot back, and Ironwood went quiet for a moment, and Jason continued. "It ain't unlocked because I'm normally the tactical support, like you 'officer'." Jason jested, getting the feeling that Ironwood could likely hand him his ass, especially right now, but he was willing to take that chance.

"...You were impressive," Ironwood started, helping him stand up straight before looking towards the exit door, watching as it slid open and helping Jason out into the next hallway as he continued. "I've seen lots of hopeful students do a lot worse with far more resources available to them." he stated, Jason idly noting that he was effectively dragging him towards the infirmary… of course he was.

"What can I say, I make do with what I've got," he complained… his clothes and armor were just wrecked from the bullets… and his own blood. And the two slashes… yeah he was a mess.

"And I think that you'd probably do a lot better if you had several other factors in your favor, but for right now," Ironwood reached into his back pocket, and pulled out the eight remaining bullets, as well as the two strips of bloody cloth left. "I'm going to need to make sure no one copies your stunt."

"Why's that, don't you have explosions going off all the time?" Jason joked as the two neared the infirmary doors.

"We do in the training rooms, but most people don't manage it with nothing but crushed bullets, a handkerchief and a sword," Ironwood remarked, the blood from the strips staining his gloves… and most of his wounds, having stained a lot of Ironwood's uniform… He was not paying for that, both because he couldn't, and because it was his fault for essentially making him lean on him till the infirm. "But… good work,"

"Yeah I try," Jason snarked back as the pair walked through the infirmary doors, and the nurse came up, Okita sitting nearby, and instantly whipping her head up in surprise at just how bad he looked.

"Jason!" she shot up, and he waved his free hand towards her, stopping her from just rushing to his side as the nurse helped him walk, Ironwood taking his leave as she started to lead him towards a bed.

"Just keep an eye on Rits, alright?" he asked, trying to smile… and failing as Okita frowned, and nodded as Jason got brought into a private room and stuck on a bed, the nurse starting to tend to him… and he groaned and fell to sleep.

"Fine work captain… don't worry, we'll be ready the moment you need us," as Mandricardio spoke in his head… Jason smiled in his sleep, letting the sweet embrace of slumber hold him for the first time in a while.

AN: And here we have Jason's second chapter. Yes, I am well aware that servants are quite strong, but Remnant's not some weak place either. That and Jason on his own is... well, yeah, Jason. But he's still a capable commander and fighter in some respects. so I hope the chapter was to the liking of those who read it. I hope to hear from you all soon!
