Happy Independence Day to my American readers. Bit of a wait this time. Still love writing this so don't worry about it ending any time soon.
Kisses to the reviewers, follower and favorites. I hope you enjoyed a big slice of pie and an ice cold glass of a milk of your choosing.
Cheers!

Book 2: Land of Grass
Chapter 18:
Melody
After four days of traveling with this woman in easy peace, InuYasha found he didn't have someone to compare her too.
She was too quiet and soft spoken to be anything like his former female companions-
...thinking of them burned enough for InuYasha to shift away from that line of thought
She was too meek to resemble Kaede. Even facing death by evisceration, that old bat didn't flinch in the air of InuYasha's fury. This woman quailed if InuYasha so much as raised his voice without warning, which happened a total of twice before InuYasha mastered himself and glared darkly into their grassy path of travel.
Someone had put that fear into this woman who smelled of desperation and felt like wildfire – felt like Kushina (and didn't that set his teeth on edge when he realized she might just be family to Red). It made InuYasha want to turn back and skin the rust eyed bastard who set her to guide him like a loyal dog. She was kind, this woman, with a fleeting smile and a hidden will of iron. InuYasha was impressed with her resiliency, her self control, because his pace would be brutal for his other humans and the woman kept up with no complaint. She even started humming on the second day after InuYasha told her to make some noise so he didn't feel like he was being trailed by a ghost.
Her songs were unfamiliar. All low notes and haunting melody, but it brought a smile to the woman's face, fond and nostalgic. InuYasha found that he could ignore the unease of the tunes when it gave her that expression and after hours of hearing the same 12 songs, he found himself absently humming along as he scanned their newest stretch of savannah.
It was peaceful, and oddly comforting traveling with this stranger.
He should have expected something to go wrong sooner rather than later.
